** In the Second Age, Crystal saved a then-mortal Princess Tough Love from getting executed by High Volt Havoc by warning his father Blue Suede Heartstrings about her joining a gang, which led to Blue Suede warning Tough Love's parents Teddy and Sweetheart. This allowed Teddy, Sweetheart, and their adoptive son Spike to intervene and save Tough Love while foiling High Volt Havoc's plans, causing Tough Love to [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone realize how badly she treated her family]]. After discovering Crystal's involvement, she thanked him for saving her life.

** Crystal is noted to be very protective of his friend, Shamrock Bloom, due to the latter's emotional sensitivity, and will come down ''hard'' on anyone who hurts him. Being an adoptive son of one of Ponyland's greatest musicians alive, Crystal was constantly pressured to follow in Blue Suede's footsteps, driving him to initially side with War Rock, Blue Suede's archenemy. However, after witnessing War Rock kill one of his own subordinates for speaking out, Crystal realized that War Rock is a monstrous sociopath and betrayed him. As punishment, War Rock brainwashed Crystal and set him upon Blue Suede, though Blue Suede would snap his son out of it by singing an old song he sang to Crystal as a baby. After serving time in jail for his actions, Crystal reconciled with his adoptive family and redeemed himself by becoming a highly-respected sound engineer... which culminated in him Ascending to demi-godhood when he risked his life to save a co-worker during a terrorist attack. With Luminiferous' help, Blue Suede taught his son how to Ascend to true godhood, which Crystal eventually succeeded at.\\\

Once Blue Suede woke up and made a full psychological recovery, Crystal would join him in the Equestrian Pantheon, though he became a joint-member of the Novellus Pantheon with his father's blessing.\\\

This includes being able to breathe underwater without issue. This is what in part allowed her to befriend Moon Ray Vaughoof, an older god of Water who shares similar water-based purification abilities.

* EvilCounterpart: Inverted. She's the 'Good Counterpart' to Duchess Vyléčit. Both are goddesses who embody concepts related to healing, medicine, and doctors, but unlike Medicina, a benevolent goddess who embodies Modern Medicine, Surgery, and Doctors, Vyléčit is a {{Sadist}} (though a constructive one) who embodies the unfettered/amoral aspects of Healing, Medicine, and Doctors. Vyléčit also sees nothing wrong with weaponizing her domains or performing twisted experiments on others with them, while Medicina is a staunch pacifist who primarily focuses on healing the sick and injured. Vyléčit sees Medicina's oath of 'Do no harm' as extremely foolish and has been teaching her that it's sometimes necessary to be CruelToBeKind when not opposing/tempting her.

Personality-wise, Crystal is seemingly the opposite of his adoptive father - he's hotheaded, blunt, outspoken, and rough-tongued, and feels incredibly shy when it comes to performing in front of large crowds. And unlike Blue Suede, Crystal is asexual, though he starts feeling sexual attraction once he forms deep relationships with others. However, they're both kind-hearted, humble, and tolerate towards other races, and they both share a love for music. Crystal in particular is a benevolent boss who cares for his workers and stage crews, though he doesn't coddle them and expects them to do their jobs correctly like any boss. He hates discrimination of all kinds, especially in the workplace, and has a strong work ethic, which led to him befriending people like Prince Clear Voice, Prince Lavur, and Prince Maestro I.\\\

However, Crystal does have flaws - he has struggled with anger issues for three Ages, and it nearly led to him becoming a racist bigot at one point after the Oceanaiads played a role in ending the Third Age. His work ethic can make him a workaholic at times, and his casual and blunt nature can make him come off his rude. His shyness can also create problems for him even though it's not as bad as it was before. By Crystal's own admission, he suffered from nightmares of his near-death experiences, whether via being crushed to death the day he Ascended or being unable to be rescued from War Rock's influence.\\\

Despite not being a 'prodigy deity' like Blue Suede, Crystal is still powerful in his own right. As a god of Sound, he has the same sound-based powers as his father, though they're more stronger due to him embodying Sound specifically. As a god of Technology, he can dismantle and build machines at extremely fast rates and holds control over technology in general, and can channel his sound spells through audio technology. His domain also gives him limited lightning powers. And as a god of Stage Crews, he has powers that pertain to enhancing, directing, and protecting his stage crews, such as telepathy, empathy, telekinesis, precognition, healing, and granting various other boons. Outside of his domains, he is skilled in hoof-to-hoof combat, wields a mighty warhammer named ''Little Less Conversation'', and is a beautiful singer, though he feels embarrassed about showing the latter.\\\

** He hates workplace corruption, and especially hates those who sabotage genuinely good, hard-working people for petty reasons like pride or greed. This is because after getting his first job as a newscaster, he was sabotaged by jealous peers who resented his success and popularity, and set him up so they have an excuse to get him fired.
** He hates people who use the news to promote their political agendas and/or hurt someone with malicious rumors and lies. When he was younger, he watched as the bigoted newscasters of his time used the news as a propaganda machine to spread and encourage racism all over the country, poisoning the minds of otherwise good people.

But when War Rock revealed his plans to subject Blue Suede to a SadisticChoice involving a group of fans that were taken hostage (and [[BadBoss killing one of his own minions for objecting]]), Crystal sees how truly monstrous War Rock is and betrays him. He gets BrainwashedAndCrazy for his troubles (after War Rock tells him he was responsible for sending the supervillain after his family) and sicced on Blue Suede, but thankfully Blue Suede snaps Crystal out of it with [[MusicSoothesTheSavageBeast an old song he used to sing to his son as a baby]]. Despite his role in War Rock's defeat, Crystal is sent to jail for his crimes, but his genuine guilt makes it short and he makes huge efforts to atone once he gets out, becoming a FormerTeenRebel.

Much like Creator/HideoKojima, his character inspiration, he has a tendency to troll both fans and non-fans alike, earning him the epithet "The Stallion Who Trolled the World". After Ascending to godhood, he announced to his fans that he became a god... [[GodInHumanForm only to show up in person later as a mortal Earth Pony]]. He then proceeded to reveal his true divine form anyway and announce, "[[HesBack I'm back!]]", to enthusiastic applause and cheering all over Equus/Tellus. This also factored into his Ascension itself, where he became the Alicorn god of ''Misdirection''.

* FantasticRacism: Defied and averted. He was so devastated by the Oceanaiads' role in the Third Age that he came dangerously close to becoming racist towards them out of rage and grief. Fortunately, Blue Suede would be there to comfort and help his son snap out of it by showing him the harmful consequences of bigotry in general. Apparently he [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone realized the error of his ways]], as he befriended Princess Opera Tide (a then-mortal Oceanaiad) and developed a hatred of racism in the workforce afterwards.

Unfortuantely for said followers, it's subverted when Crystal's selfless act allowed him to Ascend to [[SemiDivine demi-godhood]] instead, the magic from his apotheosis blowing the debris away in a great burst. His near-death experience would give Crystal trauma years later, as he dreamed about the fateful day where he died for real instead of Ascending. Fortunately, he had his family and friends to help him recover from it.

* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: Deconstructed. A lot of grief could've been avoided if he recognized War Rock as the monstrous, sociopathic, and selfish stallion he really is earlier. Unfortunately, all he could think about at the time was spiting his adoptive father, Blue Suede Heartstrings, and War Rock, seeing a chance to finally one-up his rival, was all too happy to string him along. He does recognize War Rock's true character later on and [[HeelFaceTurn betrays him]], but it also gets him BrainwashedAndCrazy and sicced on Blue Suede as punishment. He has learned his lesson afterwards, as he became good at sniffing out abusive and/or corrupt individuals, but his experiences also gave him nightmares.

This made him vulnerable to the likes of War Rock, who manipulated Crystal into siding with him by [[TheCorrupter preying on his insecurities]] and sending a supervillain after him and Record Beat while Blue Suede was away. It worked, as Crystal joined War Rock's forces and took every opportunity to slander Blue Suede's name and reputation... until War Rock unveiled his plan to subject Blue Suede to a SadisticChoice by outing himself as a musical fraud in exchange for the lives of his fans that War Rock had kidnapped. Seeing War Rock's true character drove Crystal to betray him, but unfortunately, he was made BrainwashedAndCrazy and sicced on his own father as punishment. Blue Suede saved his son and War Rock was defeated, but Crystal went to jail for his crimes and was dragged back home and [[WhatTheHellHero lectured]] by his parents once his sentence was finished. Blue Suede also made it very clear that he only loved his son for who he is, not for what he could become.

* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: He and Shamrock have this dynamic, with him being the 'Manly Man' to Shamrock's 'Sensitive Guy'. He's blunt, rough-tongued, outspoken, and hot-tempered, and he works as both a mechanic and sound engineer. Shamrock, meanwhile, is a talented ballet dancer who is emotionally sensitive overall and suffers from self-esteem issues at times. Despite their differences, he and Shamrock are good friends, and he will come down ''hard'' on anyone who hurts Shamrock.

He can magically activate dormant technology, dismantle/reconstruct machines extremely quickly, and create makeshift suits of armor from scrap parts in a pinch. He has psychic knowledge pertaining to any machine, whether created by himself or others, and this extends to any flaws and glitches that affect them, allowing him to repair them efficiently. He can also imbue machines and weapons with various boosts like increased firepower and working speed, and protection from jamming. Because he embodies Sound, Crystal can channel his sound-based spells through audio technology. Like all Technology deities and those like them, he can [[ShapeshifterWeapon shapeshift his body parts into weapons]]. His domain also gives him limited [[ShockAndAwe lightning powers]]. However, he lacks '[[TheEmpath technological empathy]]', which is why he developed interest in Steel Barricade's potential after the latter was discovered to have developed the ability.
