* BewareTheSillyOnes: Especially in the first anime. Usagi Tsukino is a ditzy schoolgirl who cries, whines and eats a lot. But she's also a powerful Magical Girl who will fight with teeth, nails and magic to protect those she cares for.

* AccidentalMurder: There are instances in which Sailor Moon unintentionally leads enemies to their deaths. For example, in Sailor Moon S, she unintentionally causes [[spoiler:Viluy's death, by using Rainbow Moon Heartache against her bracelet. Viluy then commands the nanobots controlled by said bracelet to dissolve Sailor Moon, and the nanobots malfuncion, [[HoistByTheirOwnPetard dissolving Viluy instead]]]].

* SlapstickKnowsNoGender: The most frequent victim of this. Over the course of the anime, she's accidentally kicked a closed door, had her face scratched by Luna, had SeizaSquirm invoked on her, took countless volleyballs to the face, one of which knocked her tooth out.

* HundredPercentAdorationRating: Neo-Queen Serenity is this in Crystal Tokyo. She took the position of queen of the world at the insistence of most of the population of Earth and proceeded to usher in an era of unparalleled peace and prosperity.

* GiantWaistRibbon: In her Super Sailor fuku, Eternal Sailor fuku, Princess Serenity and Neo-Queen Serenity form.

** To Rei, in the 90s anime. While Usagi is lazy, Rei is a complete {{workaholic}}. Usagi struggles in her role as a Guardian, while Rei instantly takes to it. While Usagi initially rejects leadership, Rei covets Usagi’s position, and needs to feel control of everything. Usagi sucks at sports (except for Frisbee), while Rei’s athleticism is commented upon (and is only second to Makoto in a strength test shown in opening of the S movie). Usagi has relatively few talents, and Rei has a wide range of talents (singing, organizing a school festival, composing music, modelling, skiing, fire-reading, and ESP among others). Usagi readily admits her shortcomings, while Rei pretends she is infallible. Usagi is openly affectionate, and believes in relying on friends to help you through problems, while Rei is reluctant to show affection, often tries to do everything herself, and keeps her problems to herself.

* GreenRocks: Her crystal seems to gain whatever properties are necessary for a particular arc's plot. It can defeat evil beings, except for when it only seals them away or heals them! It can grant its user's dying wish, except when using it doesn't cause death! It's useful for saving cities of the future, initiating {{Transformation Sequence}}s, and also apparently could serve as a great power battery for {{Big Bad}}s! It even plays music! And yet, [[ForgottenPhlebotinum it wasn't even mentioned]] as a possible means to resolve the conflict of the third season with the Death Busters and Mistress 9, [[PlotHole even though it had solved similar problems in previous seasons]].

* HatesBeingAlone: Usagi appears to have an inate fear of being alone and losing everyone she ever cares about. Which isn't so surprising when you consider that, in most continuities, [[spoiler:Usagi ends up losing her Guardians and Mamoru to the Dark Kingdom's forces and is forced to fight alone for a while.]] Part of the reason that Usagi sheds tears for Nehellenia in the 90's anime [[spoiler:and even almost allows Nehellenia to kill her]] is because she admits she wouldn't be able to handle the idea of spending an eternity alone like Nehellenia did.

** In the [[Series/PrettyGuardianSailorMoon live action series]] [[spoiler:Princess Sailor Moon]] has a sword.

* InTheNameOfTheMoon: TropeNamer. "I am the Pretty Guardian who fights for love and for justice! I am Sailor Moon! And now, [[InTheNameOfTheMoon in the name of the moon]], I will punish you!"

** In the ''Sailor Moon R'' movie, that one rose kid Usagi had given Mamoru... which Mamoru gave to Fiore ended up paying back in spades, as it was the only thing that actually broke the Xenian flower's hold on Fiore's mind, once he realized it actually was a present from Sailor Moon all along, triggering a full blown HeelRealization.

* CartwrightCurse: Anyone who genuinely falls in love with Usagi tends to die. Mamoru/Endymion a number of times (though he always gets better), Prince Demande, and even Seiya is killed in the [[Manga/SailorMoon manga]]... Seems the only people who ever got spared for liking Usagi even the slightest bit were Umino, who later moved on to Usagi's best friend in the first [[Anime/SailorMoon anime]], and Ail (but in his case, his [[BrotherSisterIncest sister/love interest]] commits a [[HeroicSacrifice Heroic Sacrifice]] in order to save him, so he very nearly missed the mark there...).

* ShellShockedVeteran: She is this in the first part of ''R'' after Luna restores her memories. Usagi starts having DullEyesOfUnhappiness about giving up her normal life as a struggling teenager, and seeing the Cardians nearly killing her friends. It affects her powers as well, causing her Moon Tiara Action to fail on her right when she needs it the most. Finally, when one Cardian breaks her brooch and she's drawn into a mystic world, she admits that she doesn't want to be a Senshi anymore but now there isn't a choice since they're all in danger of dying and she's the only one that can save them.

* TraumaButton: First anime only. If her friends are in mortal danger or appear dead, she goes into HeroicBSOD or forcibly shakes them to not risk their lives for any reason whatsoever. [[spoiler:This is because she witnessed the DD Girls slaughtering them all, and the Senshi refused to let Usagi help them in the fight or bargain for their lives]]. She surrenders to Fiore in the ''R'' movie when they're captured and tortured in front of her, saying she can't go through that again. In the first episode of S, she nearly has a breakdown when it seems Rei has died, begging her PleaseWakeUp, and shook Minako when the latter said she wanted to have a pure heart worthy for the villains to take.

* AmbiguousDisorder: Usagi is clumsy, forgetful, easily distracted, and struggles with reading, writing, math and other things. A lot of fans assume that she has some kind of developmental disorder, but it's anybody's guess which one. Her symptoms are all over the place and some of them could be caused by different conditions. Does she have ADHD? Dyslexia? Dyspraxia? Who knows?

* JabbaTableManners: Downplayed. While not exactly messy in her eating, she's not very delicate about it either. She mostly gobbles down her food with her mouth open. During her "Princess Training", she loudly slurps her soup rather that eating it delicately like the other students.

* TheChozenZero: She is assigned by Luna the Cat to be Sailor Moon, even though she is BookDumb, lazy, ditzy, clumsy, and slightly immature. That being said, Usagi does prove herself to be a useful Guardian in spite of her faults.
