** The game has some sprites of Diddy and Dixie mourning, which have been DummiedOut. They seem to have been meant for when they lose a bonus game much like with DK and Diddy in the first game, rather than the screen freezing in the actual game.

* FanNickname: The music played in the mine levels has no official name, but is commonly called "Mining Melancholy" due to that name's use on a DK fansite.

** [[http://www.gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=187739 According to]] Creator/DavidWise, Stickerbush Symphony was originally meant to be a follow up to Aquatic Ambience. However, due to the lack of true water levels, it was almost cut from the game before becoming the music for the bramble stages. He said it fit due to the SoundtrackDissonance of the NintendoHard stages.

Names The Same is no longer a trope

* NamesTheSame: This game's Spiny (a porcupine) has the same name as the TropeNamer of TheSpiny from ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros''.

not trivia, not actually ascended

* AscendedFanon: Sort of. Rare used the Mining Melancholy name (which is a FanNickname for the mine levels) on a [[https://twitter.com/rareltd/status/1295760259047403520 tweet]] on their Twitter account. Granted, given they're not involved with the franchise anymore, it still remains largely unofficial.

Fan Nickname is now YMMV.

* FanNickname: The mine level music, which was absent from the official soundtrack and didn't have an official name for years, is most commonly called "Mining Melancholy" on fan websites, [[https://twitter.com/dkvine/status/706853470154969088 originating]] from DK Vine in 1999. The GBA remake's Sound Test officially calls it "Kannon's Klaim", after the level where the music first plays.
