Discuss TV Tropes itself, such as observations you've made about the site/forum/wiki.
NOTE: Keep it civil; try not to get into any Flame Bait-y territory, per the forum rules (in particular, drama importation and popcorn posting are not allowed, and this thread is for discussion about the site and not the users). In addition, while discussing the Edit Banned thread is not prohibited on its own, discussing and/or alluding to specific cases is not permitted.
One thing I've noticed is that for all how the page for They Might Be Giants claims them to be the unofficial official band of this wiki, there's relatively few people on this site who seem to ever reference them.

...Funny, I thought that was more because of the "No Negativity" policy.
Not a substitute for a formal medical consultation. One thing I have noticed because of that is some people will play Devil's Advocate in what they say to bring legitimate flaws in the work into focus, which is often not a bad thing because it uncovers what might otherwise have been an Elephant In The Livingroom

"Did you expect somebody else?"So you may or may not know about the podcast The F Plus, where they read terrible things on the internet (with enthusiasm). Here they are reading a collection of weird things that have been posted in this site's Writer's Block section.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.As long as you post at least once a day, people won't forget you exist.
That's not true. There are plenty of tropers who no longer post and are still remembered.
And some who post all the time that everyone's forgotten?
'All he needs is for somebody to throw handgrenades at him for the rest of his life...'Sorry, have we met?
'All he needs is for somebody to throw handgrenades at him for the rest of his life...'Like Chagen.

Anyhow, this gravedancing is pointless.

It is sometimes an appropriate response to reality to go insane.I do enjoy them, from time to time, cause it's a thriller.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.This. It's best to not worry about who Chagen was.
Thriller nights! And no one's gonna save ya from the beast about to strike!
"Did you expect somebody else?"You're fighting for your life inside a killer!
Thriller tonight, yeah.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. So under some entries, especially in YMMV, about Awesome Moment, HSQ, Nightmare Fuel, Genius Bonus, etc:
"Too many to list."
Oh, fuck you.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Yeah, that is a classical ZCE entry. Worth noting also that there aren never "too many examples" for their listing not to be worthy - one, not all examples will actually be added, and two, a page can be split to accomodate overly long example lists.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanQuite often that much irritates me, especially on things like Genius Bonus where it comes off as gushing - I'll admit in some works like Hamlet pages like Alternate Character Interpretation need a full on page, but you shouldn't need to do it for most and it should be said as something less gushy like "Plenty of ideas have been given over the years - See Here for the full list"
"Did you expect somebody else?"I remember Chagen. He got fired for harassing female posters about unrequited romance I believe?
And one observation I've noticed is there is no YTTKW Graveyard, or Trope Graveyard, or something along the lines that one can read about to see what once was here, was deleted or cycled out for something else.
Also quite a lot of people on here hate Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory, but everyone I know in real life think he's adorable. Do people go on the internet to hate him? He doesn't belong in the Complete Monster category.
Coverage on Lindsay Lohan's drug activities doesn't belong on the TF 2 page, nor does Kim Kardashian's wedding plans.
This place is content with Mc Donalds, I like that. This place gives budding writers a lot of good ideas, but I haven't seen any new books that included TV Tropes in their Thank You sections. Same with game developers and animators.
I remember some person trying to write trope articles about bees. Not like, animated bees or book bees, like actual bees. He got banned I think.
Warning: This poster is known to the state of California to cause cancer. Cancer may not be available in your country.I have, actually. Though I don't refer to TV Tropes by name; I say "my friends." :)
Flora is the most beautiful member of the Winx Club. :)Would Eddie take offense to somebody including the site in their Thank You section or is it not one of those kinds of sites? (I remember sites that dislike being credited something or another)
Warning: This poster is known to the state of California to cause cancer. Cancer may not be available in your country. He was also banned for threatening suicide for attention and being a paedophile that wouldn't shut up about his diaper fetsish, I think.
I think that might be more of an issue with Creative Commons than Fast Eddie, though, so you may want to contact then. Then again, I'm not an expert on all this legal crap.
MY SOUL IS DARK BUT MY HAIR IS COLORFUL — Brahian Pokémon AlchemistThere would be no problem if someone wanted to include the site in their "thank you"'s.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.
One thing I've noticed is that people here aren't as hipster-y as other similar sites. I'm a commenter on other sites with a similar focus and it seems everyone in their comments always falls all over themselves to show how they don't like X popular thing.
