General Kingdom Hearts Fanfiction Thread

So, here's what I have for companions to the main four.

A transsexual (M to F) Bard who is kind and compassionate person who is willing to help anyone in need. Is always looking for more songs and stories to expand her collection. Also is a bit of a Cloudcluckaacloo Lander.

A shy chemist who suffers from the expatations of his father. He has a good throwing arm for potions and in general fights at long range with pistols, machine pistols and magnums. Expect to see him patching people up when Nick isn't around.

A dark knight who goes against the stereotype for said class. He's honorable (when the situation calls for it) kind, hard working, understanding and all around a great guy. He sadly suffers from discrimination because of his class.

A Paladin who actually lives up to the Knight in Shining Armor trope. Unlike most Paladins, she perfers to be good then lawful, coming off as Chaotic Good. She has a lot of issues with her family and she'd rather not talk about it.

...so, a blatant Cecil expy?

Also, if chickie there "lives up to" Knight in Shining Armor, then I would expect that she's pretty good at finding ways to be both Lawful and Good at the same time. Of course, just because an action might be unlawful by one standard, it may in fact be lawful when phrased differently or by another standard.

That was riveting. That let's me give another reason why the Lawful Stupid Paladin hates our asses.

So, how are you guys going to handle Xehanort?

"Handle" him?

Well, in Brutality, Xemnas is suddenly assassinated right the fuck outta nowhere during a routine meeting. By Roxas. In front of EVERYBODY. Because despite there being empty seats at that point, Xion still wasn't permitted to have one. So Roxas figured he'd just take Xemnas's chair, and hand his down to Xion. Cue fucking. epic. shitstorm as the Org. members that are still loyal to Xemnas (Saix and what's left of the old guard) counterattack Roxas, while Marluxia (yeah, he survived CO in this fic) rallies the neophytes together to join forces with Roxas. Ultimately, the coup d'etat... succeeds perfectly.

And then?

No, I mean the original Xehanort as BOTH of his voice actors have died.

And then... I dunno. I'm not yet sure what happens between that and the end of the fic. Possibly just a timeskip.

...and? What does the immediate lack of a voice actor for either language in the games, have anything to do with a text-based medium like fanfic?

x5 As I am playing through Days right now, I wish this happened in the game.

I'm just saying, I don't know if there's anywhere to go from there. That goes completely Off the Rails.

Well, yeah. KHII doesn't get to happen, because Roxas stays with the Organization, and is powerful enough to defeat Rik-Ansem anyway. DDD definitely doesn't get to happen, which is a good thing. Because by Gundam, I hated that game. Something similar to re:coded might actually still get to happen, though, since the meatspace Sora and Riku don't actually feature in it.

A few more adventures/battles notwithstanding, and some sort of conclusion to Xion's story arc, the fic will basically end some time later with Kairi seeking out Roxas on some Disney world or another, tearfully asking him if she can have her friend back - unaware of what that would mean for Roxas - and Roxas saying: "...I'm feel bad that you miss your friend. I really do. ...But I'm just not that selfless." before walking away.

And for the rest of his days, Roxas would continue to fight. For his own sake, he swung his sword against every enemy that appeared before him. With his comrades at his side.

It's a Good End for Roxas and the surviving members of Organization XIII. Bad End for, basically, everyone else.

Maybe I'm reading too deeply into it, but is it a commentary on why Days had to play out the way it did?

...it might be applicable to such a statement, but that was never, ever my intention.

Honestly, I just wanted to have Roxas's caretaker during the first week be Larxene instead of Axel, and then sit back and watch the fireworks.

That's a perfectly reasonable motivation.

Actually, you inspired me to try a similar idea—a series of short stories where other members act as Axel equivalents for Roxas and Xion. Xemnas!Roxas and Xion are basically the Organization Inquisition, Marluxia!Roxas and Xion are total Starscreams, etc.

If you go down that path, there is one thing I urge you to do. As your senpai in this genre, I advise you against having Roxas and Xion as being too similar to their mentors, even with your nail completely changing their formative experiences.

For instance, even though Roxas was mentored (read: by through Training from Hell) by a Chaotic Evil Psycho for Hire, Roxas is still recognizably himself despite also being a Chaotic Neutral Blood Knight (with occasional shades of Axe-Crazy). Xion, Bare-Fisted Monk training aside, is still mostly Xion. <Beat> Although I confess that she's being played somewhat as the adorable martial arts kohai.

Aye. Canon Roxas and Xion aren't exactly carbon copies of Axel.

Since Xehanort came up, his whole plan in KHA is kinda... complicated.

Mostly because it got derailed in a very significant way.

Basically, Terra managed to wrest control of his body before Terranort split into Ansem So D and Xemnas. Consumed by rage at that point, he stabbed himself with his Keyblade to try and force Xehanort's heart out (kinda like what Xehanort did after fighting Aqua to hold Terra back), but while he does push Xehanort's heart out a) this is what Xehanort wanted anyway, and b) this causes... problems.

The forced separation not only renders Terra a Nobody, but Xehanort's knowledge lingers and becomes muddled with his own memories. He knows he's Terra, but the lack of heart combined with Xehanort's influence results in what is essentially a Nobody with all of Xehanort's intellect combined with Terra's memories of bitterness, rage, failure, loss, etc, etc. I basically took a lot of Xemnas' lines in KH 2 as inspiration since this was planned before 3D.

So Xemnas assumes leadership of the Organization and puts on the guise that he is still Xehanort. From there, canon mostly marches on until the first KHA fic, with the exception that Xemnas has absolutely no intention of planting more heart seeds, leaving Saïx and Xigbar. Also, since Co M never happens, Zexion ends up being second in command, and even Saïx's Xehaborging is gonna face... resistance once Axel catches onto what's going on.

Xemnas still seeks Kingdom Hearts, though not to Xehaborg everybody. His goals are fashioned based on what was presented in KH 2— desires to create a new world, test the heart's limits/seize absolute control over it, etc, etc. Over his ten years as a Nobody, he's hit a downward spiral and grown progressively worse, to the point where he reaches the same levels of ruthlessness as his canon self... only now Aqua's back, and he has to deal with that. :') Also, Ven's inside Sora's Heartless.

Xemnas is honestly the main villain for... most of the Antipode fics up until this point. Act 2, TYB, and Act 3 are essentially a trilogy involving the Organization, though Young Xehanort popped up at the end of last fic and may make another appearance toward the end of this one. Neither he nor Xigbar are gonna be thrilled with the way the plan's going off course, and the 3D arc will basically basically involve them attempting to at least claim Riku.

I'm still trying to figure out what they're gonna do, because they'll likely be missing far more vessels than they had in canon. I just think it's fun to explore a situation where Xehanort's pieces aren't all lined up. In canon, he's got all his little ducks in a row, whereas in Antipode things are more... chaotic. Also, Vanitas-Remnant is gonna be stirrin' up trouble and acting on his own accord. This has been planned since like 2011 and is still so far away. +_+

Ugh, whenever I try to imagine the Keyblade for Simone (The Bard) and I just get a rapier handguard in-place of the usual handguard and I think it looks dumb.

Does he really need a Keyblade to start with? Instead of, I dunno, a trusty guitar?

...but then I guess Fairy Harp would make a good Keyblade for a Bard...
