Revisiting this page and the discussion after the Sarah Z video is a trip.
I've been here too long. Regretting choosing this screenname ten years ago. Hide / Show RepliesEbony has confessed to being a troll, so we can finally put that note down.
Hide / Show RepliesCan't say I'm too surprised. I read Ebony's confession thread on her Dev Art account, and it sounds like they're implying Idiosy was Thomas. Of course, who really knows?
Do we have any proof this was legitimately her account? Dozens upon dozens of people have claimed to be Tara. EDIT: My bad, saw Ebony and thought I was on the My Immortal page for a sec
Edited by TheGoldenCrow Literally any other sci-fi hero and half the players could\'ve talked the Catalyst into destroying itself and Shepard just listens to it.She's now deactivated her Deviant ART, and took Prayer Ponies off Fan Fiction
It kind of annoys me that there was ever a question as to whether this was a Troll Fic. If the roles of the Prayer Warriors and "Satanists" were flipped, there would be no question! We'd just plain 'know' whoever wrote it wasn't being serious.
- Follow the Leader: To My Immortal, not helping its case due to the sheer number of similarities this series has to the fanfic. Word of God states that all those references were done unintentionally.
I deleted this because I wasn't sure what it's saying. Anyone got any ideas?
Hide / Show RepliesThey're claiming the Prayer Warriors series is a copycat of My Immortal due to the similarities between both fics.
I have a copy of the first four Prayer Warrior fanfics. Should I repost them?
Hide / Show RepliesIf you do let me know. I write commentaries on bad fanfics as a hobby and I can't find PW without commentary already written for the life of me.
Literally any other sci-fi hero and half the players could\'ve talked the Catalyst into destroying itself and Shepard just listens to it.Surprisingly(or not if you're use to trolling.)Idiosy came back on immediately before Prayer Warriors: The Crusades were written.
Hide / Show RepliesEbony's now accusing Idiosy of hacking her accounts. Are they trolls or not? I'm confused.
I think it's a group of trolls, and this pretending to be the real deal sometimes is some sort of game of theirs.
It's a sad day for us, as Ebony Brown has returned again, and has put Prayer Ponies on fanfiction.net again
Ebony's been hacked, with Prayer Ponies removed.
Hide / Show RepliesWell, I've removed the FF.Net link. What's her profile look like (I don't have the link to that)?
It's called 'Ebony Brown is a whore' and warns you not to troll the way she does, or the hacker will come after you. See here, http://www.fanfiction.net/u/3431602/
I think we could have a character sheet. It could document a lot, like every OOC Moment. For one, The Prayer Ponies is more or less a giant OOC Moment for Twilight Sparkle, such as her mentioning she won't believe anything unless she properly sees it in Feeling Pinkie Keen, yet she converts after hearing what Christianity is. And she defriends Spike over his lack of religion, which also leads to Unfortunate Implications considering she is like a mother to Spike, so it's like a Real Life parent throwing out their child due to different beliefs. And that is just a small amount of the OOC Moments throughout the entire series. (Sorry if this felt overly long)
Ebony has put Prayer Ponies back on Fan Fiction.Net and has said she's going to continue it... As painful as it is, we need this info.
Hide / Show RepliesNoah has hacked into Thomas' account and deleted the stories, putting up parodies instead. We need it added.
Hide / Show RepliesI killed all the deadlinks and put up the Player Worriers. Too bad Noah didn't leave the original fics for dramatic readings.
A girl named Suzy has a copy of them, but she's only upload the first two so far. Finger cross she'll upload the rest.
Has anyone counted how many times Grover dies yet?
Hide / Show RepliesHere's my tally:
The Evil Gods I: 3
Battle With the Witches: 0
Threat of Satanic Communism: 2
The Evil Gods II: 1
So the grand total is 6. So far.
Edited by DAWow, it felt like he died more times. Although there are a few other characters that come back to live, such as Mary and Ebony. Does anyone in Battle With the Witches die and come back, I cannot remember and I don't want to put myself through reading this rubbish again.
Yeah, I was surprised it was only that many too.
In Battle With the Witches, Harry gets killed by Ebony and comes back. I don't remember anybody else off the top of my head. I know Ron and Ginny stay dead.
As I mention before, both Ebony and Mary get killed and then come back to life. I think Benry comes back twice in the Threat of Satanic Communism. Thelia died at the beginning of The Evil God I and comes back in II. But these fanfics are so messed up with plotholes that I don't think the reader really cares in the end.
Clarisse also dies offscreen in the second chapter/intro to Commonism. This one doesn't even bother to say how she died...just that she "died a martyr's death" somehow and those EVOL gay people were to blame. She's back in Chapter 8.
Isn't Evol a Sonic Youth album? Did Thomas actually say Evol?
But yeah, it would be awesome to create a list of all the contradictions in this fanfic, but I got a feeling it'll be longer than the contradictions in the Bible.
I said "EVOL" to make fun of the author's homophobia.
I should also add that now Obama has been added to the "died and came back" list. It happened in The Evil Gods II
Yeh, I've read it. I know he died, but when does he come back to life?
Toward the end of Chapter 5, after they beat the vampires. They throw him in prison afterward.
LOL, just re-read it now. I never noticed that the first time I read it. I think its funny how they stab the vampires with a steak. I wonder if that's another My Immortal reference?
Ive just read the latest chapters and Grover dies again 2 more times.
This reminds me of My Immortal where Draco comes back to life without the author explaining the most important question of 'why?'
Edited by GorloAnyone noticed the fact that a lot of the fight scenes in Satanic Commonism seemed to be ripped from The Iliad or The Odyssey? The Iliad, in particular, has similar diction (although it's obviously a lot better). Also, Brown starts babbling about chariots and spears and bronze cuirasses and other Ancient Greek stuff in 1917 Russia...
Hide / Show RepliesYeah... I noticed that stuff too. He most likely stole parts from the Iliad, put it through Google translator, and then added it into his fanfic. That might explain the battle scene with Rika which makes no sense what so ever.
The Iliad's got plenty of readily available English translations. He might have copypasted them...
That is most likely true for most of the copypasted sections, but I am sure he put through part of it through a Translator and that is why the Rika battle scene doesnt make sense.
Actually, the Rika scene isn't much like the Iliad. The scenes fighting Soviet Mooks are more like it.
He mentions "Argive" which is another name for Greece, and the use of shield and sword pretty much points towards the Illiad which has been put through a translator a few times.
But there's no reason to put it through a translator. There are readily available translations everywhere. In fact, it would be substantially harder to get the original Ancient Greek than it would to get an English translation.
However, I can't really think of any way this would resolve itself if the author wasn't a troll. Why the hell would this super-hard-line Christian dude just throw in references to the Iliad?
I am not 100% percent sure on this but I think I might know who wrote some parts of the Prayer Warriors. A few people keep mentioning this guy. I doubt he wrote any of the later Prayer Warrior fanfics, but I do think he had something do with the first two and maybe parts of the third. His style seems similar to Thomas Brown.
What do guys think?
Hide / Show RepliesThis guy might also have something to do with the Prayer Warriors, but I am not too sure. He might simply be an attention seeker, much like the people who claim to have written My Immortal.
I believe Thomas mentions both those guys as flamers of his. Idiosy, definitely. But hey, you never know on the Internet!
I looked at Idiosy's profile and theres plenty of flames towards Thomas Brown including a confession stating that he is Thomas Brown. Toby Foster (aka Benry) only has one story that seems to attack Thomas Brown.
But what makes me think Toby had more to do with the Prayer Warriors is his punctuation. Have a look some of Toby's writing: "Never before, would I be, something as much, as a nonbelieber as such. Rhyme as I must, I'm not all that nuts, I`m Johnny of Patmos, so don't wear it out." Now look at some of Thomas Brown's early stuff: "And so we decided that we would get married in the weekend for it was Sunday and that was God`s day, and he will sorely blessed us."
Notice who both Toby and Thomas uses an ` instead of a ' were writing contractions. I know this is speculation but I do think Toby wrote parts of the Prayer Warrior.
Edited by TaylorAshmereThis might be risky claim, but I did some more digging on Toby and I think I have found some information that might be pretty interesting. I am not 100% sure on this but I think Toby might also have something to do with My Immortal. Although I dont have that much proof to back this up, Toby wrote some trollfics a few year ago and spammed them across the Bible forums on FF.net. In one of those trollfics is a character named Gareth Vandersleld. About that time, xxxmidnitegoffxxx (aka, Tara Gilesbie) posted her sequel to My Immortal which contained a character named Gareth Vandersleld.
This might be not be true, but its interesting anyway.
I managed to get in contact with Toby Foster and he has confessed that he was Thomas Brown.
Assuming he's not pulling our leg, I wonder if he's also Noah and Ebony too?
From the reply it looks as if my original theory is right, he only wrote the first fanfic and maybe the second one but I am not too sure yet. The person that is writing it at the moment looks as if he is a copycat, but Toby could be pulling our legs.
But why would anyone admitting to writing The Prayer Warriors? Its like putting a target on your back. If I had written something like this I wouldnt admit to writing it.
Anyone got any idea what the author was trying to say when he said "Ego vere fidelis in cuniculis"? Using my mediocre high-school Latin and Wiktionary, I get "I truly trustworthy/loyal/faithful in burrows." Whatever that means.
Interestingly, he put "cuniculis" in the correct (ablative) case, assuming that he actually means "within burrows" and that's not just a weird typo.
Hide / Show RepliesAlso, for more DNDTR, the author talks about "shotting himself with a .10 shotgun". Once again, I am baffled. Does he mean "10-gauge shotgun"? Those are pretty rare now, unless you're the Terminator. But if he means ".10" shotgun, that's a shotgun that fires ammunition 2.54 millimeters in diameter.
Essentially, his father either owns a rather specialized weapon (apparently, 10-gauge shotguns are mostly used for waterfowl hunting, and are even there obsolescent), or a shotgun the size of a pencil.
I think for the first example, he just strung random Latin words together and hoped it made a sentence. For the second, I think he meant 10-gauge, but didn't realize how rare they are. So I think that both examples are They Just Didn't Care.
I am wondering if Thomas Brown is even American. The whole thing seems like a parody of what non-American view us like. Although I remember there being a .10 shotgun in Fallout 3. I wonder if the author got that from there. But anyway, it proves that the author doesn't what they are talking about, leading us to one conclusion... Thomas Brown is a troll.
As for the Latin, he most likely put it through a translator or something, although his Danish stuff actually translated pretty well using Goggle Translate and it actually made sort of sense unlike the when his Latin is translated. But I don't know either language so I wouldn't be the best person ask about that stuff.
According to Google Translate, "Ego vere fidelis in cuniculis" translates as "I am indeed a believer in rabbits". Another translation is "I truly faithful in rabbits". Anyway you look at it, none of it makes sense. It most likely been done on purpose. Its hard to work out if "cuniculis" is misspelt or spelt like that on purpose.
Ah yeah, the Google translator...I forgot about that. He probably used that, especially seeing as how his profile looks like it's in Engrish.
As for Thomas (and his family, assuming he's not playing them too) not even being American, I wouldn't be surprised. I think I've seen a Britishism slip here and there (like Twilight Sparkle using the word "crisps" in the Prayer Ponies. Are there any American dialects that use "crisps" that I don't know about?). This may sound like I'm reaching, but I find his odd hatred of Scots kind of suspicious too. It would make sense if he's from the UK or western Europe, since Scotland is right there. But over here, it's just oddly specific xenophobia.
I know that Battle With The (W)itches is pretty an attack on the Brits. I wouldn't be surprised though if he's from England. It would explain why he is so anti-brit... although he seems to be anti-everything...
After thought, I'm pretty sure Thomas Brown is a troll... maybe a Danish guy bilingual in English and Danish, and applying Stylistic Suck to his English? As for Latin, he has an entire poem fic thing written in it, but I can't understand it – I'm no expert on regular Latin... and Rouge Angles of Satin just makes translating even more complex.
The shotgun thing probably came from thinking "gun caliber = period and 2 random numbers", or else it was also intentional.
Although the Danish can be translated pretty well into English without turning into Engrish, it doesn't automatically mean that he's Danish. I would say that he's more English. Even he is American, I still believe this is work of a troll... a brilliant troll at that. How many trolls will write 70 or so chapters on a crappy shitfic? My Immortal was 44 or so, and a most other trollfics are even shorter than this. Either this means the troll if dedicated or doesn't know when call it quit.
Thomas Brown is being serious, I dread to think what types of mental illness he has. Bi-Polar, Psycopath, or maybe even Aspergers.
Apparently, Thomas is his middle name. I was reading somewhere that his first name is actaully Finn. Pretty confusing since at one he mentions that his name is Thomas Finn Brown.
I'm pretty sure that this guy is a troll, too. A good one, but still a troll. NARUTO VEANGANCE REVELAITONS was 76,000 words, more than twice as long as anything I've ever written, and chances are good it was a troll as well. People put a hell of a lot of effort into these things...
Im wondering now if Thomas Brown is actaully being serious. A troll would have given up by now. None of his recent fanfics are getting that much of attention, and a troll would have moved on by now. All seems now as if Thomas is flogging a dead horse, troll or not.
I think he's just persistent. As Pulpo mentioned, look at how long Naruto Veangance Revelaitons was. The fact each Prayer Warrior fic seems to have "gimmicks" in each fic doesn't help anything.
(Of course, it's very possible that "Thomas" is more than one troll, too...)
Yeah, it feels pretty inconsistent... to many plot holes, and with Grover coming back to life... yeh, you cannot be too sure. I heard from someone that there was two Thomas Browns before the current once. I am not sure which troll wrote what, but the stuff we have now is a copycat of another troll, which explains why the fanfic gets worse as it goes along (aka, stops being funny and repetitive as hell). I would say the first two were written by someone else ,maybe up to the key plotline since that is when all form of plot disappears completely, and after that it is a completely different author. Maybe The Evil Gods II was co-written which explains the change in style. But anyway, that is a good point.
I think the "multiple trolls" thing is the most likely explanation here, especially with the constant Flanderization of the story (how many times has Grover died now?). I mean, it just seems dull cranking out hundreds of thousands of words of nigh-identical Christian troll fiction, especially when they're not getting much attention.
Maybe the fact the Thomas Brown refuses to stop writing the Prayer Warriors even though no one cares about it anymore is a sign that he really is being serious? If he was a troll, he would have moved on by now.
However, the "multiple authors" theory is right, then maybe the current author is desperate and is simply flogging a dead horse. This therefore makes him the worse troll ever since a good troll would actually come up with something original, such as the original author(s) of the Prayer Warriors.
Or we might be simply over thinking this all, and that the fanfic is not meant to be studying, more like being ignored.
- Straw Character: Everybody, including the heroes. In fact, this fic could be called, "The War on Straw: The Fanfic Series"
Straw Character is a character created to have their position defeated. It is obvious the heroes not qualify... but it is obvious a lot of characters qualify. But, without read the fanfic, it is impossible to put the true examples.
Hide / Show RepliesWell, since the "heroes" of this series are the boring invincible type, and none of us know for absolute certain that this is a Troll Fic (in which case, they'd exist to be "defeated" by the audience snarking at them), I'll give that they wouldn't really qualify as Straw Characters. The villains, however, definitely are. They only exist to be "wrong" and "satanic" and die in horrible ways at the hands of the heroes. In other words, they're all Strawman Politicals, although that trope doesn't exist anymore.
"A straw character is a caricature of a person holding an opposing viewpoint, a character the author has set up in order to ridicule a particular viewpoint."
Yeah, most of the villians have opposing viewpoint to the author, and for most of the time they have been create to be defeated or proven wrong. So yes, there are Straw Characters in these fanfics. If this is a trollfic, the heroes could be seen as Straw Characters as well, since the author has created them with the purpose of ridiculing them. Therefore every character in this fanfic are Straw Characters.
Edited by TaylorAshmereThe big problem though with this fanfic is that you cannot truly edit the fanfic's page unless you have actually read the fanfic (or at least read Arcadiarika's liveblog). One of the edits you made was the comment about Stalin. If you had read the fanfic you would have realized that Stalin appears as the main villian, therefore can be counted as a Complete Monster, since it's not simply a real-life example, its actaully relates to the fanfic.
The only mention to Stalin in the deleted Complete Monster entry is this bit:"who made Stalin look sympathetic in universe."
@Taylor Ashmere: The reason why Mag Bas deleted the examples is that there were a few things that actually disqualified them. The reason why the heroes were removed from Straw Character is that Strawmen are set up just to be defeated - keyword here is "defeated." While I also think this is a Troll Fic and that the Prayer Warriors are some kind of satire on the worst of Christianity, they're never actually defeated or proven wrong in-universe, so they don't count.
As for Complete Monster, it was deleted because Complete Monsters have to be intentional to qualify. The Prayer Warriors do lots of absolutely awful things, but because we can't prove 100% that Thomas made them to be absolutely awful, they don't count. And I just moved that example to Designated Hero.
Finally, the "No Real Life Examples" Mag Bas was talking about were the commentaries about the author qualifying as an example, not Stalin.
Just wondering, shouldn't Threat of Satanic Communism be Threat of Satanic Commonism. I know the first one is spelt correct, but since the author spelt it Commonism, shouldn't we spell like that?
Hide / Show RepliesI was wondering that myself. I think we went with the correct spelling so it'd be easier to read.
Yeah, but the spelling errors are what makes this fanfic so funny. Jell, Stan, Jesus of Narrative; this is what makes these fanfics so funny. Would've My Immortal been so funny without all the spelling errors; no I don't think so.
But seeing that the author spelt it Commonism, I think we should spell it that way as well since it is the title the author gave it, even if its a spelling error.
I was just reading Battle With the Witches and when he mentions that title to Threat of Satanic Commonism, he spells it THE PRAYER WARRIORS: THE THREAT OF COMMUNISM.
Sure, ain't no rule against it. I think the only rule of thumb is that if there's only one quote, just put it at the top of the page.
Yeah, there is a few good quotes from these fanfics that I want to add, such as the "we are going"/"we are not going out quote" and the "breast" quote. Unfortunately, this might make me sound like a noob, but I have no idea how to create new pages.
Yeah... I have a lot to answer.
If the username doesn't give it away, or if you've watched Sarah Z, I was the bored person who wrote this pile of shit. I was trying to be some edgelord, writing the most offensive shit imaginable. Re-reading TPW ten years after writing it is painful. The fanfic is filled so much padding (with Tom going on long rants) that it's near on impossible to read.
Well, I guess I should apologies, especially to Rika, Books, and Idiosy, who I dragged into this madness.
