* The ''term'' MarySue actually comes from [[http://www.fortunecity.com/rivendell/dark/1000/marysue.htm a parody of Sues]] in ''StarTrek''.

If you come across a piece of blatant Sueishness in fanfiction and feel [[SnarkBait the need for some justified cruelty]], it can be wiser (or at least, fun) to assume that it's a parody. If you're right, you're right, and if you're wrong, you've insulted the author far more than any accusation of poor writing ever could.

* ''MarySueAcademy'' is about a school for Mary Sues, and is appropriately full of these.

* [[spoiler:Erika Furudo]] in ''UminekoNoNakuKoroNi'' is a [[BlackHoleSue Black Hole]] FixerSue of an AmateurSleuth who ''[[ContrivedCoincidence just so happens]]'' to wash up on Rokkenjima so [[spoiler:Bernkastel has her own piece when she takes over the anti-fantasy side of the game]]. She proceeds to wander around being an insufferable [=~Bitch In Sheep's Clothing~=], attempts to supplant the protagonist, [[spoiler:helps Battler find the gold just to make the chaos worse, and frames Natsuhi for the murders.]] She's basically [[spoiler:Bern's]] [[SelfInsertFic self-insert Sue]], and she's virulently loathed by both the fanbase and ''the other characters''.
** ... So where's the parody?
** The reaction is the exact opposite of that to a normal Sue. Instead of being loved, she's hated. (She's not a Jerk/Anti-sue, as her actions are treated as villainous. She calls herself an "Intellectual rapist", and Battler notes she has a "bad personality".
*** But isn't that a deconstruction?
* The most powerful weapon in ''SoulEater'' is Excalibur, a sword that can turn any Meister into one of the greatest meisters of all times (a loser meister uses it to defeat three of the top students). His also obnoxious, having 1,000 provisions that a person must follow, calls everyone a fool, and constantly talks about how awesome he is. The result is that no one can actually stand him enough to use him. The poor fairies that live in the same cave as him.

* This ''HarryPotter'' [[http://piratemonkeysinc.com/ms1.htm fan comic]] introduces the nickname of "House Sparklypoo" for Sues within the HarryPotter fandom.

* ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1788274/1/JUST_THE_BEST_MARY_SUE_EVER Just the Best Mary Sue Ever]]'' is possibly the jewel of this trope in the fandom for ''TheLeagueOfExtraordinaryGentlemen''. The author, Bamfwriter, deliberately set out to create a character about whom she could answer "yes" to every question on the LXG Mary Sue Litmus Test. The entire first chapter is little more than a description of her improbable beauty. The rest of the story includes a lot of sex (including a five-way), some swearing, two characters coming back from the dead, and a cameo by HarryPotter.

** Given that he came from out of town, he kinda sounds more like a parody/deconstruction of TheMinnesotaFats.
*** He fills a Minnesota Fats role, but the fact that he is literally better than ''everyone'' at ''everything'', and leaves when he's called by the Secret Service to help the President pushes him out of the realm of a mundane Minnesota Fats and into MartyStu territory.

* DJ Croft from the infamous ''NeonExodusEvangelion''. He's the bastard son of Lara Croft and Agent Mulder; has had more adventuring under his belt than Indiana Jones... and is an Evangelion pilot, but not just any Eva: He's the pilot of Unit 01, after Shinji wussed out. He also bangs Asuka, helps hook Rei up with a boyfriend, and gets everyone to love and adore him; eventually including the likes of Gendo Ikari, who only hated him because he was possessed by demons/aliens. Oh, and he's the reincarnation of the immortal soldier Longinus. Yes, that Longinus. He also is Lucifer's buddy. (They have a little blues band, Lucifer plays guitar, DJ plays Harmonica.) The author admitted that he is meant as a {{parody}}[=/=]{{deconstruction}} of the MartyStu archetype. Pretty much everyone suspects this was a desperate ParodyRetcon, but [[YourMileageMayVary some people back him]].

* One episode of ''{{My Wife and Kids}}'' has Betty White guest-star as a MaryPoppins-like housekeeper who can do anything perfectly, and in doing so elicits an awed "... Wow..." from everyone around her.

* Fraziska Von Karma from ''PhoenixWrightAceAttorney''. Daughter of the previous game's BigBad -- Check. LikeBrotherAndSister relationship with TheRival from the last game -- Check. Gets away with physically assaulting any and all law enforcement officers and even using illegal evidence in court -- Check. 18 years old lawyer who started her illustrious career at 13 -- Check. SoYeah. Beating her is a big TakeThat at the typical MarySue that Edgeworth fangirls tend to use in their self-insert fics. Also in case 4 of ''Investigations'' a couple of the people she tries to intimidate [[NotNowKiddo either shrug her off or laugh at her]]. [[ButtMonkey So she just takes it out on Edgeworth and Gumshoe.]]

*** I remember that episode. In a last-ditch effort to beat him at ''something'', Sebastian challenges him to pretty much tell Sebastian's life story. The old acquaintance not only does so, in perfect detail, (which, in itself is pretty damn creepy) but also manages to mix a heaping helping of [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech The Reason Sebastian Sucks]] while doing so. Cue the FlatWhat from everyone. Including the viewers.

* Poochie on TheSimpsons is, arguably, a good example of a Stu character played as a parody of new characters who are just stuck into stories and then they annoy the fans. But the reason Poochie annoys the fans isn't just because he's new, it's because of his Gary Stu traits. He comes in with a whole rap song about why he's so cool, Itchy and Scratchy's usually violently comedic characters are derailed into oohing and ahhing over him, and he throws the story off course to show off how cool he is (cue Milhouse moaning "When are they going to get to the fireworks factory?!"). Also, like with many Gary Stu type characters, the fans are annoyed by him, except for his voice actor, Homer, who acts like a fan who is overly protective of their MarySue character. Homer's idea of how to improve the show is to make Poochie louder, angrier, have access to a time machine, and to make the other characters say "Where's Poochie?" when he's not on-screen, which could also go under the ShillingTheWesley trope. I've at least used Poochie and his role in the episode as an example of a MarySue character to explain the concept to others, and also to explain why such characters annoy many fans/readers so much.
