* CasualDangerDialog: At DOATEC Paris, Hitomi pretty much stops the fight with Dante to trash Jann Lee about beating up the T-Rex in ''Dead or Alive 4'' to [[UngratefulBastard save her]]. This leads to a small argument until Dante reminds them that he's still there and they're supposed to be fighting.

* AsskickingEqualsAuthority: Vergil took control of most of his demons by defeating them.

* ArmorPiercingSlap: A rare female-on-female example in [[spoiler: chapter 6]]; when Kasumi addresses Ayane as "sister" while trying to reason with her, she sets off Ayane's BerserkButton and gets slapped silly for it. Kasumi is so conflicted and saddened over it that she has to fight back tears and hides her face in Dante's coat sleeve.

The fic was on hiatus for years until a new chapter was posted on August 6th, 2018.

* NotSoDifferent: Dante compares Ayane to Vergil early on, and [[spoiler: during the aforementioned MindRape seduction scene, recognizes Ayane's feelings of isolation and need for love as feelings that he himself dealt with as a child.]] Furthermore, [[spoiler: Gentleman remarks to Ayame that Dante and Vergil both share the same mentality and dislike of their mixed-species heritage, the only difference between the two being that Dante fights to protect others.]]

* AdaptationalBadass: Hayate has a considerably more impressive track record than his canon counterpart. He single handedly kills a Damned Shogun, fends off Bolverk's minions, holds his own against Dante and saves Ryu from Doku, with the two taking the demon samurai out together.

* FlamingSword: Vergil gains a flaming katana thanks to [[spoiler:Doku turning into a Devil Arm for him.]]

* PoweredArmor: While rescuing their mother, Kasumi and Ayane face off against a bunch of EliteMooks using this, and it's only thanks to Trish that they get out alive.

** SenselessSacrifice: Also doubles as this, because [[spoiler: Ayane was playing possum and about to pull off AHandfulForAnEye before Yuri stepped in. His death results in quite a bit of SurvivorGuilt for Ayane]].

* OutlivingOnesOffspring: [[spoiler: Yuri's older brother had previously perished during the Mugen Tenshin's assault on the DOATEC Tri-Towers, and when Yuri dies as well during the demon attack on the village, Yuri's mother, now completely alone, is reduced to a near-catatonic state.]]

* DepravedBisexual: Played with in regards to Christie. She tries to rape Helena in chapter 19 and mentions having seduced and killed a woman once whom she found attractive. However, the last bit is said to be a lie and her hitting on Helena is stated to be more about trolling her than any actual attraction to her.

** Sparda actually entrusted one of the [[ArtifactOfDoom jewels that Vergil and Donovan are after]] to the Mugen Tenshin Clan twenty years before the events of the fic; [[spoiler: Shiden had it made into a [[HairDecorations Kanoko Dome]] and gave it to Ayame as an anniversary gift.]]

* BadassGrandpa: Gen Fu.

* BashBrothers: A female example. When Ayane and Kasumi work together in a fight and coordinate, they're quite a deadly force.

* CrossOver: Between ''VideoGame/DeadOrAlive'' and ''VideoGame/DevilMayCry'', duh.

* InvulnerableKnuckles: Inverted. While defending Mei Lin from demons attacking Gen Fu's temple, Eliot ends up breaking several fingers.

* BareFistedMonk: Many rely entirely or mostly on unarmed combat. Most notable is Gen Fu and his [[SupernaturalMartialArts "Fatal Iron Fists"]] technique.
