Alright, confess odd things.

For example, I'm jealous to my big brother becuase he discovered The Smiths first. Dammit, now I can't have a crush for Morrisey without feeling weird about it.

Adric De Psycho, my favorite punk band is Bad Religion. I've seen them in concert 8 times. I don't even like concerts. But they're so good live. And they're so good recorded. I don't remember who said Bad Religion can "sing an essay," but they were 100% right.

Rise Against is another favorite, and part of that is because they can hang with Denver's altitude.

Did you know that many musicians need to take oxygen when they're performing in Denver? (Personally experienced: Bad Religion, Depeche Mode, Smashing Pumpkins needed a few O2 breaks, and I think Tool needed some oxygen, too) Rise Against does not. They recorded one of their albums in Ft. Collins, CO, and can belt it the hell out, even at altitude. So cool!!

I really need to get into more punk, yeesh. I keep meaning to check out Bad Religion but I've been going through an exploration of early 80's post-punk lately. Might be a good way to segue this into an odd confession by saying that I've never fully understood the appeal of the Sex Pistols and I feel that John Lydon's best work was in Public Image Ltd instead of with the Pistols. I listened to Metal Box yesterday and it's a downright creepy but entertaining record.

Verdammt, every time I need to catch up on my anime DVDs, I get sidetracked by something else.

I have a fascination for genderswapped characters simply because of the different implications therein - although I usually keep it comical, like having Harry Potter in particular be a girl in Surrey, which has enough difference to it when you know what Surrey can be like.

I tend to forget that the word "charismatic" is supposed to have positive implications, because I've heard it used to describe villains so many times.

No "Bowser's Fury" questions please. I haven't played it yet.

I watched this guy get a concussion during yesterday's Broncos game and am still feeling the Squick. I had nightmares about it. (Nothing different happened during the nightmare, I just saw the play and the aftermath)

I've seen enough head injuries during my EMS career to become Properly Paranoid about them.

Just because you can't form an emotional connection to music, doesn't mean the same applies to other people. Likewise, most people do have opinions on things like that.

But most songs of that sort hold the opinion of exactly one person: the performer. Unless you hold the exact same opinion, then the song is utterly meaningless

[up]Not entirely. Sometimes it's the opinion of the songwriter who the performer is acting as a mouthpiece for. "The Show Must Go On" by Queen, for instance, is Freddie Mercury singing about Brian May's Creator Breakdown related to Freddie's impending death.

And sometimes, songs are deliberately vague about their opinions so you can project your own view into the lyrics. It may not sound better, but it is something else.

I remember how after my dog died I was listening to some music to take my mind off things and I started listening to this track called Kathy's song by Simon & Garfunkel ,I couldn't finish the song, the lyrcis alone reduced me to a crying mess

I still don't know if I can listen to the song again and not become a blubbery mess.

People adore The Show Must Go On because they can empathize with Brian May. They can think about how Freddy Mercury was dying as he performed the song and it makes them emotional, because his death from AIDS is heartbreaking.

Again, we're empathizing with the musicians.

I have lost my tolerance for spicy food. Ten years ago, I could eat a certain restaurant's spicy breakfast burrito, feel a bit of pain, and enjoy it. The restaurant has not changed their recipe in those ten years. Today, I am eating the same thing, and I am DYING. It hurts. I am having legit 5/10 pain that is impairing my ability to concentrate.

(On the plus side, it is more painful than my currently 3/10 neck pain, and is masking it! It's like a break!)

I don't know whether this is a hormone thing (it started after I had my daughter and recovered from her birth and the postpartum weirdness) or an age thing (it started about 9-10 years ago). Either way, ouch.

To me, Nintendo handheld consoles might as well be called "Poke-Boy" because Pokémon is the only Nintendo game I ever play.

Yes, that means I don't play Mario, Zelda, etc either.

I used to think Creeping In My Soul, the theme for BIONICLE's Barraki line, was done by Evanescence. Nope, turns out it's by Cryoshell, the band that did all the themes from then until the Glatorian line. On a related note, I think I'm gonna listen to more Cryoshell music, the stuff they did for Bionicle is good.

I can enjoy most forms of music and literature fairly easily, but TV and films I've always been a very harsh critic about. This applies even more if I'm familiar with the source material, hence why Game of Thrones I can't enjoy, but the books I can.
