* ShortRangeShotgun: Downplayed. Shotguns do suffer damage falloff after a certain point, but it only takes effect over a respectably long range of 10-20 meters and the penalty generally caps out high enough that they can still deal serious damage from afar. The alternate fire mode of the Euphona Prime shotgun pistol is a straighter example, however, with a range of 6-12m and minimum damage of ''1%''.

* ArtificialScript: Both the Grineer and the Corpus languages as well as the Fortuna dialect use their own fictional alphabets, (though for the most part they are just substitution cyphers for English, with some letters missing). The Orokin alphabet, also used by the Tenno, is more complex, and even offers two ways of writing words - in a line or in a circular formation, resembling a flower.

** [[HollywoodAcid Corrosive]] damage combines Electric and Toxin damage to possibly remove a quarter of an enemy's armour permanently. Obviously armoured enemies are vulnerable to this, just not proto-shields.

** On the Tenno side, the Infested Charger pet has an ability that works identical to how enemies do it. Valkyr's first ability also works by firing a line that, if hitting an emey, yanks them towards you - but because of how the game's physics works, rather than pulling them to your feet it is more likely to violently hurl them over you to the opposite end of whatever room you're in.
** Terra Shock Moas found on Orb Vallis provide an [[InvertedTrope inversion]] - they also fire a grappling line at you that they use to launch ''themselves'' to ''you'', delivering an electrified dropkick to your face in the process.

** Nezha, being inspired by a child-god, is a very slender-built male Warframe (looking much more like a marathon runner than a traditional action movie hero) among more broad-shouldered slabs of traditional adult masculine ideals. This is due entirely to the child-like associations to his mythical inspiration, as demonstrated by his Deluxe Skin, the aged-up version, which is decidedly more beefy, and which [[EatingTheEyecandy Rebecca Ford 'accidentally' zoomed-in on the more salient characteristics]] of during one of the Devstreams

* AltumVidetur: A single-word example; ''Corpus'' can be translated from Latin to mean 'corporation', amongst several other things. The symbols used in their writing (various ship signs, broadcasted messages, etc.) seems more like a mix of the standard Latin and Cyrillic scripts, though.

* QuicksandBox:
** You have a tutorial mission, and a few others, but after that, there's very little indication of what you should do next, or rather, what you even ''can'' do. While it has gotten a ''lot'' better over the years, new players may find themselves a little confused if not overwhelmed as to what to do.
** This can also happen in Cetus, due to the fact that it's a WideOpenSandbox in a game that played much more like a minor dungeon stalker.
** The Solar Rails update fixes this by partitioning off planets and requires specific steps to advance to others, but after the tutorial quests, the second major quest is figuring out Cetus.

** One moment, you're an ordinary Grineer grunt, going about your boring daily life. The next, out of nowhere, you're fighting for your life against a group of highly-armed, highly-mobile, utterly implacable killers. They [[IAintGotTimeToBleed never bleed,]] [[TheDeterminator never retreat,]] [[ImplacableMan and never stop.]] They [[TheVoiceless don't even vocalize when you blast them point-blank with a shotgun.]] Blow them up with a rocket launcher? [[OhCrap You just made them]] [[ShootTheMageFirst focus on you instead.]] Hose them down with an LMG? [[NoSell You're just]] [[ShootingSuperman wasting your ammo.]] Summon your buddies to help you fight them? [[EnemyRisingBehind They're all dead by the time you're reaching for that panic button on the console,]] [[ThisIsGonnaSuck and you can already hear footsteps behind you.]] It doesn't matter how many of your allies came to help you, either, because [[QualityVsQuantity even the best you have isn't going to be enough for this.]] To top it all off, [[ParanoiaFuel this scenario can happen to you, anywhere, any time]] -- even your leaders are not safe. It sucks to be a Mook in the Warframe universe.

** This is emphasized in the trailers for Prime Warframes, as the Warframes mow down their foes to Ballas' slow, deliberate narration describing how monstrous they are and his vision for them. Especially creepy is Nekros Prime's trailer, which shows a Corpus Crewman running for dear life from Nekros and the zombified remains of his crewmates before being converted himself. Valkyr Prime is little better, as she rips apart her foes with all the ferocity of a wild animal.

** The Gustrag Three are psychopathic to the point of slaughtering fellow Marines, simply because their ship was taking too long to get to the action. When Sargas learns about this, he is disgusted that Vay Hek, who ordered their rehabilitation, would find use for traitors, and that he'll regret it when they stab him in the back.

* ShortRangeShotgun: Averted... well most of them anyway, as of Update 17, ''most'' shotguns still hit like freight trains at a distance.

** One of Lech Kril's lines is something like "My hammer will strike you down [[Film/PulpFiction with great vengeance and furious anger.]]

** Nezha's ''Divine Spears'' does this to all enemies in a radius around them, leaving them struggling and helpless if they manage to survive the initial impalement.

* HerdHittingAttack: Melee attacks with dual wielded or heavy two-handed weapons (including the Bo) can hit multiple enemies per strike.

Tenno are still restricted from using companions and gear while Nef Anyo's Brokers do not have any such restriction, and in addition Tenno need to win three consequitive rounds to obtain victory in a match, while Brokers need to score only one round to win the whole match. [[spoiler: During the Glast Gambit quest Nef goes even further, by rigging the match so that Tenno become unable to score any points at all]].

* TheFaceless: The Tenno never remove their helmets. What they actually look like, [[AmbiguouslyHuman or actually ARE,]] is anyone's guess. As it turns out, [[spoiler:the Tenno have faces- but they're not inside the helmets at all. They're fairly ordinary-looking teenagers. However, what lies beneath the helmets of the ''warframes'' was unknown until The Sacrifice, where it's revealed (courtesy of Excalibur Umbra) that underneath the helmet is a Dax soldier that has been infected with a specially cultivated strain of Infestation. One helmet even [[BodyHorror reveals a single, sightless eye under a stretch of raw red muscle.]]

** Some weapons are a [[LostForever one time affair]], so if you sell them you can miss out on mastery. However if you accidentally sell such equipment, you can ask Digital Extremes for the weapon back.
