* JekyllAndHyde: Nathan and the Repo Man. They have distinct voices, the Repo Man being much more of a GutturalGrowler than Nathan. The Repo Man also seems to take pleasure in killing, while Nathan sees it as a NecessaryEvil at best.

* MoralityChain: It's implied Shilo is all that's stopping Nathan from taking on the sociopathic Repo Man persona full-time. Indeed, upon deciding that he failed Shilo, caused her to abandon him and drove her into Rotti's thrall, he declares... well, this:

* AbusiveParents: Played with; he had the best of intentions and after his wife's traumatic death he genuinely wanted Shilo safe. That doesn't change the fact that he accomplished this by locking her away from the outside world, stunting her maturity and [[spoiler:poisoning her to keep up the illusion that she's an IllGirl]].

Did she start to realize what he really was (as a scene of them arguing during "Gold" implies) and tried to get out while she still could? Did she genuinely love him but loved Nathan more? Who knows?

Pavi is a DepravedBisexual with an obsession with becoming more beautiful that leads to his gruesome hobby of stealing women's faces, not to mention WordOfGod revealing his status as a rapist. Amber is a spoiled RichBitch who's addicted to surgery and black-market Zydrate. Tying them together is Rotti who is an emotionally AbusiveParent towards all of them because he views his children as failures and unworthy to inherit the company, despite the fact that [[NeverMyFault Rotti was the only one who raised them.]] Oh and Rotti was their only parent because he [[WordofGod murdered all of their mothers.]]

* FreudianExcuse: Being raised by an AbusiveParent like Rotti is bound to mess anyone up. Doubly so for Luigi whose over-the-top anger largely comes from [[WellDoneSonGuy his constant trying and failing when it comes to pleasing his father.]] According to WordOfGod if Pavi and Amber had grown up with their mothers they would have had a chance at becoming normal.

* TheHedonist: Pavi and Amber. With Pavi constantly indulging in sexual pleasure and Amber shamelessly indulging her addiction to surgery and Zydrate. As a whole they're all using up their father's money on things they most likely do not need.
* ManOfWealthAndTaste: Because of their wealth they're all well-dressed and the company sponsors the highly popular Genetic Opera. [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]] for Luigi who is well-dressed but literally rips his shirt off whenever he gets in a fight.
* MissingMom: They all have different mothers and none of them are present because Rotti killed them all.
* QuirkyMiniBossSquad: The siblings are this.
* SiblingRivalry: A very high stakes one since they're competing for ownership of the ''most powerful company in the world.'' [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] in that Rotti has already made up his mind about how they're all "failures" and plans to give the company to Shilo. Ironically, we mainly see Luigi and Pavi fighting over this but in the end [[spoiler: [[DoubleSubversion Amber]] ends up taking over after Rotti dies]].

* FauxAffablyEvil: He very politely invites Shilo into his limo and to nice parties; he even offers her a job! But no one is allowed to say no, and when you get right down to it, all his external niceness a skin deep mask for his hate and selfishness. Justified given his job--he ''has'' to be nice, or else no one will trust his business.

* VillainHasAPoint: As he's [[spoiler: succumbing to his illness]] he says to Luigi and Pavi that they're "not men, [they're] creatures". Harsh, but considering Luigi's violent temper and Pavi's…habits, you can see where he's coming from. However, saying this certainly makes him a hypocrite considering the lives he's directly and indirectly ruined over the years, and the fact that it was his parenting that made his kids how they are.

* WhyDidYouMakeMeHitYou: Taking this trope to the logical extreme, he flat out blames Marni ''for her own murder at his hands'', rationalizing that he would never have done it if she hadn't left him for Nathan.

* EvenEvilHasStandards: Sounds more comforting than taunting when he tells Nathan he can reunite Mag and Marni by killing the former; then him, Luigi and Amber all look at Rotti with what appears to be disapproval when he reminds Nathan of Marni's death.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: More subtle than Luigi, but there are indications and [[WordofGod Ogre]] expressed his belief that Pavi does love Rotti in the Director and Actor's commentary. In his first scene, as Pavi's wearing a stolen woman's face, he looks to his father and flashes a hesitant thumbs up as if to ask Rotti if it looks good. Later, as Rotti's cough grows violent during the final act, Pavi runs onstage with Luigi to check on him. Then, when Rotti plainly says he despises both of his sons, Pavi looks absolutely crushed.

* LesserOfTwoEvils: Since everyone knows that Luigi will stab someone to death on a whim this is likely why the Genterns tend to gravitate to Pavi.
* MilkingTheGiantCow: What he lacks in facial expression he makes up for with very exaggerated, sweeping gestures.

* ShooOutTheClowns: He and Luigi are the ComicRelief and during the scene when Shilo is being bribed into [[spoiler: killing Nathan]], they start strangling each other and fall off the stage. [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]], when they come right back when the scene has passed just in time for Rotti's VillainousBreakdown.

* DealWithTheDevil: She signed a contract that in exchange for her digital corneas, she must be [=GeneCo=]'s opera singing spokeswoman forever. When she retires, ceasing to hold up her end of the bargain, the Repo Man will come to take her eyes.

* BaldWomen: An early scene shows that her dark hair is a wig, her illness presumably having caused her to lose her hair.

* BigBad: His murder of Marni kickstarted the film's central conflict and his hatred of Nathan, desire to make Shiloh his new heiress and abuse of Mag drive the film's plot.

** This is also evident regarding his children. Three children from three different mothers who all turned out petty, selfish, greedy, and surgery-addicted. The common denominator is him. Yet he blames their genes and intends to dump them for Shiloh, who only turned out decent because she was ''raised by someone else''.

The ailing [=GeneCo=] president, looking for a worthy heir. He sees his own children, Luigi, Pavi, and Amber (formerly Carmela/Heather), as "vultures" and "ingrates", and is bitter towards Nathan for stealing Marni from him. He is the one who poisoned Marni, in rage.

Rotti's only daughter. Luigi and Pavi's younger sister, she is addicted to both surgery and Zydrate, which she obtains illegally from [=GraveRobber=], in exchange for sex. She changed her last name from Largo to Sweet, as she "needed a stage name".

* EstablishingCharacterMoment: "Mark It Up" establishes a ''lot'' about the family. Mainly Luigi and Pavi's character, how the Largo's don't think much of each other, and the intense competition for [=GeneCo=].

* AmbiguousStartOfDarkness: A montage during "[[VillainSong Gold]]" shows that the horrible things he did, like legalize organ repossession, only happened after Marni left him for Nathan. Before that, he was hailed as a savior for solving the organ failure epidemic. The film as a whole leaves it ambiguous if Rotti was a VillainWithGood Publicity who stopped caring about the "good publicity" part after Marni, or if he's a straight example of LoveMakesYouEvil.
