** Younger fans could be forgiven for thinking that “Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows” by Music/Lesley Gore was written for this movie because it fits the iconic “Sunny…side up!” scene to perfection.

* UncannyValley: Of food, amazingly enough. It's very detailed, but it's strange to see it so big. Also true of some the characters, particularly Flint with his [[https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-980trWFC5bs/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABg/jJuUtZ1JLrg/photo.jpg blank eyes and huge mouth]], and the sequel’s Chester V, who, on top of [[http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/cloudywithachanceofmeatballs/images/7/76/Unknow_character.png/revision/latest?cb=20130923211104 having the same problems as Flint]], also has unnaturally fluid movements (but then again, it's probably justified in [[EvilAllAlong Chester's]] case).

* UnnecessaryMakeover: Inverted. [[spoiler: Sam wears her glasses and puts her hair in a ponytail for the last half of the movie.]] Plays straight, though, as Flint is more attracted to her after the change.
** Although, InUniverse [[spoiler: it could be considered to have been played straight. Sam did say the glasses and ponytail look was her old appearance, which she probably had to change to become a weathergirl if the asshole news reporter is any indication.]]

* EsotericHappyEnding: Subverted. [[spoiler: You would think that the destruction still on several places, mainly the tourist attraction areas, might be this, but they dealt with this in the end credits.]]

* FirstInstallmentWins: Though the second film still has decent ratings, most fans prefer the first film.

* MoralEventHorizon: If Mayor Shelbourne didn't [[{{Pun}} scoot]] across this [[spoiler:after overloading Flint's machine to generate as much food as possible, and fight Flint to keep him from deactivating it, resulting in him accidentally destroying the computer needed to give it the kill code and go out of control, putting the entire world at risk, then he definitely did after deciding to set Flint up as the scapegoat to turn the town against him and protect himself.]]

* UglyCute: The ratbirds

* FirstInstallmentWins: A more minor example. Though most fans prefer the first film, the second film is still loved and considered a prime example of a good animated movie sequel.

* {{Sequelitis}}: Or ''Prequelitis'' in this case. The show got a lot of negative reactions from fans, mainly due to its [[ToiletHumour cheap, uninspired]] [[SadistShow humor]], many of the characters undergoing {{Flanderization}} and/or becoming [[TheScrappy outright unlikable]], most of episodes' plot tending to come off as [[ClicheStorm unoriginal]] or [[IdiotPlot dumb]], the [[UncannyValley unappealing character designs]], and, above all, the lack of concern for continuity with the two movies despite, in theory, being a prequel series. The show does still have fans who can forgive said flaws, though.
* UncannyValley: Most (if not all) of character designs fall into this, especially Flint with his enormous nose.
* WhatAnIdiot: "Flint's Biggest Flup". Flint invents a horn which takes whatever goes in one end and multiplies it out the other end. He gives one to everyone (in fact using a flup to replicate one into dozens in front of everyone) and they all use it.......in every way except in the way its supposed to be used.

* CrazyAwesome: Earl. And you know, ''arguably'' Manny(?). But, you know, mostly Earl.

* EnsembleDarkhorse:
** "STEVE!"
** Earl, for being utterly hilarious and CrazyAwesome.
** Manny, for being similarly CrazyAwesome.

* HilariousInHindsight: Creator/BruceCampbell playing a character that became fatter and meaner over time, while also (albeit unintentionally) putting several lives in danger? [[Series/AshVsEvilDead Hmm...]]

* JustHereForGodzilla: Plenty of fans of ''WesternAnimation/CloneHigh'' went to see this movie just because Phil Lawrence and Chris Miller were directing it.

* ReviewsAreTheGospel: When the movie was initially released in 2009, it was fairly well-liked and successful at the box office. In the years since it came out, particularly when the sequel came out, several animation aficionados, [[WebVideo/AniMat Mat Brunet]] being the most prominent example, have come out and made their case for it being a bad film. While the ''Cloudy'' movies haven't gained an outright hatedom or are DeaderThanDisco, they ''have'' received more vocal criticism (justified or not) in comparison to 2009-2010.

** The Mayor himself. For one thing, he is constantly ''glistening with sweat''. Then he's shoveling food into his mouth with every scene he's in. At one point, he eats a hot tag about as tall as ''he'' is, and when he talks to Flint after, ''the hot dog is still visible in his mouth.''

* NauseaFuel: If 90 minutes of ''food'' doesn't eventually make you feel sick to the stomach, the mayor will.

** Speaking of which, the obese version of the Mayor is constantly ''glistening with sweat''.

* HarsherInHindsight: The original movie starts with Flint being bullied and belittled by almost everyone in his town, until the ending where he finally earns some respect. However, the show is a prequel to the movie ([[ContinuitySnarl well, in]] [[{{Retcon}} theory, anyway]]), meaning that all the developments in the movie are undone [[PlayedForLaughs for the]] [[SadistShow sake of comedy]].

* FunnyAneurysmMoment: Flint mentioning he has an allergy to peanuts stops being a funny little aside when you realize that [[ActorSharedBackground his voice actor, Bill Hader, has the same thing]].

* EarWorm: ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwOFeBDp5qA It's raining sunshine... it's raining sunshiiiiine...]]'' as sung by Creator/MirandaCosgrove.
