There's also a section of ''Teacher of the Aura'' where Hunter and Lucario both help each other out when fighting an Ariados. Hunter heals Lucario after he's poisoned, and Lucario helps Hunter after he's injured by the Ariados.

* GenreSavvy: Deoxys leaves its clones to try and finish the job when Hunter tries to goad it into facing him itself. It also kidnaps Taren, thinking that Hunter won't fight it when it's controlling Taren's body.

* KilledOffForReal: Lucario.

* TheObiWan: Again, Lucario and Hunter.

* IGotBetter: Hunter.

* BadassAbnormal: Hunter, aside from the powers, is a regular kid.

* DidNotDoTheResearch: Done for dramatic purposes or because of [[TheyJustDidntCare lack of caring]], such as Lucario being affected by Poison-type moves (Steel-types are resistant to poison) and a kid's pet Gastly being able to lick the kid silly with no negative effects. The first is actually remarked on by a reviewer. Hunter's Umbreon is also able to use ''Flash Cannon'', which it can't learn in the games.

* DefeatMeansFriendship: Averted ''hard'' in the main plot. Basically, if you hurt Hunter or his friends, you will die. The Aggron from ''Journey to Gracidea'' and Deoxys are only two instances.
