* MemeticMutation: Escargoancitizen. Part of a weird minific series on Tumblr, Kyle is a snail, and other people on the site are other wodland animals (or plants, or inanimate objects). Eventually he and his title card artist Ven filmed a live action version of the OriginStory of Oancitizen; a pastiche of ''Manga/{{Uzumaki}}''. Escargoancitizen fanart is also popular on Tumblr.
* {{Moe}}: The drawn title cards has his character as rather "moe"-like, particularly in the Sabastine review.

* CrossesTheLineTwice: [[spoiler: Oancitizen's conversation with the NATO representative at the end of his review of ''A Serbian Film''. Hearing Oan demand that NATO wipe out Serbia is a little uncomfortable at first...until you get to the "fictional bombs" part.]]

* MoeMoe: The drawn title cards has his character as rather "moe"-like, particularly in the Sabastine review.

* InternetBackdraft: He uploaded "The Girlfriend Experience" to ThatGuyWithTheGlasses. By day's end, he was bombarded by accusations of slut-shaming, misogyny, and overall bad taste. He wound up losing viewers and disgusting newcomers out of taking interest. When he tore it down and explained why he didn't like the review, he was accused of everything from backpedaling to weakness of character.

* LikesOlderWomen: From his love of Emma Thompson, to his outraged disbelief that a teenaged boy in {{Ken Park}} managed to seduce an attractive older woman, to his insistence that Sasha Gray looks like a 14-year-old, he gives off quite a vibe of this.

* ButtMonkey: In and out of character; he is often taken on reviews to act as the stoic foil to all sorts of slapstick and sillyness, gets tormented by other reviewers, most prominently by DiamandaHagan. Out of character, three videos ihe posted on TGWTG in 2012 caused controvercies, two from fans, one from the creator of the film he reviewed.

* CrossesTheLineTwice: [[spoiler: Oancitizen's conversation with the NATO representative at the end of his review of ''Film/ASerbianFilm''. Hearing Oan demand that NATO wipe out Serbia is a little uncomfortable at first...until you get to the "fictional bombs" part.]]

* FridgeBrilliance: In the ''Trash Humpers'' episode, Oancitizen declares that "our words are backed with nuclear weapons!" Of course, this is a quote from ''{{Civilization}}'', but keep in mind what happened at the end of the ''Ken Park'' review.

* HateDumb: From a few [[WebOriginal/TheCinemaSnob Cinema Snob]] fans that only see him as an inferior knock-off, completely unaware their styles and movie targets are different (He does art films, not exploitation films). One even signed under his name, claiming (as him) to be an unofficial sequel to the Snob.

** In the ''{{Film/Antichrist}}'' review, he made a reference to Faranelli, a castrato singer.

* InternetBackdraft: The "Sh*t TGWTG Fans Say" angered quite a few fans for a TakeThat at a Fandom blog admin, which Kyle even made explicit on the fourms. A day after uploading the video the discussion thread had reached 12 pages, Kyle had taken the video down, and he and Lindsay's roommate that said the lline in the video had apologized.

* UnfortunateImplications: ''The Girlfriend Experience'' was (albeit accidentally) incredibly misogynistic, to the point where Oancitizen considered tearing it down. This did not, however, stop him from uploading it to ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.

''Alice'' makes him break down in tears of terror, and ''The Fall'' causes him to cry inky mascara tears, [[FridgeLogic even though he wasn't actually wearing any makeup at the time]]. Not to mention he suffers through so many disturbing films. You just want to give him a hug.
