* IKnewIt:
** Creator/LauraDern's character's identity wasn't revealed in the lead up to the premiere of the third season, and interviews consistently stressed that she was playing someone important. Very few fans were surprised when it turned out she's playing [[spoiler:Diane.]]
** Many viewers correctly guessed that [[HateSink Richard Horne]], with his extremely violent behavior, was the [[spoiler:son of Mr. C and Audrey]].

* AccidentalDownerEnding: The series has an ending which seems to take fiendish delight in screwing over every likable member of the cast. This was not intended to be the series' absolute finale, as a third season was planned, but after failing to regain its flagging viewership, the show was cancelled before it could be produced... Then it finally received a [[SequelGap sequel series 25 years later]], which tied up some of the loose ends, left others hanging, and ended on ''yet another'' [[DownerEnding downer note (although at least this time it was intentional)]].

Coulson would eventually succumb to complications from her illness five days after her scenes where shot, and probably as a result, [[TheCharacterDiedWithHim the Log Lady dies after her final scene]].

Creator Chosen Casting is when the casting of an adaptation is influenced by the creator of the work being adapted. Since this work is not an adaptation, it doesn't count.

* ActorAllusion: Producer Dino De Laurentiis accidentally came up with the nickname "Kale" for Creator/KyleMacLachlan while they worked with Lynch on ''Dune'', as he could not pronounce the name "Kyle". Lynch loved it and kept it as an affectionate nickname for the next 30-years-plus of working with him. While not explicitly confirmed, it's easy to imagine that Dale is named after Kale.
* AuteurLicense: Lynch and Frost were given total creative control over ''The Return'', which led to it being the monumental MindScrew it is.

AwardCategoryFraud: While not explicitly confirmed, it was mostly ignored at the UsefulNotes/{{Emmy Award}}s, ''The Return'' competing in the limited series categories counts. Sure, it's easy separated from the original run by twenty-five years, has its own feel, and there was no plan to imagine continue afterwards, but it's still the third season of a continuing drama series. Not long afterwards some rules came into play at the Emmys that Dale is named after Kale.
would likely have put it into eligibility in the drama series categories instead.

** It was also the network that pushed Lynch to reveal Laura's killer much sooner than he intended to, which without the main draw of "Who Killed Laura Palmer?" left the rest of Season 2 in plot limbo, which contributed to the declining ratings.

Not really an example. He was offered the role and chose to refuse of his own accord, and while his tirade against Lynch afterwards was bizarre, it isn't really relevant to the trope.

* RoleEndingMisdemeanor: Michael J. Anderson demanded more money to appear. Lynch said he couldn't pay it, and so MJA went on a hate campaign against him: His Facebook page is full of comments about Jews, claims that Lynch raped his daughter/killed Jack Nance, and him moaning about the new ''Twin Peaks'' and saying the original is boring and he never watched it. It's hilarious because people are posting on his page (now that he has been replaced by a tree) that perhaps he should "branch out as an actor", "All you ever did was dance about and the tree is better at that", or "Your performance was a bit wooden tonight".
