* BigEntrance: Charlie actively tries to come up with new and cool ways to enter the battlefield. He has a discussion with Astolfo about this, who suggests he come down from the sky and [[ThreePointLanding land on one knee and a fist like a superhero.]] Charlie [[LampshadeHanging initially questions the safety of such a pose]], [[RealityEnsues pointing out that he could hurt his hip or stab himself if he's holding his sword.]] Astolfo shoots back that awesomeness is more important than safety, which convinces Charlie to start jumping off roofs to practice, prompting Astolfo to mutter that he didn't think he'd actually do it.

* BoobsAndButtPose: As a MythologyGag to her Final Ascension in Fate/Grand Order, she adopts one on completing a stage.

* CoolPlane: The F-15 from ''Fate/Zero'' is back, and is used during his Noble Phantasm attack.

* RetCanon: After ''Fate/Grand Order'' showed off his Saber form's "Arondight - Overload" -- a blue pseudo-SwordBeam -- Berserker Lancelot was given the attack in ''Extella Link''. In September 2018, ''FGO''[='=]s Berserker Lancelot received an update giving him "Arondight - Overload"... a [[RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver black-and-red]] version more fitting his corrupted status, while ''Extella Link'' still has the original blue version, making it something of TheArtifact.

* DidTheyOrDidntThey: Before their last fight with Altera's forces, she and the protagonist are talking in their room. During this, she jumps on top of them, similar to what she had done twice before but had been stopped by Elizabeth. This time there's no one around to stop her. She makes it clear what she wants, and the protagonist offers no resistance before the screen fades to white and cuts to the two of them sleeping in bed together. It's obviously never stated outright, but it's highly implied that the two of them 'consummated' their "marriage".

* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: In ''Extella Link'', Nero praises Artoria's beauty as being a near-match for her own (high praise coming from a narcissist) and invites her for some alone time in her Roman baths. Saber -- already livid over Gilles repeating his ThoroughlyMistakenIdentity complex from ''LightNovel/FateZero'' -- [[RageBreakingPoint politely declines]].

** In ''Link'' one of her alternate costumes is a palette swap of Mordred's tube-top and short-shorts.

* IdenticalStranger: Strongly resembles the male protagonist from ''VideoGame/FategrandOrder.''

** According to Karl, the person called "Astolfo" does exist in the ''Fate'' series as one of his elite knights, but the real Astolfo was a completely different person in recognition, he never rode a Hippogriff since Phantasmal Species were not around in Karl’s time, nor did he ever dress in woman's clothes since the real Roland never went mad, making Astolfo's situation similar to Charlemagne's relation to Karl, albeit reversed: an existence born from the fantasies of the legends told after the real Astolfo's death.

* SayingTooMuch: To the point that it's one of his personal skills, Evaporation of Sanity. He can't be trusted to keep silly things like "True names" or "Noble Phantasms" a secret and will start blabbing about them given the slightest provocation. The skill also makes him a bit forgetful about important stuff. It's not all bad as it doubles as Instinct in battle, letting him have good insight as to the best course of action.

* ZettaiRyouiki: Grade A, which is weird given who she is.

* FailureIsTheOnlyOption: [[spoiler: "Body" Hakuno is destined to die at the end of every route, even should Altera win the war for his sake. In addition, as Elizabeth explains, even if Altera reassembles the regalia (and thus Hakuno's three separate parts) Body Hakuno would still suffer DeathOfPersonality upon merging with the Soul and Mind due to Body's current personality and consciousness only being the result of a (as the body themself calls it) a fluke. After becoming aware of this they resolve to make the best of the situation and fight (not to save themselves) but to save Alera from her tragic fate.]]

** Once again, it shows up at times. One example from the True route,[[spoiler: after Mind and Soul Hakuno are merged after which Tamamo and Nero immediatly start to bicker with eachother over who's Hakuno they are. Hakuno's internal response is golden:]]

* GenderNeutralWriting: Averted, curiously enough. Though the game was written with the male Hakuno in mind, the female Hakuno's gender will be referenced fairly frequently in the narration, with correct pronouns and plenty of characters referring to her as "woman", "girl", etc, not to mention that all CGs in which Hakuno appears have both a male and a female version. Only very few lines of dialogue erroneously refer to the female Hakuno as "him", and those are likely a result of the original Japanese using the (more common) gender neutral pronouns to refer to them and the translators deciding to go with "him" instead of "they" for whatever reason.

the motivation to reconcile Nero and Tamamo in order to advert disaster. This also sentences the current timelines "Body" Hakuno to deletion by the Moon Cell.

* LaserGuidedAmnesia: Suffers a bit at the start of the game. Most notably[[spoiler: their first meeting with Altera, Archimedes betrayal, and Hakuno splitting their body into three. The reason for the Mind and Soul's memory is originally blamed on the divison itself, with them only vagely able to remember a dark shadow attacking them. In actuallity however Archimedes himself was the one who was responsible for erasing their memories, ensuring they could not expose him as an enemy. The Bodies HeroicSacrifice at the end of the Dawn arc gives the current timelines version's of the three Hakuno's those memories back, cetting the stage for the[[GoldenEnding Golden Poem]] arc]]. The Bodies amnesia on the other hand is simply due to having lost both the mind and soul.

* FailureIsTheOnlyOption: [[spoiler: "Body" Hakuno is destined to die at the end of every route, even should Altera win the war for his sake. In addition, Elizabeth explains that even if Altera reassembles the regalia (and thus Hakuno's three separate parts) Body Hakuno would still suffer DeathOfPersonality upon merging with the Soul and Mind due to Body's current personality and consciousness only being the result of a (as the body calls it) fluke. They themselves are fully aware of this and thus (understanding that the same truth doesn't necessarily apply to Altera) Body Hakuno chooses to fight alongside to find a way to save Altera from her fate, fully accepting and understanding that they will disappear (in one form or another) no matter what happens.]]

** Once again, it shows up at times. One example from the True route,[[spoiler:after Mind and Soul Hakuno are merged which results in Nero and Tamamo immediately starting to fight over them. Hakuno's internal response is golden:]]

* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:"Body" Hakuno, at the end of the Dawn arc, uses the three pieces of the Regalia to send a record of their memories to their past self, at the cost of their life. This single act alerts Hakuno to Archimedes's true motives, as well as making them aware both of Altera's circumstances and the coming threat of Velbar, thus giving the Mind and Soul motivation to reconcile Nero and Tamamo in order to advert disaster. That has a side effect, because the Moon Cell recorded Body Hakuno's sacrifice, once the timeline reached the moment when their sacrifice occurred, the Moon Cell immediately set about deleting the Body in order to prevent errors.]]

* LaserGuidedAmnesia: Suffers a bit at the start of the game. Specifically [[spoiler:their first meeting with Altera, Archimedes's betrayal, and Hakuno splitting their body into three. Their "Body" preforming a HeroicSacrifice at the end of the Dawn arc to give their other thirds these memories is what triggers the [[GoldenEnding Golden Poem]] arc]].

* FrickinLaserBeams: His Noble Phantasm, Katoptron Katopregon, is the famous "Archimedes DeathRay". And unlike the one tested by the Series/{{Mythbusters}}, it works. [[WaveMotionGun Very much so]] [[note]]In fact, it actually ''derives'' its power from the fact that people like the Mythbusters failed to recreate it, which grants it extra Mystery by the rationale that it worked by drawing energy from the Age of Gods' mana-heavy atmosphere[[/note]].
** Additionally, a smaller laser is shot out during one of his combos.

* BloodKnight: More subdued about it than the other examples on this page, but he's overjoyed whenever he meets a WorthyOpponent, and will always cheerfully look forward to fighting them again. When he spares Li Shuwen so that the latter can get stronger for a potential rematch, Elizabeth specifically compares it to saving the best part of a meal for last.

* WorthyOpponent: To Arjuna, and vice-versa. Also identifies Gilgamesh and Li Shuwen as this for their power and skill, respectively.

* BloodKnight: More subdued about it than the other examples on this page, but he's overjoyed whenever he meets a worthy opponent, and will always cheerfully look forward to fighting them again. When he spares Li Shuwen so that the latter can get stronger for a potential rematch, Elizabeth specifically compares it to saving the best part of a meal for last.

* WorthyOpponent: To Arjuna, and vice-versa.

-->A swordswoman who speaks of herself as a king and dons a clear, deep crimson dress. Her personality exudes so much confidence that she unreservedly praises her own talents and considers herself a work of art.

-->A thick-skinned Heroic Spirit clad in a red mantle. He is sarcastic and cool-headed, but deep down, he is quite caring. Despite being an Archer, he can also handle hand-to-hand combat. He is not necessarily a powerful Heroic Spirit, but he can perform just about any task.

-->A very well-known Knight of the sun who was part of the Round Table in the legend of King Arthur. Known for his loyalty and convictions, he pledges to be the sword of his king. His diligence and his prodigal talent have brought him far, but have also left him unaccustomed to frustration. As a result, he sometimes has trouble reading the mood in a given situation.

-->The Child of Light from Ireland. Personality-wise, he comes across as aggressive and sociable. In battle, he fights without restraint. His cursed crimson spear, Gáe Bolg, is set up as an anti-army weapon.

-->A martial artist who has mastered the essence of fighting. Even though he is not a murderer by trade, he is a master at killing other martial artists, making him a fit for the Assassin category. To him, exchanging fists reveals the belief and determination of both people. By his nature, he always finds himself surrounded by death.

-->A beautiful woman whose pointed fox ears are her trademark. Endlessly smiling, but also sharp-tongued. She is devoted to calling the main character her "husband" but she does worry about her being an Anti-Heroic Spirit.

-->A hero of Indian mythology. He is the son of the Sun god. A handsome, white-haired man who shows neither affectation nor mercy to his enemies. His humanity is not evident at first glance, but his personality is actually very philosophical. People always say he is a man of too few words.

-->Rumored to have been a vampire in life. Now, she has finally been acknowledged as an Anti-Heroic Spirit. Her philosophy revolves around her own beauty, and has somehow led her to a spiritual awakening as an idol. Completely chaotic. Her immoral character is obvious from her demon horns, fangs, and split-end dragon tail, all of which apparently surfaced because the Bathory had dragon blood.

-->A general who is well-known for his betrayal during the Three Kingdoms period. As is the fate of a Berserker, he has lost all forms of thinking and reasoning, as well as the martial arts he learned in his lifetime. In exchange, he has gained huge physical stature with significantly high defense and offence.

-->A female monster in Greek Mythology. She is the youngest of of the three Gorgon sisters. A Servant with the properties of an Anti-Heroic Spirit, she is established as a hero who holds onto evil. Her current state is similar to a demon, but she was formerly a goddess.

-->A dark-skinned woman who wields a sword and wears a white outfit suited for battle. Her abilities as a Saber are unparalleled. Incidentally, there is no known hero on Earth who goes by the name "Altera"...

-->A hero from Mesopotamian mythology. The first king in human history to become a legend, he proclaims himself as "Mankind's Oldest Hero." A judge of men with the blood of a god in his veins. In order to obtain the source of every Noble Phantasm, he specializes in killing heroes.

-->The King of Conquerors from Macedonia. He is the kind of person who walks the Earth with a broad mind. He was a conqueror who was considered a statesman as well as an explorer, which is something one does not see regularly. He is one of history's greatest kings.

-->The holy maiden who saved the country of France. She is an honest and good-natured woman with a deep sense of faith. Her discipline leads her to stand with her moral virtues against any danger that faces her. Her flaw is taking everything too seriously.

-->Also known as King Arthur, the knight who leads the other knights of the Round Table. She was a king known to the world of her time as the "Dragon the Protects Britain." She increases her fighting abilities by using her tremendous amounts of stored mana. A single stroke from her is akin to being smitten by Heaven itself.

-->A genius mathematician who was far ahead of his time. As a Servant, he did not participate in the Holy Grail War, but was left in charge of monitoring the security of SE.RA.PH. His skills, achievements and personality gained him the trust of the Moon Cell, who made him its systems administrator. Tries his best to see things from outside his perspective and settle matters objectively.

* {{Adorkable}}: Surprisingly, Altera has these moments. [[spoiler:Especially as Titan Altera.]]

* {{Adorkable}}: He's incredibly earnest and enthusiastic about fighting alongside other Servants, particularly knights of legend like Sir Gawain. He gushes praise on everyone to the point of embarrassing them and constantly tries to look as cool as possible.

* LightningBruiser: The JackOfAllStats of the Sabers with a set-up of Strength (A), Endurance (B), Agility (B), Mana (A), Luck (A+) and NP (A++). Artoria's the fastest of all of the Sabers in terms of balance, hits hard as Altera, and is slightly less durable than Gawain. She's also slightly faster than Nero when chaining her attacks while hitting somewhat harder than Altera and Gawain, although the last two can take hits better. Interestingly, her stats are one of the three highest overall balanced stats in the game[[note]]alongside Altera and Karna[[/note]]. Her stats also give the impression that by nature, she's meant to clash with Altera at some point.

* WorldsBestWarrior: She's considered the strongest Saber summonable in the Moon Cell. Charlie can't make her budge an inch despite his best efforts and having power comparable to Top Servants. He would rather stand down and try to talk things out than go another round with her.

* WorldsBestWarrior: Of all the Lancers summonable in the Moon Cell, she's considered the strongest among them, above even the likes of Karna and Cu Chulainn, two other Top Servants. She pushes back Charlie rather easily and he has to work together with Cu in order to defeat her when she's Oraclized on one route.

* OfficialCouple: An... Unusual case due to [[LiteralSplitPersonality Hakuno being split into three]]. Because of this, while the 'canon' Hakuno is one with Nero and as such "Mind" Hakuno is one during the story, "Soul" and "Body" Hakuno are also this with Tamamo and Altera, respectively. At the end of the True Route, Hakuno is ''technically'' in a [[OneTrueThreesome poly relationship]] with Nero and Tamamo.

** She's even ''less'' happy during the True Route, as [[spoiler:after "Mind" and "Soul" Hakuno merge, she has to share them with Tamamo.]]

* DubNameChange: His real name in the localization was changed from Karl der Große to Rex Magnus Karl...which is '''[[ArtisticLicenseHistory not]]''' [[ArtisticLicenseHistory one of his many historical names]].

* TheLastOfTheseIsNotLikeTheOthers: He's the only Servant to lack BossSubtitles, since all his fights take place in boss arenas where battle intros never show up. His preview trailer gives him an intro calling him "Scholar of Syracuse", though this never has the chance to show up in-game.
** He's also the only Servant who when fighting [[spoiler:Sephyr]] mentions that it ''is'' possible to block most of her attacks while just about everyone else flat out says that the best method is to either jump, dash away or move to the corner of the map to avoid taking any damage. Most of the stages in his Side Story are also unique in that they appear blank/dark on his stage menu since they are locked due to story purposes meaning that no one can use them in Free Battle 'normally' [[spoiler:his first one is taking on the Velber Flagship which is story-locked in the Golden Poem Arc and is completely unusable unless you are doing the respective Main Story or his Side Story while his second one is merely taking on Sephyr meaning that you can reuse it]].

** The sequel [[spoiler:subverts it. Every finds him suspicious as hell but he'd honest about his motives, even when they don't necessarily align with the heroes'.]]

* HairDecorations: Her blue ribbon, which presumably keeps her PrimAndProperBun in place.

* BiTheWay: While many female servants fall for Hakuno regardless of gender, she gets special mention. Apart from being head over heels in love with her Praetor, she also notes Elizabeth to be adorable, and [[AdmiringTheAbomination openly acknowledges Altera's beauty]]. At other points, she also suggests having a bath with servant girls from the tropics, and also mentions wanting to be surrounded by cheering maidens. This makes sense as she states she loves all things beautiful. In ''Extella Link'' she propositions Artoria, noting her beauty is a close match to her own... but this only serves to infuriate "Blue Saber", who is fed up with being mistaken for and encountering people nigh-identical to herself.
