** "Hansel and Gretel": The Old Woman is the mysterious charming leader of the Orphanage. She manipulates the children of the orphanage into becoming independent through tests and her robotic helpers Mama and Papa. She is even fine with Mama being critically injured to help provide the children with a test to prove their willpower and allow them to survive on their own. Her giving the children a choice to forgot all they have learned and return to the the orphanage or choose to the world even if it's emotionally painful. Ultimately, though she inflicts emotional pain on them, she has the children's best intentions at heart.

She made a deal with the Collector to have him capture and collect and bunch of Blendeds, as a means to protect them, claiming to have the latter's daughter, and would occasionally check up on him by impersonating random people to get in his store. When Carmie came of age, the Shapeshifter sends warrior fairy Tristan to find and bring Carmie to her. Then after Tristan betrays the Shapeshifter and harms Carmie, Shapeshifter sacrifices most of her life and power to bring her daughter back, ending her arc with Carmie and her adoptive family accepting her.

Mathers into devoting himself to her and researches soul transference to achieve immortality. Hundreds of years after her body dies, Echidna meets [[Characters/ReZeroSubaruNatsuki Subaru Natsuki]] in her spirit realm and puts him through a series of trials to confront his past and slowly gains his trust as she explains to him the mysterious nature of his "[[DeathActivatedSuperpower Return by Death]]" ability. Meanwhile having Roswaal attack Subaru and force him into a dire situation in the real world, Echidna nearly lures Subaru into signing a binding contract with her, only stopped by the sudden arrival of the other Witches. Saving her faithful Roswaal after he is injured and fighting on his behalf, Echidna even makes amends with her wayward "daughter" Beatrice, her soul resting in peace after accepting her.

* ''ComicBook/CatwomanLonelyCity'':
** Selina Kyle, a decade after the death of Batman, is released from prison and sets out to uncover her lover's final secret. Despite her age, Selina remains just as wily a thief as ever, orchestrating several successful heists with the help of her fellow rogues. Breaking into and escaping heavily guarded facilities ranging from S.T.A.R. Labs to Ace Chemicals, Selina even enacts the theft of a sample of Clayface's mud from Arkham Asylum, using Poison Ivy's powers to stage a cover for their presence and escaping by using a remote-controlled truck to lead away security, before evading the corrupt Mayor Dent's enforcers when they lay a trap. Though her quest is ultimately in vain, Selina is fully willing to sacrifice herself to prevent Batman's secrets from falling into Dent's hands, before provoking Dent's psychosis to escape his murderous wrath and continuing to plan more elaborate plots by training an apprentice in Edie Nygma.
** Edward Nygma, having long since retired his wacky identity as the Riddler, has become a successful grifter and blackmailer with the help of his daughter Edie. Upon running into Selina, Nygma agrees to help in her heist of the Batcave, quickly proving himself an excellent actor able to provide cover for their schemes. Notably, Nygma volunteers his knowledge of abandoned underground rails as a getaway for their heist from Arkham Asylum, and later figures out the location of the Helmet of Fate in order to steal and gift it to Jason Blood in return for his assistance. In the climax, Nygma proves to be Selina's ultimate saving grace, deducing the entrance to the Batcave to save her life before joining her crew for good to plan future schemes.
* ''ComicBook/Marvel2099'' (Earth-928):
** [[Characters/MarvelComicsDoctorDoom Doctor Doom]] himself, displaced into a dystopian future, immediately claws his way back to dominance and transforms himself from a cruel tyrant into the bombastically brilliant, [[AntiHero yet no less megalomaniacal]], [[BigGood savior of the world]]. In no short order, Doom outwits and slays Latveria's new dictator; usurps complete control over Cyberspace, before directing an A.I. against an antagonistic corporation when she takes his powers; and steals Alchemax's floating city from under the noses of 2099's other heroes, which he then uses to take over another nation before cornering and destroying an imposter and his own former partner. Not content with this unstoppable rise to power, Doom resolves to save the world from the ruthless grip of mega-corps, orchestrating a brutally swift conquest of the United States in which he [[GoodIsNotSoft viciously]] restores free speech, equal rights, and environmental health while empowering numerous heroes to enact justice unmitigated. Though quickly ousted by the monstrous John Herod, Doom strikes back from the shadows to wipe out Herod's entire power base, leaving Herod himself in eternal pain before he travels back in time to undo the genocide of Latveria. Even when confronted by a Phalanx invasion upon his return, Doom reveals he had already been planning for them, using them to restore Latveria's broken land before sabotaging the invasion. Despite his unquenchable lust for power and control, Doom grows to truly care for others and proves willing to do anything to safeguard his people, ultimately sacrificing himself to save the world while entrusting his allies with leading the way to peace and prosperity for all.
** ''Ravage 2099'': [[TheStarscream Sophia Striker]], once the first lady to President Graeme Stryker, became known as "Seeress" after corporations ruined the entire planet. The Seeress became TheDragon to Dethstryk--the new Graeme--and, secretly loathing what her husband had become, plotted for decades to undermine him. After a number of failed uprisings she attempted by convincing would-be Mutroud rebels to attempt coups, the Seeress eventually turned to manipulating Ravage, trying to use him as a pawn in her attempts to thwart Dethstryk. In spite of numerous setbacks, the Seeress is the one to screw Dethstryk over once and for all, installing a [[ThanatosGambit posthumous "death program"]] to depower Dethstryk, leaving him to the mercy of Ravage, and using her last moments to try and ensure peace between the humans and the Mutroids.

* ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsResistance'' "The Engineer": Nenavakasa "Nena" Nalor is a charming saboteur hired by the First Order to track down and infiltrate the Colossus. Tracking the Colossus for days before sending a fake distress signal to be brought on board, Nena quickly sabotages the station's systems under the guise of fixing them so they would be left defenseless when the First Order attacks, all while genuinely befriending Neeku, almost confessing the truth to him. She frames pirates for stealing energy from the station to buy herself time before being found out and offering Neeku a partnership. Rejected, she remorsefully escapes with her payment, hoping that Neeku will figure out how to save the station from what she told him.
* ''[[VideoGame/AmericaRising2 America Rising 2: Legacy of the Enclave]]'': [[ALighterShadeOfBlack Colonel Morgan Whitehill]] proves to committed to the Enclave's vision of rebuilding America, yet [[EvenEvilHasStandards opposed]] to the xenophobia and genetic purism of the Enclave leadership that has led constantly to their defeats across the wasteland. Surviving on an Oil Rig that was the site of FEV experiments carried out by the Enclave leadership for years, Whitehill would be recruited by the [[Characters/Fallout4ProtagonistAndFamily Sole Survivor]] and General Ward once they reclaim the Oil Rig for the Enclave. Whitehill then plays a role in helping to recruit survivors of the Oil Rig to the reconstituted Enclave, showing affection for many of her men that were revealed to have survived. Throughout the Enclave's war in the Commonwealth, Whitehill favors tactics that reduces the casualties of Enclave soldiers.
