Subpages cleanup: Complete Monster

Go To

During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.

Specific issues include:

  • Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
  • A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
  • Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
  • Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
  • Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.

It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.

Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:

     Previous Post
Complete Monster Cleanup Thread

Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.

IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.

When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "[tup] to everyone I missed").

No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.

We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.

What is the Work

Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.

Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?

This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.

Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?

Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.

Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?

Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard

Final Verdict?

Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Okay wow, it's been a while, but I finally have this writeup:

Ultraman Ginga S: Alien Chibu Exceller is a depraved little alien and the source of the conflict in the sequel to Ultraman Ginga. He leads an invasion force to Earth, wrecking an entire city, to get his tentacles on the Victorium Element and resurrect his "Grand Master" Dark Lugiel. To this end, he razes a city with an army of giant robots and monsters. However, Exceller has loyalty to no one but himself, coldly throwing his own surbodinates aside when they are no longer of use. He commands his own sentient loyal right-hand woman, Android Zero-One, to self-destruct inside the enemy base because it'd be too inconvenient to teleport her back. He allows Vorst, his other loyal servant, to be killed by the Japanese military, AFTER taking over Vorst's mind and using him like a puppet to attack the main protagonists. As Five King, Exceller took great pleasure in beating and torturing Ultraman Ginga and Victory, pummeling them so badly that they turned to stone and the two giants nearly died for good. After having the benevolent kaiju Shepardon murdered, Exceller gains enough Victorium to resurrect Dark Lugiel as Vict Lugiel. However he did not revive his master's mind; Exceller betrays him as well, using his mechanized body as a puppet before Lugiel comes back on his own. Exceller shows no remorse for any of this, gloating that his many betrayed servants were simply pawns to be used and discard as he saw fit.

Yes to Jack.

  • Agent Aika: Rudolf Hagen created the Delmo for one purpose: to serve as his own personal harem after the apocalypse. An egomaniac who views himself as the pinnacle of perfection, Hagen abducts and brainwashes women he deems worthy to join the Delmo. Researching the volatile material called the Lagu, Hagen intends to use it to cause a chain reaction on earth to exterminate all life, allowing him to repopulate the world with the Delmo, creating a new race with his 'superior genes.' Not even Hagen's own sister and lover Nina is safe as Hagen happily attempts to sacrifice her when he judges her usefulness to him is done.

  • Cobra: the movie: Cobra's arch-nemesis Crystal Bowie of the Space Pirate Guild is a massive being made of crystal who desires the power of the world of Myrus. Brainwashing one of the three princesses of Myrus, Catherine, into loving him, Crystal Bowie has her murder her own sister Jane and later hunts down the third sister Dominique, killing her comrades before killing her as well. Using Catherine to unlock Myrus, Crystal Bowie reveals he plans to use its powers to blow up the entire Seventh Galaxy, killing all there as a warning to never defy the Pirate Guild to the rest of the galaxy.

  • Carnage Park: Wyat Moss is a deranged survivalist who runs the 'Carnage Park' where he waylays travelers and passers-by, imprisoning them in the stretch of land he owns while he hunts them at his leisure. When the hostage of a pair of robbers, Vivian, is taken there by accident, Wyatt kills the surviving robber and places Vivian in the park, killing a survivor in front of her while she sees the results of his sadistic hunts and massacres, nobody before Vivian having ever survived Wyatt's hunts. When Wyatt's own brother, the local sheriff, decides he's had enough and is killed by Vivian by accident, Wyatt's only response is hysterical laughter before he resumes trying to murder his quarry, sadistically ranting at her and laughing all the while.

  • Waar: Ramal is a ruthless terrorist and killer turned agent for India's secret service RAW aiming to foment chaos in Pakistan. Upon being captured by agent Mujtaba Rivzi, Ramal murdered his wife and child. Ramal infiltrates northern Pakistan and and begins carrying out murders and assassinations for RAW, notably killing Ejaz Khan, a popular Pakistan politician, by fatally stabbing him, then letting him crawl to his lover in bed whose throat Ramal has slashed. Organizing more attacks, Ramal's true plan is to bomb the Jinnah Convention Center in Islamabad with a lethal gas, which will kill the hundreds gathered there, any civilians nearby, and completely destabilize Pakistan and enable Taliban terrorists to continue to terrorize the country, all to ensure that Ramal will always have a job in the ensuing chaos. Having no true loyalty or illusions about what he does, Ramal even takes the time to brag to his nemesis Mujtaba that he'll triumph because "evil always wins!"

  • Yamato
    • the monstrous Emperor Zordar of Gatlantis, ruler of the White Comet Empire, is a despot who lives to conquer and destroy all he finds. Sacking the Andromeda galaxy, killing countless innocents until the survivors submit, Zordar has them placed in labor camps as slaves before intending to move on to the Milky Way. Arriving at the Milky Way at the season's end, Zordar wipes out earth's defensive fleet and proceeds to offer the earthlings a chance to submit to him as slaves or face annihilation. Upon the Yamato fighting back, Zordar abandons his subordinates to die and begins bombarding earth, deciding to simply take it for himself after wiping out all humanity.
    • Prime Minister Bemlaze of the Bolar Federation has enslaved the people of the first season's villain Abelt Dessler, the Gamilas people, in cruel tyranny after Dessler's Heel–Face Turn. When the prisoners try to resist, Bemlaze orders them massacred and later has the entire planet blown up out of spite just to kill the rebellious prisoners. Pursuing the Yamato to destroy it, Bemlaze arrives when the battleship is attempting to stabilize the sun to save earth, intending on destroying earth and Yamato by dooming the former to cooking from the heat of the sun out of sheer spite.

  • Illium and Olympos: The advanced human who has taken the identity of Zeus overthrew his parents by banishing them to a hellish dimension of infinite pain. Taking over Mars with the other 'Gods,' Zeus keeps them in line via brutality and threats, deciding to recreate the Trojan War on an alternate world, subjecting countless innocents to death and destruction for fun. When he feels the game is insufficiently entertaining, Zeus simply drops a powerful bomb on the city of Troy to kill thousands. When Hera attempts to stop Zeus, he simply murders her himself and decides to simply exterminate all humanity and start over with creations of his own before moving on to other dimensions and timelines until he is the only god and all that exists submits to him or dies, even banishing his own son Achilles to the same dimension as his parents when he defies his mad father.

Oh, right, and:

  • Thor: Ragnarok: Thor's monstrous elder sister Hela, Goddess of death, sealed away by Odin when her bloodlust and cruelty grew too great, helped Odin conquer the empire of Asgard until he finally sought peace. After murdering his guards, Hela was finally subdued and sealed but massacred the Valkyries until only one remained when they sought to prevent her escape. Upon returning to Asgard, Hela slaughters all its soldiers when they resist her and tries to claim the sword of Heimdall to open the gate to the other Realms. When Heimdall saves the population of Asgard, Hela attempts to have her undead soldiers slaughter all of Asgard's people while forcing Thor to watch them die, even killing her own right-hand man, Skurge when he takes a stand to defend Asgard's civilians. Monstrous, sadistic and insatiable, Hela seeks to open the gate to all other Realms so she can conquer everything and continue her work of drowning them in blood and tears.

Allright here's my rewrite of Dark Danny as I have seen this epsiode a few times and I want to depothole and tweak it :

  • original :Dark Danny note , the Big Bad of this Made-for-TV Movie, was once the otherwise-noble Danny Phantom in his timeline. He was born of a fusion between the ghost halves of Danny and his Arch-Enemy, Vlad Masters. The first thing Dark Danny does upon his conception is brutally murder his human half, before embarking on a campaign of random destruction for his own amusement. In the future, Dark Danny has conquered the world and turned it into an apocalyptic wasteland in the process. Realizing that other parties have been meddling in the time stream, Dark Danny decides to personally ensure his rebirth by making sure the catalyst that caused his transformation comes to pass. Since he was created following the deaths of everyone he loved, Dark Danny attempts to murder his parents, his sister, and his two best friends. Dark Danny stood out as being the darkest and most chilling villain in the series, even turning series Big Bad Vlad Masters into The Atoner for his role in Dark Danny's creation.

Added to drafts.

[down]I'm not totally rewriting it as it looks good but it's cluttered with potholes and chain potholes. So I want to tone down the number of potholes only.

EDIT: Honestly, I think Azog was probably THE most divisive. That went on for pages and pages; I just stayed out of it. I probably would've done the same for Hela, except I actually saw the movie.

Alright folks, it's November 24th, so let's talk about Inhumans. Oh god, here we go, the first undeniable and utter flop of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I'm gonna save you an extended effort post and make this as short as possible: Nobody counts. Not even close. The Big Bad Maximus is a Designated Villain for 95% of the series, and his henchmen are also mostly sympathetic, especially Mordis, who gets talked up as the worst monster ever by both (supposed) heroes and villains alike, but is arguably the most relatable character of the show instead. In fact, the 'heroes', the Inhuman Royal Family, are such downright horrible people (especially Karnak and Crystal) that it would be very hard for a villain to even come close to qualify in a second season (ha.....HAHAHA!). If anything, showrunner Scott Buck would be a good candidate instead (kidding, JUST kidding, but you get the general idea).

And now Let Us Never Speak of This Again
