TLP Crash Rescue - Fixing prematurely launched TLPs and pages

Go To

Prematurely launched pages and pages that weren't fully fleshed out at the point of launching, are a big problem. Since these usually share several problems at once, this thread is aimed at re-running them through the TLP for fixing - the usual fix - or cutting them if they are too bad.

Problems this thread deals with include bad names, not enough/bad examples, unclear description, etc.

For the interested, here's a list of recently created pages. Launches

Note: Please do not request a mod to unlaunch drafts that don't have any issues besides lacking a launch notice/24hr launch notice. While 24hr launch notices are mandatory, there are a few exceptions to the rule. If you see a draft's sponsor launch a TLP without an announcement, it's best to remind them of our TLP Guidelines first. If they continue to repeatedly launch drafts without a launch notice, you can report them on Ask The Tropers or the TLP Community Issues thread.

Let's Have a Cèilidh has barely any examples, suffers Trope Namer Syndrome (apparently it's a pun on a Scissor Sisters' work), and has a non-English word in the name in the English side of the wiki (which I don't think is normally a problem, but it's Scottish and not pronounced anything like it looks to an English speaker).

It had no hats.

Where Is Your God Now has only one example and one inbound wick (for the same example, from the work's page).

This isn't exactly a mislaunch, but I wonder if Index of Apologies would sound better as One Sorry Index (which was suggested late in the discussion).

[up]The current name is better as it doesn't imply it's an index of Pathetic Tropes or something (the meanings of sorry have to do with expressing sorrow but also inspiring pity).

Oratorio is exampleless, and I am not sure if it's meant to be a trope or an Useful Note.

This isn't new (the page dates back to 2011), but Rule Breaker... doesn't seem to need to exist. Can we cutlist it?

Symbolic Mutilation is from 2012 but is a stub and just has a lot of issues (i.e. no index, two wicks, poor description, etc.). It was brought up in Symbolism ykttw thread.

A new page, Good Luck Charm. It needs some cleaning.

Rule Breaker: Cut and re-YKTTW if you like. Symbolic Mutilation should be re-run through YKTTW.

Yes, I believe Cursed With Suck's examples go on Blessed with Suck. And I think creating a "trope" article without any description whatsoever should be considered a punishable offense of some kind.

[up][up] To Whom This Wont Concern is a nascent trope still in YKTTW about making open letters when it's unlikely the person they're addressed to will ever find out about them (i.e. one posted in a blog that has few readers). OP's new and not clear on the procedures.

As for the other, the examples could easily be divided between Blessed with Suck and Cursed with Awesome.

Titanium Peashooter got launched with two hats and a LOT of questions as to its tropability.

It's a remake of a YKTTW that got shot down by a mod and none of the concerns (that we needn't have a trope for every single possible combination of speed/defense/offensive power, and by making more we devalue/redefine the existent ones).

Same person launched Paper Ram. Which has all the same problems, except it had zero hats, the launcher wasn't the sponsor, and there was ongoing discussion about the name.

OK, I feel now that that person needs some disciplinary action. Otherwise, ask for an unlaunch.

Dumb question I'm fairly certain I've asked before, where do I ask for an unlaunch?

Yeah, I think Eddie made it so any mod can unlaunch a YKTTW.

Alright, I requested mod action on both. How do I know if any action has been taken or not?

Any reason not to cutlist them both?
