** Noelle's mother Acier Silva was named the "[[LadyOfWar Steel Warrior Princess]]" for practically dancing over the battlefield, with her strength and beauty captivating many before her untimely death.

** Despite the chromatic similarities, Char's canonical fighting style, at least in the original series, is actually the polar opposite of Richthofen's. While The Red Baron was an average pilot at best whose real talent was his superior marksmanship and knack for picking targets who wouldn't see him coming, The Red Comet used a combination of high-speed, in-your-face assaults and enough acrobatic skill to avoid taking hits in what would otherwise be suicidal maneuvers. In truth, his style is probably closer to Manfred's brother Lothar, who, while not as famous, garnered a reputation as one of the most aggressive, reckless pilots of WWI.
*** A somewhat more historically accurate homage would be Char's ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamAGE'' counterpart, Zehart Galette, another red-clad ace whose piloting style is somewhat less flashy and more calculated (by the standards of an action series, at any rate), complete with a psychotic, BloodKnight brother/wingman.

** The Worst Generation: "Captain" Eustass Kid, "Massacre Soldier" Killer, "Magician" Basil Hawkins, "Red Flag" X. Drake, "Surgeon of Death" Trafalgar Law (he really is a capable surgeon), "Roar of the Sea" Scratchmen Apoo (who uses sound to attack), "BigEater" Jewelry Bonney, "Gang" Capone Bege (very mafia-themed), and "Mad Monk" Urouge.

*** "Straw Hat" Luffy is an inversion, as his name is mundane and based on him always wearing a straw hat (the hat has a backstory, but the people who gave Luffy that epithet don't know it). 'Straw Hat' strikes fear in others not because the name is scary, but because it means that [[TheDreaded Luffy]] got involved. [[spoiler: He later gets the title 'Fifth Emperor of the Sea' after the events of the Totto Land arc.]]

** The (original) Seven Warlords of the Sea: "Hawk-Eye" Dracule Mihawk, "Sir" Crocodile, "Tyrant" Bartholomew Kuma, "Heavenly Demon" Donquixote Doflamingo (son of a former World Noble, hence the 'heavenly' part), "Pirate Empress" Boa Hancock, "Knight of the sea" Jinbe. (Gekko Moriah does not have one, oddly enough.) Mihawk also used to go by "Marine Hunter", as an antithesis to Zoro.
** The Four Emperors: "Whitebeard" Edward Newgate, "Red-Haired" Shanks, Kaido "of the Beasts", "Big Mom" Charlotte Linlin, and [[spoiler: "Blackbeard" Marshall D. Teach]].

* Everyone of any power in ''Literature/ACertainMagicalIndex'' has a GratuitousEnglish one, which in some way describes their unique power. There's Railgun, Imagine Breaker, Meltdowner, Accelerator[[note]]who apparently has forgotten his "real" name and thus goes exclusively by his title[[/note]] …and, perhaps the best of them all, the doctor named "Heaven Canceler". Think about that one for a second.

* The resident [[TheCape cape]] of ''Manga/MyHeroAcademia'', All Might, is also known as "the Symbol of Peace," a responsibility he takes ''very'' seriously. A few other pro heroes have RedBaron type sobriquets as well, such as Present Mic ([[SuperScream "the Voice Hero"]]) and Midnight ([[MsFanservice "the 18+ Hero"]]).

* ''Literature/SagaOfTanyaTheEvil'': [[EnfantTerrible Tanya Degurechaff]] is known by several titles which strike fear into those unlucky enough to share the battlefield with her: "The White Silver", "Mad Dog", and "The Devil of the Rhine". Eventually, all of these combine into one definitive nickname for her, that being "Rusted Silver", named after the appearance the blood of her enemies take when dried.

* In ''LightNovel/{{Corsair}}'', Ayace, the armada commander, is called "The Devil Killer".

* In ''LightNovel/LoveChunibyoAndOtherDelusions'', it seemed that everyone who had afflicted with {{Chuunibyou}} would have one of this.

** And there's also Scar, whose real name is never revealed, called as such after the eponymous disfigurement on his forehead, who the ''entire military'' has been trying to hunt down.

* In ''LightNovel/{{Baccano}}'', Claire Stanfield's most well-known title is Vino, [[TheButcher in reference to the wine-like stains on the floor he inevitably turns his opponents into.]]

* Played with in ''LightNovel/BenTo''. The various participants in the combat for half-priced lunch boxes do have titles by which they are known and feared. However, those titles were typically earned in embarrassing incidents that the people saddled with them would rather forget.

* ''LightNovel/{{Durarara}}'''s Shizuo Heiwajima has the very well-deserved title of God of Destruction. Occasionally, this is extended to "God of Destruction [[IconicOutfit in a Bartender Suit]]" to make sure people [[ExpectingSomeoneTaller properly identify him]].

* In ''LightNovel/HighSchoolDXD'', if a character has a nickname, then it's likely they're very strong, especially if it's a dragon.

* It seems as though every adventurer in ''LightNovel/IsItWrongToTryToPickUpGirlsInADungeon'' has some kind of nickname, with the Loki Familia having a few good ones e.g. Ais Wallenstein "Sword Princess" or Riveria "Nine Hells" and even Lefiya's "Thousand Elf" There's a list of many of them (https://danmachi.fandom.com/wiki/Aliases here), with various levels of badassery.

* In ''LightNovel/LogHorizon'', Shiroe is known as the Villain in Glasses for his being a master [[TheStrategist strategist]] in not just battle, but social manipulation to the point where most of the Akiba Adventurers consider him a MagnificentBastard, and, well, [[CaptainObvious he wears glasses.]]

* Basically everybody who is anybody in ''LightNovel/{{Overlord}}'' has some kind of badass title, [[AllThereInTheManual usually given in the character's profile]]. Main character Momonga has the rather long and unwieldy "[[TheArchmage The Strongest Magic Caster]], [[DemBones With The Appearance Of A Skeleton]]", though within the New World, he eventually acquires a much more condensed and widely used title: "[[SorcerousOverlord The Sorcerer King]]". He is also known as "[[BlackKnight The Raven-Black Hero]]" in his guise as the adventurer Momon.

* ''LightNovel/SagaOfTanyaTheEvil'': [[EnfantTerrible Tanya Degurechaff]] is known by several titles which strike fear into those unlucky enough to share the battlefield with her: "The White Silver", "Mad Dog", and "The Devil of the Rhine". ** In ''LightNovel/SwordArtOnlineAlternativeGunGaleOnline'' small, fast [=LLENN=] gets the nickname "Pink Devil" as an infamous Player Killer clad all in pink hanging out in a pink-tinged desert.

** Anime/DragonBallSuper gives us the assassin Hit, known as Hit the Infallible or Never-Miss Hit.
** Super also introduces Jiren, strongest mortal in the multiverse, known by the title Jiren the Gray

*** Though, given the reputation the battle of Ishval has in the world of FMA and Roy's actions in it, the title "Hero of Ishval" may also double as TheButcher. The soldiers in his company who initially bestowed the title on him meant it to be an honor, but many of his foes (especially the homunculi) often invoke it to claim a NotSoDifferentRemark and the title is sure to come up in any HannibalLecture. Roy himself seems to hold the latter view, Case in point being that a homunculi bringing it up in conversation with Roy is an indicator that he/she/it is about to be [[PlayingWithFire terminated]] [[BerserkButton with]] [[CurbStompBattle Extreme Prejudice]].
