More of less agree. One of Wing' mechs kill a "unprepared" pilot right, the first time to read that my first thinking was: Someone read Getter Robo by a long, long time.
And hello Eva Unit 01. Hi.

Watch me destroying my countryYeah, it's been a while.
Anyway, might try and check out G-Savior later tonight.
If you watch it, I'll watch it and do a review. I was going to save it for a Bad Movie Night and show it to the crew, but I should probably check it first.

Nous restons ici.In that case, yeah, I'll definitely watch it.
@EVA: Trowa has MASSIVE Ho Yay with Quatre.
You gotta start somewhere.Haven't seen that much of it so far.
I still say that G-Savior isn't that bad, as long as you keep in mind that you're watching a low-budget licensed film, rather than a mainstream Hollywood production. Manage your expectations accordingly and it's pretty amusing. Go in expecting something like Pacific Rim or The Avengers and you're going to be disappointed.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.Honestly I'm prepared to cut the movie a hell of a lot of slack simply because it's a live-action giant robot film and that's a tough row to hoe.
Nous restons ici.G-Savior
Well, the first impression is of a good/decent OST.
....<looks at Mission Control set-pieces> holy shit, this movie is old.
...and/or spectacularly low-budget. At least the CGI is bearable.
Standard military douchebag is standard.
Rather than an outright state of open conflict (most Gundam shows) or the threat thereof being eminent (Turn A), this appears to be more in the "year or two prior to war" phase. Which could still be a point worth exploring, but yeah, just another difference from the usual Gundam fare.
Gawd, if that punk isn't a Titan (or their equivalent Spiritual Successor group), I'll eat my avvie.
...presently at the half-hour mark. It feels less like Gundam, than it does Star Trek trying to be Gundam and doing poorly at it.
They totally nailed the "can't trust the military, EVER" trope, though.
That said. On the rare occasion an MS actually comes on screen, G-Savior typically does a fine job of preserving that sense of epic you'd expect from a giant goddamn mecha.
Well, the G-Savior doesn't look too bad IMO. Past the half-way point now, by the way. First sortie doesn't reveal anything terribly interesting other than what looks like a beam shield on one arm, and its beam rifle seems rather underwhelming IMO... but its beam saber isn't too bad. Not as kickass as the ZZ's, but still.
Anyway, taking minor issue with Sides apparently referring to singular colonies instead of clusters of colonies like in the show, but that's a comparatively minor issue.
Passing the one-hour mark (that is, two-thirds through), it seems that the hero has a little two-timing habit.
Aaaaaaaand he's about to end up on the receiving end of Woman Scorned. I give 90% odds on that.
The existence of an automatic One-Hit Kill Sat defense system for dealing with space debris, though... I gotta admit, that sounds reasonable enough.
Some while later, G-Savior's starting to prove itself a bit better in its second sortie. The mecha action is unsurprisingly rather clumsy, but I take that as a given due to its nature as really-really-old-CG-in-live-actio— ooh, G-Savior can detach from its armor ah la Virtue? And it can do so very selectively, too, just to free up a specific limb, for example. I gotta admit, that's a pretty neat trick.
Ooh, and we even get a brief sequence of the G-Savior converting from space combat to colony-interior combat configurations, nice.
All in all, if you go into G-Savior expecting an epic contribution to the Universal Century, you'll be sorely disappointed. But if you go in expecting a licensed B-movie and just have fun with it, I'd say there's actually a good bit to be had.

Wing ep 10
Lady Une starts off the episode by reminding us all that she's a total bitch.
...wow, Duo, talk about an epic derailing...
Gawd, Une, how smug can ya get?
...gotta admit. For a self-destruct mechanism, that was kinda... underwhelming.
And Treize is not happy with Lady's bullshit.

Well, if we ever decide to team up and wage a war against the world in the name of ending all war, I guess we know who to pick for our tactical forecaster.
It gets worse. Apparently Wing's self-destruct was actually a .5 kiloton nuke. Gundams are that tough in Wing.
Nous restons ici....you're shitting me.
AC-verse Gundanium alloy is utterly ridiculous. It's not quite invincible, but it's one step below that.
In any other series, a beam shot would destroy a mobile suit in one hit, sometimes even from a glancing blow. In Wing, if you're a Gundam pilot, it bounces right off; if you're not, you apparently blow up just by being in the general vicinity. Kinda puts things in perspective.
but HOW?Half a kiloton honestly isn't that big an explosion. For example, Little Boy, the bomb dropped on Hiroshima, was about 15 kilotons. I mean, it's still ridiculous amounts of overkill for destroying one mobile suit, but... well, put it this way. The most powerful conventional explosive in the world (that we know of) is the Russian "Father of All Bombs", which reportedly has a yield of about 0.44 kilotons.
So yeah, I mean, it's a big explosion, but it's a wet firecracker by nuclear standards.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.Hand to god, that really is in the Japanese materials. As Native Jovian says, that's a really small nuke in absolute terms, but it should also be kept in mind that Wing's self-destruct left it in an extremely damaged but repairable state. Half a kiloton wasn't enough to definitively destroy it.

Nous restons ici.I prefer to think that the self-destruct mechanism was intended for a cornered Gundam as a Taking You with Me alternative to being destroyed or captured by enemy forces, because really, for something the size of a mobile suit to have a nuclear self-destruct option is ludicrously overkill.
I say I'd prefer to think that, because as Night mentioned, even 500 tons worth of boom from the inside wasn't enough to render Wing Gundam unsalvageable. Because Gundam Wing is incredibly silly.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien. It's just for plot reasons really. Same reason a Leo will explode if a shot grazes it, unless an MC is piloting.
At the end of EW they self destruct the Gundam's again and this time they're totally vaporized because the show was over.
Just how Wing is. I love it, but God is it not all that well written. Its as bad as Seed Destiny at times, but unlike Destiny, Wing managed to be entertaining despite that.
To you, perhaps.
To me, it's godawfully boring.
At the end of EW they just blow up. Their condition isn't really shown properly.

Relena still has issues with Une, understandably enough.
She's also got great taste in threads, thou-
DAY-UMN, RELENA, talk about Silk Hiding Steel! o.0
Wow, the Fez army is just full of bros.
Noin is just too damn cool.
Was just thinking about this—you know who could make an interesting protagonist for a future UC series or sidestory? A grown-up Puru/Ple clone who has gotten over the worst of her issues. Marida's already established precedent for one of them surviving, so having one who managed to shake off most of Glemmy's conditioning and either join the EF or retreat into civilian life (only to later fall into the cockpit) wouldn't be too much of a stretch.
I think there'd be a lot of potential in such a character, though between the franchise's recurring issues with women, and the ubiquity of the "all Cyber-Newtypes must die tragically" trope, I'm betting Sunrise will never do it.
Regarding the Circus Girl... I Heard in some Mangas is Implied she is Actually Trowa's Sister.
