Discussion Thread! RP Thread!

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING THAT CAN GO WRONG WITH THIS okay ground rules.

  1. This is an RP based on the Nasuverse.
  2. This is a comedic RP based on the metafictional, lighthearted crossover works of the Nasuverse; Carnival Phantasm and All Around TYPE-MOON.
  3. This is a comedic RP based on the metafictional, lighthearted crossover works of the Nasuverse; Carnival Phantasm and All Around TYPE-MOON.

So. Basically, anything goes. You guys get to make character claims here, and if we gather enough interest, I'll start the RP. It'll be a very sandboxy thing, with almost everything being player-generated: basically, you get to make your own mini-arcs and have fun with random hijinks in the pocket dimension of Ahnenerbe. That is to say, I'll be doing very, very little as a GM. My experience of the Nasuverse is limited to Carnival Phantasm, Fate Zero and the Fate route. I might not even have a character myself. Still, I'll be around, if only to oversee things.

More rules, and then a profile template.

  • Standard RP ettiquette applies everywhere. No godmodding. No rudeness. No drama. Yup.
  • Please, try to make things funny. Dull writing just spoils it.
  • Flanderisation is the entire point of this RP. Play everything for comedy. Make everything fail ludicrously at the last moment. If your character is super grimdark in canon, make it so that they're super funny instead. No blood (except for hotness-induced nosebleeds/sociopathic beatings for hilarity), no death (save the extremely cheap variety), no rape (just no.) The Nasuverse is incredibly dark in places. Our mission is to make it hilarious.
  • That being said, Flanderisation can be taken a notch too far. While deviation from canon is almost expected, there's nothing stopping a serious/heartwarming/awesome moment or two. To that extent, all characters must still be recognisable in their comedy. No dull Taigas, no inexplicably genki Gilles de Rais, no yandere Rins. Basically, play everyone in character and then exaggerate/play straight their characterisations to create lulz.
  • Expect no power levels. Gilgamesh can and will be defeated mid Gate-Of-Babylon by a perfectly timed custard pie thrown by that damn Neko-Arc thing. While fights can be arranged (for some ludicrous/awesome/silly reason), I would prefer if we avoided Cerebus Syndrome. Injuries will never last, death even less so. Everything for comedy. I'm all for Awesome Moments and heart-pounding fights (see that one Volleyball Match of Destiny), just don't make it too dark. Also, don't whine about 'oh noes my character can totes defeat your character look at the wiki', because that's half of the fandom anyway. Our aim is to have fun, and fun is half mockery and half humiliation. Not really. Expect defeat, and laugh it off with the rest of us.
  • If for some reason you find yourselves wanting to script events with your fellow players, do so in the Discussion Thread. Even better, improvise. Randomness is always good. Just as long as it isn't too jarring an interjection. Also, take care not to ruin other people's predetermined scenes without permission.
  • There is no canon. Or at least very little of it. While the rules about character still apply, we're trying to make things funny both in themselves and in the context of the Nasuverse. So bend those rules.
  • Mini-arcs can be run by any player, as long as things are worked out in discussion. Tournament Arc? Do it! Beach Episode? Do it! Beach Episode Tournament Arc? ...Well, I'm not going to stop you.
  • The generally established locations of the Nasuverse are interpersed at random and flexible intervals throughout the RP world. Ahnenerbe is the focal point, and it's somewhere in between dimensions - that is, it exists in every Nasuverse continuity at the same time. As for locations, you guys get to use them however you like, or even mix them around a little. Distance is no object when you have a multiversal inn.
  • NO SCRIPT FORMAT. 'Nuff said.

Profile time!

  • Name: Self-explanatory.
  • Appearance: Link to image.
  • Wiki Profile: Link to TYPE-MOON wiki article, because we all know the characters anyway, right?
  • Special Caveats: Here you put the flanderised personality, the changes in powers, the character version (feel free to combine continuities) - basically, anything different from canon, put it here.

I don't have a character. Yet. And with that...

It's STARTING! grin

Accepted! Because confidence, and I've seen you play her before.

Everyone else, do not expect to get away with such laconity I kid. Honestly, though, a brief description of your character's projected personality would be nice. tongue

So this includes Extra, CANAAN and DD?

Extra - yes, but as a virtual world. Doesn't stop the characters from being summoned into Ahnenerbe through laptops. Blame Rin. tongue

Canaan - yes, but probably as a Muggle thing. Like 'woah, Mages exist! I didn't realise that through all the guns!' Still, nothing stopping you from claiming someone from there.

DDD - yes. No knowledge about it as an actual series, but yes.

Like I said, ALL THE NASUVERSE

DDD is interesting, but I haven't read beyond chapter 1 since it's not translated in English.

I'm thinking of using the cab driver from CANAAN for high tension.

Hmm. Can't say I know that guy, but go for it if you want. Don't forget Rule of Funny.

Just popping in to say that I am perfectly fine with having multiple NPC characters to throw around for comedic purposes (killing Lancer), or with people having multiple characters. Just don't hog all the popular ones. tongue

RainehDaze Figure of Hourai from Scotland (Ten years in the joint) Relationship Status: Serial head-patter
Figure of Hourai
#8: Jun 15th 2013 at 4:58:04 AM

  • Name: Medea/Caster
  • Appearance: Let's go with what she looks like under the robes.
  • Wiki Profile: Caster!
  • Special Caveats: When she's not acting lovestruck, she's probably making Saber figurines. Very much a Stalker with a Crush. Definitely gets a lot more out of making items.

  • Name: Gilgamesh
  • Appearance: BOW, MONGRELS.
  • Wiki Profile: Here.
  • Special Caveats: Aside from having built a motorbike, and owning a water park (as in Hollow Ataraxia), he's not that changed from normal. That is, he'll randomly show up to mess with people because he's bored, and try and take prizes etc. The lack of an actual Grail War makes this more jerkish and less excessively homicidal.
Is capable of being nice. Sometimes.

I'm putting claims on either Arcueid or Kanata from DDD.

  • Name: Kanata Ishizue
  • Appearance: The only picture we have of her so far.
  • Wiki Profile: Wheee
  • Special Caveats*: Kanata likes to think of herself as a hero of justice, often showing up out of nowhere to "assist" those in need. Unfortunately, she fails to grasp that she's doing more harm than good, as her methods of heroism typically end in massive property damage, traumatized bystanders, and at least one body (probably Lancer). She tends to be extremely petty when using her powers, unabashedly unashamed of abusing them for the littlest of things. Because of her exploits as a "walking disaster area", Kanata is perpetually poor and homeless, and will typically take to bumming food and a place to stay, often without so much as an apology. She eats a lot under the pretense of providing energy for her bodily enhancement powers, but this is an outright lie, since her body will always be exactly what she wants it to be. If you can get past her disruptive behavior though, she's a fun-loving gal at heart who just wants to have a good time.

Accepted wait. Can you direct me to her first appearance in canon or give me some marker as to her official personality? What do we know of her so far? I'm wary of accepting what may basically be a self-insert/OC. Sorry to spring this on you, I just need to know is all.

Basically what I linked you to on the wiki is what we know about her so far. We've had passing references to her from her brother, who is the MC of DDD, and a fight scene in volume two in which she kicks apart planets Kamen Rider-style. I can try to find the scene translated, but since DDD is a new entry to the Nasuverse and one with translation issues at that, we probably won't be getting a whole lot of info on Kanata for a while. Most of what we know about her is what I said. Wherever she goes, destruction follows. So I sort of imagined her as a Vash the Stampede-kinda gal. I didn't think it'd be a problem since wackiness and Flanderization is the point of CP.

Anyway, I'll get to work on finding that scene translated. If you still don't want to accept her, I can just use Arc.

Well, if it helps, I found this concerning the side manga written about her, Sora no Soto:

A story featuring featuring “Ookumaneko Mokumoku” -until then just a side character- and a well-known little sister: “Ishizue Kanata”. Shunji Enomoto drew a short manga based on its events.

Across the story we can see a Kanata with the urge to kill some time (and other things), making her way out of her chamber (more like a prison) with the help of the docile Origa Vice-president. Then, Kanata resolves going to a room nobody has stepped in for a long time. That room was located in her own ward; “Ward D” and its number was: “The Room No.404″, however, as this room was a mystery to even those patients (monsters) of Ward D and even though what lied inside resulted very attractive to pry into, no one tried doing it before, after all, the Hospital files didn’t even consider an active room anymore.

Before she destroys the iron door intruding in her way, a dim, puzzling voice spoke a few words, resembling a warning to her:

“Don’t come in. Don’t come in. You cannot withstand my power. If you come in you’ll regret it.” “Cherish life, don’t enter my world.”

…this of course was the voice of Mokumoku, a 30 years old NEET who hid an unimaginable power.

So basically here's what we know about her from the Sora no Soto manga as well as her appearances in DDD: She's the younger sister of the protagonist who, after developing Agonist Disorder, sorta freaked out and killed their parents and ate his arm. After that, she was sent to the Origa facility, a hospital/containment ward for people with Agonist Disorder. She seems to be, like I said, kind of a carefree goofball who likes a challenge and has an unfortunate tendency of being overly violent due to overestimating her opponents. The homeless part I kinda pulled out of my ass, but it makes sense since she obviously wouldn't be living in the Origa facility anymore after she demolished it. As for the hero of justice bit... It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time. Just a way for her to goof around and find strong people to fight, really.

I would provide a link to the Sora no Soto manga, but it isn't translated. Anyway, if this still isn't enough, I'm fine using Arc, I just thought I'd try and see if I could give you a satisfactory amount of info on her character.
