* TheDulcineaEffect: She's Bam's Dulcinea, and the trope starts out playing as straight as they come. What started out simple gets deconstructed like you wouldn't believe. Rachel is very good at playing Dulcinea, but she's a lot more [[PoisonousFriend poisonous]] than she is innocent, and uses her resulting {{Wounded Gazelle Gambit}}s for her own reasons on just about everybody. Bam was never ''entirely'' fooled by her, but his relationship was too important for him to make a fuss about the details for a very long time. And, it is justified in that she was the first person he can remember having any relationship with. This ain't healthy on many, many counts. Including for her world view and mental health, let alone his. Or, anybody else's.

** Thanks to his training with Evan Edroch aboard the Hell Train, Khun manages to combine his efforts with Beta to upgrade his Lighthouses using a Enna Core upgrade-kit.

** Khun initially befriended Bam since he seemed useful, but after spending more time with him, Khun found himself drawn to boy. He saw himself in him, and enjoyed his company greatly, causing Khun to go out of his way to support Bam in season 1.

** It becomes more and more evident that Khun worries about whether or not he can catch up to Bam considering his insane power developments. Khun trains in the Data arc and even learns how to act as Spearbearer to improve himself.

* WeaponsThatSuck: His bag Manbarondenna can suck up Shinsu attacks in mid-air. It even proves it self surprisingly effective against shapeshifters by sucking them up mid-transformation.

* XanatosSpeedChess: He kind of has to. Any [[TheChessmaster chessmastering]] he does tends to hit unforseen snags to work around or within. A lot. This is not usually due to a lack of forward planning, but often because he's playing well outside the normal Regular leagues. Expect him to break out the odd BatmanGambit and IndyPloy on top of any other contingencies in play.

A giant battle-hungry anthropomorphic alligator who loves to fight, compete, and hunt the powerful. Rak is generally a strong, and pretty straightforward guy with a lot of street wisdom. He also tends to label his prey, and friends, as "turtles," and has a strange liking for bananas. Overall, Rak's a great source of the series' awesome-sauce and comedic hijinks.

* AwesomeMcCoolname: Wraithraiser. Or Wreckraiser, depending on translation. Of course, the [[SpellMyNameWithAnS original Korean pronunciation]] is probably closer to "Rak Lacration," which isn't... quite as awesome.

* ManChild: Rak is clearly at the age where he is old enough to climb the tower but he frequently behaves like a toddler. He throws a tantrum in the door test, frequently eats childish food, and has the childish appetite for chocolate bars.

* SleepModeSize: A giant 15 foot tall alligator man who towers over just about every single cast member. Because he is so tall, the organization controlling the tower gives him the special ability to make himself extremely short to get around in areas he otherwise wouldn't fit. When he enters combat, he can instantly change back to his true height.

A haughty, cynical, self-centered woman who was chosen as a Jahad Princess due to defeating all the adopted recruits in her Great Family to eventually being at the top of the food chain. She was considered one of the top-5 E-Rank Regulars alongside Anaak, Ran, Blarode, and Baragav.

In season 1, Endorsi quickly establishes herself as one of the strongest Regulars during Bam's appearance on the Floor of Tests given her Jahad Princess status. However, throughout the 2nd Floor, she develops a caring, yet vitriolic relationship, with Anaak due to actually wanting to help the Fake Princess climb the Tower and realizing Endorsi is technically her aunt. Her interactions with Bam also result in her becoming friendlier with the rest of the core group, as well as gaining a romantic interest in him to the point of wanting Bam to be hers at any chance she gets.

In season 2, Endorsi climbs the Tower with Shibisu's 2nd Floor graduation team. She supported the team at Workshop helping Bam break away from FUG, but ended up losing her name to Kaiser of the Hell Train's Name Hunt Station in an attempt to protect Anaak from being hunted by the Lo Po Bia Family. The result of Endorsi's name being stolen is Shibisu's team being at war with the people of the station. After Bam made a deal with Kaiser to have Endorsi's name given back to her, Endorsi joined up with Bam's Hell Train group in order to meet with Garam Jahad on the Floor of Death.

* ActionGirl: Endorsi proves herself to be one of the more powerful Regulars of the Floor of Tests saga. She retains this status in season 2, going toe-to-toe with the strongest E-Rank Regular, Mad Dog, in the Workshop Battle.
* BigDamnHeroes: Almost every moment when she uses the shinsu technique "Chiffon Sword" counts as one.
* BrokenBird: Her experiences trying to earn the right to become a Princess left her quite bitter.
* TheBigGuy: Small frame, but stronger than Rak.

* DudeMagnet: She was voted as "the #1 girl I'd like to date before I die".
* FemmeFatale: Noted to be alluring and deadly at the same time by people who observe her fighting.
* TheFightingNarcissist: Thinks herself to be highly beautiful so if you kick her in the face, make sure it finishes her off. Problem is, thanks to how strong she is it isn't easy.
* GoGetterGirl: Going through training that boiled down to 'achieve or starve' led her to become this.
* GreenEyedMonster: Rachel has thoroughly earned everyone's hatred, but Endorsi's hatred for her is at a personal level due to being jealous of how obsessed Bam is with her, even if his obsession isn't romantic.
* ImmortalImmaturity: She didn't become a Regular until she was around 300 years old, but she acts like a mildly sociopathic, hyperactive teenager, refusing to take responsibility, freaking out whenever someone accidentally implies she's not the prettiest girl around, and kicking people in the head when she's displeased.
* LargeHam: On occasion, especially when people aim attacks at her face.

A Red Witch Guide that helps certain people climb the Tower Floors. Viewing Bam as her "god," Hwaryun has remained a major support for his development and climb up the Tower.

In season 1, Hwaryun is introduced as a mysterious character wearing a mask and tight neoprene suit during the Crown Game, and dominated the last round until Bam slashed her face with shinsu. Since then, Hwaryun's wears an eyepatch, let her hair down, and pretends to take part in the wave controller class alongside Bam. In the epilogue, it's revealed that upon Rachel's arrival into the Tower, Yu Hansung had tasked Hwaryun to serve as Rachel's Guide to help the latter safely climb the Tower. She also turns out to be a member of FUG, and recruited Bam into the organization after Rachel betrayed him.

In season 2, Hwaryun continues to watch over Bam as he climbs the Tower as FUG's leader, Jue Viole Grace. By the time of the Workshop Battle, it turned out that she's been working for the FUG faction that supports Viole rather than Karaka's side that's trying to kill him, and helps Bam break away from the terrorist organization with the powerful Thorn at hand. After Workshop, she continues to guide Bam by helping him board the Hell Train express to chase after Rachel, and supports Bam's companions on the Floor of Death in order to have them fight against Hell Joe, who Hwaryun holds a major grudge against. Though this ends up being a ploy of hers, and in reality her main goal was obtaining the soul-stirring ladle in order to trade it for another Thorn fragment for Bam. She uncharacteristically does not accompany them into the Hidden Floor, but plays a vital role in helping everyone escape when Jahad's forces come to kill everyone on the Hell Train.

In season 3, she has gone her separate ways from Bam's group, for reasons even Khun has no idea about. She comes back from her "personal trip" after the events at The Wall of Peaceful Coexistence and is willing to help Bam save his Master.

Control over Ehwa ends up getting transferred to Viole after he defeats Prince's high-score on the punching machine for the 20th Floor test. Following her freedom from Lurker Cash, Ehwa joins up with Viole and Wangnan's Sweet and Sour group that was formed as a result of completing the 20th Floor test. However, she learns of her Great Yeon Family having a dark side to them due to discovering the family's mistreatment of the Zigenas during the 21st Floor test. As a result, she decides to climb the Tower with Viole to witness the darkness of the other Great Families, and return to the Yeon Family after becoming a Ranker to set the family straight.

Afterwards, Ehwa climbs the Tower with the Sweet and Sour team all the way to the Hell Train, but unlike the rest of Wangnan's group, who continue the chase for Cassano, Yeon is asked to rejoin with Bam starting from the 39th Floor's Name Hunt Station.

A being similar to Horyang, and Cassano, who had been turned into an experimental Living Ignition Weapon. Beta has lived on the Archimedes airship that houses the Workshop Battle almost his whole life as one who was experimented on by researcher Sophia within the ship's Acorn Workshop.

Out for revenge believing that Workshop made him suffer to push along the Living Ignition Weapon experiments for Viole's sake, Beta joins forces with FUG to lead said Slayer Candidate into Reflejo's trap so that Viole would get melted into the Thorn ignition weapon. However, the plan fails after Viole escapes the trap with the Thorn at hand, and then pushes Beta to his limits utilizing the Thorn's power. Beta falls unconscious due to the fight, but it's soon revealed that Workshop has already decided to dispose of Beta permanently for being a failed experiment. In order for Beta to live free from Workshop, Sophia is able to convince Lero-Ro to help the former escape the Workshop Battle.

After the Workshop Battle, and having learned that Cassano had baited him into fighting against Viole, Beta is hit with a HeelFaceTurn, and sides with Bam's group to ascend the Tower as a part of Nobic's team by joining their attempt to board the Hell Train in order to get revenge on Cassano for tricking him. Since he's not considered a true Regular, Team Nobic stores Beta as an item within Sia's lighthouse as the team climbs up the Tower.

A seemingly average-looking guy who provides the series a ton of comedic moments. Shibisu starts off looking like someone who doesn't have anything special about him, and gets easily pushed around by those stronger than him. However, it soon turns out that he is actually much smarter than he looks, which results in people willing to stand behind his command.

In season 1, Shibisu is somehow able to get himself paired up with two monster Regulars, Hatz and Anaak, that made up for his lack of strength in the initial 2nd Floor tests. He's eventually able to pass the Floor of Tests with the rest of the group.

In season 2, Shibisu acts as the leader of his team due to his proven intellect as they go about climbing the Tower. Their main goal is to protect Anaak from the Tower given her Fake Princess status. Like Khun, Shibisu was there when he learned of Rachel's betrayal; meaning that the rest of his team also knows. Shibisu also leads his team at the Workshop Battle and Name Hunt Station. The former of which turns into a mission to help Bam break away from FUG while the latter has the team take on Kaiser's faction in order to get Endorsi's stolen name back.

A solitary lizard girl who spent a great time of her life on the outer 43rd Floor with Garam Jahad before being chosen to enter the inner Tower. Anaak is out to get revenge for her parents' murder by killing the entire Jahad family, and the hook weapon she wields turns out to be her mother's 13-Month Weapon, the Green April. She was also considered one of the top-5 E-Rank Regulars alongside Endorsi, Ran, Blarode and Baragav.

In season 1, Anaak first appears on the 2nd Floor in the initial survival test where she meets Hatz and immediately battles him. Though she is one of the strongest on the 2nd Floor, she keeps to herself despite forming a team with Hatz and Shibisu. She's also the reason that Bam would end up losing the 13-Month Series, Black March.

In truth, Anaak is the daughter of the real Anaak Jahad; a defected Princess who broke the law of Jahad's rule by giving birth to a child, which resulted in Jahad's borrowed power getting passed down to the infant. This makes the daughter Anaak a Fake Jahad Princess; an existence that is seen as an insult to the Jahad Rulers, and makes her an enemy to the entire Tower. Princess Yuri manages to protect Anaak from a Ranker assassin, Ren, that was sent to kill Anaak during her journey through the Floor of Tests. However, Yuri in return takes away the two 13-Month Weapons that Anaak had hold of.

In season 2, Anaak is currently climbing the Tower as part of Shibisu’s team and supports them on whatever mission they come across.

Throughout the Floor of Tests, Hatz continued to prove himself to be one of tougher Regulars as a user of the sword, and even manages to take on a Ranker, Quant, by himself for a brief time.

Bam's first and best friend who freed him from a dark prison, but then decides to leave him to search for a starry sky to overcome her fear of the night. Due to her injuries, she's forced to get by through the words she speaks, whether it be using the truth or through lies. Rachel is also an Irregular but was not chosen by the Tower, sneaking in due to Bam forcing the door open right below her.

In Season 1, Rachel goes by the moniker of Michelle Light to evade Bam after realizing that the two of them are in the same test group. However, they're eventually forced to reunite after her legs had become crippled. To continue being with Rachel, Bam decides to become her legs to help her climb the Tower. In the end, Rachel betrays Bam by showing that her legs are fine and pushes him into the dark abyss as she goes on to complete the final 2nd Floor test with everyone else.

Season 2 has Rachel continues to climb the Tower, and manages to escape Khun's watch. She then forms a new team of her own and boards the Hell Train in order to gain a powerful ally in White. Rachel then journeys to the 43rd Floor of Death in order and convinces Wangnan to join her group after his Sweet and Sour team failed in taking away one of her teammates.

On the Floor of Death, Rachel manages to get away from Karaka in order to reach Bam, but is unable to convince him to run away after Bam tells her that he needs to continue going forward. Despite that, Bam allows Rachel to take part in the test that will provide the location of the Thorn, but she is poisoned and knocked out. However, Bam makes a deal with Poe Bidau Gustang to have her healed.

* AntiHero: The author's blog says that she's one of these. She is certainly one of the most ruthless characters.

Rachel is very good at playing Dulcinea, but she's a lot more [[PoisonousFriend poisonous]] than she is innocent, and uses her resulting {{Wounded Gazelle Gambit}}s for her own reasons on just about everybody. Bam was never ''entirely'' fooled by her, but his relationship was too important for him to make a fuss about the details for a very long time. And, it is justified in that she was the first person he can remember having any relationship with. This ain't healthy on many, many counts. Including for her world view and mental health, let alone his. Or, anybody else's.
* EntitledBastard: When Jahad's forces take Rachel and some of Bam's companions as hostages, Endorsi rescues Bam's companions while leaving Rachel's behind. Despite everything she herself has done, ''[[{{Hypocrite}} including]]'' escaping traps intended to kill Bam's companions and leaving them to die, Rachel feels outrage that Endorsi didn't rescue her too.
* EvilCounterpart: To Aguero. Both are lighthouse users who are skilled at manipulating others, and both are/were friends with Bam. However, Aguero learns to respect his allies enough to get his hands dirty to work alongside them and even grows to care for them enough to let them strike out more-or-less on their own in a widespread network of interconnections he can call on; while Rachel mostly sees her allies as tools to get her up the Tower, so she can easily completely dump them the minute they become less effective.
* EvilCripple: Rachel seems like this, betraying and manipulating everyone to help herself, but as it turns out she's just faking being a cripple to gain this sympathy and help herself more.
* FaceHeelTurn: While there's evidence suggesting she was a ManipulativeBitch even when she met Bam, she did sincerely care for him. The combination of Bam being TheChosenOne and her being manipulated by Headon turned her away from that. However, while this was her FaceHeelTurn chronologically, in story, she's presented as taking this when she pushes Bam into the lake.
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: After her true colors are revealed, Rachel is featured in many teams that don't think highly of her as a person or are close to her at all. The only carryover from any of those lineups that cared for her was Yura.
* GuardianEntity: [[spoiler:Poe Bidau Gustang leaves her with a gift, a ferocious invisible beast who protected her until he obtained the items he wanted from the Hell Train.]]

The only way to be pretty, female and not on Rachel's list of contempt is... to both have a hard-luck story that involves a thirst for revenge and to prove you'll do anything for Rachel to get it.
* HeroAntagonist: Another possible angle. Sure, she could be somewhat delusional in her goals and her behavior is far from nice, but they directly connect in many ways with those the Zarhard batch of Irregulars seem to have had when they were climbing. And, they are considered heros, however much the reader may agree or disagree with the outcome. ''Bam and company'' are the really odd ducks, by current Tower standards. So, the friction between Rachel and Bam could be seen as more clashing cultural interpretations of appropriate forms of heroism than a simple case of hero vs villain. But, of the two sides, Rachel is definitely down in the darker shades of morally grey by readers' standards.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: She certainly sees herself as the heroine of, at the very least, her own tale. She wants to make it the main one, however. But, as we mainly get to see things from Bam and company's side, we've pretty much only got her word on that. See below.
* HeroKiller: [[spoiler:In Season 2 Ep 227, she kills Akraptor while Wangnan is held hostage by Yura.]]
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: Her main motive. She wants to be the heroine of the story, and will attempt to jam herself into that position by any means necessary. She even tries to get rid of her original body and replace it with a completely different one generated from her idealized self.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: At first, she envied Bam for being a MagneticHero, though she later settles for forming friendless alliances as the next best thing.
* IKnowYouKnowIKnow: Was caught in a loop of this with Aguero for a while; he knows she's faking her illness and spies on her with his Lighthouse, but she knows his team is a fence to trap her because she spies on him with her Lighthouse. And, so on and so forth. As of this writing, everyone seems to know what everyone else knows about what they know, so this trope may no longer be in place. But, that could change.
* IllGirl: She loses the use of her legs after Hoh stabs her. However, she’s faking it and fools almost nobody; the doctor who examined her said there was no lasting damage.
* ImmuneToFate: Part of the Irregular package. Which plays a major part in ''completely'' messing with Hwa's ability to guide Bam through the Hell Train arc, although there are a few hints that misleading her goes back much further than that. There are unknowns about how much Rachel knows about her own "skill", and how much various people within FUG do.
* InvincibleVillain: Played with. On one hand, she and her allies are always one step ahead of Bam and co, to the point where they can OutGambit Hwaryun, who managed to OutGambit an opposing FUG faction. It helps that she's an Irregular and is harder for Guides to predict. On the other hand, her reluctance to get her hands dirty makes her seem ineffectual compared to many other tower climbers.
* {{Irony}}: Given her and Bams' interlocking skill-sets, they'd be a pretty unstoppable, hard-to-manipulate, Wave Controller-Lighthouse Keeper and Irregular core to any Tower-shaking team. Shame she can't see that, due to wanting to be the I in Team. She practically hands the awesome over to Aguero, and ensures that everybody dances on others' strings.
* ItGetsEasier: Invoked. She's shaken after killing Akraptor with her own hands, but she tells herself that she'll have to get used to it.
* LightIsNotGood: Has light skin, light blonde hair, uses a pseudonym of Michelle Light, and is a Light Bearer. Although her role as a villain isn't clear, she's still considered an antagonist to Bam is willing to use whatever (and whoever) she can to climb the Tower.
* ManipulativeBastard: She is; particularly where Bam is concerned. However, Khun has generally seen through her ruses. [[spoiler: Unfortunately, he hasn’t spotted ''all'' of them.]]
* MeaningfulName: According to the author's blog, her name was chosen because "In Sherlock Holmes, there is a reference to the word Rache(Rah-he) that means revenge in German."
* MutualEnvy: Princess Endorsi Jahad is jealous of Rachel over how dedicated Bam is towards her and would gladly give up her princess privileges to be with him. On the opposite side, Rachel is jealous of Endorsi for being a beautiful princess like a fairytale heroine, while her feelings towards Bam are mixed at best and consist largely of envy.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Downplayed and possibly subverted. She's shaken by how she killed [[spoiler:Akraptor]] and got blood on her hands, but it's implied that [[DirtyCoward she's merely too scared or nervous to do the deed herself easily]], since she has no issue with her comrades killing others -- however, she still battles with the realisation that not all on Bam's team may be as easily or lightly throw-away as she thought before rationalizing it within her "Tower Tale" framework.
* NonActionBigBad: Invoked and played with (what her ultimate role as an antagonist actually is far from clear). While she does have very solid Lighthouse abilities from the start of her climb, she admits that she'd rather just rely on stronger teammates to rise to the top.
* NonPOVProtagonist: For a character who's hardly ever on-screen, she provides a lot of fuel for the story, as well as prodding a great deal of the main cast into moving in various important directions. Both deliberately and accidentally; positive and negative.
* PsychoticSmirk: Shows one after she detonates a bomb in [[spoiler:Khun]]'s heart, gloating about how she wanted to kill him with her own hands at the worst possible moment for him.

She's a quick study, however, to get as good with lightboxes as fast as she does. Like Bam, she starts knowing very little about basic aspects of the Tower, and it puts her at a disadvantage. According to WordOfGod, she is indeed an Irregular like Bam, which means she ''might'' have abilities we haven't seen but if so there's been no hint of them beyond that.

* BookDumb: He has no idea of the basics of the Tower or weapons, but has an intuition and empathic intelligence that is incredibly accurate.

** Despite hamming it up and complaining during his Spear Bearer training, Rak managed to match Ghost in the next to impossible feat of hitting an extremely distant target, earning an instant pass to the final test.

* TheHeart: Yeah, despite being a hunter and pretty abrasive, he is one of the most decent and inspiring characters next to Bam, living a life in absolute honesty.

A haughty, cynical, self-centered woman who was chosen as a Jahad Princess due to defeating all the adopted recruits in her Great Family to eventually being at the top of the food chain. She was considered one of the top-5 E-Rank Regulars alongside Anaak, Ran, Blarode and Baragav.

In season 1, Endorsi quickly establishes herself as one of the strongest Regulars during Bam's appearance on the Floor of Tests given her Jahad Princess status. However, throughout the 2nd Floor, she develops a caring, yet vitriolic relationship, with Anaak due to actually wanting to help the Fake Princess climb the Tower, who Endorsi is technically an aunt for. Her interactions with Bam also results in her becoming friendlier with the rest of the core group, as well as gaining a romantic interest in him to the point of wanting Bam to be hers at any chance she gets.

* ShipTease: She loves Bam,so it's not a secret to anyone (except for Bam). Things so go far that she declared herself as Bam's girlfriend, by side of Bam, either you are not interested or do not know what she is talking about, although recently Bam seems less naive about it and never reject her display of affection, and she most closed of the girls teases with Bam.

However, he becomes part of the core group making it through the Floor of Tests, and proves to have spear throwing skills on par with Rak's.
