* SomethingCompletelyDifferent: "And... Action!" starts out normally, then Ziggy breaks the fourth wall and turns it into a behind-the-scenes episode.

* IAteWhat: (Arguably) family-friendly version - Ziggy tries some of the pink stuff Gem and Gemma are cooking, which turns out to be plastic explosives.

** Of the secondary-colored ones: Black Ranger Dillon is another Mage + Fighter, a BarrierWarrior wielding a HandCannon who also has cybernetic implants and is the most proficient in martial arts among the team, and Ziggy, the Green Ranger, is a Fighter + Thief, combining a heavy axe with teleport ([[TheLoad not that he's good at using either of them]]). [[TheDividual Gem and Gemma]], the [[SixthRanger Gold and Silver Rangers respectively]], are both Thief + Mage, using daggers combined with [[PlayingWithFire]] fire and [[AnIcePerson ice]].

** Of the primary-colored ones: Red Ranger Scott Truman as the Fighter + Thief, [[MasterSwordsman using his Street Saber sword]] and SuperSpeed, while Yellow Ranger Summer Landsdown is Thief + Mage, using a Zip Charger (some sort of remote-controlled Attack Drone useful for sneaky attacks) and KamehameHadouken attacks, and Blue Ranger Flynn Mc Allister is a Fighter + Mage, using a [[BFG heavy explosive cannon]] from long range and [[TimeStandsStill being able to stop time]].

** In the episode "Heroes Among Us", Gem gives a couple swipes and a robot blows up. Just for that he gets a "Hero of Corinth" medal. Scott has never earned a "Hero of Corinth" medal despite the fact he's saved the city many, many, many more times with the other rangers before Gem arrived in Corinth.
** The fact that Dr. K worked on the [=PaleoMax=] zords before the others were invented, and she certainly couldn't have known of Gem and Gemma's zords or the future Whale zord, so how come the 3 [=PaleoMax=] zords are labelled 10, 11, and 12? Suspicious they knew they'd be introduced after 9 others came in.

With its AfterTheEnd premise in a franchise that had already been seen to have a shiny, happy future, the time setting of this season was ambiguous until these crossovers established that it took place in a parallel universe to the one most ''Power Rangers'' seasons take place in.

* UnfortunateNames: In parts of America "Grinder" means a submarine sandwich.

** Right before discovering she's a Venjix infiltrator, a soldier gets what he thinks is a false reading on his scanner, saying that it's been getting false readings all week. [[spoiler:the finale reveals that Venjix has multiple ManchurianAgents in the city, meaning that those probably ''weren't'' false readings.]]

** The toyline [[ToylineExclusiveCharacter also had]] additional Zords such as a [[CunningAsAFox Fox Zord.]]

* MakeMyMonsterGrow: "Begin The Download", used by Venjix most of the time. The generals can call it in the field if need be.

** Then again, while Ziggy's fighting prowess isn't up to par with the other Rangers it is rather effective in its own Jackie Chan-bungling kind of way.

* ColonyDrop: [[spoiler: Gem and Gemma destroy Venjix by dropping the Corinth control tower on his head.]][[spoiler: ''[[NighInvulnerability It is implied he still survives!]]'' [[Series/PowerRangersBeastMorphers And indeed he did]]...]]

* GreaterScopeVillain: [[spoiler:Alphabet Soup, the corrupt Government facility who kidnapped geniuses, lied to them about an illness and worked them to death, which resulted in Dr. K making Venjix.]]

* PragmaticAdaptation: While the show likely didn't have the budget to digitally recolor ''Go-Onger'''s silly looking zords, they do attempt to distract from the silly looking appliance-based monsters by having them not talk, but instead just be snarling beasts. Only a handful of [=MOTWs=] have had any lines, the rest either growled or made electronic noises. This required quite a bit of editing, as the ''Go-Onger'' monsters were extremely talkative and would often do a short monologue (or even a song!) before they exploded; in ''RPM'', they simply cut straight from the finisher to the fall n' kaboom. As for the zords, whenever they have to talk, they just have the rangers inside talking instead.

* {{Steampunk}}: The outside of Venjix's base invokes this trope. The interior, on the other hand, is decisively more futuristic.
* StepfordSmiler: Two of them, in Gem and Gemma. Probably Type Cs, as it's unlikely that even the most upbeat invidivuals would talk about something like being held captive as test subjects or enslaved for hard labor in a factory of horror without even the smallest crack in their mask. Of course, since they're like that when they first meet K, it's entirely possible that there were [[NightmareFuel even worse events that warped them even earlier on]].

* DarkerAndEdgier: Than ''Go-onger'', and most if not all of the rest of ''Franchise/PowerRangers''.

** Then again, while Ziggy's fighting prowess isn't up to par with the other Rangers it is rather effective in its own Jackie-Chan bungling kind of way.
* CaptainErsatz: Venjix = [[Franchise/{{Terminator}} Skynet]] + [[Film/TwoThousandOneASpaceOdyssey HAL]] + [[Film/{{Tron}} the voice of [=MCP=]]]

* ColonyDrop: [[spoiler: Gem and Gemma destroy Venjix by dropping the Corinth control tower on his head.]][[spoiler: ''[[NighInvulnerability It is implied he still survives!]] '' ]]

** Not sure about that either, they were planning to blow up a Venjix labour camp...With the prisoners still inside, until someone else pointed out that fact. [[FridgeHorror When one realizes that Gem and Gemma have been out in the wastelands all on their own, blowing Venjix outposts up for years...]]

* MythologyGag: There's a [[Series/PowerRangersJungleFury Jungle Karma Pizzeria]] in Corinth, the wedding episode had the local idiot [[Series/MightyMorphinPowerRangers faceplant into a cake]], and Flynn wanted to change the morph call to [[Series/PowerRangersSPD "Rangers to the Rescue"]] or [[Series/PowerRangersJungleFury "Ranger Justice Unleashed"]]. Also, the [[Series/PowerRangersOperationOverdrive Red Overdrive Ranger's]] helmet was seen in "Ancient History".

''RPM'' was the last season to feature music by Leigh Roberts and Wayne Jones, and the last to feature Koichi Sakamoto as an executive producer.

* CompressedAdaptation: Was given 32 episodes to ''Go-Onger's'' 50.
