* AngstWhatAngst: Whereas Fitz is totally off his nut with guilt for his life as the Doctor, May is good to go.

* SenseFreak: Aida showed a bit of sensory overload at the end of the last episode, but she really dials it UpToEleven in this one. She really wasn't prepared to feel pain.

* AdultFear: Fitz trying to talk down Aida, who is [[LoveHungry unstable]] and [[StalkerWithACrush obsessed with him]].

* RealityEnsues: Talbot says the bomb that blew up the Playground from "Self-Control" put twelve agents in the hospital.

* NotSoDifferent: Fitz realizes that he's not so different from Ward -- all it took was an evil father figure to strip away any goodness and empathy from him. His depression causes him to miss the obvious point: that they both had to be manipulated into full-on villainy (as proved by Framework Ward, who was recruited by Victoria Hand instead of John Garrett, and became more or less a hero).

** May snarks that she should have stayed in [[Recap/AgentsOfSHIELDS4E11WakeUp the spa]].

* LargeHam: After over a season as the emotionless Aida or coldly pragmatic Madame Hydra, Mallory Jansen gets to cut loose as Aida experiences the full range of human emotion. Mostly negative ones, unfortunately.

* MauveShirt: Agent Prince and Davis, who got some amount of characterization throughout the season, are killed by Ophelia. The former is killed with NeckSnap, the latter is killed with unknown method of InTheBack as the scene [[GoryDiscretionShot cuts away]], which turns out to be completely averted during the next season as it is shown that Davis survived his encounter.

** Ivanov [to Aida] "We both know there are things beyond this universe, and you may, in fact, be one of them." Hinting that Aida may become a version of [[ComicBook/SecretWars the Beyonder]].

* MauveShirt: Agent Prince and Davis, who got some amount of characterization throughout the season, are killed by Ophelia. The former is killed with NeckSnap, the latter is killed with unknown method of InTheBack as the scene [[GoryDiscretionShot cuts away]].

* NewPowersAsThePlotDemands:

* ArbitrarySkepticism: You'd think that Talbot has by now realized in what kind of [[Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse a crazy, supernatural world]] he lives and be a little more willing to believe Coulson's story.

* ButForMeItWasTuesday: May doesn't recognize Ivanov as one of the mooks she beat up in a mission that took place twenty-plus years previously any more than Coulson did. Bonus points for being played by Creator/MingNaWen, participant to [[Film/StreetFighter the original]] TropeNamer.

* CardboardPrison: Even through she's put in what it's said to be a TailorMadePrison for Inhumans, it only took Aida a second to get out of it. They failed to anticipate her having multiple powers.

* DragonWithAnAgenda: Ivanov makes it clear that he only ever followed Aida's command for his own gains and because of his LMD restrictions. Now that he is free, he flat-out refuses to stop going after Team Coulson when Aida tries to appeal to him. After she comes back out for the team's blood again, they now seem to have [[BigBadDuumvirate formed a more equal partnership]].

* HeroWithBadPublicity: S.H.I.E.L.D. ''again''. The explosion at the Playground attracted the attention of the government, who found quite a few destroyed [=LMDs=] and several injured agents. The small handful of agents uncounted for are labeled as suspected terrorists and since Daisy is among them, her powers are seen the likely cause of the mess. Also, after Mace's death, Aida and Ivanov arranged it so that his body would be found in such a way implicating Daisy as his killer. This is why the plane couldn't refuel or recharge. Now Talbot has no idea who to trust because anyone could be a robot.

* PsychopathicManchild: What becoming human (or Inhuman?) turns Aida into is crazy and immature. While she has the capacity for reasonable and rational thought like an adult, her new emotions are as intense and unrefined as a baby's. When Fitz admits that he is still in love with Jemma, Aida screams and thrashes around like SpoiledBrat being told "No" for the first time.

** Just when Ivanov taunts Coulson about not being able to hide behind his S.H.I.E.L.D. he gets his face cut off... by Coulson's energy shield.
** Coulson wonders why Ivanov won't simply flood the place to kill them. The next minute, exactly this happens.
* TenderTears/ ManlyTears: Towards the end of the episode, Fitz and Jemma both openly cry over everything that happened to them during the Framework storyline.

* VillainHasAPoint: As sadistic as Ivanov's rebuttal was, he's right in that Aida, still being new to her own humanity, can't fully process complex emotions like regret, delayed/ no gratification, or even her own empathy.
* VillainousBreakdown: After Fitz rejects her, for the first time ever (well, technically the second time, but the first one was pretty subtle) we see Aida completely lose her cool. It's an absolutely ''terrifying'' sight.
* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman: After returning to the Playground, Team Coulson debate on what to do with Aida. Daisy and Coulson think she can be rehabilited after saving Mack, while Jemma and Yo-Yo argue that they should put her down (Yo-Yo even offers to decapitate her [[CallBack like before]]). May ultimately says that there has been enough killing, settling the matter. Then Aida goes crazy after Fitz chooses Jemma over Aida, making killing her the only option left.

** Aida having the powers of a lot of Inhumans makes her similar to Marvel characters like [[ComicBook/FantasticFour Super-Skrull]], [[ComicBook/XMen Mimic]] and the [[ComicBook/TheAvengers Super-Adaptoid]]. Also, Ivanov tells Aida "We both know there are things beyond this universe, and you may, in fact, be one of them." which hints that Aida may become [[ComicBook/SecretWars the Beyonder]].

* BigNo: Aida lets out a string of epic ones after Fitz tells her that he choose Jemma over her.

* DarkestHour: Team Coulson is on the run from both the military and Aida, Yo-Yo has jumped into the Framework to try and bring Mack back, Fitz's mental state is at its lowest, and Aida is a psychologically unstable PhysicalGod planning to turn the real world into one similar to the Framework with Ivanov. [[HesBack And then, light comes in the form of]] [[ComicBook/GhostRider a flaming skull]]...

* MadeOfIron: While the Ivanov LMD's don't have the SuperStrength Aida had, they sure as hell can take a lot of punishment.

* MookHorrorShow: Aida is this for the U.S. soldiers and S.H.I.E.L.D. agents after going on her rampage.

* NotGoodWithRejection: Aida/Ophelia, after Fitz doesn't return her love.
* NotSoDifferent: Fitz realizes that he's not so different from Ward -- all it took was an evil father figure to strip away any goodness and empathy from him. * VillainousBreakdown: After Fitz rejects her, for the first time ever (well, technically the second time, but the first one was pretty subtle) we see Aida completely lose her cool. And it's an absolutely ''terrifying'' sight.

* DoubleMeaning: When Ophelia threatens Fitz that they will build a life together, she either meant that they will build a new life as a couple of husband and wife.... or she intended to rape him to procreate and ''literally'' create a life.

* DarkestHour: Team Coulson is on the run from both the military and Aida, Yo-Yo has jumped into the Framework to try and bring Mack back, Fitz's mental state is at its lowest, and Aida is a psychologically unstable PhysicalGod planning to turn the real world into one similar to the Framework with Ivanov. Truly, this is Team Coulson's DarkestHour yet. [[HesBack And then, light comes in the form of]] [[ComicBook/GhostRider a flaming skull]]...

* BigNo: Aida lets out an epic one after Fitz told her that he choose Jemma over her.

** May, once she learns that Aida has escaped and is rampaging throughout the Playground.
