Find a Trope:
openDramatic Dishwashing Scenes?
Do we have something for when an important conversation happens while two characters are washing dishes together?
openInteractive Credits Videogame
A trope that's somewhere between Creative Closing Credits and Mini-Game Credits, where the credits are shown in a unique way. Example:
- My Game: The game's credits are unique in that instead of being a boring wall of text, they're shown by having Sam go through the files on Mike's computer. Such as the cast being the names of each person paired with a picture of their character, while music credits are a series of .mp3 files bearing the songs' actual names.
opena couple of things
- A normal person who is in charge of a ton of badasses, without anyone ever questioning their authority.
- A person was part of an organization from day 1, but they spend so much time alone that even other longtime members don't know who they are or that they're even here. As in, going like "X did that" and the others are "who is X"
openCollecting Several Things in Hopes of Getting One Thing
In Yooka-Laylee, Capital B and Dr. Quack's Evil Plan involves getting a particular magic book. To get it, they build a machine that vacuums up every book in the surrounding area.
Is there a trope for this, where someone collects several objects, hoping that one of them will be the one they're looking for? The closest thing I can think of is Evil Only Has to Win Once, but I don't think that's it.
Edited by DrNoPumaopenIs there a trope for characters meeting a creator of some kind? Literature
I've been looking for a trope related to characters meeting the god or creator deity but I cant find it.
openSomeone famous in a brief role? Live Action TV
So I did see this page some months ago and can't find it now. Someone famous joins the cast of a series that would normally be too small/cheap for them, and it's more than a cameo, but still it's not for long. And it's not "special guest".
openJustified Ostracism
A character who's not actively bullied or shunned by society, but no one wants to have anything to do with him. When the main characters take pity and try to befriend him, it turns out there's a very good reason no one likes talking to him: whether inappropriate behavior, single-minded obsession over something, annoying physical habits, etc.
openTime travel should change things but doesn't? Live Action TV
Is there such a trope for this:
- In The Flash (2014) episode "The One with the Nineties", Cisco and Chester travel back to December 1998, but when they return to 2021, their Time Travel had no effect on the timeline, not even a Close-Enough Timeline, when it's been established in-universe that time travel does have serious consequences.
- Alice and Bob On the Run: Alice is now 38 and uses Time Travel to re-live Christmas 2002 which she enjoyed as a 19-year-old, but when she returns, travelling back has had no effect whatsoever on the timeline, even though technically, Only One Me Allowed Right Now should happen (and is established in canon), but in the end, nothing bad happens, no serious consequences.
Other than Casual Time Travel, is there a trope for these, and I'm not thinking Timey-Wimey Ball, but consequences?
openRescued, but not know the savior until later on
Is there a trope where the heroine is saved by someone when she was a kid, then they eventually meet each other a decade later, where she does not recognize the savior until later on?
Edited by sui_choopenTop heavy vs Bottom heavy
Is there a particular trope for having a busty woman paired with a bottom heavy woman a la Spink and Forcible in Coraline?
openReally animated
Is there a trope that brings up the issue of whether or not animated works are just a lens and the characters are seeing things in live-action as we are, or if they actually see the world around them as animated like we do when watching it?
openTwin Threesome Fantasy but for fraternal twins
Does the Twin Threesome Fantasy trope also apply to a character who fantasizes about having a threesome with a brother-sister pair of twins?
openAdaptational Badass but for items/objects
Does the Adaptational Badass trope apply to OBJECTS that are far more powerful/can do far more things than an earlier iteration?
openUnusual Capitalization
Is there a trope for when a title is capitalized in an unusual manner?
openComposer-Preferred Key Music
Do we have a trope for when a composer writes most of their songs in the same musical key? Does that sound tropeworthy?
openSomeone To Remember Him By but for objects
Someone to Remember Him By but instead of a child, the widow(er) becomes very protective of an item or a pet given to them by the person they loved who is now dead.
openBreast Expansion, or Adaptational Curves? Web Original
So in SMG 4, Meggy has a flat chest. However, when she went on vacation in Port Aurora, Meggy has her breasts upgraded. However, is it because the show has a totally different artstyle, or did the fog magically expanded her assets? Which is the right trope?
openDestroying Your Redeeming Qualities
Emperor Evulz has some redeemning qualities. As the story goes on, however, he slowly gets rid of those qualities and at the end, becomes a purely evil character.
openPsychokinesis is the most dangerous power
In a setting featuring characters with various superpowers, a character with psychokinesis powers is shown to be the most dangerous.
There's got to be a trope for a rookie.
