* AdaptationalVillainy: Just about every member of LOVE, particularly those who make up the Council of the Dawn, was on the heroes' side in canon.[[note]]Gaara, Kankuro and Temari started out as antagonists during the Chuunin Exam arc but later underwent a HeelFaceTurn and became allies of Konoha, with Gaara in particular becoming one of Naruto's closest friends. Matsuri was a love interest for Gaara and also joined him and his siblings as an ally to Konoha and the other villages during the Fourth Great Ninja War. Chojuro, Darui and Kurotsuchi (of the Hidden Mist, Hidden Cloud and Hidden Stone villages, respectively) were allies of Konoha during said war. They're both in charge of the servants of their respective households, they both got training from Kyuushingai (Hinata by Yugito, Matsuri by Gaara and his siblings), they're both highly intelligent and cultured (Hinata plays the piano and is an expert dancer, Matsuri oversees her servants' gardening and manages the Dawn Council's affairs, and both of them have some skill in the kitchen), they both lost family members by death (Hinata lost her mother and paternal uncle, Matsuri lost both parents), they're both polite to and respected by their peers...but while Hinata was trained to fight so that she could protect herself and her loved ones and not have to be TheLoad, Matsuri was trained to fight for the sake of vengeance [[spoiler:for her step-uncle raping her]], and whereas Hinata upholds a genuinely sweet personality and rarely lets anything aggravate her despite the traumas she's faced, Matsuri's experiences have left her with a bitterness that she hides behind a poised and professional mask.
* GreenEyedMonster: She has this toward Hinata, as Gaara forces her to admit late into the story. Specifically, she's jealous of what she perceives as Hinata not having to go through anything more serious than [[MissingMom her mother's death]] due to being rich and privileged, while Matsuri herself didn't exactly have a good adolescence [[spoiler:what with losing her parents, then being raped by her step-uncle and forced to run away from home]]. Sumaru was a filler character and native of Hoshigakure who started out rude and aloof, but later became a friend to Naruto. Yura and Menma are more of the GreyAndGrayMorality range, as Yura, a Sunagakure native, was revealed to be a sleeper agent for Sasori but was nonetheless loyal to Sunagakure, and Menma was a filler character who inflicted LaserGuidedAmnesia on himself after taking part in the slaughter of a village, and at the end of his arc pulled a RedemptionEqualsDeath when that effort failed. Where the field agents are concerned, none of them were ever identified as being outright evil in canon; three of them were affiliated with Konoha, one was a member of the Allied Shinobi Forces, one was a filler ally of Naruto's, and one was a civilian (Nagato's father Ise) who was killed during an attack on the Hidden Rain Village by Konoha's forces in the back-story.[[/note]]

* GreenEyedMonster: She has this toward Hinata, as Gaara forces her to admit late into the story. Specifically, she's jealous of what she perceives as Hinata not having to go through anything more serious than [[MissingMom her mother's death]] due to being rich and privileged, while Matsuri herself didn't exactly have a good adolescence [[spoiler:what with losing her parents, then being raped by her step-uncle and forced to run away from home]].
