** Creator/LaurenFaust has stated that Prince Blueblood is Celestia's (very) distant nephew on her mother's side. Here, Blueblood is Celestia's adoptive nephew, having been come into her care after Celestia learned about his [[DarkAndTroubledPast emotionally abusive upbringing]].
** Prince Léon was introduced as Celestia's very young cousin in a French [=MLP=] magazine. Here, he's her grandnephew via adoption by Prince Blueblood as his son (though Léon is technically Blueblood's "biological" son via a magical karmic backlash from his good deeds), with the "cousin" part being explained as an in-universe translation error in Prance.

** Prince Blueblood's entry notes that he and his family are blood descendants of Princess Platinum, with the most obvious sign of their heritage being their tall heights, when no such connections were apparent in canon. And while he's still Celestia's nephew, here he's explicitly stated to be adopted after Celestia discovered the sheer amount of emotional/psychological abuse Blueblood's birth parents were inflicting on him.
** Prince Léon was a one-bit character who only appeared in a French ''My Little Pony'' magazine as Celestia's young Alicorn "cousin", yet his heavy resemblance to Blueblood is not explained. Here, he's technically Blueblood's biological "son", having been magically created as a karmic backlash to all of Blueblood's good deeds.

* RousseauWasRight: This is essentially the Vertusians' philosophy of "[[https://www.deviantart.com/comments/1/787594426/4932929594 True Good]]". To simplify it, the Vertusians believe that all sapient creatures are born inherently good, and that circumstances and corruption, not [[HobbesWasRight one's own nature]], are what makes them turn to evil. While still possessing emotions like desire, followers of True Good pursue their desires and help others with theirs without needing to exploit them or expect a reward in return, respectively. "[[NecessarilyEvil Constructive Evil]]" is considered part of True Good because it involves directing one's worst flaws/impulses towards positive ends, like punishing the genuinely wicked. The goal of the Vertusians, up to [[GodOfGood Virtucrat Fairytale]] herself, is to recreate the world at large into a {{Utopia}} where no one has no need for evil even for constructive purposes, even though Fairytale genuinely does not wish those who practice Constructive Evil any harm. However, True Good ends up deconstructed in light of [[BalanceBetweenGoodAndEvil how the world works]] - the world not only cannot exist without evil, it ''[[GoodNeedsEvil needs]]'' evil in order to continue surviving, let alone function properly. And by implication, True Good calls for the eradication of all evils, which includes beings like Temnobog, who, [[spoiler:due to being the living bisected half of High King Bogolenya]], literally cannot live without his twin brother, Belyolen, as one would die if the other dies. The Vertusians themselves are at a loss in regards to replacing evil with a better alternative, and it's through the existence of [[{{Mordor}} Malrègnar]] that they are able to continue existing at all without massive consequences. However, it's reconstructed as True Good ''does'' have truth to it - the fact that all sapient creatures are born with the ability to choose to be evil yet are naturally inclined to be good [[spoiler:implies that there are higher forces at work who ''wanted'' the world to function that way... and that whoever created ''those'' higher forces is ultimately ''the'' BigGood of ''the entire setting'']].

* RapidAging: Deities are a positive example. Because deities in the Codexverse get StrongerWithAge, there are instances where a deity physically ages ''far past'' their designated age/rank as a result of certain factors. Said factors can range from absorbing huge amounts of magic (as what happened to Queen Aoide Mousikós and Princess Arcus), to having their divine natures completely altered (as what happened to Moon Ray Vaughoof/Prince Canticum Lunae Cahaya; only by reaching an epiphany and coming to terms with himself was his condition stabilized) or [[spoiler:becoming the divine avatar of a concept that the entire galaxy needs/believes in (as what happened to Diamond Tiara/Queen Elpis)]].

** [[TabletopGame/Warhammer40000 The Emperor of Mankind]]'s Primarch sons were created through advanced technology and science, making him their TrulySingleParent. Here, Golden Scepter sired his sons naturally with a mortal Pegasus mare, [[HappilyMarried whom he dearly loved]]. However, DecompositeCharacter is at play since the Terran Princes are based on the Primarchs' positive aspects, whereas their Imperium era counterparts, the Golden Generals, are based on the Primarch's dysfunctional aspects and completely unrelated to each other and Golden Scepter.
** Music/StevieRayVaughan was engaged to his beloved girlfriend, Janna Lapidus, at the time of his death. Here, the helicopter accident [[InSpiteOfANail still happened]], but Moon Ray and Velvet Heart (Stevie Ray and Janna's [[NoCelebritiesWereHarmed expies]], respectively) got married in the Heaven-Realms thanks to Velvet Heart's first husband giving them the okay to hook up again.

** [[TabletopGame/Warhammer40000 Emperor Golden Scepter]] is related to ''a lot'' of characters here, usually by adoption.
*** Golden Scepter's immediate children include Phoenix King Naur and his sister Everqueen Naneth (who are based on [[TabletopGame/Warhammer Asuryan and Isha]]), Belyolen and Temnobog ([[Myth/SlavicMythology Belobog and Chernobog]]), and Peachy (a proto-''My Little Pony'' toy called ''My Pretty Pony'' created by Bonnie Zacherle). Peachy is a notable case since she's also ''the first sapient Earthpony mare'' created by Golden Scepter.
*** This also extends to his adoptive grandchildren, many of whom were taken in by the Terran Princes for various reasons like [[AbusiveParents a troubled home life]]. Among them are Mercy (who's based on [[VideoGame/{{Darkstalkers}} Dhylec]]), Rosy Dreams (who's based on [[VideoGame/DreamingMary Mary/Mari]]), Gliding Butterfly (a CompositeCharacter combining [[Series/{{Inazuman}} Goro Watari]] with [[Film/KamenRiderXKamenRiderWizardAndFourzeMovieWarUltimatum Saburo Kazeta]]) and Princess Tiffany/Regina Maiestas Ponyland, wh was one of the First Age's Princess Ponies and Queen Majesty's [[SoleSurvivor last surviving daughter]].
*** Queen Majesty from G1's ''ComicBook/MyLittlePony'' comics is revealed here to be one of Golden Scepter's descendants through [[ReallyGetsAround his many affairs with male/female mortals and divines]], when in canon they had no such relations. Majesty was also Golden Scepter's adoptive daughter in all but name, which makes all of the Princess Ponies, including Princess Tiffany/Regina herself, Golden Scepter's granddaughters by adoption.
*** It's also revealed that Golden Scepter the older brother of the deceased Alicorn Queen Hylia, who's the {{Expy}} of [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSkywardSword the goddess Hylia]], when in canon they aren't related at all. When he meets [[{{Reincarnation}} Radiant Primrose]] from Hyrule, Golden Scepter [[https://www.deviantart.com/comments/1/788128266/4795841971 comments]] that she reminds him so much of Hylia, yet she is different from his sister at the same time.

* ReligionIsRight: Zigzagged. On one hand/hoof, because ''"Codex Equus"'' operates as a ScienceFantasy setting where magic/Metamagnetism is a fundamental force of the universe as gravity, weak/strong nuclear forces and electromagnetism, and could be [[SufficientlyAnalyzedMagic scientifically-understood and quantified]], certain aspects of religions such as miracles, power of faith, the existence of angels and yes, even the gods themselves can be empirically proven to be right - and not to mention, in certain Ages those angels and gods often interact closely with mortals to the point one can know them as personal friends or they directly rule over nations as their sovereigns, making the evidence even more undeniable when one could quite literally walk up to them and ask them about their religion. On the OTHER hand/hoof, many often get other aspects of religion wrong due to mistranslations and misinterpretations, LegendFadesToMyth, corruption by demagogues and demons when the gods are not looking, and other things such that there is still plenty of room for religion to be wrong, at least up until the gods notice the errors and choose to clear things up.

* RealityEnsues: As noted under the CentralTheme trope, while Equus is ultimately a hopeful and fantastical world, NOTHING, not even the gods, can escape the natural and inevitable consequences of certain actions and events however people wishes it was not to be.
** The leadership of the Abyssinian pantheon were JerkassGods who ultimately did nothing to stop the Storm King largely out of spite and the fact he didn't care about who his subjects worshiped. Their worshipers abandon them for more benevolent gods and ultimately the benevolent members of the Pantheon overthrew them. It's mentioned this is normally what happens to JerkassGods, since in this world mortals have a ''lot'' of options, all of which are equally real, so they don't have to put up with the jerks among the gods.
** The Changelings and Dragons have loathed each other for eons and have tried to exterminate the other at least once each. As such, there's a lot of FantasticRacism between them. This makes an extremely toxic environment even in the more benign Spring Court, which has very recently come back to bite them both ''very'' hard due to creating extremely dangerous villains via the psychological damage it's caused.
** Positive example: despite the eons-long blood feud between the Changelings and Dragons, not all of both sides actually buy into it. Apterus's parents didn't care about it, while Puck, Pentatomidae, Zoraptera and Theraphosa didn't view it as right due to being among the most moral of their Court. Pentatomidae made a point in punishing her family for their racism by avoiding them for ''500 years''.
** Choice makes it clear that just because the trio of villains that attempted to destroy the dragons and changelings spawned by their grudge were beaten, this does ''not'' mean that it's over. So long as the CycleOfRevenge continues, such monsters will inevitably follow.
** Various mutations have largely positive versions, but as genetic mutations can be random, there are versions of them with flawed genes that can be detrimental or even deadly.
** Most of the old Orosian gods were little more than irresponsible, arrogant, and spoiled children who constantly caused unnecessary wars and deaths with their petty squabbles and extreme intolerance for disrespect. As a result, they died during the [[{{Gotterdammerung}} Twilight of the Orosian Gods]], an event that was implied to be of their own making.
** High King Irminsul, TopGod of the once-united Elternteil pantheon, emotionally abused Temnobog for being born "evil" despite not having done anything evil while favoring the pure and radiant Belyolen, and encouraged his family and peers to do the same. This not only caused Temnobog to become a genuine GodOfEvil out of misery and resentment for a time, but also drove away Belyolen, who was rightly disgusted with his family's petty and arrogant hypocrisy and left to form his own pantheon so he could get his brother away from him, especially after learning that some of his family members considered killing his dark twin. Irminsul's horrible parenting also attracted the Alicorn Primeval of Self-Love, Amour-De-Soi, who reportedly helped Belyolen and the other Bogolenya deities leave out of similar disgust. And presumably, his views on how to handle the future of Deerkind also partially caused the Elternteil schism, as other divine Deer left to form the Hoyklan pantheon.
** There's a lot of things involving Golden Scepter's many demi-divine sons that get played for realism, which makes them [[CaptainErsatz significantly different]] from their character inspirations, [[TabletopGame/Warhammer40000 the Primarchs]].
*** Written Word's entry notes how he [[ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight defied laws banning religious worship of his family]] out of love for his father and his desire to help others. Golden Scepter had religious worship of him and his sons banned in the first place because it encouraged BlindObedience and religious excess. Even with good intentions, Written Word was still breaking the law, and he could only keep it a secret for so long due to his father embodying Psionics. [[SayingTooMuch He ended up accidentally revealing his secret anyway during a heated argument]], leading to Golden Scepter setting his son straight by deconstructing his motives and telepathically showing him his own memories of his experiences with religion. In addition, his brothers keeping quiet about his religious activities out of love and respect for him got Golden Scepter mad at them because they knew yet didn't tell him about it sooner. Written Word's entry also notes that during his battle against a Demon Queen and her infernal forces, Written Word initially did very badly against them because neither he or the makeshift army he rescued from a CorruptChurch were trained or equipped for such an occasion. The tides turned when Written Word gave a RousingSpeech that somehow magically empowered everyone through faith, much to the demons' shock, and eventually, the demons were defeated and the Demon Queen killed. This heroic act allowed Written Word to [[DeityOfHumanOrigin become an Alicorn]]... then he [[PostVictoryCollapse collapsed]] afterwards from a combination of sheer exhaustion and various untreated injuries. Thankfully, he survives due to prompt medical attention.
*** Fanged Paw's entry deals with his hateful relationship with Crimson Star, one of his younger brothers - Fanged Paw constantly got into violent fights with Crimson Star for being an InsufferableGenius. When he continued bullying Crimson Star after he was blinded and became severely depressed, his brothers ([[BigBrotherInstinct Blazing Hoof in particular]]) reacted with anger and disgust. [[PapaWolf Golden Scepter]] was ''furious'' with Fanged Paw for his actions, and after [[EmotionBomb showing him Crimson Star's emotional torment]], he exiled his son as punishment. Fanged Paw felt so guilty that he accepted his exile without complaint, and had nightmares and hallucinations about what he had done. By the time he was allowed to come back home, Fanged Paw had become an Alicorn as well as [[TookALevelInKindness a much better stallion]] thanks to the CharacterDevelopment he undertook. Fanged Paw's entry also deals with his [[DoesNotLikeMagic distrust of magic in general]] - while his reasons were understandable, his distrust really stemmed from resentment over having [[AntiMagic Disruption magic]] and the social stigma that came with it, so his hatred of Crimson Star for wielding magic made him look like a hypocrite. He would eventually get over this when he practiced his Disruption magic enough for him to get used to it, and Golden Scepter made him continue studying magic despite hating it, resulting in Fanged Paw becoming a skilled magic user even though he is WeakButSkilled compared to some of his magically-inclined brothers. On a hilarious note, after becoming the Alicorn god of War, he had little to no control over his [[MakeMeWannaShout voice powers]], and would suddenly and accidentally end up using them without warning. This caused incidents such as one where his boisterous entry into the palace library caused a large pile of books to topple and fall on Written Word. As a result, after he befriended [[LargeHam Prince Vultus IV and Clamos]], his brothers fear the day when he'll get into a shouting match with either one, or both of them.
*** Steel Barricade's entry deals with the reality of expressing rage in unhealthy ways. When a Scion of Hurricane called him a "[[CategoryTraitor disgrace]]" to the Pegasi tribe, he gave the guy a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown in public for it. While many claimed the Scion [[AssholeVictim deserved it]], it's noted that Steel Barricade's brothers had to separate them before the situation escalated, and Golden Scepter was [[DisappointedInYou rather disappointed]] in his eleventh son for losing his temper, despite having no love for the Scions of Huricane or tribalists in general himself.
** According to a Codexverse writer, Crystal Prism's transformation into a magic-absorbing BlobMonster in his backstory serves as a deconstruction of what happened to his character inspiration, [[Anime/MaryAndTheWitchsFlower Peter]], being subjected to the same fate by well-intentioned yet extremely shady individuals, and then is magically restored with no psychological repercussions at all. Here, Crystal suffered from nightmares as well as PTSD from his stint as a monster and his traumatizing ascension/resurrection into an Alicorn demigod, and it took some time, as well as several therapy sessions with the young Bogolenya goddess Mentálne, for him to stave off the worst parts of his PTSD. Even then, while he did mostly improve, the road to full mental recovery is still a long one.

** The Elternteil Deer Pantheon would be on the receiving end of this. Despite Naur warning them of a future disaster that might affect an ancient Alvslog Deer Realm, everyone refused to listen to him because they had grown complacent with their way of life, confident the forests they watched over will stand eternal. Sure enough, [[SelfFulfillingProphecy their neglect caused the disaster to happen anyway]]. The disaster caused one of their divine champions to become a FallenHero who sided with the Hydianites out of fury, grief, and resentment over losing everything, while the rest of the survivors became understandably resentful towards their divine patrons for not preventing the disaster sooner. Said survivors would defect from the Alvslog Deer Herds and side with Naur during the 'Third Splintering', becoming the foundations of the mortal Caearnarian Deer Herds.
