* AnAxeToGrind: Catteraxe and Catatomb both have axes on the end of their tails.

The "Common Bird" of the Kaskade Region, based on the California and Mountain quail. Initially just pure Flying, but becomes Ground/Flying upon evolving into Quailert.

* EverythingsBetterWithDinosaurs: Has the aesthetic of a feathered dinosaur.

* SeldomSeenSpecies: Phisnooz is based on ''phimoia'', a prehistoric elephant. Telemac is based on older reconstructions of ''macrauchenia'', a bizarre animal closely related to the odd-toed ungulates.[[note]]The trunk is considered innacurate by modern reconstructions[[/note]]

* MeaningfulName: Their names together, '''"estoe perpetua"''', are Latin for "this is forever", in reference to both how nuclear waste takes thousands of years to become safe.

* BearsAreBadNews: Arctikull is a brutal and cruel creature, hence its Dark typing. It cares not for any Pokémon that die from its winter; as long as Arctikull is comfortable.

* FirstContactMath: Much like ''Film/CloseEncountersOfTheThirdKind'', Perpetua communicates with others by flashing coloured lights on its head frill.

* MeaningfulName: Their names are derived from the Latin phrase '''"estoe perpetua"''', meaning "this is forever". This is in reference to both how nuclear radiation takes thousands of years to become safe and to how these Pokémon have apparently been manipulating things from behind the scenes.

** Llampas is derived from "llama" and "pampas grass".
** Danfluff is from "dander" (animal fur that causes allergies) or "dandruff", "fluff" and the name "Dan", meaning "God is my judge" or "positivity".
** Alfalphalops combines "alfalfa" with ''camelops'', while also including "alpha" in reference to the ''camelops'' being the early ancestor of camelids.

** Therpal combines "thermal" with "herp", referring to herptiles (the term that groups reptiles and amphibians together).
** Aspfault is "asp", an archaic term for venomous snakes, and "fault", a large crack in the ground. The name also sounds like "asphault", the material used to manufacture roads.
** Tarmendoa combines "tar" or "tarmac", another kind of road covering, with "mend" and "boa", referring to the secondary inspiration in the rubber boa.

** Burbwhirl refers to "burble", as in a burbling brook, with "whirligig", both a type of beetle and a spinning ornament.
** Spoutlaw combined "water spout" with "outlaw".
** Vaquamael is multi-layered, combining "vaquero", the Spanish for "cowboy", with "aqua" or the Spanish "agua", meaning "water", and "maelstrom", referring to whirlpools.

* NewAgeRetroHippie:

A Normal/Rock-type regional variant of Ambipom. It carries rocks around with it and uses the arms on its tail to hurl them at foes.

* UndergroundMonkey: The Kaskadian Ambipom is far more aggressive than Sinnohan Ambipom and hurls rocks at anyone and anything it deems a threat.

* UndergroundMonkey: Kaskadian Crabominable is based on gorilla crabs, which are poisonous, and to the permafrost that occurs in the far north.

* CrazySurvivalist: Quailstion forms a literal bunker with its wings and the feathers of its head form a tinfoil hat.

Catteraxe is a Normal/Steel-type catlike Pokémon. It is functionally blind and uses its axe-like tail to clear paths through the forest. Through unknown methods involving a Key Bone, its nine lives are confined in the bone, allowing it to evolve into the Ghost-type Catatomb.

** Catteraxe is '''Cat''' combined with '''Axe''', bridged by '''Cateracts''', an eye condition that causes blindness.
** Catatomb is '''Cat''' and '''Tomb''', which together sounds like '''Catacomb''', a subterranean chamber used for religious practices - burial most commonly.
* RealitySubtext: Catteraxe is partially inspired by feral cats, former domestic cats turned wild and a major problem for ecosystems.

* WatchOutForThatTree: Due to being blind, Catteraxe keeps walking into trees, and so developed the axe blade on its tail to clear a path through the forest.

* HerbivoresAreFriendly: Downplayed. Manadza isn't selfish and cruel like Arctikull, but still brings heatwaves wherever it goes and commands fire on a whim, so it's not a good idea to make it angry.
* HumansAreInsects: Also downplayed. Manadza doesn't seem to hate humans, but if its angry reaction to Tom Bezzle's demands were any indication, it doesn't take kindly to taking orders from them.

* FearsomeCritters: Catteraxe and Catatomb are based on the Splintercat, a feline creature known for headbutting trees to get at its food.

* UndergroundMonkey: Much like Galarian Zigzagoon/Linoone, the kaskadian Luxray is the original form, which makes the Sinnohan Luxray the example of this trope.

* HerbivoresAreFriendly: Zig-zagged. Manadza is much more pleasant than Arctikull, but still brings heatwaves wherever it goes and commands fire on a whim, so it's not a good idea to make it angry.

** Kwaile is a misspelling of '''quail''', referring to both the bird and to cowering or faltering in fear.

* SnakesAreSinister: Averted completely for Therpal, who is jumpy and frightened of everything, especially of getting wet. Downplayed with Aspfault and Tarmendoa — their burrowing can be destructive and Tarmendoa certainly looks fearsome, but they're still Pokémon that can be tamed.

* CantTakeCriticism: When [[spoiler:Wicoot]] tells Tom that [[spoiler:the Legendary Pokémon won't alter the cycle of the seasons for mankind's benefit]], he reacts pretty poorly.

* Expy: He's basically Jeff Bezos (with the baldness to match) if he not only created Amazon, but also Apple, Google, and Facebook too.
* KarmaHoudini: [[spoiler:You beat Tom Bezzle, foil his plans of mind-controlling the regional Legendaries and altering the weather, and he decides to honestly turn himself in... and the very next day, he pays his fines, gets out of jail and withdraws his sponsorship of the Champion position.]]

* BlindingBangs: Danfluff gains these upon evolving, reminiscent of a stereotypical cartoon caveman due to the prehistoric animal inspiration.

* GlassCannon: The Burbwhirl line hits hard with high attack, special attack and speed, but has low HP and defence.

* UglyCute: [[{{InvokedTrope}} Invoked]] with Burbwhirl. Lockstin wanted to base it more on actual whirligig beetle larvae, but found them too hideous to reasonably adapt. So he and the artist compromised by making Burbwhirl “so ugly it’s cute” akin to pugs.

A pair of Normal/Ghost opossum Pokemon. They live near human settlements, and are ''very'' interested in acting and theater. They are so good at playing dead that death itself seems to be fooled, giving them Ghost powers. Some even say that Opakespiel are possessed by the spirit of the character they play.

* MeaningfulName: Specoey combines '''Specter''', '''Spectate''' (what the audience at a theater does), and '''Joey''' (a term for a baby opossum). Opakespiel combines '''Opossum''', '''Opaque''' (meaning they're less ghostly than ghost types that can become fully transparent), and '''Spiel''' (a long speech, often given by a character in a play), and sounds somewhat similar to "Shakespeare", if you drop the "O" (as is often done when talking about opossums)

An ancient-looking Pokémon based on trout and lungfish. It has two forms depending on the weather condition in play - The Water/Ground Wet Form for rainstorms and the Rock/Ground Dry Form for droughts.

* PuppeteerParasite: Can subtly influence the thoughts and actions others with its powerful telepathic abilities. It even has the power to rewrite memories, which it first demonstrates... on ''[[TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou Lockstin]]''. [[spoiler:Everyone thinks Orthbolod have been here all along--they actually only recently arrived.]]

* RobotMe: Designed by Amaze-All to be a robotic re-creation of the ancient Thunderbird

* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: Its signature move, as stated by Lockstin, is a Ground-type special attack that has a chance to burn...and smells like eggs.

* BadassMustache: Gains one as Spoutlaw, which it constantly twirls. It loses this when it evolves into Vaquamael.

* SuperSmoke:

* A regional evolution of Golbat developed by Amaze-All. Designed to listen in on people as they talk and them psychically beam that back to Amaze-All HQ.

* ShoutOut: The line thematically recalls the three types of triangles, although Lockstin admits that this one is the weakest out of all the Starters. Llampas is an ''acute'' triangle due to being [[Pun cute]], Danfluff is an ''equilateral'' triangle as it sees everyone in equal light and Alfalphalops is an ''obtuse'' triangle due to its lack of smarts. These Pokémon also feature humps that become [[VisualPun triangular pyramids]].

** The Llampas line gains the secondary [[DishingOutDirt Rock-type]] upon evolving into Alfalphalops. This provides extra resistance to Fire-type moves, but adds Fighting and Steel-type weaknesses.

** The entire Burbwhril line has the secondary [[BigCreepyCrawlies Bug-type]]. This reduces its weakness to Grass-types, but adds Flying and Rock to the list of weaknesses.

** MammothsMeanIceAge: Grass-type Starters being extinct megafauna. Llampas' line is based on ''camelops'', the ice-age ancestor to modern camels, alpacas and llamas.
** EasternZodiac: Fire-type Starters being animals from the Chinese Zodiac. Therpal’s line represents the Snake.
** WeaponOfChoice: Water-type Starters having design elements of weapons or warrior classes. Burbwhirl’s line eventually becomes a cowboy-inspired whip/lasso wielder.

** Llampas and its evolutions are Droughtproof, rendering them immune to temperature changes. This protects them from the heatwave caused by Tarmendoa’s Thermal Vortex.

** Burbwhirl's shares the ability Bubble Helm, making them immune to weather effects that affect air quality. This includes the pollen spread by Alfalphalop's Fluff Buff.

* TheDitz: Both Danfluff and Alfalphalops are noted as not being very smart.

** Llampas is derived from llama and pampas grass.

* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: Lockstin gushes about how cute Llampas looks.
* SignatureMove: Alfalphalop's signature move, Fluff Buff, raises defense and evasiveness and fills the air with fluffy pollen.

* AnimalVehicleHybrid: The line has exhaust pipes for tails.

* LavaAddsAwesome: The line takes visual cues from lava lamps, with lava visibly coursing through their bodies.

* SignatureMove: Tarmendoa's signature move, Thermal Vortex, makes it spin its body towards the foe, creating a scorching blast of air that hits multiple foes. It also clears any weather conditions that are wet or cold; or, if there are none, begins a drought.
* SnakesAreSinister: Averted completely for Therpal, who is a complete nervous wreck scared of getting wet. Downplayed with Aspfault and Tarmendoa - their burrowing can be destructive and Tarmendoa certainly looks fearsome, but they're still Pokémon that can be tamed and willingly help humans.

* A regional evolution of Golbat developed by Amaze-All.

* MrsRobinson: Beadamup explicitly likes to prey on younger Pokémon. It's quite literally a [[{{Pun}} cougar]].

An immensely powerful Fire/Psychic lizard. It wields fire like a wizard. In the ancient past, it travelled to the newly-formed Kaskade region, shortly after it was created by Groudon. Taking a liking to the region, it settled in, spreading its heat. His presence brought an eternal summer to the region. After Arctikull arrived, it woke from a long sleep, and began to spread heat again. In the current age, it participates in a constant chase around the region, following Arctikull. Wherever Manadza currently resides, the Kaskade region experiences an artificial summer.

* PinkGirlBlueBoy: Leoseace and Lamentu are the only Ultra Beasts of their group to be gendered, and Leoseace is primarily blue and stated to be male.

* SecretArt: Arctikull's signature Ability is Ice Armor. The first time Manadza is attacked with a special move, it's icy armour reflects the attack back at the foe, damaging the foe and filling the arena with hail and snow.

* HPTo1: It's signature move is meant to be a stronger version of Toxic, but cannot fully KO a Pokemon.

* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: It's signature move, as stated by Lockstin, is a Ground-type special attack that has a chance to burn...and smells like eggs.

* DeathActivatedSuperpower: An inverted example. Leoseace's Soul Passage ability grants it the strongest stat change of the last Pokemon that fainted.

* DeathActivatedSuperpower: Lamentu's Expiation ability triggers when she faints, and heals the next Pokemon switched in of status conditions and half of their HP.

* TheDogBitesBack: Upon defeat, [[spoiler:the star whale that is the real Endram-Odai beats the parasitic being controlling it into submission and gains control once more.]]
* GoodAllAlong: The red parts of it's body are actually a PuppeteerParasite that was controlling the whale. [[spoiler:Once freed, it is extremely grateful and allows the player to capture it.]]
* GreaterScopeVillain: Seems to be commanding the other Ultra Beasts to ravage Kaskade. [[spoiler:Ultimately averted--it itself was under mind control.]]

* PowerIncontinence: Much like Cubchoo, Feafurr has trouble adapting to the Fire-type moves it learns as it grows and ends up running a high fever constantly as a result.
