90% of mankind vanished without a trace for 23 hours. The things we believed to be Fictional appeared in their stead. The battles that followed devastated the world.

And once the 23 hours ended, mankind came back, adapted to this new world, willing to embrace the Fictions with open arms... something that many of those who survived the "23 Hours of Madness" are not willing to accept, nor take lying down.

* AliensInCardiff: Multiple examples, some because of things like elements of a Fictional franchise appearing on places where it was filmed (such as Hardwick, New Jersey being terrorized by [[Film/FridayThe13th Jason Voorhees]]), some because of the thematic irony (most if not all Elm Streets on the planet getting plagued by [[Film/ANightmareOnElmStreet Freddy Krueger]], with some managing to keep him away by changing their names, and some... not being that lucky, or Robot Hell being underneath Ride/ActionPark), some just because (such as UsefulNotes/CostaRica getting a pocket dimension over on the province of [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guanacaste_Province Guanacaste]] that hosts [[Anime/{{Naruto}} the Hidden Village of Konoha]]).

** The first draft of the OpeningNarration was essentially a modified version of the TabletopGame/Warhammer40000 opening narration ("In the Grim Darkness Of The Dark Future, there is Only War"). It still has some of its feeling remaining.
