** The Mancrab from ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooMysteryIncorporated'' makes a brief cameo, but is being worn apparently by someone with a stereotypical nerdy voice that runs for a kiddie ride. This is a Take That aimed at the detractors that look down on post-''Mystery Incorporated'' works simply because they're not direct continuations of the show or as DarkerAndEdgier as the show, as the movie itself aims as a love letter to the older cartoons and ''Mystery Incorporated'' instead tried to re-imagine that many found incredibly off base.
*** The Blue Falcon for example in that show seems to be considered his major selling point that he is a parody of Batman and the re-imagined by switching which version of Batman they were parodying. This in stark contrast to those who liked Blue Falcon because of he is a serious super hero with a dopey sidekick. This aspect is also directly parodied in the movie itself making it all more appropriate they'd poke a shot at the show that actually did to Blue Falcon what this movie characterizes as a very misinformed flaw.

* MythologyGag: The very first ''Dynomutt'' episode was a crossover with Scooby-Doo that featured Mr. Hyde as the villain. Hyde's actions also reflect the original episode plots, which is acknowledged InUniverse.

*** Tara Strong voices two character in this movie. The main character she voices is a kid named Austin, an adorkable cheerful child, much like her own Billy Batson. The end of the movie has her play a character named Nora Spingleton, whose costume is much similar to that of Huntress, another character she voices.

*** John DiMaggio voices the Monstrous Mr. Hyde. One of his many Batman characters is Gorilla Grodd, whose in a similar vein.

*** Daphne is shown obsessing over a toy bird for her collection. Grey DeLisle voiced Black Canary.

** The head security guard is even a dead ringer for Paul Lynde, who did voices for several HB characters like Claude Pertwee from 1970's ''Where's Huddles?''.

Justified in that he's mostly there trying to prove his worth of being the original Blue Falcon and [[spoiler: because he was tricked into being the bad guy in order to gain recognition.]]

Heavy on the "affectionate" part - the movie is very devoted to the older things it's presenting (at one point, Shaggy even makes an impassioned speech about this).

** The convention is filled with people dressed up as a lot of older characters; however, do note the parking lot scene where the Man Crab from ''Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated''. It's very heavily implied that the only person dressed as a modern Scooby monster sounds like a childish nerd, in comparison to all the respectable background nerds dressed as older characters. Makes sense why the animated films never adopted the ''Mystery Incorporated'' style like they did the ''What's New'' style when it came out.
