Wick Check Project

Maybe, but that only has 91 wicks, so I'm not sure it'd demand collaborative effort. It'd be a very easy project in any case, so I wouldn't mind tackling it; just be aware we'd probably finish in about an hour.

I was personally thinking something much bigger, like Moral Event Horizon, Hilarity Ensues, or Draco in Leather Pants / Ron the Death Eater.

If you want something massive, I'd probably go after Hilarity Ensues, as I never got the point or actual definition of it, so it's probably the most comfortable for me to tackle. It's just under 10000 wicks.

That said, if this thread also becomes a place where people can get feedback on smaller wick-checks or something, I'd be cool with that. Like, if anyone wants to do the Phone Booth wick check here and get feedback, that'd still fit the intent of the thread I feel.

Maybe. I typically wouldn't pothole single lines to tropes if said tropes involve a recurring character trait, but I dunno. I think I typically added it to the Murky folder.

I may soon move my butt and start doing a Sandbox.Phone Booth Wick Check, likely only for myself as it only involves 50 wicks.

Alright, ~MacronNotes, I cleaned up the sandbox and alphabetized it ^note don't worry, I didn't spend an hour of my life painstakingly moving things around, I put it into an online tool and it seems to have done the trick for the most part. If anything is wrong let me know. so now you can replace what's on the TRS thread with this update.

Planning on a 50-wick check of The Jester mostly on a whim (to see if most examples use it as "jesters exist"). I can do it on my own but I'm mentioning it to see if anyone else wants to join me. Maybe we can split it 25/25 or smthn.

Edit: In that case I'll try and do about 16 wicks, more if I need to afterward, but 16 is a good start. 50/3 is about 16 wicks per person anyway.

• Magical Clown: Potholed under "jesters"
• Oddly Small Organization: "The members at this time include The Jester, a Pirate that takes over an aquarium, and a not-so Treacherous Mentor" No context on this example, but it seems likely the character is a literal jester or calls themselves one. Going to the The character page, the only reference to a jester is a character that...looks like a jester. So yeah, this is misuse.
• Anime.Wild Knights Gulkeeva: "Dancer dresses and acts like one, which helps to show off his Laughably Evil behavior." Jesters exist
• Characters.Kirby Heroes And Supporting Characters: "When he puts on the Master Crown, he turns into a jester-like creature with all sorts of powers." Jesters exist
• Characters.One Piece Wano: "He is a taikomochi, a male geisha and the medieval Japanese equivalent of a jester." Jesters exist
• Characters.The Devils Carnival: "Funny to the Magician, less for John." Meaningless ZCE, also a trope slash example with Monster Clown, so misuse as well.
• Expy.Literature: Shows up as a pothole in a New Jedi Order example, which describes the character as being demoted to a literal court jester. Jesters exist, misuse.
• Film.Dance Of The Dead: "Jimmy has this attitude at the start of the film." ZCE, but at least it seems to know this is about an attitude/personality and not literal jesters? I hope?

• TheEeyore.Literature: " Dolorous Edd from A Song of Ice and Fire certainly presents himself this way, but he's either a Deadpan Snarker with this as a shtick and a massive lean towards Black Comedy" Low-context pothole, but seems like a valid use of the trope.
• VideoGame.Choice Of Games: "Prenzie, the protagonist's oldest friend and a possible love interest." Literally a meaningless and useless ZCE. I can't even get an implication of usage here.
• VideoGame.Conquests Of The Longbow: "Fulk, to King Richard" ZCE, probably Jesters Exist

...Well, bit of a mixed batch here, but most of them are "Jesters Exist" which is troubling.
