* ButNotTooForeign/ MixedAncestry: The former's surprisingly averted! She ''is'' a Japanese citizen, but her mother and father are Vietnamese and Chinese, respectively.

** When the inmates visit the Warden's office, thy find that there is a single Future Foundation jacket left hanging. They find no other similar jackets during their time in prison.

* OdangoHair: With pigtails at the end, to boot!

* GoOutWithASmile: The last full picture we see of Ai before [[spoiler: she gets hauled away to her execution]] has her with her trademark bright smile plastered across her face.

* EmotionalFainting: In Chapter 3, she does this when she opens the bag [[spoiler: with the very much dead Oten Kouei inside]] that she was supposed to bring into the Cathedral.

* TheLeader: Despite her emotional hangups, she's the go-to leader of the group and one of the most consistent investigators during the latter half of the game. The final trial even culminates with her calling out the Mastermind on their ideology with a resounding "[[Franchise/DanganRonpa You've got that wrong!]]"

* IronicEcho: In a way, Etsuko's plan turns out to be this in comparison to Makoto Naegi's plan from ''VisualNovel/SuperDanganronpa2''. Both parties had faith that the SHSL Despair groups they found could be redeemed after their artificial memory loss, both put those groups into an isolated program to begin the rehabilitation process, and both went under the Foundation's noses to do it. However, while Makoto intended for his group to rehabilitate by replacing the despairing and violent memories with better, more hopeful ones, Etsuko put them into a Despair Game and had them fight for their lives in order to prove themselves.

* FlowerInHerHair: A real lily which she maintains herself, apparently.

* YourCheatingHeart: [[spoiler: During Chapter 2's trial, Monobear decided to reveal ''everyone's'' secrets to the court. Jinta's stated that he'd been seeing two girls at the same time.]]

* YouKeepUsingThatWord: Apparently, she knows a couple of English words like "Strike", "Spare", and "Creamy". The first two are understandable since bowling ''is'' her profession, but she thinks creamy means... "cute"?

* HairDecorations: A silver pin on the left side of his hair.

* HairDecorations: Wears two red clips in his hair, crossed together to make an X.

* BiTheWay: Right before the first murder, Senzaki had an ''awfully'' suspicious daydream about her and Nabiki at the beach, splashing each other and getting friendly...
** Subtext all but becomes text when she reveals that [[spoiler: she really ''had'' enjoyed her time with some of the other inmates, and ''especially'' with Nabiki.]]
** She ''outright thinks to herself "I love you"'' when talking to her. It can't get more obvious than that.

* JapaneseDelinquents: During Chapter 2's trial, Monobear decided to release ''everyone's'' dark secrets. Ai's revealed that prior to becoming the ''[[SarcasmMode lovely]]'' delivery idol we know today, she got into a lot of fights in her younger years and became this trope.
* Jerkass/JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Comes with the CharacterDevelopment. Initially, she was all set with manipulating her way out of the prison, but her attitude changed as the roleplay rolls on. [[spoiler: As of Chapter 3, she's planted firmly on the Jerkass part, but she is noted to have enjoyed her time with the other inmates and stated post-mortem that she wishes for them all to escape.]]

** BeneathTheMask: Your favorite delivery idol isn't as cutesy as she appears to be on those television commercials. [[spoiler: To Banri though she claimed her behavior was a means to survive; possibly a JerkassFacade or a potential JerkWithAHeartOfGold.]]

* AccidentalKiss: Happened with Oten much to Banri's shock and embarrassment due to the fact that [[spoiler: [[HoYay he kinda liked it.]]]]

* AmbiguouslyBi: See the Accidental Kiss above.
* BaitAndSwitch: [[spoiler: In the final stages of his execution, a giant Monobear comes to exterminate Banri while he is immobilized. At first, he pulls out some poison gas to take him out- but quickly decides to squish him flat instead.]]

* FinancialAbuse: Banri’s parents used his self-made revolutionary poison to make money.

* JapaneseHolidays: The perfume that got her into Hope's Peak was based off of an encounter she made one day during Golden Week. At first she tried to re-create the atmosphere from that day, and eventually she made a whole line for each day of the week.

* NaiveEverygirl: Besides her [[spoiler: boyfriends death]], she's arguably the only one of the [[spoiler: surviving]] members with the least amount of emotional baggage, and is almost always seen with a bubbly, optimistic outlook on life. This ends up being her greatest advantage against the Mastermind.

* MeaningfulName: Her first name, Kaori, is also written as the word for "scent", which is almost prophetic for a girl who would grow up to be a perfumer.

* WhatTheHellHero: Oten was ''pissed'' at Banri [[spoiler: after he killed Nagisa and Boa and tried to get away with it]]. He tried to tell him that whatever advice he might have is irrelevant because of [[spoiler: the blood on his hands]]. [[spoiler: He begins to give Banri another one after ''he's'' died and veen converted to an Alter Ego as well. He couldn't stop himself, really.]]
