* ComesGreatResponsibility: During one LeParkour practice, Okajima and Kimura accidentally injure Matsukata, an elderly schoolteacher, putting the confidentiality of their mission in jeopardy. What's worse, the two refused to take responsibility for their actions, and none of the other students did either. As punishment, Koro-sensei bans them from studying for their second midterms, instead assigning them to work at a preschool Matsukata runs. Sure enough, they perform worse than last term's finals except Karma (who still finished at second behind Asano Jr.), instilling in them a fairly harsh lesson about their responsibility as assassins.

* TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior: They are tasked with a killing their own teacher, and instead of displaying fear or hesitance, they show great enthusiasm. Even more disturbing is that even after they've bonded with him, it didn't dull their purpose a bit. Granted, the fact that their target is not human may be a factor in this behavior, but still, as Karasuma mused, this is not normal:

** The Assassination Island arc is where their bond really begins to shine. After ten of them of are poisoned with a deadly virus, the mastermind [[spoiler:Takaoka]] demands Koro-sensei, Kayano, and Nagisa in exchange for the antidote. Rather than handing over two of their classmates and their teacher, the remaining seventeen, plus Karasuma and Irina, instead elect to leave two of them behind to take care of their sick friends while the rest infiltrate the hotel where the trade-off was supposed to take place and steal the antidote back. During the infiltration, they keep on going despite the increasing danger of the situation (including facing off against three pros), not a single one of them thinking of stopping or going back. [[spoiler:Then, before the start of Nagisa's second duel with Takaoka, two of them try to sneak up to help him and only stop because Takaoka threatened the only remaining vials of the antidote -- and even then, after Takaoka starts giving Nagisa a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown, many of them still consider interfering anyway because they can't bear to see one of their friends hurt like that]].

Whe Maehara questioned the usefulness of the knife drills, he demonstrated their usefullness by deflecting his strikes and then throwing him into the ground, and always without a change in expression. The pupils actually like him for it, even if they acknowledge it at the same time, because he praises them when they are successful in their training.

* {{Tsundere}}: He likes his coworkers well enough, but doesn't want to openly show it and keeps treating them harshly. In Koro-sensei's case, Karasuma doesn't forget he's his assassination target and can't be friendly with him. With Irina, Karasuma just finds her advances annoying and keeps his distance from her, while at the same time respecting her as a professional and hoping his rejections will help her not fall prey to what he percieves as emotional weakness. [[spoiler:Even when he's married to Irina seven years later, he keeps treating her coldly based on this mindset.]]

Some are fairly sensible ([[LudicrousPrecision 651.241]] times as fast as Usain Bolt's 100-meter dash) while others are ridiculous (133,333.33 times faster than the speed of falling sakura petals).
* ILetGwenStacyDie: [[spoiler:As he destroyed Yanagisawa's lab in his escape, Aguri tried to stop him with a CooldownHug, only for her to be fatally injured by the tentacle of an antimatter container. He became the teacher of Class 3-E to fulfill her last wish.]]
* IllKillYou: Koro-sensei threatens to kill the families of Class 3-E if any of them endanger one another during an assassination attempt, though from what is later learned about his personality, he was almost certainly bluffing.

* InvisibleStreaker: PlayedForLaughs; Koro-sensei uses his invisibility to avoid scaring a group of train passengers during a class trip, but his students point out that a random set of floating, disembodied clothing is just as unsettling.

Koro-sensei boasts an enormous number of extraordinary abilities and he uses nearly every single one of them to be a better teacher. Able to fly at Mach 20? Use your speed to visit different countries during lunch breaks in order to sample local cuisine. Able to create dozens of visual clones through sheer speed? Use them to divide your attention to give every single student simultaneous one-on-one instruction. Able to regenerate from even severe injuries in a matter of seconds? Use the ability to remove limbs to motivate your students to perform better on the next test.
* MyGreatestFailure: [[spoiler:Aguri's death]] led to his HeelRealization and motivation to teach Class 3-E. [[spoiler:In the end, he also admits he was an improper teacher to his apprentice, who betrayed him and later became the second "Reaper".]]

He is certainly not your traditional badass, but he can make himself appear so innocent that a man intent on beating him into submission was stunned into inaction long enough for him to get in position for what could easily have been a killing blow. Nagisa's long-time classmate who joined late due to being suspended from school for trashing his teacher's office. He started off holding a major grudge against all teachers, and as such is one of the students most dedicated to the assassination. Koro-sensei helped him get over that particular issue, but he is still a near-sociopath who loves to beat people who aren't his classmates into unconsciousness.

3rd best marksmanship, boys' side.

* AcademicAthlete: Karma is one of the best students in academics and sports (in fact, he would be one of the Five Virtuosos if he hadn't stood up for the bullied class 3-E student). Too bad he's a lazy delinquent.
* ArcVillain: While not exactly a straight up villain, he was definitely an antagonist to Koro-sensei in Chapters 4-6 (Season 1 Episode 3).
* AwesomeMcCoolname: In contrast to Kimura, who's embarrassed by his first name "Justice", Karma genuinely likes his name, which is a result of his parents loving Indian culture.
* AxCrazy: In the beginning of the series, he has shown a crazy obsession for killing Koro-sensei and is always keeping some sort of a weapon with him for that. It gets toned down after he learns to respect his teacher.
* BadassBoast: To no one's surprise, he has some of those from time to time. After his first encounter with Koro-sensei he says, "Don't run away, Koro-sensei. I'll show you what it means to be killed" complete his AnimalMotif, a [[SnakesAreSinister snake eye]], in the background. He also delivers the lines, "You're not gonna rank in the first place, ''I'' will" to Gakushuu Asano, ''even after'' previously failing to beating him and receiving a good dose of a HumblePie. And yes, not without sticking his tongue out, of course.
* {{Bishonen}}: Many of the girls state that he's pretty good looking and would've been a ladykiller id it weren't for his psychopathic tendencies.
* BitingTheHandkerchief: PlayedForDrama, but him biting his [[spoiler:test papers]] is a clear sign of how upset he is over [[spoiler:failing to beat Asano Jr. in the math portion of the first term finals, and on top of that performing worse in the midterms when Class 3-E had a handicap.]] This is omitted in the anime adaptation, as he only crumples them.
* TheBGrade: A bit downplayed in the anime, but he leaves the class immediately after eveyone's test results got revealed then he is seen [[spoiler:crumpling his own test papers]] all alone by a tree. The manga plays it straight with him going far as [[spoiler:biting the corner of his exam papers]].
* BrilliantButLazy: Aside from assassination attempts, he never seems to put much effort into ''anything'', even training. Not that it affects his overall performance much. [[DeconstructedTrope Comes to bite him in the ass]] [[spoiler:during the first term finals where he performs badly enough to go from 4th to 13th place in school rankings. Certainly, he still did great for someone who didn't study at all, but he ''could have done better''. And, all involved ''know this''.]]
* BrutalHonesty: Goes well with his direct and courageous nature, as he has no qualms about pointing out people's flaws to their face regardless of whether it hurts them or not. For example, when the whole class is cautious about mentioning the weird accent a dangerous assassain had, Karma casually asks the assassain about it like he is asking about the weather. The rest of the class, then, expresses gratitude for Karma's existence.
* BloodKnight: He is usually the first one who gets involved in a fight, even when he hasn't agitated for it in the first place. And just [[http://www.mangareader.net/assassination-classroom/65/13 look at his face]] while engaged in real combat with an adult assassin! Koro-sensei notes that Karma prefers fightig opponents all-out, over executing a covert assassination.
* BreakTheHaughty:
** Karma gets a little too proud of his early successes against Koro-sensei. However, all he really managed to do was to draw his full attention, causing him to put Karma in his place by dealing with his attempts in the most offhanded and humiliating ways until Karma is driven to a SuicideAttack. Fortunately for him, Koro-sensei always fixes what he breaks.
** Chapter 54 really puts him in his place when [[spoiler:his overall ranking slips after failing to adequately study for the first-term finals]]. This ends up [[DeconstructedTrope deconstructed]] later on. [[spoiler:Afterwards he starts [[HeroicSelfDeprecation calling himself an idiot]], remarking that Koro-sensei would get on his case if his scores in the next finals were anything but perfect, and when he does get a perfect score he obviously feels more relieved than excited and accomplished.]]
** Near the end of the series, Korosensei interrupts one of Karma's fights and gives him a talk about how violence is not always the answer. He swallows his own pride when dealing with [[spoiler:Craig Hojo's Wolfpack]], he bows to them and apologizes in English so they can understand and even obeys when they tell him to recite the apology in Japanese to mock him. Consequently, they let Yada go after having a good laugh over Karma's behaviour.
** Terasaka gives him a good dose after defeating Itona using Karma's plan. Karma refers to himself as Terasaka's boss, who is none too pleased with the statement, causing him to throw Karma down into the water while the rest of the class splashes him.
* BrokenAce: One one hand, he is one of the most physically capable students, having ranked third in marksmanship, as well as the best in academic performance and the second-best track record among the normal human students when it comes to threatening Koro-sensei. On the other hand, he is still not all there, however good he is at things he tries. It's partly down to having been let down before.
* BrokenPedestal: A teacher he looked up to protected him from the consequences of his {{Bully Hunt|er}}ing habits because of his good grades... until he targeted the "wrong" person, who so happened to have been caught bullying a Class 3-E student. The pedestal breaking is (very) graphically depicted by the teacher crumbling to dust until only a skeleton remains. Which is then followed by showing the aftermath of Karma ''utterly'' trashing said teacher's office in retaliation, with the teacher himself being completely terrified even though Karma did not lay a hand on him.
* BullyHunter: It was this hobby of his that landed him in Class 3-E when he beat up a top-ranking student in defense of a member of said class. He still gets massive kick out of seeking out and harassing individuals with nasty personalities.
* ButterflyKnife: For added cool, the anime gives Karma one during his introductory attack on Koro-sensei. He even shows off a few tricks before pocketing it.
* CharacterDevelopment: Sheds his BrilliantButLazy traits after his TheReasonYouSuckSpeech and BreakTheHaughty moments, as shown in Chapter 76, when a panel depicting his room shows that he has actually been studying. It pays off during [[spoiler:the second semester midterms, where he ranks second, and is the only student in Class 3-E with improved scores despite having insufficiently prepared for the exams.]] His character development is so evident that even Koro-sensei and his peers comment on it.
** In the final exams, Karma is faced with a math question even Asano struggles with. After calmly reading it through, he realizes the answer while acknowledging the talents of everyone around him. Before, he simply disregarded other people's strength, but after getting the highest mark in the exam, he admits he wouldn't have been able to come that far without E Class and Korosensei.
* ChekhovsGun: He has very sharp canines unique only to him. They actually come in handy near the end during [[spoiler:his fight with Nagisa when, in order to prepare for the Stun Clap]], he bites his tongue hard enough to make it bleed, and it turns out to be effective.
* CheshireCatGrin: He's often seen wearing a wide, open-mouthed grin, especially when he's in the middle of ruining someone's day.
* CombatPragmatist: Justified by the nature of the series. His real strength lies in his intelligence and traps.
* CorruptBureaucrat: What he wants to be when he grows up. [[spoiler:In the epilogue, he enters a government admission test, with the intention to carve his name into Japan's political history.]]

* EveryoneHasStandards: While Karma has no problems committing wanton violence, even goes out of his way to seek it at times, he only does so to people he feels deserves it. And despite this tendency, even he is unnerved by the revelation of Koro-sensei's past as the "God of Death". Karma may be a delinquent with a violent streak, but he has his limits too.
* EvilRedhead: At first, he gave the impression of a genuine psycho, with his red hair a visual cue to how fascinated he was with spilling blood. He becomes more of a FieryRedhead afterward.
* FatalFlaw: His biggest flaws are his excessive {{Pride}} and [[InsufferableGenius]]/[[BrilliantButLazy]] attitude, though they ''occasionally'' can be his strength, most of the times they lead him to failures in which he learns, through the help of Koro-sensei, to accept losing sometimes. * FearlessFool: "Fool" may be a strong word, but he is reckless and fearless. He admitted to Okuda that his lack of fear scares him, as he feels he's incapable of being alert, which he realizes could cost him dearly in certain situations.
** Subverted with Nagisa, who Karma eventually admits [[TheDreaded scares him enough that he has to suppress a violent urge to beat him to a pulp]], so much so that it's what caused Karma to distance himself from Nagisa before they were both sent to E-class.
* FirstNameBasis: Most of his classmates, as well as Koro-sensei, call him by his first name. He's called by his last name only very occassionally.
* {{Foil}}: Gakushuu might be one being set up for him, seeing as both students are the strongest of their respective classes. The fact that [[spoiler:Karma lost to him during the first-term finals]] really got to him. Their parallelism is particularly noticeable in the anime where design choices have made them look nearly identical at a glance, aside from their hair and eye colors. Both of them also experience a WakeUpCall moment.
* TheGadFly: Oh boy. Karma has made riling up people and annoying them for no reason his hobby. When Terasaka warns him against challenging Koro-sensei, he retaliates by mentioning that it's not like a certain someone who was scared and peed themselves, referring to that time Terasaka also tried to challenge Koro-sensei but got intimidated by him instead. And this is Karma in only his first appearance.
* GeniusSweetTooth: The smartest student in Class 3-E and has an apparent love of sugary beverages.
* GuileHero: His EstablishingCharacterMoment has him offer Koro-sensei an introductory handshake... with a hand that's secretly covered in anti-sensei fragments. Other highlights include his plan in Chapter 49.
* HandsOffParenting: The [[AllThereInTheManual Class Roll]] reveals that he's from a wealthy family and his parents are rather free-spirited, living under the motto of doing things immediately. It's also stated that his parents spend most of the year traveling and are rarely home as a result, which probably explains his unchecked violent tendencies.
* HellishPupils: His pupils turn to unnatural snake-like ones before he begins to relentlessly taunt Nagisa in the 17th episode of the 2nd season.
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: After choking down his helping of HumblePie, he quickly picks up the habit of calling himself stupid.
* HumblePie: See BreakTheHaughty above. And Koro-sensei takes the opportunity to rub it in even further, knowing that those humbling experiences will keep him from ever half-assing things again in the future.
* IShallTauntYou: A common tactic of Karma's that he's very skilled in. If he isn't doing it himself he's coaching others in how to do it.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Karma is initially introduced as a lunatic who was suspended for his problematic behavior at school. However, it's soon revealed the he actually had been a BullyHunter, in addition to being an excellent student. What landed him in Class 3-E wasn't his penchant for mayhem, but rather siding with a Class E student who was being bullied.
* KarmicTrickster: Not that his name and habit of hunting bullies isn't a warning... and you do need that warning for when he gets serious. Do not provoke him -- [[LetsGetDangerous mayhem ensues]].
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: [[spoiler:At the end of the civil war game, he taps out after Nagisa puts him in a triangle armlock. Even though he has enough strength left to attempt to tag him out with his knife at hand, he chooses not to after realizing that Nagisa's desire to save Koro-sensei was so strong he's willing to go against his own reservations over fighting.]]
* TheLeader: Type I for [[spoiler:Class E's Red Team]]. He's surprisingly an excellent one too, as he's able to recognize both the strengths and weaknesses of his classmates and how to put said traits to good use.
* ALessonInDefeat: His scores slip during the first term finals because he was arrogant about his intelligence and didn't study hard enough to succeed with the increased difficulty. Fortunately, he takes the lesson to heart, and starts working much harder from then on.
* ManiacTongue: He LOVES to stick his tongue out every time he's being his crazy, playful self, it's like an "[[SillyMeGesture I'm so silly" gesture]] of his own. Also doubles as a CharacterTic.
* ManlyTears: [[spoiler:At the end of Chapter 177, having helped Nagisa assassinate Koro-sensei, Karma is seen openly shedding tears for the one person who helped restore his faith in authority figures and learn the importance of effort.]]
* MeaningfulName: "Karma" is the concept of a person's experiences being a result of his/her past actions, and fitting for a BullyHunter, Karma enjoys giving bullies a dose of their medicine, if a little too much. He also reveals that his parents loved India, and he actually likes it. Also he, himself would be effect when he got [[BreakTheHaughty too arrogant]].
* MusclesAreMeaningless: He has a perfectly average build, and yet is the most physically powerful student in the class, even more so than the muscular Terasaka. He can even pose a threat to trained adults. [[spoiler:And when Nagisa gets him in a tricky choke hold, Karma is able to quickly stand up despite Nagisa hanging off his neck and shoulders.]]
* NightmareFetishist: When asked which girl in 3-E he liked, he immediately said Okuda because of her skill with chemistry, and thus her ability to brew deadly poison. In the anime, he has an imagine spot of her as a cackling witch stirring up something in a cauldron and himself as a demon, and called it a "match made in heaven". His friends are not so sure about the "heaven" part though.
* NotAfraidToDie: Karma jumped off a cliff as part of an assassination attempt. He wasn't sure if Koro-sensei would even try to rescue him, and even if he did, if Karma's plan had gone as he intended he would have fallen to his death after killing Koro-sensei. He's since become a lot less willing to throw his life away, though.
* OddFriendship:
** You wouldn't think a fearless, reckless and outgoing guy like him would be friends with a meek, shy and soft-spoken boy like Nagisa, but they are.
** He's also close friends with [[ShrinkingViolet Okuda]], the only girl in the class who doesn't find him scary. In return, Karma doesn't feel the need to be cautious around her, and even confesses to her about his insecurities regarding his lack of fear. The guidebook even refers to their friendship as the most easy going of the male-female relationships in Class E. The oddness of their relationship doesn't go unnoticed by their peers, who are baffled by it as well.
* OralFixation: Chews things -fingernails, paper, whatever- when he's seriously upset.
* ThePrankster: He ''loves'' to play all types of pranks on literally eveyone, like for example him torturing an adult assassain, even after he already defeated and tied him up, by [[CoolAndUnusualPunishment sticking, ghost pepper, the spiciest pepper in the world, up his nose]] of all places. This is often combined with his mischievous ManiacTongue face.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: He can effortlessly subdue [[BigGuy Terasaka]] using one hand, despite being barely half his size. Inverted, as Karma's not that short since he is 175cm (5'8"), which is an average height for a Japanese teenage boy, while Terasaka is only barely taller at 180cm (5'10") but is bulkier in comparison.

* GroinAttack: He gets a verbal one. After he changes back from the girl outfit to his normal clothes, Karma suggests he should get rid of "it". Needless to say, Nagisa is not amused and wants to keep "it".

* RedOniBlueOni: The Blue to Karma's Red, as shown by their hair colors. Nagisa is calm, withdrawn and not very confident of himself, while Karma is violent, vicious and arrogant.

* UncannyValleyGirl: RareMaleExample. He looks girly and is a sweet kid to boot. Nevertheless, beware if he smiles gently at you, especially after you've done something horrible.

* BreakoutCharacter: Karma is the most popular student alongside Nagisa, and he's one of the most prominent and important students of the series.

** Near the end of the series, Korosensei interrupts one of Karma's fights and gives him a talk about how violence is not always the answer, and that sometimes, he has to swallow his own pride and keep his head down. This helps him out later when [[spoiler:Craig Hojo's Wolfpack]] are threatening Yada and he goes in the fight them. Unfortunately, they are all very large and he has no chance of defeating them on his own.So, he heeds Korosensei's words, and insted of fighting, he bows to them and apologizes in English, so they can understand what he's saying. He even obeys when they tell him to recite the apology in Japanese to mock him. Consequently, they let Yada go after having a good laugh over Karma's behaviour.

* {{Delinquent}}: He often skips classes, loves to pick fights on streets and anywhere, and was suspended before the beginning of the series.
** He's also the only character in the series confirmed to have been suspended. Not even Terasaka has gone that far.
* EmptyEyes: Karma's eyes lack the shine his classmates have, making him appear just a bit... ''off'' compared to the others.
** The only other characters like this are Asano and his father. All three of them pretty much qualify as manipulative psychopaths.

* {{Expy}}: Let's see: Has red hair, good fighter, really intelligent but skips class a lot, got in trouble for fighting an abusive teacher until his faith was restored in them after trying to fight his current kooky teacher, and is placed in the "worst" class of the school but cares for his friends? He is essentially a slightly more evil version of [[Manga/{{Gokusen}} Shin]].

* FieryRedhead: His red hair matches his violent and rebellious personality.

* {{Foil}}: Gakushuu might be one being set up for him, seeing as both students are the strongest of their respective classes. The fact that [[spoiler:Karma lost to him during the first-term finals]] really got to him. Their parallelism is particularly noticeable in the anime where design choices have made them look nearly identical at a glance, aside from their hair and eye colors. Both of them also experience BreakTheHaughty/WakeUpCall moments.

* HellishPupils: His pupils turn to unnatural snake-like ones before he begins to relentlessy taunt Nagisa in the 17th episode of the 2nd season.

* HumblePie: During the second round of exams, Karma didn't study like everyone else did and only gets decently high grades as a result. He had gone in expecting to ace it, so he's completely humiliated that he ended up with some of the worst grades in the class. Koro-sensei takes the opportunity to rub it in even further, knowing that this experience will keep him from ever half-assing things again in the future.

* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: The Manly Man to Nagisa's Sensitive Guy.

* AnimalMotifs: A snake, symbolizing his viciousness and his ability to hide in plain sight, like a snake in the grass.

* AxCrazy: In the beginning of the series, he has shown a crazy obsession for killing Koro-sensei. It toned down after he learns to respect his teacher.
* BerserkButton: He snaps on Nagisa when, not only does he [[spoiler:refuse to kill Koro-sensei]], but also because Nagisa denied being good at assassination and that Karma is better, likening it to a beautiful, popular girl telling uglier girls that they shouldn't care so much about getting boys's attention.
* {{Bishonen}}: Several of the girls state that he's pretty good looking and would've been a ladykiller but for his psychopathic tendencies.
* BitingTheHandkerchief: PlayedForDrama without tears, but biting his [[spoiler:test papers]] is a clear sign of how upset he is by [[spoiler:failing to beat Asano Jr. in the math portion of the first term finals, and on top of that performing worse than in the midterms when Class 3-E had a handicap.]]

** Near the end of the series, Korosensei interrupts one of Karma's fights and gives him a talk about not being able to solve situations with violence. He has to learn that sometimes he will need to swallow his pride and keep his head down. This helps him out later when [[spoiler:Craig Hojo's Wolfpack]] are threatening Yada and he goes in the fight them. However, he heeds Korosensei's words and instead of going through with the fight, he bows to them and apologizes, in English, so they can understand what he's saying. He even obeys when they tell him to recite the apology in Japanese to mock him. Consequently, they let Yada go after having a good laugh over Karma's behaviour. Later, Karma and the rest of Class E get their revenge while [[spoiler:raiding the mountain to say good-bye to Korosensei]]. He and Nagisa even pull off a spectacular combo-attack against [[spoiler:Hojo]] himself.
** Terasaka gives him a good dose after defeating Itona using Karma's plan. Karma refers to himself as Terasaka's boss, who is none to pleased with the statement, causing him to throw Karma down into the water while the rest of the class splashes him.

* CharacterDevelopment: Sheds his BrilliantButLazy traits after his TheReasonYouSuckSpeech and BreakTheHaughty moments, as shown in Chapter 76, when a panel depicting his room shows that he has actually been studying. It pays off during [[spoiler:the second semester midterms, where he ranks second, and is the only student in Class 3-E with improved scores despite having insufficiently prepared for the exams.]]

* EveryoneHasStandards: While Karma has no problems committing wanton violence, even goes out of his way to seek it at times, he only does so to people he feels deserves it. And despite this tendency, even he is unnerved by the revelation of Koro-sensei's past as the "God of Death". Karma may be a delinquent with a violent streak, but he isn't a murderer.
* EvilRedhead: At first, he gave the impression of a genuine pyscho, with his red hair a visual cue to how fascinated he was with spiling blood. He becomes more of a FieryRedhead afterward.

* {{Foil}}: Gakushuu might be one being set up for him, seeing as both students are the strongest of their respective classes. The fact that [[spoiler:Karma lost to him during the first-term finals]] really got to him. Their parallelism is particularly noticeable in the anime where design choices have made them look nearly identical at a glance, aside from their hair and eye colors.

* HandsOffParenting: The [[AllThereInTheManual Class Roll]] reveals that he's from a wealthy family and his parents are rather free-spirited, living under the motto of doing things immediately. It's also stated that his parents spend most of the year traveling and are rarely home as a result.

* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Karma is initially introduced as a lunatic who was suspended for violent behavior. However, it's soon revealed the he actually had been a BullyHunter, in addition to being an excellent student. What landed him in Class 3-E wasn't his penchant for mayhem, but rather siding with a Class E student who was being bullied.

* NightmareFetishist: When asked which girl in 3-E he liked, he immediately said Okuda because of her skill with chemistry, and thus her ability to brew deadly poison. In the anime, he has an imagine spot of her as a cackling witch stirng up something in a cauldron and himself as a demon, and called it a "match made in heaven".

** He's also close friends with Okuda, the only girl in the class who doesn't find him scary. In return, Karma doesn't feel the need to be cautious around her, and even confessed to her about his insecurities regarding his lack of fear. The guidebook even refers to their friendship as the most easy going of the male-female relationships in Class E.
* OralFixation: Chews things -- fingernails, paper, whatever -- when he's seriously upset.

* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: [[spoiler:On the receiving end from Koro-sensei after he gets lower scores than previously on the first-term finals.]] Of course, it was to help him learn and grow, but it was still harsh-sounding enough to qualify.
* RedOniBlueOni: The Red to Nagisa's Blue, as shown by their hair colors. Karma is violent, vicious and arrogant, while Nagisa is calm, withdrawn and not very confident of himself.
* {{Sadist}}: Coming in hand-in-hand with his BloodKnight tendencies, Karma clearly gets kicks out of bringing cruel and unusual harm to people, and often looks for excuses to get involved in fights or pull nasty tricks. He does, however, [[EveryoneHasStandards draw the line at hurting people who he feels haven't done anything to deserve it]], and mostly limits himself to being BullyHunter. His propensity for violence is undeniable, though, as during the [[spoiler: class civil war game]] Karma's inner monologue displays a disturbing amount of genuine, ''gleeful'' desire to beat [[spoiler: Nagisa]], one of his closest friends, to a bloody pulp.

* ShipperOnDeck: He is Nagisa/Kayano shipper, although it's mostly so he can make fun of them.

* SlasherSmile: Does this creepy very often when planning something dark.

** Subverted during chapters 147 to 149 with [[spoiler:Nagisa]] of all people, although in context it was within grounds. Karma admits that [[spoiler: Nagisa's natural killing talent scared him so much he's had to suppress the urge to beat Nagisa up in pre-emptive self-defense]], which he couldn't bring himself to actually do when the playing field was obviously unbalanced. When the [[spoiler: Civil War Game]] ends up giving him an actual opportunity to do so, [[FamilyUnfriendlyViolence he does ''not'' hold back]], and the manic grin he has on for the majority of the fight is borderline disturbing.

* UnskilledButStrong: In regards to Nagisa. Nagisa has more natural talent as an assassin [[spoiler:and got Karma trapped in a flying triangular choke as soon as Karma grabbed him in their fight, but Karma is able to stand up even with Nagisa dangling from his neck and almost punch back all from sheer brute strength.]]
* WakeUpCall: Gets this after the mid-term exams. His classmates studied hard both to ace the exams and win their bet with the elite of the school. But he relied too much on his natural talent to think he even needed to study. However the end result proved otherwise as he doesn't even make it into the top ten of the scoring. Kuro-Sensei chides him for it and tells him just because he has talent, that's no excuse to stop honing it, especially when his other classmates are doing their best to better themselves from their flaws. Karma takes it to heart and becomes more active with the other E-Class students going forward.

* XanatosGambit: Tries this to kill Korosensei. The plan goes that he will jump off a cliff holding an Anti-Sensei gun, so when Korosensei goes to save him, he will kill his teacher. However, he still wins if Korosensei either doesn't try to save him, or evades the shot, as Karma will still die and Korosensei will have failed as a teacher. Luckily for both of them, Korosensei saves him by forming a web out of his tentacles and covering them with adhesive mucus to save and restrain Karma from shooting.

* {{Troll}}: When he starts [[ItAmusedMe really enjoying himself]], he can cross the line from the [[TheTrickster Tricksterish]] BullyHunter to outright troll in seconds. And, you ''really'' don't want him to do that when he's holding tubes of wasabi paste or anywhere near [[BlazingInfernoHellfireSauce Scotch Bonnets]]... comes rather too close to ForTheEvulz for comfort.

* BerserkButton: When Irina calls the class the "E class jerkwads" and tells them that studying would be meaningless, she gets pelted with school supplies by the whole class (minus Nagise, who just covers his ears due to the noise) after one of them tells her to GetOut
