Troper Updates II, Part II

Heh, the word "spook" is (fortunately) a synonym for "secret agent" for me, so I had an I Thought It Meant moment there. :P

Also, I have a thing or two to say about Fortnite.

Back home. My aunt was very rude and insulted me last night. I really should have known something like this would have happened. She's been bullying her sisters and nieces and nephews her whole adult life. I was trying to do something nice for her by helping her not be lonely while her husband was away and what did I get back? Being told an idea I had was incredibly stupid, and implying in her voice that I was stupid. Over something that wouldn't even matter a week from now, let alone years down the line.

If ya'll need me, I'll be over in the depression thread trying to sort out how I feel.

I'm so sorry you had to put up with that. If it's any consolation, the problem is on her end; you've said she's mean to everyone, so the problem is obviously that she's mean. Still, that doesn't make it any easier to listen to.

I am now home from my weekend getaway.

Instead of making nice (enough) ink drawings like I did for Inktober last month, I'm going to dedicate this month to drawing practice. That means...This Is Gonna Suck! I'm going to draw things that I suck at drawing, read books and watch tutorials to improve, and make a bunch of crappy drawings, all with the end goal of not sucking as badly!

First challenge: Hand Lettering. I'll just jump right in there with the thing I'm the worst at; which I really, desperately want to get good at. Let the suck begin!

Looks like my worries about the post-Halloween atmosphere have been allayed; I just got a whole lot of cookies in the mail. :)

And coincidentally, in one of my classes, we're about to start a project that involves lettering. It's something that I've never tried before, so it looks like I'm gonna get better at it too!

Yes! Here are some examples.

I actually took an interest in it because I wanted to draw some Stardew Valley fanart, in the form of posters that would be hanging in Harvey's office. When I googled "How to add lettering to hand-drawn posters," I got the link that I shared, and realized that there were a ton of other cool things I could do with word art.

I'm currently trying to do some creative writing to distract myself. Just got notice that there's a tornado watch going on in my area, so I'm kind of worried even if its probably nothing. ^_^;

I decided to edit the Crucible footage I recorded while buzzed into a highlight video. And I used the 1812 Overture finale as the opening, splash screen and ending music. The concept is: a splash screen displays exaggerated praise, cue Gilligan Cut to the exact opposite ("BORN WITH A GOLDEN GUN!" - misses two shots and promptly gets gunned down). Also, I included some Mickey Mousing in the opening, so some things are cued to cannon shots in the music.

So I was helping my mom and older brother take down the Halloween decorations in our front yard, and things went along smoothly. At one point I was bored and was pacing around when I saw a furry tarantula on the ground, I jump for a moment, but then I remembered that we had spider decorations, and comment out loud: "For a moment I thought that was a real spider." My mom was confused and went to where I was pointing at. Turns out it was a real tarantula. Cue the three of us freaking out. Me, being the arachnophobe I am, ran into the house and watched, my mom and brother try to figure out what to do, through the front door. My mom calls my dad at his work in a panic,and he tries to insist that one of us puts it in a bucket and take it across the street, yeah none of us was eager to do it. So my brother grabs a shovel and some bug spray, and sprays it, stabs it with a shovel, and tosses it into the street, and that was the end of it. Thankfully we got most of the cleaning done and went back into the house. The whole time my dad is just listening to us freak out, and afterwards says:"I'm suprised none of you got hurt,and I don't mean from the spider."

Yeah, it was an interesting day.

Since a week ago, I have had a really obnoxious tinea cruris in the valleys between my legs and my testicles. Today I asked my mom to buy some anti-fungal cream. And since she doesn't know English, she ended up buying a vaginal anti-infection cream.

Man, my life is so full of misfortune. I assume that applying this cream onto me is a very bad idea, right?

What's really cool is we got to play in front of not only another DJ, but a member of Parliament-Funkadelic.

It's only a bit past 9 in the morning and already my day isn't off to that good of a start. :(

Decided to have a lurk at the forums after years, amazed it still looks kinda the same. I wonder if anyone I knew from back then still visits...

@My Final Edits: Well, according to this website, miconazole (the medicine found in vaginal anti-fungal creams) is actually effective against all sorts of fungal infections, not just the ones found in women's vaginas. You should be fine using the cream your mom got you if it has miconazole.

Is it weird/creepy to take inspiration from issues in someone else's personal life for a story you're writing? The gist of it is that I noticed graffiti in front of my workplace with a coworker's first name in it, and though it's a pretty common first name, I know just enough about said coworker to suspect it's the work of an obsessed ex who is no longer allowed in the store. I wouldn't use the exact situation or anything, just the general idea of a character finding creepy graffiti personally addressed to them.

I think if it's just the general idea, it should be fine.

The kid, who had been resisting going because she wants a cat and doesn't want to play with all these cats who don't get to come home with her, has finally come around. She wants some kitty time. :D

Bonus: We're going to walk around the neighborhood before we go. Kid needs exercise. So do I.

Tonight I got asked for my number on behalf of a young woman who works at the Mcdonald's next to where I work, and I got a request for a price quote and timeline for a freelance project with a fairly popular producer of online video content.
