* Whatever your opinions on Creator/LRonHubbard, for better or worse he was undeniably a significant figure in both science fiction and the broader American culture. [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_of_Scientology The religion he founded]] sanctifies him to this day. And yes, he had red hair and green eyes. [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Parsons Jack Parsons]], a rocket scientist and Creator/AleisterCrowley protégé with whom Hubbard lived for a few years, incidentally was fascinated with red hair to the point of believing his red-haired, albeit ''blue''-eyed, second wife ([[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marjorie_Cameron Marjorie "Candy" Cameron]]) to be a divine or angelic figure previously described to him by Hubbard, who'd envisioned the entity as a beautiful red-haired woman. A few days before meeting Candy, Parsons and Hubbard had performed sex magic to summon the being.

I asked on the Is This An Example? thread because the trope description states World Of Technolour Hair works are ineligible and this is one of those works; the response I received pointed out that the entry does even state why the red hair and green eyes are connected to the plot significance. In this case, her red hair is plot significant because it's part of her Achilles connection (which foreshadows her fate), but her eye colour is irrelevant to her plot significance. I've therefore removed the entry on two grounds: the World Of Technicolour Hair problem and the fact her green eyes do not factor into her plot significance.

Green eyes are rarer than blue eyes — except on redheads. BLUE-eyed redheads are actually the rarest combination.

Green-eyed redheads are possibly the rarest color combination found in humanity (with the exception of some abnormalities), making a character with this combination highly conspicuous. The fact that red and green are [[RedGreenContrast complementary colors]] also makes for a visually striking appearance. Therefore, this trope is used as an easy way to distinguish an important, notable character visually.
