When someone is woken up abruptly while in this state, it can also be an example of NakedPeopleAreFunny or an InconvenientSummons. Can sometimes lead to DiningInTheBuff if someone chooses to get a MidnightSnack or make breakfast without getting dressed, or a FullFrontalAssault if attacked in their sleep.

* ''Film/{{Anon}}''. The police are able to hack into the eye implants of the anonymous female hacker and try to work out where she lives. At one point she strips off and looks at herself in a full-length mirror before going to bed. Turns out there was a clue reflected in the mirror, but the detective protagonist was the only one who wasn't DistractedByTheSexy at that point.
* In ''Film/BatmanForever'', when Batman [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJdVyYPiiDg visits]] [[HospitalHottie Dr. Chase Meridian]] (Creator/NicoleKidman) in her bedroom, it's heavily implied that she's naked [[ModestyBedsheet except for her bedsheet]].
* ''Film/CatGirl'' (1957). In her family's OldDarkHouse, Leonora -- played by Creator/BarbaraShelley -- is awakened by the old CreepyHousekeeper, with ModestyBedsheet and ToplessnessFromTheBack emphasizing that Leonora sleeps nude. Her [[CreepyFamily uncle]] needs to speak to Leonora immediately, and the housekeeper passes a dressing gown to her. Cut to a SexyDiscretionShot on Leonora's shadow as she dresses, leading to the housekeeper complimenting Leonora on the beautiful woman she's grown into.
* ''Film/Daredevil2003'': The titular protagonist seems to do this but in an ice-filled coffin instead. After a ([[FanDisservice not so]] [[CoveredWithScars titillating]]) ShowerScene he proceeds to sleep in said makeshift bed.

While pajamas or underwear are the most commonly depicted garments worn for sleep, it's also not uncommon to depict a person [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin wearing nothing to bed at all.]] While this is TruthInTelevision, media often treat this as shocking or exotic, with the character who does it being portrayed as an oddball for doing so, and they're often comically opinionated about the superiority of their sleeping habit if questioned, often mentioning health or comfort benefits.

** [[ComicBook/HumanTorch Johnny Storm]] sleeps in the nude, he claims due to heightened body temperature thanks to his fire powers. Peter discovers this when he lets Johnny crash at the Baxter Building (currently the home of Parker Industries) and finds Johnny asleep in his bed. And the only thing Johnny has to cover himself with is Peter's [[HandOrObjectUnderwear pillow]]. Peter is definitely not amused.

* [[AnythingThatMoves Zig Zag]] from ''Webcomic/SabrinaOnline'' usually does this. Zig Zag puts on some racy underwear instead to make Sabrina more comfortable when they share a hotel room.

* In ''ComicBook/{{Runaways}}'', Victor Mancha prefers to sleep naked, which makes things very awkward for Chase when he decides to have a late-night chat with him.

Sometimes used to illustrate the setting, such as a depiction of a period before sleepwear became mainstream, or character, as in showing a person [[NoNudityTaboo prefers not to wear clothes]] at [[HomeNudist home at all]] or has other traits to them that make sleepwear either unnecessary or in some way a hindrance. Sometimes the characters simply don't have any clothes to spare, and sleeping without clothes is a sign of a dire situation or even poverty, similar to a BankruptcyBarrel.

* Near the end of ''Winter of Fire'' by Sherryl Jordan, the protagonist wakes up [[LikeBrotherAndSister her male friend]] after having a EurekaMoment:

* Done by Flay Allster from ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEED'' twice. First after [[BedmateReveal the reveal that she had sex with Kira]]. Then much later after she's abducted by enemy faction ZAFT, she's seen sleeping naked with her Earth Alliance uniform hanging on a chair, and she's dressed in ZAFT uniform in her subsequent scenes.
* ''Literature/MobileSuitGundamHathawaysFlash'': Gigi Andalucia is shown sleeping naked with a robe nearby to cover herself when she wakes up.

* ''Anime/DancougarNova'': FashionModel Aoi is shown to sleep naked in episode 2 when she wakes up in a CatapultNightmare, with a ModestyBedsheet covering all important bits. Riruri calls in her VideoPhone moments later, and finds it odd that Aoi disabled the video feed, with the ensuing dialogue being a clear reference to the Creator/MarilynMonroe "Chanel No. 5" ad campaign.

* At one point in ''Film/FarewellMyQueen'', Sidonie Laborde [[EatingTheEyeCandy watches]] Gabrielle de Polignac (Creator/VirginieLedoyen) while she is sleeping naked.

* One episode of ''Series/That70sShow'' makes a RunningGag of it. Red is forced to wake up Eric in the middle of the night and is disgusted when he answers the door wrapped in nothing but a blanket. (Eric later admits to his friends that yeah, he does this [[ADateWithRosiePalms for the exact reason that they suspect]].) The episode ends with Red loudly waking him up again and saying that he's going to keep doing this until Eric starts wearing clothes to bed.
