Of the multiple Overshadowed By Controversy entries, the only one that seems to have stuck is the last one due to LOONA as a whole being on indefinite hiatus post-BBC and the members being split up into smaller groups.

* {{Moe}}: Chuu is generally considered the cutest one in the group because of her big smile and bubbly personality. [=YeoJin=] also gets this to a lesser extent due to her combination of being TheBabyOfTheBunch and being ''very'' tiny even in a group where no one is exactly tall.

* OvershadowedByControversy:
** [[https://preview.redd.it/dxrilp1wlpr41.jpg?width=960&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=cb449b06f62c404f3b207f4506f539ee93cde916 A brand-new advertisement for SKOOLOOKS left out [=YeoJin=], [=ViVi=], and [=HaSeul=] entirely]], despite the latter three being confirmed to have taken photos for the particular campaign. The first ad was rife with awfully blatant, unflattering Photoshop that managed to warp [=JinSoul=]'s beautiful face in particular into UnintentionalUncannyValley territory, but at least it featured all twelve members. Despite the aesthetic improvement (i.e. the reduction of unnatural Photoshop), Orbits were still very much angered by the three's absence in the new ad; especially as [=YeoJin=] is still the only member in LOONA who was underage in 2020 (which you'd think would make her the most apt model for a ''school uniform brand''), and this bunch is well-known for receiving the brunt of ScrewedByTheNetwork.
** In their native South Korea, LOONA was subject to a handful of predebut scandals. Among the major ones was netizens claiming that the yyxy sub-unit debut "[=love4eva=]" was promoting bullying. In the video, Olivia Hye is bullied by the rest of yyxy. This is firmly a FandomEnragingMisconception by now, of course, as the [=LOONAverse=] is fictional and they were playing ''characters,'' and the storyline cautioned strongly against bullying in reality rather than promoting/condoning it.
** When the first set of teaser images for [12:00] were released, controversy regarding cultural appropriation arose as some of the members were wearing feather braids or headpieces similar to the style of Native Americans. Native and indigenous Orbits spoke out about it, stating that they wanted BBC to educate themselves, the stylists, and the girls about their culture and correct themselves so the comeback wouldn't turn problematic. [[AuthorsSavingThrow The final product seemed to alleviate the problem.]] For instance, they removed the feathers altogether, and the comeback didn't actually feature any themes of "cowboys vs. Natives," a racist trope that some Orbits feared it would have.
** Most talk of LOONA since Chuu was fired in November 2022 has been less about their content and more about the tensions between the members and Blockberry Creative. This includes a boycott against the label, a series of partially successful lawsuits to get the members released from their contracts, and the indefinite delay of the ''[0]'' EP.

OvershadowedByControversy: Most talk of LOONA since Chuu was fired in November 2022 has been less about their content and more about the tensions conflicts between the members and Blockberry Creative. This includes a boycott against the label, a series of partially ultimately successful lawsuits to get the members released from their contracts, and the indefinite delay of the ''[0]'' EP.EP. The members have since been split into multiple smaller groups (Music/{{ARTMS}} and Music/{{LOOSSEMBLE}}) with Chuu going solo and Yves planning to go solo as well. Although the controversy is more damaging to BBC than to the group, it's still hard to talk about LOONA without bringing this up.

Misuse. Americans Hate Tingle is for works hated in countries OTHER THAN their own.

* AmericansHateTingle: LOONA is considerably less popular in their native South Korea than they are in other countries. [[https://youtu.be/gIkPFNq3avQ This video]] by a Korean fan explains it, citing InvisibleAdvertising and the lasting impression left by their {{Narm}}-filled debut song "Hi High" as two of the main reasons why the group is so unpopular locally. This is beginning to change, thanks to their more domestically successful comebacks in 2020 as well as [[FaceOfTheBand Chuu's]] insane boom in popularity.

Requires Word Of God confirmation

* AuthorsSavingThrow:
** The ''[=[++]=]'' era didn't have the most even line distributions, with [=HyunJin=], [=HaSeul=], and [=ViVi=] often being left out almost entirely. Still good for a twelve-girl group, but fans were annoyed with it as it gave the wrong impressions. Come the ''[xx]'' era, and pretty much every member gets equal time to sing and equally prominent lines, with no one shining ahead of the rest. In title track "Butterfly", all twelve girls get a line in before the first chorus.
** In the ''[12:00]'' era's ''Why Not?'', [=HyunJin=], [=YeoJin=], [=ViVi=], and Go Won, four of the most under-exposed members thus far, get a dance segment to themselves for the second chorus, at least in the music video. They still get plenty of center time and more presence, while in promoting b-side "Voice", they get an even better deal.

Poisonous Friend is no longer a trope

** Most of this centers around Yves vs. Olivia Hye, and which one of them wronged the other. Although Olivia is presented in a lot of dark scenarios and is shown lashing out, "love4eva" shows that she was a victim of cruel isolation by her only friends; likewise, Yves seems fairly well-meaning in trying to get the others to accept self-love, but some of her behavior can be read as that of a PoisonousFriend, such as utterly ignoring Chuu until she gives her what she wants, which is to eat her ForbiddenFruit.

Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

** To some fans, the strongly hinted-at possibility that yyxy may all actually be the same person turns the bullying in "[=love4eva=]," and Olivia Hye's general resentment towards the other girls, into a story of self-hatred. Instead of forgiveness, her later reconciliation with Yves, Chuu, and Go Won becomes self-acceptance too. The "&" era takes this above UpToEleven, with one teaser seemingly implying that maybe it's not just yyxy who are actually the same person, but ''all of LOONA.'' The idea certainly made Orbits reconsider the events of the [=LOONAverse=] in a tremendously different light.

** Most of the members were under 18 when the pre-debut videos were shot, but like the above, there is occasionally a line crossed when it comes to how much MaleGaze is used. The Korean fandom has criticized this, but the international fandom goes easier on it. There's also the matter of whether or not the videos actually ''do'' sexualize them. As with Choerry, one of the biggest subjects of this particular debate -- some think that her solo and performances in ODD EYE CIRCLE sexualized her as a minor, but others think that they're perfectly fine and age-appropriate material.

A few have even gone so far as to criticize the outfit as "basically lingerie." However, there are plenty as well who think that the ensemble is perfectly fine, modest, and age-appropriate, and that people who cry over-sexualization for "Love Cherry Motion" may be thinking too hard about things.
