* BadassBiker: In Zero Gravity, Storm's [[TransformingVehicle Babylon Standard Type-S]] can transform into an air-bike for extra power and durability. As a Power Type character, he also has a natural affinity for the heavier Bike and Wheel type gears.

* InformedSpecies: Fang's official profile on Sega of America's Sonic Central website once called him a "[[MixAndMatchCritters wolf weasel]]", which was apparently earlier stated on the English fan site Concept: "Mobius" and in turn was traced back to the Japanese fan site Sonic Dimension. However, that turned out to be a mistranslation; "wolf '''jerboa'''" would be more accurate. [[WordOfGod Character Designer TOUMA]] indeed confirmed that Fang was conceptually based on a [[SeldomSeenSpecies jerboa]] (explaining his features, tail shape and bounce, and number of fingers), and clarified that the weasel part [[AdaptationSpeciesChange was a change made overseas]]. It's currently unknown where the wolf half comes from, but Sonic Dimension based its data on official Japanese sources, so it's generally believed to be accurate as well.

* {{Expy}}: Hmm, a QuirkyMinibossSquad of six aliens that work for the BigBad. Sounds like a certain band of ''Anime/DragonBallZ'' villains.

* AntiVillain: He was so desperate to save his granddaughter that he made a deal with Black Doom to speed his research. And after the government either ran out of patience or got wind of his outside interference, they went in and killed everyone, driving him off the cliff. This is especially noticeable in ''Shadow The Hedgehog'', as he is treated as some sort of BigGood.

* BigGood: Amusingly. At first glance, Gerald seems like a rotten guy like his grandson would end up being, but the ''Final Story'' in ''Shadow The Hedgehog'' reveals he was planing to use the means given to him by the Black Arms against them. Keep in mind, however, he was only this as Maria was alive. After that, he decided to destroy the planet in revenge.

** [[AvertedTrope Averted]] by manner of WordOfGod. Takashi Iizuka says that both him ''and'' [[VideoGame/SonicRivals Silver]] are from the future, while [[VideoGame/SonicRushSeries Blaze]] is from the [[AlternateUniverse Sol Dimension]].

* VilerNewVillain: Intended to be what Eggman would be like without his redeeming qualities. While Eggman'll pull an EnemyMine [[EvilVersusOblivion so the world doesn't get destroyed]], Eggman Nega is AxCrazy and ''wants'' mass-destruction in his plots(if [[OmnicidalManiac destruction isn't his flat-out goal]]). He lacks any AffablyEvil or PetTheDog traits, [[FauxAffablyEvil and any "nice" qualities Nega shows are a facade]].

Added DiffLines:

* LivingLava: Originally a living flame, Iblis is a monster made out of lava, and is the source of both the smaller lava monsters and the lava-like wasteland of the BadFuture.

* EvilCounterpart: To Dr. Eggman; he completely lacks any redeeming aspects Eggman possesses.

** FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse: On hearing this Shadow accuses him of having this mindset, stating that his motive [[NeverMyFault is merely an excuse]] to blame his own failures on the past.
