Misuse. The Robyn and Reuben one is a ZCE, the bit about Killgrave's tortures is too general and the one about Jessica and the young girl is just "I dont like this plot point." Someone trying to convince a child of their parents wrong-doing is Truth in television and a staple plot point of police procedurals. Nothing in the example states why the drama is so bad it makes the scene funny.

* The way in which Kilgrave carries out his tortures is ''so over-the-top'' that it comes off as almost juvenile and becomes more hilarious rather than seriously horrific.

* Robyn and Ruben, partly because the series never decides if they're supposed to be comic relief or creepy.

* In the pilot of Season 3, Jessica responds to an Amber Alert, confronting, Mitch a man who took his daughter Cassie, away from their mother after losing custody. When Cassie refuses to leave, Jessica tries to convince her with full seriousness that her dad is "the bad guy". While Mitch did kidnap her under legal standards, he clearly loved his daughter and wanted her to be happy. It's laughable that Jessica thought Cassie would be inclined to agree with a total stranger.

* The show awkwardly avoids referencing the Avengers by name, presumably because bringing them up directly would clash with the DarkerAndEdgier tone, so we get stuff like [[Film/TheIncredibleHulk2008 "the big green guy"]] and [[Film/CaptainAmericaTheFirstAvenger "the flag waver."]] Making it worse is that the series was released shortly after ''Series/{{Supergirl|2015}}'' attracted similar derision over its reluctance to refer to Superman by name in its pilot. Plus, the similarly dark ''Daredevil'' had no problem mentioning Cap by name (Foggy saying "I could call myself Captain America, doesn't put wings on my head"). This was thankfully dropped for Season 2, with Oscar's son Vido having a Captain America toy (though out of context, all references to Captain America are phrased in such a way that they could be construed as referring to him as a fictional character).

* When Jessica finally realizes that Kilgrave can’t control her anymore, she has flashbacks to the moments that prove this. This would have been legitimately epic if not for the ''heavy'' [[{{Overcrank}} slow-motion]] effects used during the sequence, which end up just making Kilgrave sound like he’s severely inebriated. “Lettttt goooooo oooooof meeeeee, Jessiiiiicaaaaa!”, “Getttt baaaaack heeeeereeee, Jesiiiicaaa!”, and “NOOOOOOOOWWWWWW, JESSIIIIIIIIICAAAAAAAA!” make these flashbacks too goofy-sounding to take seriously.

* One of Jessica's abilities is a limited form of flight/super jumping. This is represented by Jessica bending her knees and then cutting away to a "whoosh" sound effect. Due to the relatively low budget of the series, it's understandable that they can't show Jessica in full flight, but the absolute minimal effort put into these scenes looks even sillier than the latest seasons of ''Series/LoisAndClark'', in which Superman pretended to launch into flight by swinging his cape and moving to the side of the camera. At least in those scenes, people next to him had the habit of looking up when Superman did that.

* Many sex scenes are, in an effort to keep the show PG-13, filmed in a very awkward and unsexy manner. It's especially bad when Jessica or her partner have lifeless expressions during the uh, climax of activity.

First entry is too general and uses Weasel Words. Last example doesn't say what's funny.

* For some people, the sheer amount of melodrama in the show is ''so'' exaggerated that sometimes it's difficult to take it seriously.
* Similarly, the way in which Kilgrave carries out his tortures is ''so over-the-top'' that it comes off as almost juvenile and becomes more hilarious rather than seriously horrific.

* Trish doing a ridiculous Alex Jones style rant because one of her guests is talking about Gluten while wearing a third-rate hotel bellhop.

* Everything about the scene with [[MythologyGag the Whizzer]]. Special Effect Failure. "Thing falls flat" misuse.

* During a scene where Kilgrave is forcing two people to keep their eyes open, one of the actors just couldn't keep from blinking through a whole shot.

* When Kilgrave claims that he has never killed anyone, Jessica delivers the very silly, comic book-ish line "You use you '''powers''' to compel '''murder'''!" with a totally straight face.

* Kilgrave orders a man to put a pair of gardening shears in his mouth and fall forward, forcing the shears through the back of his skull. Horrific? Yes. Then Jessica checks his pulse despite the fact he has ''metal shears sticking out the back of his head''. That could be a case of RealityIsUnrealistic, given people have horrifically survived suicide attempts using firearms with a chunk of the back of their head missing.
