* MoodWhiplash: In episode 16, Maxim arrives at the conclusion that he'll never achieve his true potential as long as he keeps treating his team like tools and begins to warm up to them for the first time ever. We see him genuinely concerned for Diana and Lyudmila and actually calling Dersu and Ignat by their names. When Dersu touchingly expresses his gratitue for being called by his actual name [[spoiler:he's immediately shot dead by a brainwashed Diana.]]

The second season, subtitled ''Hoshi no Kyojin'' (and officially translated as ''The Gentle Giants of the Galaxy''), began airing in the Fall2016Anime season; besides bringing Azuma's sister Kaoruko back into the spotlight, it introduces more of the backstory behind the different international Buranki teams, as well as deepening the conspiracies hinted at in the first season.

The leader of the Russian team is evil, but the rest only follow him out of duty [[spoiler:and eventually leave him to have his Heart destroyed]]
