Would we be playing characters from the show (in which case, what season?) or OCs from that universe?

Trump delenda estYeah, I'd need tricksterson's questions answered before anything else...
It was a difficult delivery, now it's growing up mean and strong.Both. We could take characters from the show, if you wanted to play as Buffy for example (that's if you wanted to) then have at it. I'd be all for introducing original characters as well, I had one or two in mind that I think I'll play as.
With vampires being known to the outside world in seasons 8 and 9 that was where I was thinking about setting the story. That would really open up the field as to who might be behind what happens, as well as what motivations they might have. Are they trying to remove threats by manipulating vampires and Slayers. Could the motivation be to try and trigger a war? Is it plain old fashioned revenge against those who are sired and slain? What? That will be part of the mystery.
I don't recall such a story ever being used in the Buffyverse before, so I thought maybe it would be worth trying to get into how vampires (particularly the more mercenary ones like Spike) as well as the motivations and morals behind what happens.

Currently reading up My Rule Fu Is Stronger than Yours- Basically, a complicated, Heel–Face Revolving Door character that had gotten involved in the earlier season involving Adam. He used to be a small time villain, nobody really memorable. Basically, just a wannabe jock who tried using black magic to bump off his competition for "the ladies". Only thing memorable about him was the confrontation, which as Buffy remembers, "Turned into Monty Python really quickly." He ends up rebuilt and turned into a minion of Adam, well, until his boss bit the dust. After surviving what should've been death during the battle, he has basically spent the majority of his time fluctuating between sides.
- As for why he's a wannabe, he used to be a big time nerd, until he got tired of the bullying and actually became quite fit and capable, but wasn't accepted anyway. One reason he got rebuilt was because the magic he used was actually more difficult than one would think.
- A plot line about, basically, someone most people would think would most likely be the new Big Bad. Its a Red Herring.
Like that demon that's popped up in the comics? Interesting. I was thinking of using a Red Herring myself. I'll get a bit of time today and I'll put up a character sheet.
Currently reading up My Rule Fu Is Stronger than YoursOkay, for those interested we'll just do a basic character sheet. Name, short background and list of tropes that apply to them. I'll do up one to demonstrate.
Jacob Sutherland
After a one night stand Jacob was turned into a vampire, one of the last to be before the Seed of Wonder was destroyed. He stays with the woman who turned him; Carrie Waters, while he struggles with the fear some harbor for the vampire threat as well as the need to feed on blood and the demon within driving him to evil.
- Actor Allusion: His last name is after Kristen Sutherland (Joyce) and Donald Sutherland (Merick in the movie.)
- Adorkable: Carrie's attraction to him.
- All Girls Want Bad Boys: As a human Jacob found this, as a vampire he fights the impulse to be one.
- Blessed with Suck: Doubly so, as a vampire Jacob doesn't want to be evil but increasingly feels he has no choice.
- Break the Cutie: Shunned as human and feared as a vampire, while still shunned by vamp fans.
- Burger Fool: Worked at Pizza Hut before being turned.
- Cool Loser
- Death Seeker: Jacob considers death a blessing, but thinks throwing his life away would be be an affront to The Powers That Be.
- Driven to Villainy
- Evil Me Scares Me
- Heaven Seeker: Why he doesn't carry out his Death Seeker wishes.
- Incompatible Orientation: Carries tries to avert this trope, but Jacob is angry at what she did to him and doesn't want to be involved with a vampire.
- Nice Guy: Before being turned.
- Oblivious to Love: Blind to the affections of the few women interested in him.
- She Is Not My Girlfriend: Re: Carrie, who wants otherwise while trying to guide him through life as a vampire.

I thought of what might be a good storyline for Buffy for those who might be interested.
Someone has a Hit List, a number of people they want dead. However they're not doing it alone. Instead the victims are being set up for vampire attacks. When they become a vampire themselves, the Slayer does the killer's work for them. Who is this person? Why do they want these people dead? And how might Buffy and her friends track them down?
If there's interest I'll detail how to write up a character sheet.
