Playing the very first Zelda game. This NES classic is actually pretty weak after 25 years.
Same thing happened with Ni GHTS Into Dreams. A lot of people who played to as a kid say it's good, but I just can't share those sentiments. Especially when the bosses are cryptic as hell, and even when you do figure out what to do, it's still a pain to try to do it. Oh, did I mention that if you die, you don't start at the boss, but rather at the beginning of the stage? Come on, Sonic Team, even the 2D Sonic games let you start at the bosses if you died to any of them.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."This happens all the time with kids shows for me, and I'm pretty sure anyone who was exposed to media as a child would dislike some of them as they rewatch it grown up.
I just showed the first Indiana Jones movie to a friend who had never seen it, and she did not get it.
Really sad to say this, but...
Nostalgia Critic, even the early stuff, is outmatched by some of his proteges right now. Especially the Chez Apocalypse people.
Hell Hasn't Earned My TearsOcarina of Time. I mean, it was good, but not the mind-blowing epic I was led to believe it was.
That said, it's not just Ocarina of Time that fell down for me - most of the Zelda games were over-rated in my eyes. Only one I really liked from start to finish was Link's Awakening. Fantastic game.
"Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen."Re: Buffy: I recently rewatched Season 2 and realized that a) Spike was always as incompetent as he is in later seasons, and b) he and Dru are emotionally abusive to one another nigh constantly and his respect for her is the kind of 'respect' good ol' boys have for their mama; the pat-you-on-the-head kind.
A True Lady's Quest - A Jojo is You!I Against I is kind of the most acclaimed Bad Brains album, but it just sounds like typical late-80's Alternative Metal to me... However in 1986, most of the famous, similar-sounding alt-metal bands I can think of either didn't have any albums out (Living Colour, Janes Addiction), or just hadn't grown the beard enough for such a comparison to be made (Faith No More). The earlier, straight Hardcore Punk stuff ages better for me - they stand out for having better musicianship than a lot of other hardcore bands, and for HR's uniquely unhinged vocal style of the time. Oh, and I do at least like the I Against I track "Re-Ignition", which has a verse riff that sort of predicts Nu Metal.

Earth is the only planet inhabitable by Nicolas Cage. The original Kingdom Hearts seems pretty dated after playing the amazing sequels. Still a great game, though.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Venom. I can see how they would have influenced early eighties metal, but their stuff just doesn't do it for me. I initially thought that Death was a bit of Seinfeld Is Unfunny as well, but I've started warming up to them a lot recently.
Somehow you know that the time is right.Sonic Adventure 2. Before Colors came out, it was said to be the best 3D Sonic game. So I played it. Didn't see where all teh praise came from, as I felt it was much outclassed by its predecessor, at least as far the main trio, anyway.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Sonic Adventure 1. I feel that the 3-D platformers of the time or even the ones that came out before it still had much better, tighter controls and a far easier to deal with camera. When you had Super Mario 64 two years earlier to look toward (which, though obviously dated now, was phenomenal for a first attempt from the Mario franchise), there isn't as much of an excuse. I can probably excuse it though for it being the first attempt at a 3-D Sonic (Sonic 3-D aside, heh).
What I can't excuse is how its enhanced remake five years later still had loads of issues with the controls and camera. Come on, Sonic Team, you had plenty of time to learn how to fix those issues! What did you do the whole time you were porting it, twiddle with your joysticks?

Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.I never really got Star Trek.
If you want any of my avatars, just Pm me I'd truly appreciate any avatar of a reptile sleeping in a Nice Hat Read Elmer Kelton booksSailor Moon. I hope the updated remake won't take so long to get to the interesting parts.
‽‽‽‽ ^These are interrobangs. Love them. Learn them. Use them.I lost interest in the Japanese Spider-Man show when I found out that, despite paving the way for the Megazord, the robot fights were limited because someone stole the costume for Spider-Man's robot.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatThe very first Magical Girl show I watched and loved is pretty boring to me now that I rewatch it. It doesn't help that this was after watching a few Darker and Edgier magical girl shows.
Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill 1 are mixed cases.
Regarding the former; sure, the graphics aren't too good by present standards and I'm not fond of the gameplay (mainly because "Easy" mode isn't easy; IIRC it was "Normal" difficulty in Japan, which makes a lot more sense). But the voice acting and soundtrack is fantastic, holding up even today, and it's light years beyond what else was available at the time.
Regarding the latter; I think the controls and voice work are shit for the most part, but that's more because it hasn't aged well; there's still an effectively tense atmosphere and story and it has some genuinely scary moments. And hey, without this game, we wouldn't have Silent Hill 2; amazing how far you can come in two years.
A Tale Of Two Cities. This book that is near-universally praised as a classic everyone should read, is surprisingly boring. Dickens, there's a thing called pacing. Have you heard of it?
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Another Dickens one: Oliver Twist. I was fine right up until he introduced Fagin and referred to him as 'the Jew' every other sentence.
Wordy classic novels in general.
ok boomerLord of the Rings. Yes, it's a timeless classic of English literature. It's also less interesting than cold toast.
Halo, the last acts were padding, tried Halo 2 & 3 it on a friend's xbox360 and..meh...
This from the girl who has tons of Unreal and Quake levels.
Call of Duty is getting that way because of all the Follow the Leader. Where are the mid-term games?
There are other colors besides brown!
Computer-Generated Images are getting this way for me. It's just not impressive anymore.

All night at the computer, cuz people ain't that great. I keep to myself so I won't be a case on The First 48There's a good chunk of classic rock I don't care for. The Beatles, Rush, BTO, Queen, yatta yatta yatta. I always thought that the bands that came after them were much better than the progenitors and what they accomplished.
Someone wake me from this nightmare, I've become my darkest fear...
I rewatched the Buffy series when I realize how corny this series can be. Don't get me wrong, it is a good series with great characters but when you look at it now it seems corny and very cliched. The same can be said about Scream although it is corny intentionally.
