9 apparently had a 1-female limit which is why Honey Woman became Hornet Man and Ocean Man became Splash Woman.

Ben Diskin, methinks.

Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?

I think Wily's actor is Jason Spisak, myself.

Although I think I'm more hoping that, given that he played Dr. White, Mighty No. 9's analogy to Dr. Light (even though I feel he might actually be an even closer analogy to Dr. Wily than the Red Herring).

That Wily's definitely Keith Silverstein. Compare the voice to Hisoka in the Hunter x Hunter dub.

Megaman sounds like Ben Diskin to me, and while I don't recognize Light he sounds familiar.

Keith Silverstein plays a guy whose second-most common strategy is to convince/force others to work for his cause, and the hero of which often has to uncorrupt them?

That sounds awfully familiar...

Well, I've made it through Beast.

  • Falzar really gets the short end of the stick. Even putting aside the fact that it ultimately loses to Gregar, the Gregar Army is the one with all the especially cool or powerful Navis like Japanman, Quickman, and Darkman while Falzar's stuck with doofs like Cutman and Cloudman. Gateman and Freezeman are the only Falzar Zoanoroids that get something of a high profile, and neither of them get to Beast Out even!
  • lol at them bringing back friggin' Whaleman, a background joke character from way back during the N1 Grand Prix, as a Zoanoroid.
  • I remember Diveman being pretty popular thanks to his endearing goofiness back when this was still airing and he remains so. I love how he basically pulls a Screw This, I'm Out of Here! when Colonel confronts Blackbeard and Yuika in the penultimate episode (he and Circusman used up their time in the real world playing cards with their operators).
  • It took another three years and a parallel universe, but the anime finally got around to adapting the Mythology Gag from Battle Network 3 of Tadashi using a computer program to speak from beyond the grave like Light does.
  • While this version of him doesn't seem to be evil, I got a laugh out of Regal being the one in charge of the experiment that messed up Beyondard.
  • Japanman has one of the coolest Beast Out forms what with the dual-wielded katanas and an interestingly animated transformation sequence with all the fire and the mouths opening up all over his armor. It's a shame that the form lasts only for all of five seconds before Megaman Beasts Out and uppercuts him into oblivion.
  • While the final sequence of R-Megaman obtaining that double Beast Out form and destroying the Super Cybeast without a single word isn't quite as cool as the Axess final battle it does feel very satisfying in its own way. The instrumental version of the opening theme does make a surprisingly good, uplifting battle BGM, and white being the predominant color of the Beast Out form instead of blue or green makes the form look very visually striking.

Man, Beast feels like such an odd, well, beast given the massive departure in setting and tone it takes halfway through. It's pretty much an In Name Only adaptation of Battle Network 6 moreso than the prior anime seasons but I will give it that it did try to shake up the typical formula and try something a little different even if the Trapped in Another World plot was rather derivative of Digimon. I would've liked to explore Beyondard a little more since I liked the party Lan had with him by the end, but as it stands I did appreciate the fact that the pace was quicker and the group pretty much always had a goal to work towards, even if it was just getting from Point A to Point B. I just don't want to know what the production side of things looked like given that by this point they were basically just rotating through only three different animation teams which seems very low to me for an ongoing weekly anime and a number of the Beyondard episodes had rather loose and rough artwork, and not always in a stylistic way. The coloring didn't seem too great either, too washed-out and muddy, though that might be partially down to the quality of the ripped RAW files. I'm sure the switch to short format for Beast + was one welcomed by the animators.

Speaking of Beast +, I guess I might as well move on to it next for completetion's sake. I know that the effort to subtitle it petered out after the first arc, but I'm fairly confident that I've absorbed enough Japanese in the last decade to be able to make out at least the gist of what's going on.

If those are indeed the names, wouldn't that make Blast Man the first Canon Immigrant from Battle Network and Torch Man the second character that shares a name with a DOS Robot Master?

Block Man and Acid Man are my immediate favorites, but they really should've kept the name "Brick Man" for the former.

EDIT: It's funny that there's only one female Robot Master, because if robots really were commonplace, I'm betting a whole lot of them would look like sexy ladies.

[up]There might be. Although honestly, watch it be a midquel (Like, set between X3 and X4 like Command Mission, or maybe even X2 and X3) so they don't have to deal with bridging the gap between X8 and Zero for the return of the X series.

I dunno. Do we really want Axl and maybe Lumine back?

[up][up] Command Mission had Axl EDIT: in the story as an established character, therefore it has to be after X7.

Your point, however, is worth considering: The gulf between X3 and X4 within the canon is quite immense.note

Interestingly, I find the X series to be "complete, but without connection". There is a Sequel Hook at the end of X8, true, but, were it not for the fact that Mega Man Zero is canonically set later in that timeline, nobody would be batting an eye at how "incomplete" that arc is. Personally, I find the Classic series to be the incomplete one: At least Sigma has a chance of being Killed Off for Real in X8; Dr. Wily? He just got away again in 10.

I think that a game that would connect X to Zero would be better handled as a Zero game. How does Mega Man Zero Zero sound?

After what happened in X8, I can't see Sigma coming back.

I'd like a game set just before, or during, the Elf Wars.

I think it's quite easy to imagine Lumine being the big problem of the next Mega Man X game, as it's implied he actually uploaded himself into Axl.

Just a quick note: Command Mission isn't canon.
