I would agree with everything you said there.
MAX POWER KILL JEEEEEEEEWWWWWI third the OP's suggestions.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickDefeat by Modesty is really an element to the real subtrope Intentional Harmless Clothes Slashing which happens a lot like Zorro but isn't Defeat by Modesty as that could be anything. Or actual Defeat by Modesty by something else such a clothes destroying laser beams or even if their clothes get slashed they could just fight on naked.

Sandbox.Implausible Fencing Powers is up for your perusal.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.I've really always thought Deflecting Bullets with a Sword really should be its own trope.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Deflecting/cutting, sure.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here. The sandbox looks good.
YKTTW's now up for Parrying Bullets, Cutting the Beam, and Ludicrously Precise Strike.

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.I agree with making it a supertrope.
The sandbox looks so much better than the main page. The main page sounds like it's trying to talk about three different things at once, goes off topic, and can only really be fixed if you cut all the extraneous stuff.
Bump?
MAX POWER KILL JEEEEEEEEWWWWWThe YKTTW for the new tropes that this TRS pretty much relies on stalled, which is why we haven't made any progress. I tend to have miserable luck with YKTTW for some reason, so if someone else wanted to take those over, that might be for the best.
Also, for the record, I made myself laugh with the "examples" at the bottom of the sandbox page. I totally forgot that I did that.

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.I can try. Real Life will be getting in my way for the next several weeks, but my tvtropes time should pick up after that. My pet obsession has a variety of Implausible Fencing Powers examples to draw from.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Whoops, I just noticed that this is still in limbo. At this point, I'm tempted to just swap out the page with the sandbox and comment out the redlinked proposed tropes until they launch (if they ever do).
What say you, TRS?
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien. The proposed subtropes will likely have more luck in YKTTW if you port over the applicable examples from the original page. They mostly have their descriptions square, but they're unlaunchable without their example sections filled out.
Good idea. Done and done.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.Ludicrously Precise Strike (since renamed to Ludicrous Mêlée Accuracy) has been launched. Parrying Bullets and Cutting the Beam (since renamed Cutting Through Energy) are both at five hats and will launch later today unless someone raises an objection in the meantime.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.Awesome. Sorry I haven't kept up with this.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Parrying Bullets and Cutting Through Energy also launched.
We can swap in the sandbox for Implausible Fencing Powers whenever, but we're going to need to go through and fix wicks and examples when we do.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.Oh sweet, progress.
Cutting Through Energy is supposed to be a subtrope, right? If so, it needs to be in the sandbox.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Ah, right, good point. Cutting Through Energy is what came out of the YKTTW for Cutting the Beam, and Ludicrously Precise Strike similarly became Ludicrous Mêlée Accuracy. I've updated both in Sandbox.Implausible Fencing Powers.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien. The sandbox looks good; I took the exclamation point off Diagonal Cut as none of the other entries were excited. The only further suggestion I'd make would be to alphabetize the subtropes.
Done that.
(Annoyed grunt)What else do we need to do with this one? Move the sandbox to the main page, purge all the examples but the "multiple types" section, and then start working on wicks?
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.
Implausible Fencing Powers is kind of a mess. It's basically a supertrope, but not organized as one — instead it's a mish-mash of specific subtypes. It has seven "common variations", and then eight reasons why swords as seen as better than guns (which doesn't even seem to be part of the trope, so why is it there?).
I propose we revamp the trope description, spin off any subtropes as necessary, and generally start treating it like a supertrope (ie, examples go in subtropes if they fit there specifically).
For the record, the seven variations listed are, basically,
I can write a cleaned-up description, but I wanted to check with folks that they thought it was necessary and what exactly should be included in the new description before I did.
