* AdaptationalHeroism: G1 Predaking was like most Decepticon [[CombiningMecha combiners]], a big brute without personality. Predaking in this series is a PunchClockVillain who simply fights for his creators and to protect the other Predacons. [[spoiler: At the end of ''Predacons Rising'' he even makes a HeelFaceTurn and allies with the Autobots against Unicron.]]

* AllThereInTheManual: ''The Covenant of Primus'' reveals his backstory. Or rather the backstory of the ''original'' Predaking from whom he was cloned. [[spoiler:Turns out, the original Predaking was the first and most powerful Predacon to ever walk across Cybertron, constantly fighting and defeating his fellow Predacons in order to conquer their territories and make himself king. * BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: When Bumblebee finds Predaking on Cybertron during the movie, Bumblebee puts down his weapons and tells Predaking that he thinks there's room for more than one race to coexist peaceably on their world, implying that the Autobots would be willing to co-exist peacefully with the [[spoiler: revived Predacon clones]]. Predaking rebuffs him, [[spoiler: but when the Terrorcon horde attacks the Well defended by a tiny band of Autobots, Predaking not only turns up with his fellow Predacons to face them head-on, he takes a minute to warn the Autobots off pulling a HeroicSacrifice against Unicron and his minions.]]

* BookEnds / IGaveMyWord: While still serving the Decepticons, he threatens to kill Starscream for all of the abuse he puts up with at the latter's hands. [[spoiler: In the series finale he and his lackeys made good on this threat, though they fail to actually ''kill'' him.]]

Megatron gets a couple hits in with his blade but they don't do any real damage while Predaking pummels him. * EnemyMine: [[spoiler: He leads the other Predacons into combat to help save Cybertron, alongside the Autobots.]]

** [[spoiler: This is ultimately the reason that Megatron had the entire Predacon line scrapped; Megatron could beat down any wise upstarts or outsmart any enemy, but Predaking was both stronger than him and potentially smarter. If he rebelled, he would be a genuine threat to the Decepticon cause, especially if he had his people behind him.]]

* GrievousHarmWithABody: He beat [[spoiler: Megatron]] with a dead Vehicon, which wound up breaking it into pieces.

* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler: By the end of ''Predacons Rising'', he is willing to work with the Autobots, and seems to no longer consider them enemies.]]

* InvincibleVillain: Predaking is virtually unbeatable. The Autobots can't beat him in their initial encounters and have to settle for using a ground bridge to send him to the artic where he freezes, which only stops him temporarily. When he returns in ''Chain of Command'' he reduces Starscream with Apex Armor, which previously made him TheJuggernaut, to a glorified chew toy, and inflicts a CurbStompBattle on Bulkhead, Wheeljack and Ultra Magnus, then reduces Miko using the Apex Armor to a chew toy (though it turns out he didn't actually damage her or the armor). Facing Wheeljack and Ultra Magnus in ''Evolution'' the most they can do is annoy him before he nearly kills them both. The upgraded Optimus Prime does better against Predaking in their fight over the course of ''Minus One'' and ''Persuation'' but in the end Predaking shrugs off everything Optimus throws at him and still wins. [[spoiler: In ''Synthesis'' he nearly kills Megatron, who only survives thanks to Starscream's intervention. The one loss Predaking suffers against [[GodOfEvil Unicron]] in ''Predacons Rising'' and even then he does better than the Autobots.]]
* {{Irony}}: Megatron, upon finding out Predaking is sentient, fears that he'll eventually betray and overtake his forces. [[spoiler:Realizing Megatron's role in setting his species up for death is what ultimately causes the betrayal they were trying to prevent.]]

** By the end of the show, he has exactly '''one''' uncontested loss to his name, and that [[spoiler:was only due to the [[PhysicalGod Unicron]] [[DemonicPossession possessed]] [[BigBad Megatron.]] Even then, he still put up a better fight than the rest of the entire cast.]]

* MadeOfIron: By far the most durable character in the show. In his debut appearance, he survives the explosion of an entire energon mine and keeps on going. Getting slammed into a cliff face at high speed only stunned him. Even being frozen solid in the Arctic only kept him down until the storm finally passed and the sun came out. [[spoiler: He even takes a beatdown from a powered-up, Unicron-possessed Megatron and gets up to keep fighting.]]

* MookHorrorShow: He rampages and slaughters the Vehicons [[spoiler: when he learns of Megatron's betrayal.]] Never has a person felt more sorry for the cannon fodder 'Cons till then...

* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Gives a positively brutal one to Ratchet during "Synthesis", and immediately afterward gives one to [[spoiler: Megatron and the majority of his forces.]]

* NeverTrustATrailer: Even after revealing his sentience and status as a lonely NobleDemon who only seeks to avenge his comrades, and quite a sympathetic character, he is always advertised as a pure antagonist in commercials and other forms of advertising. Most of the trailers for ''Predacons Rising'' try to advertise him and the Predacons as the main antagonists, even on the cover of the DVD. While Predaking remains by default an antagonist [[spoiler: until the climax of ''Predacons Rising'']], he was never in any position to be the BigBad like Megatron or Silas like the advertising made him out to be.

* SuperStrength: Predaking is far stronger than the average Cybertronian, capable of tossing around Autobots with little difficulty. He's also strong enough to wield the Forge of Solus Prime with one hand [[spoiler:and later snap it in half.]]
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: A GutturalGrowler WarriorPoet NobleDemon who joins Megatron out of a desire for revenge against the Autobots who murdered his kin [[spoiler:and later clashes with Megatron over honor, but does not join the Autobots just because of that]], he's very much similar to [[spoiler: the late]] Dreadwing.

At the end of "Plus One", he accesses the ''Nemesis''' database in order to learn everything the 'Cons know about Predacons.
