Blizzard decided to mock the accusers back by releasing a shirt looking like this, and then going even further and creating a level in the actual game with the same theme - see the SugarApocalypse entry.

** It's generally regarded that even art style aside, Diablo 3 has a much lighter tone than its predecessor. It's not that nothing dark, sinister, or tragic happens in the game. But rather a combination of factors. first is that the main villains for most of the games are the last two remaining Lesser evils. Try as they might, Azmodan and Belial are lower on the SortingAlgorithmOfEvil than the Prime Evils of the first 2 games and do not carry the same threat. This is further lessened by their use InformedAttribute. Belial is supposed to be a master deceiver but his true identity is patently obvious. To the point where the main character reveals it on their own. Azmodan is supposed to be a master strategist but he constantly tells you what his next plan is and never scores any significant victory. They come off as ineffectual villains and not sinister unstoppable corruptive forces of evil like Diablo and his siblings did in the first 2 games. Lastly, the game spends a lot of dialogue building up the player character as this unstoppable killing machine, feared by heaven and hell both. Characters constantly remark about how great and powerful the Nephalem is. Practically treating them like a super hero, which leads to the overall feeling of hopelessness or desperation that permeated the first two games to be largely absent from Diablo 3. Reaper Of Souls makes an attempt to fix this, by largely taking place in a city that's being devastated by the reapers and burned to the ground. Blizzard in turn would indirectly admit to the lighter tone by emphasizing in pre-release material how VideoGame/DiabloIV would feature a return to a much darker tone than 3.

** Patch 2.6 added in an ability for each hireling that saves the player from death when they hit zero HP. This ability causes the player to gain a few seconds of MercyInvincibility (Templar), momentarily disappear to escape (Scoundrel), or knock back enemies to give some breathing room (Enchantress). Each of these skills has a 120-second cooldown, and cooldown reduction doesn't affect it, so a player can't just hope for their hireling to save them every time.

** Imperius embodies this trope, not caring about mortals in the slightest. He was the main agitator among the Council for extermination of humanity, and since Malthael, the Aspect of Wisdom, was absent from the Council, his vote was counted against humanity in absentia, with Auriel and Itherael voting for humanity's survival. Tyrael's final vote thus saved humanity from annihilation.
** In general, Angels in Sanctuary falls into two camps. On one side, there's the tolerant or more believing in humanity and their potential (such as Tyrael, Auriel, Itherael and ). On the other side, there's the extremely short-sighted, concluding that they're all evil abominations on the first sight that they have demon bloods (Malthael and Imperius), or just seeing some bad examples of humanity and then generalizes that they're all like those bad examples (Urzael). The game has shown that there have been more tolerant Angels. However, the intolerant ones tend to have high position, so people mostly takes Angel's 'faces' based on the intolerant ones and overall painting a negative light on them. Not to mention, the Angels' goal to win the Eternal Conflict is to rule over creation on their own design of order, so the Angels used to be this until Inarius did his stitch, then Uldyssian impressed the tolerant Angels.

Since this is the Diablo universe, the Coven has turned the Halls into a site for HumanSacrifice and ColdBloodedTorture of their many victims, with all the horrificness that this implies, and the place is loaded with undead and demons for you to kill in addition to the cultists, as well as the ghosts of those who were put through hell and executed down there back when Leoric was still alive and insane.

** A second form of NewGamePlus called "Adventure Mode" is unlocked after beating Act V. It's a sort of OpenWorldSandbox mode where the emphasis is on acquiring loot over everything else. Rather than replay through the Acts over and over, Adventure Mode unlocks all the waypoints in every Act and allows the player to hunt down bounties, which are tasks to complete such as killing tough monsters or surviving certain world events. Upon completing enough bounties, the player can enter a Nephalem Rift, a challenging randomized dungeon that contains a huge amount of loot at the end. Completing enough of these rifts opens the door to Greater Nephalem Rifts, which are timed challenge dungeons that ask you to clear them as fast as possible. Clearing them fast enough unlocks the Urshi vendor, who will let you upgrade your Legendary Gems for a price.

** It's possible to subvert the level requirement with the Gem of Ease, which sets the required level of anything it's socketed in to 1, provided the Gem of Ease has reached level 25. Since this also gives a flat experience boost per enemy kill, using the equipment with a level 1 character will have them jump twenty or thirty levels in the span of a few minutes.
* LevelScaling: After patch 2.0, the monsters' stats are based on your level (or the host's level, if you're in a multiplayer game, which can be exploited to level up new characters very fast if you have a friend who can do some Twinking), which means they increase as you level up. They don't catch up to your gear improvement, though, and there are skills, passives and items that can only be used at higher levels, so LowLevelAdvantage is averted in this regard.

** In general, Angels in Sanctuary falls into either tolerant or more believing in humanity and their potential (such as Tyrael, Auriel, Itherael and ) or extremely short-sighted, concluding that they're all evil abominations on the first sight that they have demon bloods (Malthael and Imperius) or just seeing some bad examples of humanity and then generalizes that they're all like those bad examples (Urzael). The game has shown that there have been more tolerant Angels. However, the intolerant ones tend to have high position, so people mostly takes Angel's 'faces' based on the intolerant ones and overall painting a negative light on them. Not to mention, the Angels' goal to win the Eternal Conflict is to rule over creation on their own design of order, so the Angels used to be 100% this until Inarius did his stitch, then Uldyssian impressed the tolerant Angels.
