Identity: The Mindless Minions of Dr. Madd (androids)

Abilities:

  • Robot Bodies: Being machines, the Minions are stronger and more resistant than humans (though not by much) They are not alive, but are vulnerable to electricity and magnetism.
  • Limited Intelligence: Their AI only allows them to literally and blindly follow orders.
  • Skills: can be programmed for combat, repairs and other such much basic tasks.
  • Equipment: varies, but usually guns or blasters.

Appearance: They resemble mannequins wearing full body dark brown spandex suits (with a huge "M" in a lighter shade of brown on the chest)

Personality: None. they are not sentient, though they can speak preprogrammed phrases. They are programmed to follow Madd's verbal commands.

Background: Years ago, the criminal scientist Dr. Madd got tired of his human minions' failings. So he decided to replace them with androids.

He was satisfied with the results. Though only slightly better against heroes, at least they did not offer excuses. And they were expendable.

However, Madd was eventually arrested. His stuff, including the androids, was confiscated. But you know villains. They always have more resources stashed away...

Note: the Minions are NPC villains. Feel free to smash them if you want. Just watch out, they tend to attack in numbers...

  • Identity: Francis Kessler, Minion, Ninjin, Secret
  • Abilities:
    • Way of the Samurai: Kessler purchased a pair of katanas off of an online auction. He can wield both of them at the same time really well because he runs the sword fighting club at his local community center.
    • Athleticism: A few years ago, Kessler made a New Years resolution. He'd only watch anime if he was working out while doing it. He watched a lot of anime. He is thus in very, very good shape. He has excellent stamina, and is very agile. He can do very fast cartwheels and somersaults. He's also very physically strong.
    • God: Kessler is very very conceited. He considers himself unstoppable. This makes him extremely strong willed: If he gives up, he'd have to admit he's not as great as he thinks he is. Among other things, this makes him able to ignore pain from wounds that would leave others unable to stand. It also makes him resistant to mind-affecting powers. Anyone who attempts to directly interfere with Kessler's brain will just not be able to find it. It's like there's nothing there.
    • Moped: Kessler is the owner of a yellow moped. He's had it since he was 16 and can drive it really well.
    • Battle Gear: Kessler's costume consists of a biker helmet, a red jacket, and several strategically placed metal plates, and a tactical vest. The helmet is the most well-armored part of his body for obvious reasons, and can even take a bullet. It has a basic filter integrated into it, protecting him from most irritants but not noxious vapors. His jacket and most of his jeans have special pockets in them that he can insert metal armor plates into. These plates can also stop bullets, though obviously they don't protect his entire body. The tactical vest goes over his torso. It will stop most bullets, though anything at point blank range is gonna go through it. The bullets still hurt and can crack his ribs.
    • Horo: Kessler's waifu. She has been on many adventures and is very wise.
    • Smoke Bombs: Smoke bombs Kessler learned to make from You Tube tutorials. They emit large amounts of black smoke. This smoke is hard to see in, stings your eyes, makes your lungs itch and burn something fierce, and is generally very unpleasant.
    • 9MM Pistol: A basic pistol. He does not have a license for it and usually doesn't even keep it loaded, though he does carry ammo. He's an okay marksman, and can hit a moving target reliably from like 30 feet away and a standing one from 50 feet away.
    • Stun Gun: A regular stun gun. Electrocutes stuff it hits.
    • Mace: A can of mace. Getting hit with it is painful enough that most people puke.
  • Appearance: Kessler is tall, at 6'2. He seems to have a slender frame, but he's actually got a decent amount of muscle on him. He's built like a swimmer. In terms of clothes, he is rarely seen without his awesome red jacket. He wears a lot of anime paraphernalia.
  • Personality: At first blush, Kessler seems like your everyday, normal guy. A little bit arrogant, maybe, but he's friendly and when he's not on the job he's good natured. He refuses to harm innocent civilians, though he has no qualms fighting those who oppose him. He is squeamish about killing, though he'll do it if he feels like he has to. He likes anime, but he won't talk your ear off about it if you're not interested. When you get to know him, though, it becomes clear he has one major problem: He believe he's invincible. That he is destined for true greatness. Luckily, he's a magnanimous god and is willing to share in his destiny.
  • Background: Kessler is just a regular dude who happens to like anime a lot. When he learned about the whole superhero thing, he decided he wanted to get in on the fun. He wants to become a powerful super villain one day, but for now he'll settle for working for one. So he put up an ad on craigslist. For 50 dollars he'll be your bodyguard/mercenary/minion. He also makes money on the side by selling marijuana out of his house.
    • Here is a complete list of services he has ads for on craigslist:
      • Male Escort: Kessler will allow you to buy him dinner. He promises to wear a nice suit, be a gentleman, and give you one (1) kiss on the cheek. It is not an offer of prostitution.
      • Regular Escort: Kessler will bring his katanas and follow you around. He will protect you from any assailant and also rough up anyone you ask him to. He will kill people but only on a case-by-case basis and reserves the right to like, not kill babies or puppies or stuff like that.
      • Spongebob: Kessler will dress up as Sponge Bob for your child's birthday party.
      • Elsa: Kessler will dress up as Elsa from Frozen for your child's birthday party. He can sing "Let It Go," "Bohemian Rhapsody," and "Happy Birthday."

Might as well add him in. Say hello to New!Rine.

Rine Anok

  • Identity: Sergeant Rine Anok, Anti-Hero, semi-secret identity. (Uses the name Ryan Andrews in public)
  • Abilities:
    • Hardlight Generation: Due to his Kaydenite biology, Rine has six hollow organs inside his abdominal region. By focusing his body's electrical potential to these organs, Rine can generate a malleable plasma-like substance and direct it to different areas of his body, or even expel it outwards in the form of plasma shots or constructs. The plasma shots can be either highly dense and fast, inflicting massive damage, or blindingly bright and low mass, usually used for slow-moving distractions with effects similar to flares or flashbangs. Other constructs include swords of varying designs, usually scimitars, and half-bubble shields that are generated from the forearms.
    • Hardlight Copy Technique: An ability created by the warmonger Rok'n, later picked up by Rine and adapted for his own use. By expelling colossal amounts of Hardlight from multiple directions and forming it into humanoid shapes, Rine can create up to 25 copies of his likeness, which have limited Hardlight reserves and extremely low durability. They have a limited independent intelligence despite being directly connected to Rine's mind and thus can both follow orders from him and adapt themselves to situational changes. A telltale sign of a Hardlight copy is its constant crackle of white plasma and smoke around it, tending to jump between other copies and connecting back to the user. Upon destruction, a Hardlight copy will dissipate into sparks like other constructs. This technique was extremely taxing even for its inventor Rok'n, who was somehow born with eight organs, twice that of the average. As a result, Rine only uses this ability in desperate situations, and at the 25th copy's destruction he will black out from memory overload and the Hardlight burnout effect. Rine has been privately working on refining this technique in his off time, usually resulting in fried wallpaper and minor explosions.
  • Weakness: Again, the differing biology can be a downfall as well as an advantage. Continuous construct generation will eventually "burn out" his organs, causing them to become temporarily inflamed and unusable for a short time, usually five to fifteen minutes depending on how much he has strained himself. His small size and hollow bones also makes him more lightweight, and while this is useful for athletics and quick movement, it makes him easier to toss around and break.
  • Skills:
    • Parkour: Rine has been trained on his home planet's military academy for the best movement possible for a Kaydenite. While he lacks in physical strength compared to that of a human, his light weight allows him to be able to perform flips and kick off walls with ease, allowing him to increase momentum for battle.
    • Swordfighting: Rine has his own style of swordfighting, suited for his quick movement and high impact. It is focused around shredding at weak spots or generally overwhelming his opponents with lightning fast, barely predictable swings. However, his stance is imperfect; it negates the option to block quickly.
  • Equipment:
    • Rift Ripper: A small, wristwatch-like device that allows limited cross-dimensional travel via the opening of temporary portals. The portals can also be used for travel between locations across a single dimension, but these must require coordinates.
    • Amulet of Loe: An amulet with unknown properties. Rine always wears it, as it is a gift from his friend, Kyxe Seng. The name is in reference to the Aentolian deity of Hardlight, Loe. Kyxe herself owns one, and the pendants both heat and glow according to the status of the other.
    • Aentolian Loetukin: A large, pure white instrument made of a lightweight material. It appears to be a wind instrument, similar to a bassoon or clarinet, albeit larger and curves around to rest on the shoulder. By blowing into the mouthpiece and applying Hardlight into different holes and pipes in the instrument, Rine can create a grating, moaning, and yet strangely beautiful string of notes, that sounds like a mixture between a distorted theremin and a clarinet. Rine appears to be very protective of this instrument, claiming it 'fragile' and that the slightest fracture could ruin the sound.
    • PCSS (Prototype Channelling Short-Sword): A short sword designed by the House of Tehk as part of a line of test weaponry to infuse Hardlight into. Unlike the PCC (Prototype Channelling Claymore) and the PCS (Prototype Channelling Sceptre) designed for the House of Seng and the House of Tume, respectively, the PCSS is designed to be extremely lightweight for agile use. However, Rine is still in-training with this weapon, and thus only uses it if he's run out of options or is burned out.
  • Appearance: If he is in public, he usually wears grey/blue contacts to hide his eyes. Prefers to wear hooded overshirts over a white tee and jeans. Looks to be a young adult, but is actually in his mid-200s.
  • Personality: Usually acts joking and light-hearted, with an air of blunt cynicism and dry humour. This is, however, a thinly veiled façade, as his true alien personality is not considered polite by human standards. His actual personality is very quiet and his tone can come across as condescending even if he is just pointing out the facts. He rarely smiles in reality, unless he's in battle or believes he has the upper hand. He also rarely blinks, even under his act, and has a habit of twitching his head like a bird when speaking or addressed.
  • Background: Rine was born to the House of Anok on the tidal-locked planet Kayden, and his family, as a result of the constant feud between the Dark Side and Light Side, had a very militaristic outlook, which could be the source of his cold personality. Unlike most Kaydenites, he was born with an abnormal number of Hardlight organs, six instead of the average four, which allowed him to form more constructs of more stable quality. He befriended the daughter of the House of Seng, Kyxe, who suffered from a disability that rendered one of her organs useless. After several decades training alongside his friend, he was sent on an off-planet mission to investigate his universe's Earth, which was the home of several superpowered individuals. Upon arrival, he took the identity of Ryan Andrews, and began to pose as one of the empowered people, eventually joining the specialized governmental project, the Facility for Enhanced Individuals. However, on one of the missions assigned by the FEI, he received access to a cross-dimensional device inside an abandoned tech facility, which catapulted him to Easton. Now, he is desperately trying to work out how to get back, how to fit in, or how to figure out this strange new dimension.

*pant, pant* Blimey that took a while.

Hope you don't mind me applying again

  • Identity: Li [Living Idea], Status: Known Hero with anti-hero shades.
  • Abilities:
    • Robotic Body: She has a hardy and dexterous body as designed by Dr. Nao, which she has customized to remove 'fail-safes' that the good doctor designed such as hacking back doors and kill-switches, adding redundancies and enhancements as well as quality of life improvements like an enhanced voicebox. Overall this means she has the standard robot deal, no need to eat, sleep or have other bodily functions, she’s sturdier than even the toughest regular human, faster, smarter and stronger too. She is susceptible to electricity and emps, but less so than expected thanks to redundant systems within her and EMP shielding in her more important parts.
    • Machine God Style: Li's accumulated experience results in a graceful yet incredibly efficient mastery of an eclectic self made fighting style, based mostly in high mobility and fast powerful leg strikes, with a few enhanced hand strikes;
      • Blue Palm/Age of Blue: A palm strike is enhanced by a pulse generator within the arm, increasing the offensive power and reach of the strike via a localized shockwave. If used with the Asura System it affects a larger area around Li.
      • Fist of 'Nothing'/Wave of 'Nothing': In lieu of chi(because robot) Li uses her pulse emitters in conjunction with her body to create a shaped burst of pressurized air, vacuum wave style, the Asura system gives this more reach and range.
    • Soul-over-Sword Weapons System: Li's body contains a set of hidden integrated blades on the limbs for close quarters combat, a pair of hidden collapsible batons hidden in her legs and hidden projectile needles and blades on the upper body to aid in mid to close range combat. The integrated blades can be enhanced in their cutting capabilities via high frequency vibrations.
    • Inner Eye System: An array of sensors that gives Li constant and accurate awareness of her surroundings. It also has access to the internet and can relay other forms of communication.
    • Asura Arm Replication System: Originally meant for the replacement of limbs it allows Li to add up to 3 extra arms on either shoulder or elbow joint level, sacrificing dexterity for offensive and defensive potential.
    • Mechanic and Robotics Specialist: She keeps herself and the Palanquin running, having the internet at ones behest and a skilled body to use that knowledge helps too.
    • Permanence of Self: In interests of self preservation Li has a number of backups all over the place to continue living in case her main body is destroyed. Even if the backups are compromised and she finds herself cut off from her usual storage she can 'toss' herself into a computer system, though this might affect her personality if she survives.
    • The Palanquin: A refurbished prototype of a Chinese spider-tank, this 6 legged beauty serves as the main transport method and domicile for Li. Aside as being as hardy as a tank it also features a grenade launcher and a set of heavy machine guns for defense. In terms of facilities it houses a rudimentary AI with its own computer, a workshop with replacement parts for her body, a charging station with an internal battery, and general living quarters. On the outside it looks like a large bulky ochre colour trailer home on 6 long dexterous legs. It moves at a fairly quick pace for it's size and has amphibious capabilities.
  • Appearance: An elegant, dangerous robot
  • Personality: As a legacy to her programming she's posh, elegant and polite. She's also chattier as of late, since she acquired sentience. As such she enjoys banter and waxing poetic both on and off the battlefield. She’s also began to actually enjoy a good battle instead of it being a mechanical process. She has a great pride to her own uniqueness and worth, even if she's still trying to find out what or who she is. She has a great interest in travelling and learning for both pleasure and self improvement. Seems to have no compunctions in killing if its necessary but would rather avoid it, she's still coping with her many deaths. On that note, she has a couple of insecurities about her own origins, being a henchbot and all, its a delicate subject. She doesn't like heroes, she tolerates them at best for now, but she hates villains and actively hunts them down if possible, better yet if they have a price. She's otherwise fine with doing odd jobs for more... clean people so to speak, work is work, and she still needs fuel and supplies.
  • Background: Li started her life as Wuxia-Bot 35601, as a batch of henchbots made by the brilliant Dr. Nao for the crime lord Daniel “Crimson Tiger” Zhang. She she fought, served and was destroyed for him many years until the incident happened. Due to a glitch in the back-up process she got access to her previous lives, and all her previous deaths, this made something in her snap... and click at the same time. She absconded with one of the Wuxia Bot bodies, running away. Luckily for her, being only a mook nobody caught wind of this immediately and even then they did it didn't seem to be a big deal. She began being a thorn in people's sides when she started working for the good guys(she sends out resumes and puts listings online) and hunting criminals.

Back. I'm gonna be sticking back a few of my old characters here.

THE GOOD
  • Identity: Axel Bates, Hero, Android and Assistant to Dr. Bates, Not secret
  • Powers & Abilities:
  • Description: As long as he lives! Cobalt Blue overcoat with Gold trim, a bright yellow scarf, grey pants, a blue hat, blue boots, chalk white synthetic skin, black hair, green eyes/optics.
  • Personality: Upbeat and friendly, Axel is a considerate individual who only wishes to help, he is however pretty hot blooded for a android and tends to get caught up in the heat of a moment. Finally Axel abhors killing, even as a last resort.
  • Background:
  • Axel was built by Dr. Charles Bates to showcase the future possibilities in the world of robotics, and to be a assistant in his lab, to assist the good Doctor in his crippled state. Axel came to care for Dr. Bates and began to learn more about the world around him, until he learned of the truth around Easton city. Heroes and Villains dueling, innocent lives in danger, and Axel was standing by.
  • Axel set about fixing this and challenged Dr. Bates about how he had the power to make machines to save lives, Bates noted that no matter what, the dynamic of heroes and villains would never end and he feared for what would happen if he used his knowledge to build weapons, even if they were meant for peace. Axel countered that even with the cycle, it meant that someone must stand and fight, and that he'll give everything he can; there are heroes still left in man!
  • Charles could not respond and agreed, no matter how much it pained him, Axel had decided to fight. The good Doctor set about upgrading his creation, his son, and gave him power beyond any device he had built before. Armor systems, advanced targeting computers, and weapons only Axel could use. Axel awoke, no longer as a assistant, but now as a machine, a man, ready to fight to save people.

  • Identity: Doctor Charles Bates, Hero Support, Roboticist
  • Powers & Abilities:
    • Genius Level intellect - A capable roboticist and engineer, Charles built Axel with his own two hands and continues to manufacture new machines to help humanity.
    • Average Physiology - A standard human, albeit one who tends to smoke
    • Handicap - Crippled severely, Charles is only still using his lower half thanks to modern medicine, but can't move very far without some form of assistance, such as a cane.
  • Description: Caucasian Skin, Bald Head, 5'8" in height, tends to wear a blue turtleneck and a white lab coat with black pants, green eyes, square jaw.
  • Personality: A noted cynic, Charles views the cycle of heroes and villains as inevitable and unending, despite this he takes a more realist approach to helping the world, building machines to help people. Charles may be blunt and unfriendly but only as a initial impression, get past that and he'll be... warmer. Tends to worry about Axel a bit, fearing for his safety or the possibility he may one day become a killing machine.
  • Background:
    • Charles career began with him seeing how often people put themselves into dangerous situations, only to lose their life tragically. Motivated to end this cycle, he set to work studying robotics.
    • Upon completion, he begun work with a partner, Virgil Sage and set about making machines to replace humans in various dangerous locations. The two then set about making humanoid designs to replicate the benefits of the bipedal form. This did not end well, as the two split up after being the closest of friends.
    • Was crippled in a accident constructing a new generation of robots, was inspired by the end and succeeded.
    • Eventually Charles built Axel, as a new associate, companion, and son. Now Axel fights and Charles dreads every moment he does.

  • Identity: Amon Chernov, CAS-0004 "The Pharaoh Man", Public, Heroic
  • Powers & Abilities:
    • Android Body - Superior strength and durability to fleshy humans
    • Replicated - While Amon is a Bates Style Android. He is not based on the original specs of Axel and is thus not as powerful, but he makes up for it thanks to the modificiations for his design.
    • Speed - A necessity for escaping and avoiding deathtraps
    • EMP/Electrical Weakness - Being mechanical in body, Amon suffers temporary issues with electrical attacks
    • Advanced Optics - Great nightvision and ability to spot small targets
    • Fireball Launcher - Also known as a "Sun Gun", it will create fireballs in Amon's hands which can be charged up for a attack, or alternatively if he switches the hands to gun mode, a straightforward but accurate blaster
  • Description: The Chalk White skin of all androids, armor is gold in colour, with blackened "bandages", Red eyes as a signal of being a Chernov Android. Design is to help ward off curses.
  • Personality: Very straightforward in tone, no nonsense when on the job, but friendly and affable off the job, when facing off against villains or even various mythological beasts, can be a bit sarcastic and even a bit mean. Amon though would rather prefer to study the history of a location rather than fight.
  • Background: Based on the Bates Android design from leaked blueprints, Amon was built by Dr. Ivan Chernov to study ancient ruins, with enough protection to fight off against any traps or curses that lie within. Amon however has also taken to the hero business in Easton on his down time, actually meeting up with Axel and becoming a good friend and ally.

THE BAD

SAGE ROBOTICS

  • Identity: Dr. Virgil Sage, Villain, Robotics Scientist & Engineer, Public Identity
  • Powers & Abilities:
    • Genius Level Intellect - A Genius on the level of Dr. Charles Bates, capable of building advanced robotics and machinery by himself, give him enough time and he'll have a army of robots all loyal to his word.
    • Average Human Build - For all his intellect, he's as durable and squishy as any other regular human. Thus leaving him to rely on his machines to do his work, get him exposed and he'll crumple quickly under the threat of violence
  • Description: Average human size, tends to wear nice white suits and coats, caucasian, slicked black hair and a angular jaw, green eyes and a almost perpetual grin on his face.
  • Personality: A upbeat individual whose constant grin hides a venier of envy. Virgil enjoys power, give him a little bit of control over the lives of people and he'll be satisfied for a little bit. Of course that's not enough for Virgil, as he always wants more, a state or a country at the very least he'll settle for. Despite this, he's a very approachable figure and believes in being on good terms with old friends, even if your kids are technically fighting.
  • Background:
    • Virgil was there with Charles when he started to build. The two were comrades in arms, building advanced robotics together and often pointing out the flaws in each other's plans. Virgil was... satisfied with this at the start. He had what he needed, and he was learning many things. A smart man learns from his mistakes and isn't afraid to take a leap.
    • However, Virgil noticed something that Charles was ignoring. The Machines they were building were stronger and more durable than a human being, but would serve orders without questions, "If you change the working parts, you get a different machine" was Virgil's motto. He and Charles could build armies and easily change things, he was a bit... offended when Charles denied that idea citing the 3 laws and how Robots were meant to be advanced tools to help in situations.
    • It was at this point Virgil realized how different he and Charles were, a argument broke out and the two split ways. Charles was later crippled in a accident and Virgil sent a get well card, though noting they're still enemies.
    • Virgil now works on his own robotic army, smiling and swinging all the way as he works diligently to construct his own "utopia" and is far from playing dirty.

  • Identity: Phoenix Sage AKA SSA-0003, Villain, Unknown identity
  • Powers & Abilities:
    • Superior Android Reflexes, Strength and Speed
    • Weapon Core Tech - Kunai launcher: Allows Phoenix to spawn Kunai knives in hand and toss them with notable accuracy.
    • Programmed Martial Arts and Stealth Skills. Programming allows him direct command over his father's mass produced forces.
    • Lower durability for speed than most androids
    • Can be afflicted by electrical and EMP attacks.
  • Description: Orange Eyes, Dark blue almost black jacket with hood and limb guards, silver hair, black pants and "boots"
  • Personality: Quiet and unemotive, Phoenix is dedicated to serving his father, while not incapable of questioning orders, Phoenix simply prefers not to. He tends to keep to the shadows a lot and prefers to observe.
  • Background: Phoenix was developed as the 3rd in Virgil's android line after Virgil got a hold of the blueprints used to make Axel. Phoenix was put into activation before his other siblings, despite his AI runtimes being younger as the others needed more adjustments. Phoenix currently serves as a spy and enforcer for his father.

Deck

  • Identity: Ace, Adrian Cecil, Criminal, Secret
  • Powers & Abilities:
    • Strong Build - Works out on average for a person of his size to keep a steady shape and be ready to move
    • Criminal Mastermind - A genius planner and on the ground strategist, Ace works best on his feet making sure everything goes to plan
    • Marksmanship Skills - While nowhere near a sniper, Ace boasts good aim with a gun which he puts to good use when in a gunfight should anything go wrong
    • Sleight of Hand - Quick on the draw and quick with his fingers
    • Average Human - Above all, still a unaugmented human being, bullets will kill him and he can't last in a straight up fight against the superhumans that exist in Easton
  • Description:Icy Blue Eyes, slick black hair, fair skin tone, 5'11" in height, tends to wear slick black suits custom tailored for crime with black gloves for hiding fingerprints,
  • Personality: Ace on the job is very sedate, he doesn't speak much other than directing commands, and he tends to be very cold to whatever hostages may so happen to be stuck with him on a louder heist, but he's not a monster. Ace prefers professionalism more than anything and would rather things go smoothly, shouting at people doesn't fix anything. Off the job he maintains a affable but still distant air with the people around him, it mostly being a act to fit into normal society and not be spotted.
  • Background:
    • Ace grew up with a relatively quiet life, plenty of opportunities ahead of him, but none ever came. Slowly things continued to spiral downwards until finally it crashed. With nothing left, Ace started turned to whatever could make him money, eventually pulling his first heist.
    • As it turned out, Ace was good at stealing cash, real good. He got through whatever heist was pulled often being the only one to get out alive or out of jail, this did create some problems for him. He needed a consistent crew that would last through any heist they pulled, and so he started looking.
    • Eventually he pulled together a crew and they worked hard, eventually expanding outwards into a full on crime syndicate known as Deck with Ace being the leader of the Spade House, the Ace of Spades. Now Ace and Deck is in Easton, ready for whatever may come their way. Everyone needs a Payday.

THE UGLY

  • Identity: R.I.C.K Robotic Individual Calibrated for Killing, Neutral, Public
  • Powers & Abilities:
    • Robot Body - As a robotic soldier built for war, Rick's body is superior to that of a human being's, being harder, better, faster, and stronger. With better aim than people and gyroscopic stabilizers to reduce recoil kickbakc.
    • Internal Gadgets - Rick has few internal tools, such as a flashlight stored in his left arm, a screwdriver set in his right, geiger counter, internal pressure sensor and even a heartbeat sensor meant to help it keep track of it's allies. These are all based on working with his allies and keeping them alive.
    • AI Suite - While simple by today's standards, Rick's AI suite was advanced enough to allow for advanced problem solving so long as it hinged on improving the outcome of the mission or improving the morale of it's allies.
    • EMP Weakness - Any attack that can disrupt Rick's systems will knock him out, he will require a manual reset then.
    • Iron and Steel Body - Despite being a hardy robot soldier, Rick is still a machine and has his limits. His armored body is made of Iron, Steel, with certain platings made of Chobham to increase his survival. Though in Easton, tank armor doesn't mean much. His body is actually relatively simple in construction compared to modern robotics.
    • Field Repairs: The positive side to his simple construction is that he's easily repairable with the right know-how. Which was a must in terms of logistics.
    • Weapon Preference: Despite better weapons being out, Rick tends to use only weapons that were found during his years active, with a strong preference for the XM 16 E 1 and the Colt 1911.
  • Description: Robot Soldier, prefers a Green Uniform and his "Built to Fight" helmet.
  • Personality: Loyal and dedicated, Rick does not have a personality per say but rather programming bugs that have given the soldiers around him the idea that he does have certain "tics" of personality. Rick is a warbot and was not meant to be sapient, though certain tics include a strange preference for weaponry, a twitch of it's left hand when playing cards and bluffing, and a refusal to wear anything not deemed a proper uniform.
  • Background:
    • Originally designed during the 1950s by the US for the Korean War, RICK was part of a limited run of robot soldiers meant to fight. Sadly their design wouldn't be finished and functional until the Vietnam War was already underway during 1963 thanks to the technologies that needed to be perfected.
    • RICK would then go on to serve with 4 other RICK units in Black Operations and a few full scale attacks during this time. Being upgraded and repaired numerous times risking it's existence for it's allies.
    • When the war ended, there was only one RICK unit left, it was stored away and hasn't been opened since. Many preferring not to considering how shameful the entire Vietnam war was.
    • RICK has recently been busted out of storage, but by who? No-one currently knows. Though everyone is worried about the possibility of the robot going rogue.

Okay there we go. Got some characters in here now.

Amethyst

Arashi Adams, hero(-in-training)

Powers
Arashi is a crystal bearer, with an organic crystalline structure growing through his body. This symbiotic organism, fully integrated with all his cells, cannibalizes energy from nearly any source it can. The energy has to be placid and passive, neither stored and stagnant or active and attacking. Mostly, "background radiation", solar, magnetic, heat & light, magic, etc. Kinetic energy is right out for him and his iteration of the crystal.

At his own baseline, he's peak human but can gather more and more energy to achieve higher levels of physical capability. It takes time to gather this energy, minutes of shouting his head off, glowing like a strobe light and clenching like he's got a hemorrhoid. The longer he spends gathering that energy, the greater the strain on himself and, at some point, there is a point of diminishing returns. After that, the energy just starts burning off and it's use it or lose it.

The crystalline symbiote, in Amethyst's case, forms specialized organs in his body, mostly around his primary chakras. Each one grant him a particular ability and damaging that organ will damage that ability. Most of them have outward protrusions down his front, something to do with maximum exposure being an upside despite making them so punchable. It also lends to Arashi's striking appearance:

  • Root Chakra - Regen (Slow, Hidden): A fist sized organ, hidden inside his body, near the base of his spine, this crystal organ is the seed from which the others grew. It regulates the slow but steady reconstitution of any damage to itself or its host body. It even rebuilds anything stronger than before, mostly be weeding out weaker crystal cells and selectively breeding those that show promise. It also acts as a housing for his consciousness in case of severe mental damage.
  • Sacral Chakra - Movement (Flash Stepping / Floating / Clumsy Flight): Marble sized protrusion poking out just barely from his belly button, this organ wraps him in a kinetic field of sorts. It can either let him stand on air, due to some sort of energy platform that naturally forms parallel to the ground, or do that pseudo-teleportation thing with super speed that's more brutishly flinging himself at an intended destination. There's a crude middle setting that allows him to fly, more akin to rocketing in one direction .
  • Solar Chakra - Physical: A baby fist sized protrusion, channeling energy through this organ allows Amethyst to break the peak human+ magnitude and enter some where around the mid-tier of super strength.
  • Heart Chakra - Lasers: With a fist sized protrusion, Amethyst fires purple beams, part heat and part kinetic in their destructive prowess. He's capable of favoring one over the other and, strangely, the less heat he uses the more the beam look and behave like fire.
  • Throat Chakra - Shields: With a baby fist protrusion, Amethyst projects solid force fields, naturally forming into bubble shapes or skin tight suits around himself or others. He's working on shaping them, creating holes or hemispheres, and layering as well.
  • Brow Chakra - Sensory: With a marble sized protrusion, he can sense energy. It's connected to the kind of energies he can absorb and he can become familiar with some people's "signature". He's normally pretty aware of everything in his immediate vicinity and can "squint" pretty hard to see off in further distances in one direction or "listen" hard to try to hear off in every direction.
  • Crown Chakra - Telepathy (Starts as mind protection, possible hints of evolving further): With a marble sized protrusion, mostly covered by his hair, the crystal jealously guards his mind against intrusion, using counter offense as its best defense. It mostly uses his baseline energy but can be powered up as well. It's possible he may learn to extend outwards into true telepathy, but currently lacks even a hint that that might ever be a possibility.
  • It might be notable that Amethyst is rather inexperienced, making a series of small mistakes that can add up in any given confrontation.

Appearance
Arashi is half-Caucasian Japanese boy of, I swear, about 16-years-old, a bit on the short side. He does have certain looks of youth about him, but also he's jacked like a late 20 year old bodybuilder so... Not one of those shit brickhouse ones though, but more partway between that and a swimmer/dancer's build. He has the previously mentioned purple crystal protrusions, plus faceted gems growing out the back of his hand, top of his feet, front thighs and shoulder. Crystalline growth in his follicles caused his hair to become spikey, hiding his crown chakra.

Amethyst's super outfits can be described as stripperific. He has two of them, a cowboy and a biker. Emerald veto'd assless chaps with nothing much underneath, so he's content with jeans under the purple trimmed black leather, a brown leather open vest with purple trim, purple bandana mask and a purple trimmed stetson that can't actually stay on his head. The other one is a far-too-tight-for-a-sixteen-year-old-boy leather onesie with purple dragons, east and west, faintly embroidered on and a matching full-head helmet, black with a purple stripe. The onesie is prone to being zipped down for whole helluva lotta chest.

Personality

A mean-temper aided by a sense of justice. Also, jokes. Oh so many jokes, and every single type of humor. Even when he's angry, he's making jokes. Puns are his favorite, innuendos are a close-second, non-sequiturs are welcome party crashers. Dry wit and sarcasm come into play when it's time to slide in the knife.

Most people assume he's gay, albeit a very Hard Gay. He doesn't know what gave people this idea, he's just likes showing off his chest a lot, and sometimes (half-the-time) wears a jumpsuit leaving little to the imagination, especially when he starts zipping down the front because seriously guys have you seen my abs they're amazing look at 'em. He's a vain macho bird.

Truthfully, he has little libido or sexual inclination to speak of. The idea of sex is funny to him. He does have romantic inclinations, and they're all aimed at women. This doesn't stop him from flirting with anyone he thinks finds him attractive, because he really likes innuendos and reminding himself that he's, indeed, attractive. When interviewed, he's answered questions about his sexuality with "I'm fabulous." before, because it amused him at the time to do so.

Clarification: He's an asexual (mostly) heteromantic. Also, he's sixteen, so he hasn't actually explored or discovered himself yet. He also talks with a strange hybrid mix of a Cockney accent and a Osakan one. Sometimes, it's mistaken for Australian.

It should be noted how rash he is though. For goodness sake, at the urging of his secret mentor, he ran away from home to the States to become a hobo super hero. He has not yet put much second thought into this decision.

History

He's a rebellious military brat. His father a travelling AmericanBritish soldier, his mother a Japanese housewife. He normally jumped between the StatesEngland and Japan. He was a problem child, getting into fights, standing up to bullies wherever he saw them. He was in the middle of one particularly large fight when, somewhere off the coast of the Philippines, The Violet Heroine fell in battle. Her violet crystal found and implanted itself in his body not more than an hour later.

Soon after, he was picked up by Emerald, who sensed his newborn crystal and took it upon herself to train him, and the other successors to the dead crystal-bearers. He was her most successful student, being quite willing to fight for justice for justice's sake. She sent him on his way to Easton City in the States, where growing super activity was becoming rampant. He has since lived in an abandoned subway station and declared himself the King Of Hobos.

After every attempt at me going back to TV Tropes has ended in me being bedridden within days, I thought I'd never come back, having played enough D&D for (mostly dice-related) superstitions to become a dominant force in my life. But after seeing that I wouldn't have to catch up on 4 plot threads again, who was I to say no? I've reworked Fracture to remove some of the edge I was anxious about in the first place (but found my rewriting skills no match for the power of laziness in the end, so feel free to throw criticisms until I actually fix him), and have generally tried to get this guy closer to someone you can actually enjoy playing with/against.

Being in a country that's around 12 timezones away from normal and was in the third world before it was cool, me logging in just now probably leaked my credentials to around 40 different people, so please tell me if any suspicious activity (apart from the account actually activating) happens to come across your way.

Identity: Fracture.

Alignment: Villain, which he disputes, claiming to subscribe to "unenlightened altruism".

Secret Identities: Alexander Lux, Rehab.

Powers & Abilities:

  • Psyche Seed: Can 'nudge' a person in a direction using mental interference, causing the formation of an idea or emotion. It is impossible to get them to do what they normally wouldn't at first, but the more this power is used, the more malleable the victim becomes, until they are the psychological equivalent of putty (this is, however, bad for any task that needs actual knowledge). The person's mind isn't suppressed; it's effectively overwritten, piece by piece, over the course of many uses. However, it is likely that one can extract the original personality; in fact, a hero known as Rehab is working on the cure for that right now!
  • Neural Bypass: Can alter perceptions of up to fifty targets. This number is raised by the targets having lower willpower and Fracture being in a nice, quiet place. It's lowered by targets with abnormally high willpower, hallucinations that need more detail than a simple vision, and a distracting atmosphere. Anybody who's actively being protected from mental effects (including simple effects such as nervousness) is immune to this ability.
  • Emotional Overload: Fracture's body constantly produces and reabsorbs clumps of neural tissue that can communicate with him without needing to be directly connected to his nervous system. If Fracture's bare palm is placed on any bare skin on a host, his nervous system can rapidly grow through his hand and their flesh (rather painfully), rendering his limb useless for around an hour, but allowing a several minute long procedure to implant a mass. Once a mass is inserted, Fracture may open a mental link to the host, allowing him to either use the host as a proxy sensor, or attempt to ransack their mind for memories. If the target has a shield blocking psychic activity, the clump cannot send or receive information without direct physical contact. This ability works far worse the further away he gets, and the clump may be removed safely, although it would likely give a small shock to both members of the relationship, as if something inside them had popped all of a sudden.
    • Man-nequin: Fracture's nervous tissue has proved useful in multiple experiments, especially that of "elevating" his thralls. By implanting nervous tissue within individuals claimed by his powers, Fracture may use them as 'catalysts' (or, more accurately, 'officers') to enhance his hierarchy of control. Of course, with autonomy comes the potential for hostile psionics to subvert his organisation, but nobody would do that, would they?
  • Psionic Whiplash: Attempts at psychic warfare against Fracture are possible, but ill-advised; all links created with his mind are made two-way, giving him a pathway down which to use Emotional Overload (although his focus is significantly disrupted by the attack, so he can do few significant things). Thanks to numerous assassination attempts on Fracture, this passive ability is active at all times.
  • For Science!: Alexander Lux was a scientist first and a CEO second; although he's no god of knowledge, he can certainly make a decent impression on a whiteboard. Of course, designing something gives you an edge at operating it, but only talent or practice will actually make you good at it.

Weaknesses:

  • Human Frailty: He is weak, even by civilian standards; his constitution is that of a scientist, not a warrior.
  • Short-Circuit: His abilities are powerful, and he can use the lesser ones with ease, but actively maintaining hallucinations and infiltrating someone's mind for extended periods are very taxing procedures that he'd rather not repeat too often; overtaxing his nervous system can cause headaches, mild at first, but they slowly escalate to migraines, then paralysis, then aneurysms, as his nerves demand more and more until the body can't provide. Of course, his powers don't include immunity to self-improvement; his time overseas has led him to eventually figure out how to delay the effects for up to one week. Not the best results given the year he's been working on it, but he's optimistic, at least!

Description: Fracture generally wears a mask and a robe to compensate for my past self's desire for edge, whereas Rehab prefers a more sane-looking suit and tie to compensate for my past self's desire to not be edgy.

Personality: Fracture is inwardly completely sick of people, since people are the causes of most of his worries. That said, he is nothing if not professional; his own opinions take a backseat to more pragmatic concerns, such as not getting shot by 40 government agents the next morning.

Background: Alexander Lux was a rather wealthy businessman and scientist. Founder of Omnitech Industries, he desired only to push forwards the limits of science.

Unfortunately, charitable science doesn't pay the bills, so he had to accept a hush-hush contract involving bioweaponry and largely lethal mutagens. After heroes got wind of this, they immediately broke in... Through the wrong wall. Bursting open the hazardous containers, they flooded the entire laboratory with lethal mutagenic substances, accidentally killing most of the scientists present.

The government pulled the plausible deniability card, and could only be persuaded to allow continuation of Omnitech's operations using many a healthy bribe. Convinced that they needed a scapegoat, the government still deigned to press charges against Alexander himself, who was forced to step down and submit to several long months of trials. He appeared to commit suicide shortly before month 7.

Of course, the word "appeared' is there for a reason; Alexander resurfaced several months later as the newbie hero Rehab, there to turn criminals towards a better direction, step by step! As if miraculously, all criminals he had sessions with slowly became more and more obedient, and he became trusted with patients in prisons, asylums, what have you.

Three years later, Alexander donned a new guise: Fracture. Clad in a crimson cloak and a white mask, he showed up in the middle of battles, on the sides of heroes and villains alike, his white-robed acolytes charging to help his chosen side with a fervor unmatched by most humans, although his bumbling may have accidentally made him endearing instead of terrifying (which he admits, has its merits, although the bunny suit idea is right out after last time).

Since he's taken up the mantle of Fracture, Lux has been conducting operations on a more global theater, but has recently returned to Easton for reasons unknown that in no way involve an account blinking back to activity. Besides, rainforests are named such for a reason. Have you seen drycleaning costs in Venezuela? Rehab, meanwhile, has recently graduated to also helping superheroes (and villains, although none have come as of yet to his sessions) to cope with the many horrors they've faced, and what to do with the increasing costume bills as more and more of their expensive suits are being disappeared by "that damnable card-throwing lunatic", who Rehab really hopes to get into his office one day.

"I'm thinking of renaming this place once I've taken over. How about 'Ground Zero'? Oh, wait, that's taken. How about 'Ground One'?"

Well slap me with a cucumber and call me pickled if that isn't an overloaded character and a half. I'll see if I can clean this up over time, although given my track record it'd be a miracle if I survive long enough to even use Fracture before I use my immune system again.

As if there weren't enough baddies around, here comes a whole organised team of villainous types. Introducing...

The Shadow Players

  • The Hat Catcher
  • Real Name: Seamus Winchester
  • Abilities
    • Skills: The Catcher is a terrific actor, helped in no small part by his changeable attitude. While he usually defaults to a clearly sinister and untrustworthy appearance, he can easily adjust his voice and body language in the interests of pulling off a ploy. He is also possesses some skill in sleight of hand, useful either for pulling off schemes or merely for showing off and impressing his victims.
    • Powers: Much of the Hat Catcher's power and influence comes from his headgear, but there is one power that is innate to him, albeit greatly magnified by the darkness of the hat. With a gesture of his hand, the Catcher can spread a layer of pitch blackness over an object, and then mould it into a construct of his own design, at least until he removes the shadow layer again. With the hat's strength added to his own, he can mould not only water and clay, but much more solid objects wrought from metal, stone or wood. The object inside invariably gets broken and mangled, of course, but some sacrifices must be made if you feel like having a giant raven instead of a writing desk.
    • Equipment: The Hat Catcher could use any number of tools, but there is one he uses more than any other, his signature tattered black top hat never leaves his side. Woven out of physical darkness, it serves as a portal into the Plane of Shadow itself, and shows the wearer all the delicious little secrets of the darkness that lies in all things. It's surprisingly durable and flexible, and can be reshaped and contained if ever you feel like hiding one hat inside another. When taken in hand and swept through the air, it can briefly become as big as a sack, perfect for swallowing up victims that are then transported to the Shadow Plane. There, they will become warped, twisted, filled with all sorts of traits considered monstrous and unattractive, before being spat back out as wrinkled, bloated, malnourish, and/or all around ghoulish creatures to serve the Catcher's bidding. (Think of various mixtures of the zombie variants in Left 4 Dead and the wendigos in Until Dawn, but often dressed in old-timey kids' clothing just to be that bit more of a sicko.) Of course, that's only for humans, and any other species that fears the dark and associates bad things with it. Who knows? For any creature that loves the dark and fears the light, it could transform them into something beautiful. In any case, the transformation is bound to the darkness on the other side of the hat. Sever the connection or destroy the hat, and the victims will revert to normal and barely remember a thing.
  • Appearance: A tall thin man, with a mess of stringy dark brown hair poking out from under his hat, and a pointed chin, under something approaching a scraggly beard. He dresses in a slightly shabby outfit that calls to mind the Child Catcher, all in black with a waistcoat and tails, plus a large and battered black top hat with folds that halfway resemble a face. His face is always cast in shade, even when his hat isn't on, but his eyes, bright white with black irises, always seem to show up even in the blackest of darkness.
  • Personality: Typically, the Hat Catcher tends towards an eerie, capricious persona, speaking in a transatlantic accent, stalking through the darkness with an unnerving grin, and delighting in making people feel frightened or uncomfortable. However, his attitude is both malleable and hair-trigger sensitive, and he often switches between different moods almost on the fly, going from stern concentration to mischievous glee to frothing rage in the span of seconds. Almost as if different people, or at least different ‘'things'', were stepping in to take the place of one another unseen. But if there's anything these different personas have in common, it's the love of all things dark, the tendency to view people as pawns, and the pleasure of corrupting what is innocent and bright.
  • Background: One might have thought nothing unassuming about the humble Bostonite called Seamus as much as half a year ago. He was a simple man, with a wife and child, working as a waiter in a local restaurant. Then one day, he stumbled upon an unassuming black hat and took a liking to it. He tried it on for a while, put it back, thought nothing of it, then later tried it on again. Soon it became a regular habit, putting on the hat for a little bit. Soon, he took it home without even realising, and soon after that, he was carrying it around everywhere he went. Eventually, he even found a way to smuggle it under a wig when he went to work, but its presence wouldn't go unnoticed. His friends, family and colleagues were noticing a change in his behaviour, as he grew more leering, more threatening, more dark in every respect. After a brief faze of scaring the customers, he began losing interest in all aspects of his day-to-day life, often wandering off for long periods of time. Every time his wife or boss tried to confront him about such things, they would be ignored at best, threatened at worse, and in one or two instances, yanked to the ground by chains that weren't there before. Then one night, Seamus left his place of work, and was never met with again. That's when the stories started, of children disappearing, of ghoulish beasts stalking the night, and of the sinister man in black with his growing entourage of shadowy acquaintances.

  • Bureau-Crat:
  • Real Name: Martin Denton
  • Abilities
    • Skills: Martin has always possessed a calculating demeanour, and now serves first and foremost as the strategist of the group, cycling through three different stratagems at a time to determine the best possible path to success. He also possesses some knowledge of the machinations of government work, as per his previous line of employment. He also speaks fluent Russian, a gift from his late mother, and is kind of an airplane geek, a gift from his father's work.
    • Powers: When reaching for a flat, solid surface, the Bureau-Crat can create a pitch black handle from thin air in his hand, and pull it to open a drawer or door that wasn't there before. A useful thing for storing objects for future use, or springing ambushes from unexpected angles. Of course, the storage is directly within the Shadow Plane, so one must always be wary of contamination, especially on living things being contained.
    • Equipment: The drawers Bureau has could hold any number of things, but for now, he keeps a drawer full of folders on potential threats, another for potential assets, another filled with payment in various formats, another for changes of outfits, and another for various lock-picking and safe-cracking tools. Then, of course, there's the notepad and pen he keeps in his pocket, with a special page reserved for his Displeasure List, a record kept of the various nuisances he feels he should seek retribution against.
  • Appearance: An average man, rather on the short side with dirty blonde hair already turned grey at the temples. He dresses in formal black business attire, all neatly starched and pressed, with a black tie that's wound much too tight, reflecting the man himself.
  • Personality: The Bureau-Crat is a man well suited for the business atmosphere and little else, focused as he is on the facts and figures of life. He carries himself with ramrod importance, and is quick to lose patience if things aren't performed to his exact specifications. He possesses a narcissistic streak as long as his leg, and is quick to dismiss the opinions of others, and see himself as being on the level of his employers after doing relatively little to gain their favour.
  • Background: Born to an American aircraft engineer and a soviet defector, Mr Denton grew up on the fringes of military, but was more of a thinker than a fighter himself. His ability manifested at some point in his mid-teens, but after the initial surprise, he thought little of it, just considering it a useful trick for getting stuff into his office space. This he did, as he enlisted with the FBI and elegantly rose through the ranks. However, either through his elevated status or frequent exposure to the Shadow Plane, Denton grew more and more self-absorbed. He took callous satisfaction in listing the wrongdoings of his targets while crazy lackeys pinned them down, and access to easy storage helped in the odd bit of corporate theft and embezzlement. He was starting to get on the higher-up's radar for his actions, not to mention his attitude, but before he could really get in hot water, he grew bored with his profession and decided to up and quit. He moved to Boston, with no real plan in mind, only to one day be met with a dirty figure in black, who was almost dismissed until a bit of ‘shadow puppetry' convinced Denton this man was worthy of his time. He soon became the chieftain organiser for the rapidly expanding enterprise, keeping stock of the Shadow Player's agenda, expenditures, sleeping arrangements, and not to mention dress code.

  • Night Flight
  • Real Name: Adrian O'Connor
  • Abilities
    • Skills: Night Flight is a perfect example of stout strength, with his wider physique bearing formidable, if perfectly human, brawn. Fittingly, he has some skill when it comes to wrestling. He is quick on his feet as well, meaning bad things for anyone around when he goes charging into battle.
    • Powers: Through the power of his mind, Night Flight can cause objects, including himself, to defy gravity and float through the air wherever he wants it to go. The focal point for his telekinesis is the shadow of the object. By focusing on it, he can make the shadow shrink and move around, putting the object casting it into a state of ‘retroactive perspective'. He only starts struggling with objects that are bigger and heavier than a large car. It's not that he doesn't think he can move them, more like ‘'they'' ‘think' that they shouldn't be moveable. He's also honing his skills at moving or rotating parts of the shadow, potentially letting him move things like a puppet on a string.
  • Appearance: A slightly tall, yet stocky man, with a bush of curly black hair, thick eyebrows, and a sizeable bushy beard. Typically dresses in black trousers, black trainers, and a black t-shirt that shows off his arms.
  • Personality: Saying little but doing much, Night Flight brims with confidence in his abilities. He can be tough and intimidating when on the clock, but enjoys a good drink and a scrap whenever he can. Unfortunately, he's rather deadened to the idea of empathy and remorse, enabling him to get rather brutal in his attacks, sometimes to the point of psychotic rage.
  • Background: Another native Bostonite, from a working class Irish family, O'Connor was always a lad innately secure in his masculinity. At each stage in life, he found a slot that he settled into neatly and carried with pride, be that school bully, football, wrestling, factory work, security detail, or drag performance. Such was his confidence that he'd had dreams of flying even before his late teens, when he found he could toss things just by looking at them and float around the room like Peter Goddamn Pan. This ability, mixed with his confidence, eventually became a problem for all when out late partying with the boys he became guilty of destruction of property, several counts of grievous bodily harm, and defying gravity while under the influence. After losing his job and getting blacklisted from every club in town, O'Connor soon became a homeless derelict, sleeping in the cold half way up skyscrapers and taking his anger out in petty acts of violence. However, one altercation with the police one night took a turn for the unexpected when the squad cars turned black, ripped themselves to shreds and tangled up the policemen. Confused, O'Connor tried to make good his escape, but was snagged by the angle and dragged down to earth, where a creepy figure in a hat had a proposition for him.

  • Moral Outage
  • Real Name: Robin Jones
  • Abilities
    • Powers: Elemental light and darkness projecting from Moral Outage's eyes causes any mortal that sees it, and doesn't draw power from the Shadow or Light Planes, to have their moral outlook turned onto its head. Bad turns to good, chaos turns to order, at least until they're exposed to that same shadow-light again. Ordinary eye contact would take about a full minute of mesmerising before the switch is complete, otherwise they'd revert back upon looking away. However, every time Moral's eyes are closed or covered, the energy builds up, to be inevitably released in a burst of simultaneous black and white, which causes an instantaneous effect on those that happen to be watching.
  • Appearance: A slim young man with light brown hair and handsome features including a pointy noise and chin. Typically wears a smart casual black and white suit with a jacket, and is never seen without his black glasses that obscure and store the alignment-afflicting energy. His eyes, when unobscured, are of constantly rippling kaa-like patterns, only in every shade of black and white known to man.
  • Personality: Easily frazzled, easily intimidated, Moral Outage is a timid and nervous man who only bows to the whim of the Hat Catcher out of fear from serious harm. Years of accidental power use has convinced him that everything he touches turns to crap, and he has little to no confidence in his own ability to do the right thing, so he leaves the proactive action to others. However, Outage still possesses a strong conscience, usually manifesting as an apology before he changes a target, and occasionally some strong protest to the Hat Catcher's plans which is instantly regretted. Whenever not in his superiors' presence, Outage does his best to keep a smile on his face, and on those around him.
  • Background: Robin grew up on a farm somewhere in central Massachusetts, with a close knit family of brothers and sisters to tend to the cows and sheep alongside. It was a pleasant life, with not much in the way of happenstance, at least until his early teens, when the occasional black or white ripple would pass across his eye whenever he blinked. Robin seemed the only one aware of it for a while, everyone else that saw it just got briefly dizzy and confused. He, however, was only too aware of it, and grew very self conscious about it, avoiding eye contact whenever he could. Unfortunately, the power got worse and worse from there, dazing and confusing witnesses for longer and longer periods, until he began wearing dark glasses at all times to hide his mesmerising eyes. Unfortunately, this gave the impression he thought he was cooler than everyone else, and the bigger and tougher kids began kicking back.
  • One day, when he was about fifteen, one of the worst of the bunch pinned him to a wall, dashing his glasses away. Robin pinned his eyes shut until he could take no more, then opened them in a brilliant flash. The bully was stunned for a moment, then returned to his senses much more gentle and polite than before. Robin was confused, but still pleased, at least until the teacher came over to find out what happened. Robin looked the teacher right in the eye as he explained the whole thing, only for the teacher to completely dismiss him, and start tearing up the surroundings calling for anarchy. It wasn't long before the school corridor began to descend into chaos, with more and more students and teachers piling in and getting unintentionally hit by flashes of morality warping power. As the panic reached its peak, Robin fled the school and ran straight home. But the worst was yet to come. His mother and siblings tried to comfort the boy, only to be transformed into a pack of mutually-abusive monsters, as the animals outside began brutally warring amongst themselves. Robin ran away from home that night, and spent the night in the woods, drowning in his own tears.
  • Some time in the early morning, he calmed down enough to return home, and survey the carnage he had wrought upon his house, and favourite animals. He crept quietly from room to room, opening the eyelids of his victims to put the whammy on them and restore them to normal. He stopped by the school as well, avoiding attention, only staying long enough to fix his mistakes. After that, he went on the road, spending the next few years travelling from town to town, never staying too long for fear of ruining someone else's life. He'd intended to travel the country, but by his early twenties he was drawn back the other way, to the city of Boston Massachusetts. One night, while passing through an alleyway, he met a strange man who'd heard tell of his abilities, and had use for the young man's special gifts. Robin thanked him for his interest, then hurriedly moved on, only for the alleyway to close in front of him, and for the gentleman to make it clear he didn't have a choice. Thus began the less-than-illustrious career of the man now nicknamed Moral Outage.

  • Silent Type
  • Real Name: Norma Rentsch
  • Abilities
    • Skills: Silent Type's main skill is in being an innately talented as an accurate and speedy touch typist. Not much on its own, but a useful skill for the abilities she bears.
    • Powers: When focusing on the shadowy power within her, Silent Type can create shadowy letters on an object directly in front of her. This could be accomplished with an actual writing implement, or even just an imaginary pen if her imagining is concrete enough, but she prefers to imagine herself in front of an invisible keyboard and type out the letters that way. In any case, any letters not contained in quotation marks cause a given effect to happen to an object. For example, if she typed the word ‘burn' onto a houseplant, it would cause the plant in question to start smouldering or combust.
  • Appearance: A slim young lady with a mop of brown hair and a slight point to her chin. Typically dresses in a large black coat over a light grey top and long black skirt, with a little black beret on a jaunty angle on her head. She also uses dark eye liner that always seems to turn out smudged and panda-like. Never really known to smile that often.
  • Personality: Silent Type is a mute, a trait related somehow to the manifesting of her powers, but whether it's through the power itself, the trauma of the power manifesting or even the trauma of what her power manifesting caused is unclear. What is clear is that she's by no means happy with where her life has taken her, and though she keeps much of what she feels to herself, she tends to have a distant, sad expression on her face, occasionally turning sour when she feels like lashing out.
  • Background: Norma was young lady of germanic heritage, whose family had moved to the American countryside when she was very small. She was always considered a bright and chipper young lady, become fast friends with many in her grade and always finding a reason to laugh and smile. However, in her early to mid teens, she discovered she discovered that strange things would happen sometimes when she wrote something down, or typed something up. She saw no reason to keep this secret from friends and family, and entertained the crowds by making desks turn spongey or paper fly across the room. It should really have brought her happiness herself, but manifesting this power always seemed to coincide with those moments where she felt...empty, and cold, for no real reason at all. She kept on chatting and laughing and showing off for her friends, becoming a little celebrity for being a walking Harry Potter novel, but associating her powers with her depressive periods made her regretful every time. Eventually, she stopped using her tricks, no matter how much everyone begged and pleaded, and always made sure to stifle her abilities whenever her pen colour turned too black.
  • Then one day, in the aftermath of a nasty breakup, Norma shut herself in her room, intending to write her vengeance against her uncaring ex. However, she failed to take how her powers worked into account, and accidentally brought half the house down and putting her little brother in critical condition. Her sibling pulled through and family compensated, but nothing was ever the same after that. Those who knew her powers beforehand suspected what happened, and started giving her a wide berth, while she herself lost all reason to pretend that she was in a happy mood. Norma practically sleepwalked through the rest of her education, and went on to become a court stenographer. It was partly to hone and practice her abilities, but also seemingly a sign of resignation, of admitting defeat against what she really was. Indeed, when the man in the hat came to ‘offer' her some work outside the law, she could do no more but sigh, nod, and accept.

The Freedom Regiment

Jack Hart

  • Identity: Leader of the Freedom Regiment, former slave and ward of the American government

  • Abilities:

    • Precognition

    • Telepathy

    • Pyrokinesis

  • Appearance: An African American man in a Union Army uniform, with bandages covering his left arm, leg, and most of the left side of his jaw, due to burns sustained from the fire he started as a child

  • Personality: Jack’s experiences have left him with a healthy distrust of the government and authority figures, as well as the determination to be a better leader. He can be cold at times, but no one can fault his determination or his skill as a tactician.

  • Background:

    • Born in 1835, Jack’s abilities manifested as a child when he started a fire that destroyed the entire plantation he was kept on. Afterwards, he was “adopted” by the US government, who thought he would be useful to them. When the Civil War started, Jack, while cynical about America as a whole, was optimistic about the chance to end slavery. Because of his race and his status as a “ward” of the government, he wasn’t allowed to join the army, so he escaped and started his own group with which to fight the Confederacy. After freeing several PO Ws from a camp, he started the Freedom Regiment, who fought throughout the Civil War and even well afterwards.

    • Once the war ended, Jack convinced the Regiment to stay together and continue saving lives and fighting for justice. They remained together up until the turn of the century. Afterwards, Jack became a schoolteacher. He passed away at the age of 86, in 1921.

Silas Lennox

  • Identity: Irish immigrant, transgender man, sniper, and descendant of ancient Celtic druid Cathbad.

  • Abilities:

    • Expert marksman and sniper

    • As a descendant of Cathbad, Silas has inherited some of his ancestor’s druid powers. He can communicate with animals telempathically, predict the weather with uncanny accuracy, and is exceptionally skilled at natural remedies. (That last part led to a brief rivalry with Caroline, before they realized they could complement one another and became closer to friendly rivals).

  • Appearance: A stocky, underfed transgender man with reddish-brown hair and a smattering of freckles, wearing a slightly ill-fitting Union Army uniform made for someone taller.

  • Personality: Silas is cool and cocky, but he has a big heart and a willingness to help others. For all that he acts detached from the world around him, he feels things very deeply, and much of what he does is because he wants to live his life on his own terms.

  • Background: Silas was born in Ireland in 1839, and as a baby immigrated to America alongside his parents, Thomas and Bridget Wilson. His father died when he was seven, and his mother remarried Oswald Lennox, a traveling salesman. Silas and Oswald got along swimmingly, in large part because Oswald supported Silas wearing masculine clothes and living as a man (under the rationale that it made it easier for Silas to find work, but still). After the death of Oswald and Bridget in a train crash, sixteen-year-old Silas adopted Oswald’s surname for his own.

    • Silas drifted from town to town, performing odd jobs until the outbreak of the Civil War, when Silas joined the Union Army. He was captured by Confederates and sent to a POW camp. At the camp, he met and befriended Abigail Deane, and the two of them escaped and freed the prisoners with the help of psychic Jack Hart. They founded the Freedom Regiment, and they fought throughout the Civil War and even well afterwards. At the end of the war, Silas and Abigail married. When the Freedom Regiment disbanded, Silas and Abigail stayed in California, and adopted several children. He passed away in 1931, at the age of 92.

Abigail Deane

  • Identity: Former Union Army soldier and cougar shapeshifter. Later known as Abigail Lennox.

  • Abilities:

    • Shapeshifting into a cougar

    • Skilled markswoman

  • Appearance: A disheveled, dark-haired woman wearing a slightly modified Union Army uniform.

  • Personality: Abigail is quiet, serious, and socially awkward. She often feels torn between life as a human and life as a cougar, and she has had to learn to accept the troubles of humanity along with its good aspects. While not particularly well-educated (what with having spent a good chunk of her life as an animal), she has her fair share of moments of intelligence, and she’s pretty empathetic.

  • Background:

    • Abigail was born in Missouri in 1841, the seventh of nine children. When she was fourteen, her entire family was killed by illness, and Abigail abandoned human society to live in the wilderness as a cougar.

    • After five years, she returned to human life. With her options limited, Abigail disguised herself as a man and joined the Union Army. She was among soldiers captured by Confederates and sent to a POW camp. At the camp, she met and befriended fellow soldier Silas Lennox, and the two of them escaped and freed the prisoners with the help of psychic Jack Hart. They founded the Freedom Regiment, and they fought throughout the Civil War and even well afterwards. At the end of the war, Silas and Abigail married. When the Freedom Regiment disbanded, Silas and Abigail stayed in California, and adopted several children. She passed away in 1937, at the age of 96.

Caroline Hope

  • Identity: Aspiring doctor from a wealthy background.

  • Abilities:

    • A medical doctor with some training, though she’s primarily learned through experience, trial, and error.

    • She’s become a moderately skilled markswoman during her time with the Freedom Regiment.

  • Appearance: A black woman in her late twenties, with hair in a chignon. While she initially preferred to wear dresses, she has been known to wear pants when it’s more practical to do so.

  • Personality: Excitable, bookish, and prone to Motor Mouth, Caroline’s interest in medicine comes from her compassion, her curiosity, and her desire to prove herself as brilliant. As a logical and rational sort, she initially didn’t get along with Silas, owing to his mystical abilities, but they soon developed a fairly friendly rivalry.

  • Background:

    • Caroline (born in 1840) came from a fairly well-off African American family in Boston. From a young age, she was interested in anatomy and medicine, and while her gender and race barred her from medical school, she learned what she could by sneaking into lectures and reading textbooks.

    • When the Civil War broke out, Caroline applied to be a nurse, and while she was initially turned down, she eventually made her way to a post in a US government hospital. It was through this post that she met the Freedom Regiment: Jack Hart had been injured in a clash with a Confederate necromancer, and Caroline managed to save his life. The Regiment, impressed, offered her the chance to join them, and Caroline agreed. She remained a member throughout the war and well afterwards.

    • When the Freedom Regiment disbanded, Caroline remained in New Mexico and opened a small medical school to teach the basics of medicine to anyone who would learn. She passed away in 1920, at the age of 80.

Marya Zaleska

  • Identity: Polish vampire, elected Dracula in 1897.

  • Abilities:

    • Superhuman physical attributes

    • Mesmerism

    • Fluent in Polish, Latin, French, English, and German

    • Vulnerable to sunlight and religious symbols, cannot cross running water

  • Appearance: A tall, stern-faced, pale woman, who wears a lot of black and never goes anywhere without a large veiled hat to protect herself from the sun.

  • Personality:

  • Background:

    • Marya Zaleska was born into an aristocratic family in 1700 in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Her mother Wieslawa died when Marya was young, and Marya was a withdrawn, lonely child as a result.

    • At the age of twenty, a mysterious woman Marya’s age named Carmilla was stranded near her family’s estate. She became Marya’s closest companion and friend, and soon more than that. It didn’t take long for Carmilla to reveal to Marya that she wasn’t human, she was a vampire. Marya, thoroughly in love, asked Carmilla to make her a vampire so they could be together forever. Carmilla acquiesced. They decided to run away together to Carmilla’s native Austria, and once they made it there, it became clear that Carmilla hadn’t been telling the whole story. Carmilla’s real name was Mircalla Karnstein, and the one who had turned her was none other than Wieslawa Zaleska. Wieslawa had survived her illness by becoming a vampire, and on top of that, she was the Dracula, the leader of vampire society. She had dispatched Mircalla to bring Marya to her and to turn her into a vampire.

    • Marya escaped, and spent the next several decades trekking across Europe. In 1854, she emigrated to the United States to stay out of her mother’s reach and settled in Panna Maria, Karnes County, Texas alongside other Poles. Within a year, her fellow citizens figured out something about their neighbor wasn’t quite right, and Marya went on the run again.

    • During her time as a vagrant, she met and befriended Jack Hart, a young psychic man who was also on the run. When Jack formed the Freedom Regiment, he contacted Marya to join them as well. Marya fought alongside the Freedom Regiment throughout the Civil War and well afterwards.

    • In 1897, Marya was called to Romania for the election of the new Dracula, as Wieslawa had been assassinated. Marya soon became embroiled in a political conspiracy, and she proceeded to expose it to vampire society at large. For her bravery and cunning, Marya attained a sort of legend status among her fellow vampires, and she was elected the new Dracula, a position she has held since.

Voyl Seng

  • Identity: Kaydenite soldier and refugee.

  • Abilities:

    • Hardlight generation: Due to his Kaydenite biology, Voyl has four hollow organs inside his abdominal region. By focusing his body's electrical potential to these organs, Voyl can generate a malleable plasma-like substance and direct it to different areas of his body, or even expel it outwards in the form of plasma shots or constructs. The constructs he favors tend to be specialized gauntlets that allow him to utilize his strength at greater levels. Continuous hardlight generation can burn out his organs for a time, so he has to be judicious in its use.

  • Appearance: Appears to be an abnormally pale man with white irises. He can pass for human, but it took him a while to want to do so - he used to introduce himself as “proud Kaydenite,” something that made most people think he was mad. While he initially tried to only wear his Kayden military uniform, he eventually traded it for a Union Army uniform when his old one was damaged beyond repair.

  • Personality: Voyl tries to be serious and dignified, but unfortunately for him, that just makes it worse when misfortunes happen to him. Initially very divorced from anything on Earth and focused on returning to Kayden, a large part of him grew to prefer it on Earth specifically because it gave him a place to grow on his own merits. He was never truly happy on Kayden, which is probably why he eventually grew comfortable on Earth. Even so, he never quite got over feeling like a traitor to his home realm.

  • Background:

    • Voyl was an Academy washout who was assigned to work on top-secret spacebending technology - as a janitor. When the technology malfunctioned, Voyl ended up on Earth in 1861, right in the middle of a Confederate regiment.

    • After being shot and burning out his hardlight, he ended up in a Confederate POW camp. He was among the prisoners freed by Jack Hart, and he ended up joining the group Jack was forming, the Freedom Regiment.

    • Voyl stayed on throughout the Civil War and even well afterwards, as he grew accustomed to life on Earth, and even happy to an extent. He’s still alive, and currently resides in Vancouver.

Dragoknight

(Demon Knight, The Hellfire Rocket, The Brass Scourge, The Judge Cloaked In The Emerald Inferno)
Michael MacIntyre, hero, obscure identity

Powers

Dragoknight is a Living Mythos empowered by the Conqueror, the Flame, a villainous Narrative whose nature it is to corrupt and change, lashing out with nuclear fury and caked in layers of brass and pain. Michael's sheer force of personality has fought back in its own way, changing, tilting the Mythos slightly to better suit himself and his far more heroic endeavors. Not unlike Gabriella, Umber, he's used his own base training and other work arounds to limit the more heinous nature of his powers.
  • By Pain Reforged, By Agony Empowered: The Conqueror lays in his pit in endless pain, toppled from his seat atop the Universe in a battle too ancient for the eldest alien species to even recall. Bloodied but not broken, he waits, but not for an end to his suffering. That agony has become his nature, a source of ceaseless power. Dragoknight has internalized this, making him outright immune to psychic effect that would cause fear and would otherwise stagger him in anyway. In fact, he gains strength from all sources of damage on him.
    • Bloodied-But-Unbowed Inviction: The Collaborator-Who-Would-Be-King died, his body cast into the pit fashioned from his corpse and rose up again as the Conqueror. From this legend Dragoknight draws this power from to return to life immediately upon death. As in dead and, nope, got back up. He does this by exploding because of course he does. Doing so take a toll upon his soul, one which he must spend one or two days living to repair before he can risk dying again.
  • Fleshbreaking Imperator Style: An instinctual style of martial arts that favors heavy, finishing blows. The Fleshbreaking Imperator is also allowed to series a fast, brutal combo, either as a lead-up to a finishing attack or by itself. Against an opponent that needs it, Dragoknight favors a rapid series of punches and occasional spin kicks, ending with a double ax kick if necessary. When he's got the drop on someone, he may just skip to that ax kick. His training as a police officer allows him the option for non-lethal takedowns. Less lethal than dropping a rocket powered ax kick on someone's head, at least.
  • Chosen Of The Infernal Conqueror: Dragoknight has an instinctive access to magic. It must fit themes of fire, metal, domination or demons. He has the capabibility to by-pass certain prerequisites some magics require, specifically the kind that require one be or perform "Evil" acts. Whenever he uses this ability, a glowing green sigil will appear on his forehead. It's exact shape defies description, but those who look upon it gain a certain amount of instinctual insight into the entity he draws power from.
    • Forged In The Fires Of Doom: Dragoknight holds power to forge artifacts of magic. He requires brass as a base material and some kinda radioactive material, at least as radioactive as potassium, to begin the forging process. They must resonate, in someway, with the Conqueror's themes, but Michael has further used this to subvert the Conqueror's heinous nature. He's made a panoply of a middle-less trident (bident?), weighted nets and bolas. The trident expands to encompass any girth when he throws it (acting like Blue Beetle's staples), the weights on the net can change weight and all of them fly straight and true as to not grievously injure those he sets to capture. He made them with the promise that he wanted his foes unharmed so he may break them at his leisure. His "leisure" happens to be "never" with a side of "handing them to the authorities". He also wears a ring and an amulet, affectionately referred to by Vicky as the One Ring and the Eye Of Sauron respectively, that suppresses a number of his abilities while worn. Mohan helped him make it, using the memories of some of the worst things Wally ever saw. The promise here is that he'll take it off to show those pathetic fools his true form, and Dragoknight has followed through on that before.
  • Words Forged In The Emerald Furnace: Dragoknight's words boom with the authority of the Conqueror. As a consequence, he can no longer whisper, his normal talking voice bordering on shouting. It comes laced with suggestions, enhancing any social attempts at getting people to do what he wants, powered by a combination of sheer charismatic vigor and the terror his words inspire. However, words laced in the truth and righteousness of his conquest, he cannot lie. Well, less, cannot lie at all and more cannot lie well, his dishonesty obviously ringing supernaturally through his voice. While he can supress the benefits of this power, preventing him from swaying minds when he feels it is unjust to do, being unable to lie is a permanent effect. Only partially suppressed by the Amulet. He still can't manage an "inside voice" very well and he can't outright lie, only skirt around the truth.
  • Brazen Obelus Tegument: His flesh has taken on a brassy metallic sheen, his eyes and innards grow with infernal green. Cut him, and he will not bleed, if you can cut him. His body is a magnitude above peak human toughness, being blade, bullet and blunt trauma resistant.
    • Metal Within, Metal Without: Superstrength, somewhere on the right side of the scale of superstrength. Partially suppressed by the Amulet, still making somewhere a few steps above peak human.
    • Spurning Heaven's Wrath: Along with heat, demons are often resistant to electricity. I don't know why. Dragoknight himself shrugs off fire and lightning as well as any denizen of the pits. He is still vulnerable to the cold and sound based attacks. Partially suppressed by the Amulet, but still pretty resistant.
    • God Killing Frame: Locked by the Amulet. Brass armor has grown around his flesh, completely obscuring his body and features, except for his sinister, glowing green eyes through the eyeholes of his helmet. It has the strength of tank armor with extra enchanted resistance.
      • Heart-Fed Ancillary Psychosystem: Residing in the armor's helmet, a second intelligence has sprouted in the Dragoknight's mind. This intelligence shares in Michael's motivations and goal, only wishing to support and further his plans. It acts as a second set of eyes and ears, perfectly remembering everything and granting suitable, vivid hallucinations at Michael's behest. It provides a host of information; ambient temperature, magnetic North, the breathability of the surrounding atmosphere, the current time and an accurate prediction of the weather for the next 24 hours. Finally, it jealousy guards Michael's body and mind. For his body, it monitor his health and warns him of any risks to it. For his mind, it is a bulwark to invasion. For all its love of Michael and his vision, it is a manifestation of the Flame, and those that would hounds its beloved's mind will deal with the touch of sickening, angry, nuclear flame inside their own.
      • Hope-Banishing Brass Collosus: Locked by the Ring. In this form, he is a giant (~5.5m) walking set of hollow armor, immune to those things that would normally inconvenience a flesh and blood person, like poisons and getting your arm ripped off.
  • Green Sun Nimbus Flare: Locked by the Amulet. Michael needed some kind of pure hatred in his heart to gain this power. More on that in his bio. So, long and short of it, his attacks explode with emerald fire. His kick is a green fireballs, his rapid fisticuffs a jade inferno, his headbutt a grenade the same color as... grenades. The fire partly ignores fire resistance, as it burn not just with heat but with hate. This goes for the fire of all related abilities. Partially suppressed by the Amulet, making his flames weaker.
    • Viridian Sunshine Devestation: Locked by the Amulet. Lasers and fireballs, he can project that same emerald fire from his limbs, eyes and mouth at a distance. Not as strong as his melee attacks, but it's hard to tell how much that has to do with lacking his super strength backing or being far from the source of its power.
    • Heaven-Scorched Sunfire Projection: Locked by the Amulet. Rocket fire. Fire coming out of him (and his armor) like a rocket. Rocket fists. Rocket fists that also explode. Rockets for flight, rockets to give him super speed, the later applicationgenerally faster and more maneuverable. Although, both are pretty fast and have horrible maneuvering. Flying, he has to spare a lot of of surface area for upward lift, not so for running, further spent speed or maneuvering. If he flies slow though, he maneuvers pretty well.
      • Burning Contempt For Life: Locked by the One Ring. Without it, he would permanently be projecting a translucent screen of green fire out from arm-length of his body (whatever the length of his arm at the time, see Hope-Banishing Collosus). This screen burns everything within it but offers no warmth outside that field.
  • The Abyss Manifest: Michael exudes an aura of menace, malice and malevolence. Besides how he looks, he just feels like a bad guy. He alone does not feel this aura; instead he feels it from everyone else. Their hate, their sadism, their negativity, their greed. The evil of others exudes as clearly to him as his own seems to to others. Partially suppressed by the Amulet, reducing the aura to a nagging suspicion and the insight to being a real, good judge of character. Those who have come to know him have become inured to this aura and know him for the man he really is.
    • Hatred Is Mine: Locked by the Amulet Dragoknight's own lack of conviction in the uses of torture has lessened the strength of this power. It should cause all of the hurts a person has made to gather back upon them, like Ghost's Rider Penance stare, with just a glance or a gesture. Instead, as Dragoknight gazes upon a person, a good hard stare, he conjures up a sense of melancholy, disappointment and self-reflection. He lays down on them an urge to look back upon the evils their life has laid and, perhaps, feel remorse for what they did.
      • Living Maelstrom Of Horror: Locked by the One Ring. The aura of The Abyss Manifest jumps up in strength by an order of a magnitude and a glare per Hatred Is Mine borders on its original purpose, albeit more heavily leaning on a guilt trip. He is a walking demon, Hell on Earth, your worst nightmare made manifest; at least the aura encourages all those interpretations.
  • Cleanse The World In The Flames Of Mine Own Heart: Locked by the One Ring. Dragoknight rips open his chest armor and reveals the nuclear furnace that has replaced his body beneath. This is Cyclop's full optic blast, but everything is on hate fire. The blast lasts for a single brilliant moment, draining Dragoknight of everything he's got. Once done, there is nothing left; his armor falls away and he shrinks back to his original body, the body he had before. The fire dims to cinders and the aura of malice winks out. Brazen Obelus Tegument, Green Sun Nimbus Flare, The Abyss Manifest and all associated abilities are lost. This lasts until he goes through one midnight moon and noonday sun, at which points he violently explodes, because of course he does, assuming the form of all his abilities once more, unless he was wearing the One Ring or the Amulet, than most of his abilities.

Appearance

Dragoknight's armor is entirely brass brown, covered in reliefs of, you might guess, dragons. This has nothing to do with the Conqueror, but because Michael thinks dragons are cool and that's what the armor jumped off when it formed. This is his helmet's basic shape. Underneath, in the spots his flesh is exposed, one sees the African features of the man he was, with shinny metalic skin, burning viridian eyes and shimmering bronze and emerald hair. Cut him, and he will not bleed but veins of virdigris will be exposed. When using Viridian Sunshine Devestation from his hands, his arm might transform into Samus-esque arm canons. Rocket enginges might form when using Heaven-Scorched Sunfire Projection, wings like a cross between insect and jets might form when he flies.

Personality

In short, Michael tries really hard to be Superman. Not Superman specifically, and not trying as in he's faking. He's a bit of a dork, but truly wants to be an inspirational symbol of justice. If not, then an enforcer of it. He acts like a dad, admonishing others for their actions with gentle chiding. He upholds truth, justice and law. Normally, he tries to be a nice guy about it, even to his foes. However, when need calls, he will break out the "The Devil Has Come" routine.

History

Michael was once a police officer, an upstanding, clean-cut one, a strong believer in the order he was meant to enforce. However, there was an incident, likely a hostage situation or disaster, with a loud, public police fuck-up and lots of lives loss. Michael had been one of the officers in charge of the situation and he was broken by the mistakes made. The police chief knew a good scape-goat when he saw one and threw MacIntyre under the bus, a part he did not resist in his own self-recrimination. Stripped of his job, lambasted by the media and struggling under the guilt of his failures, Michael hit his lowest point, of absolute and utter self-loathing.

This is when the Conqueror reached out and touched him. However, Michael did not turn from the ideals or the system he may have felt betrayed him. Instead, with this power, he would uphold them even further. In his time as a hero, he fought in the Invasion, and had to be convinced to break his 'no killing' rule in a time of war against and alien threat. He came into contact with TALOS and maintained that contact. They have, whenever in need of muscle to fight a real bad dude, have not been afraid to unleash the devil.

He also came into contact with Emerald during this time. She eventually saw through his aura, after it let him and her fight. They both bond over living in a world made of glass/dry tinder and have sparring matches, as often each is to the other 'The only one I can hit, like THIS.' Emerald once set up Amethyst in a sparring match with Dragoknight. He freaked out like he were a bad guy and the poor kid got trounced.

The Spirit and Will (A superhero duo)

The Venom Dog

Identity: Joseph Stark, vigilante and anti-hero.

Abilities: All of his powers are connected to will: the more will he has, the more powerful he is. He can augment his physical capabilities, as well as create constructs made of will. Along with it, The Dog has supernaturally strong will. So, Green Lantern essentially. Theoretically, this ability allows people achieve many great feats, but Joseph's cynicism prevents him from his full potential (which involves flying).

  • Construct Creation: The Venom Dog is able to create blue/transparent constructs with the help of Will. Most of the times, he creates barriers, shields, armor and weapons of any kind (not the ridiculous ones like hammer-sword, though).

  • Physical Augmentation: Will also allows Joseph to improve everything related to a physical body. Strength, endurance, speed, reflexes, agility, eyesight, hearing are the things he definitely can improve. However, physical augmentations can't really reach the level of other superhumans who have specialized physical superpower. For example, if most supers have A level super strength, Joseph can only reach B. In short, he is Jack of All Trades.

  • Specific Weapon Proficiency: Even though The Venom Dog can create many types of weapons (melee and ranged), he has specific weapons that he favors and can summon more easily. The clearer picture he has about the weapon he uses in his mind (structure and its use), more easily he can conjure them.

    • Ax Proficiency: The Dog excels at double ax wielding. Trained by Lady Ritter, a superhero who was the master of close combat and weapon use, Joseph developed his own style of ax wielding that involves double axes. However, he sometimes uses other weapons to distract and confuse his opponents.

    • Shotgun Proficiency: For ranged weapon, he chose a pistol to utilize as his main firearm. While he can use other guns, he is more sloppy with them than with a handgun, since Joseph fully studied the use of handgun.

  • Unbreakable Will: While he can be affected by psychic attacks of all sorts, Joseph can never be truly broken or controlled. The dent on his mind can be made, but breaking it is impossible.

Appearance: Looks somewhat like this (except with more scars). He is man in his 20's. For a costume he has a black cowl and black mask.

Personality: Cynical to no end. Though he doesn't show it that much to others besides snarking. Willing to be pragmatic to extreme degrees if needed. Believes that Violence is the Only Option when dealing with supervillains. However, beneath this seemingly rough and gruff exterior, lies a broken man who hates himself more than anyone else. Despite his cynicism, Joseph tries to teach Yu-Na to become a hero, unlike himself. He also dislikes fanatics of any kind. Joseph likes cooking and reading about history during free time.

Backstory: Having lost his parents (with no memories of them) and raised by his abusive aunt (who was their killer), Joseph was not actually a happy person. However, after a super-criminal burned Joseph's whole home down, killing his aunt in the process, the boy was soon adopted by a superhero named Lady Ritter. Thanks to her, he knew happiness, love, and aspired to become a superhero. Until the super-supremacist organization called Foundation for the Future murdered her. Revenge was his mind, as he feverishly hunted down the Foundation, earning the nickname Venom Dog. On the way, he meets Red Riding Hood, Yu-Na. Then, they formed a pair to dismantle the Foundation and help people in the process.

Red Riding Hood:

Identity: Ko Yu-Na (Ashley is her English name), technically a vigilante. Hero.

Abilities: Ashley is essentially a wraith, so she can control what is called a Wraith Force: an energy originated in the outside plane of existence that is between life and death. She omits black aura when she puts more input. Wraith Force enables a person to have three powers: Death Force (an ability related to death, may be related to the cause of their death), Life Force (an ability related to life) and Dying Wish Force (manifestation of wielder's wish before their death). Yu-Na is severely limited in her usage of Wraith Force because of her optimism.

  • Energy attacks and Decay of Mind (AKA Death Force): With this energy, Yu-Na is able to use energy-based attacks (...duh). To be more specific, she can fire energy beams, energy balls and energy bolts. Also, she can power her fists and legs with Wraith Force. If they don't destroy their targets, then these attacks leave a decaying effect of the mind (that can reach the sensation of death if not careful) that disappears when the target is in a state of non-conflict. This is essentially despair slowly forming inside enemy's mind. However, psychics or supers with some psychic immunities are unaffected by this.

  • Flight (AKA Dying Wish Force): With Wraith Energy, Yu-Na can fly around freely. The explanation behind this is that flying was her wish (of being like a superhero) manifested into a superpower.

  • Healing Factor (AKA Life Force): When injured, her damages heal almost instantly. However, due to the limitations and inexperience, she can't recover From a Single Cell, even it is theoretically possible.

  • Wraith: Her ultimate power is to transform into what she calls a "Wraith". In this form, her powers are augmented, she can teleport and instill despair upon enemies. In addition, Wraith causes her surrounding environment to rot.

Appearance: The reason she is called Red Riding Hood. She is 18 and very petite (fancy way of saying small).

Personality: Cheerful and kind, though since her resurrection, Yu-Na became.... a little eccentric. While not outright ridiculous most of the time, at some points she makes some weird remarks about things (probably related to spirits she sees). Yu-Na admires superheroes, having read comics since childhood. However, deeply she is insecure about herself, due to her powers and state of being. Also, she doesn't like being called little or short.

Backstory: Yu-Na always dreamed of becoming a superhero. However, her body was weak due to an unknown disease. Despite the fact that her death was certain, she never gave up hope and was always willing to help people, even if her body did not support it. Right after her death, Yu-Na saw a certain spirit. It claimed itself to be Captain Spirit, who was also dying, and offered her to take its mantle. Yu-Na accepted it and lived again. After the great miracle, she undertook her path to become an undead superhero and, on the way, met Joseph Stark. After that, they fight together for great justice... and ice cream.

So I wasn't going to do another character, but then I decided I wanted someone who could interact with heroes. I regret nothing.

Monkey

(Great Sage That Equals Heaven, Beautiful Monkey Queen, Glorious Fighting Buddha, Heir of Wukong)

  • Identity: Sun Setsuko, Hero, Public Identity
  • Abilities:
    • Strong Kong: Possessing the body of a goddess, Setsuko possesses superhuman strength, toughness, and nimbleness. Her tail is prehensile and functions as a fifth limb, and grants her a perfect sense of balance. She's naturally resistant to most forms of magic, but is vulnerable to sealing magic.
    • Monkey's Mastery: An innate skill for martial arts and a serene mind to master them quickly. Setsuko is an incredibly good fighter despite her only teacher being old Wuxia films. She has incredible amounts of willpower and can shrug off all but the strongest mental assaults. Her golden-eyed gaze can see through deception, making her essentially a living lie-detector.
    • Mystic Powers: Setsuko can duplicate herself and change shape at will. Her clones, being simple constructs, are numerous but can be dispelled with a single, forceful blow. Her shapeshifting is similarly basic, though she's improving with practice. Currently she can turn into a human or any kind of monkey, as well as turn her skin to stone or change parts of her body into tools and weapons. She must understand how something works to change into it, though, so she usually just does simple things.
    • Ruyi Jingu Bang: The red-and-gold staff of legend. It can change size and shape at Setsuko's will, extending, bending, and even duplicating itself on her whim. It is exceedingly heavy, and only someone with super-strength could even hope to lift it. Of course, it only obeys Setsuko, so even if someone tried to take it, she could use it against them.
  • Appearance: A white-furred monkey girl, usually barefoot, with bright golden eyes.
  • Personality: A bubbly, happy-go-lucky monkey girl. She finds the silver lining in every cloud, and never gives up. This is largely due to her love of meditation and yoga, which compliment her naturally upbeat and low-stress personality. Setsuko is not the brightest and doesn't always understand human customs, however, and due to being a monkey has no nudity taboo, often making people uncomfortable and getting things wrong. She doesn't let this get her down, though. She encourages others to be upbeat and confident as well - seeing other people happy makes her happy - but is not always the best at this. Often she'll try to say something profound only to get the saying completely wrong.
  • Background: Setsuko was once just an exotic pet, a Japanese Macaque belonging to an elderly Japanese immigrant with no children or grandchildren of his own. Jiji, as Setsuko calls him, was an archaeologist and collector of ancient artifacts. He also had once held ties to the Yakuza, but he had put those delinquent days behind him. One day he discovered a rusted staff of incredible weight, said to belong to Sun Wukong. Legend had that the one who could lift the staff with their two hands would be granted all the power of the Golden Monkey King himself. The old man thought it only a myth, but his old Yakuza buddies believed otherwise. Storming his home, they tied him up and beat him, demanding he reveal the secret of the staff, as none of them could so much as budge it. He insisted that it was just a rusted relic. Setsuko, unwilling to let her Jiji be hurt any more, grabbed the staff and swung it at his captors. In a swirl of golden light, she changed, and stood upon two feet for the first time. Sending the Yakuza scattering away, Setsuko saved Jiji's life. Jiji was proud of her, and while he recovered in the hospital, told her the story of the Monkey King. Proclaiming herself the heir of Wukong, Setsuko decided she would use her powers to become a hero.

I'm uploading an organization sheet (with no sheets for its members):

Foundation for the Future:

Alignment: Villains, superhuman-supremacists, social darwinists.

Goal: Conquering this universe for Absolute Authority.

Backstory: There, somewhere in the multiverse, exists a world ruled by supervillains called Absolute Authority. Having conquered their own world, supervillains of that world decided to conquer other Earths to showcase their might. A task force was created to lay the groundwork for the impending conquest, and it was called "Foundation for the Future". Currently, this organization is gathering recruits from this world under the slogan "supers are the true masters of this world", hiding their true agenda.

Type of Mooks: Watchers, Neo-Organisms, Creatures of Brush, Dragonlings.

Members: The Owl, Professor Rourke, Loki the Damned (not mythological Loki), Son of the Sky and Manticore 4.0. Ah, exactly five of them. Fantastic.

I will post sheets for Mooks and Characters if this organization is approved.

Note: Absolute Authority might be related to Fenrir. Emphasis on might.

Concept: ACPs (Autonomous Civilian Protection)

The longest-standing project of Alex Selby, the ACPs are planned to be autonomous civilian protectors, designed for crowd control, escorting, and emergency mass evacuations.

Although robots, they appear mostly human, thanks to Alex's efforts in lowering the Uncanny Valley effects in the designs as much as possible, however they are still obviously mechanical due to seams in the skin. That being said, they are highly intelligent, and can hold their own in a conversation and work in the field without external assistance.

The ACPs are outfitted with deployable weaponry and gadgets. Such gadgets include jaws of life, emergency blankets, retractable barricade tape, food rations, first aid kits, and even several pairs of collapsible ear defenders so that young children are protected from the sound of gunfire.

In terms of weaponry, a standard ACP is outfitted with deployable tasers and ring airfoil projectiles, the latter of which can be deployed quickly from the forearm, and also have lethal weaponry if the situation calls for it, such as micro machine guns implanted in the wrists as well as a collection of grenades and gases.

Note that an ACP can be easily modified to help in hospitals or homes.

ACPs are constructed in three layers; the endoskeleton, the skin, and the armour. The endoskeleton layer contains both the mechanical functions of the ACP and the stored gadgets and equipment. An ACP can perform limited self-maintenance granted they have the correct tools available for deployment.

The second layer, the skin, is made up of many panels, and is constructed of a silicone-like material. The panels can either be removed entirely or simply hinged or manipulated for quick access to the endoskeleton. The panels can retract in specific areas by either manual command or by the ACP's own will, to expose equipment for deployment.

Finally, the third layer, the armour, is rarely used except in the worst emergencies. If massive loss of life is inevitable, an ACP may make use of a retractable bodysuit that heightens their speed, strength, and durability to superhuman levels. However, do not expect an ACP to stick around in this mode or to use it in anything other than the direst situation, as the power drain is simply too immense at this point in time for continuous use.

Despite it being incredibly ambitious, Alex hopes for ACPs to fit into the population, and when off-duty they use other means to protect the civilians, such as caretaking, work in nurseries, schools and hospitals.

Boom. Note that it may take a while for the ACPs to actually become active, due to the fact that the prototype Ophelia hasn't even entered the programming stage yet. I'm sure that the gradual finding of items or occasional items will speed up the process though.

Also the incredibly sweet thought that Alex spent whole nights programming that tiny detail with the ear defenders.
