The RP

No name is known to the humans of this island. This is because no human knows of this island. It is a land inhabited by pokémon with only one law - No contact with humans. Fighting - it's just a part of everyday life for them, it is natural to a pokémon, and they fight over whatever they can. But the fights are growing more common and it is now verging on all-out war between the two tribes that have formed. On one side, the aggressors are attacking for no known reason. On the other, they are simply defending their home. And the aggressors in this battle are winning.

In desparation, they play their trump card and break the rule of their society that has stood for thousands of years. They call on the humans to help them, but as they will soon discover, humans who set foot on the island become pokémon themselves...

This RP is a mostly inspired by the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, in that you play as characters who are humans transformed into Pokémon as they are brought into their world. Ostensibly, the rest of the setting outside of the pokémon island is that place we all live in, with the only difference being the nonexistance of the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon subseries

i.e. the rest of the series is still there

Well, I'm interested. Time to hit the personality tests.

So, I'm interested in this, but I have to tell you, I've never played PMD, hell, the last Pokemon I played was Diamond like half a decade ago. So I don't know how much has changed since then, but I've got a working knowledge of the first 151-ish pokemon and the general lore, a good enough grasp of the next 300 or so, and I don't know anything after that, but I can probably Google any of those that pop up. Is this okay, or am I SOL?

And then I've got a question. Do our people evolve in this thing, or are they stuck where they are? Any you said first-stage, so did you mean like the first pokemon in the cycle, like basic pokemon, or did you mean Stage One pokemon, like the dudes who've evolved once? Anyway, if we're eventually evolving, I've narrowed down my choices to (probably) Machop, Aron, Phanpy, Abra, or their Stage One variations depending on what the answer is, because while they aren't my favorite pokedudes, they at least evolve into my favorite pokedudes. I'm inclined to believe we evolve, since this is Pokemon, after all, but I'm not sure if PMD does something different. So if not, I've got a few runners-up, like maybe Mr. Mime or one that I forgot about.

Well, in the PMD games, you are able to evolve, but there's usually some cosmic force negating your evolution until you save the world or something. Is there something like that here?

So in the games, you can evolve... but you can't?

You can't evolve at first, but then you can evolve after you beat the game... Or at least the Disc-One Final Dungeon.

@Nman Yeah, me too. I have no prior knowledge after Pokemon diamond, am I still free to participate? But I was a fangirl of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, so I'm so excited. I'm new to R Ping too, heard a FRIEND was posting and R Ping here.

So right now, can I post my characters? I'll make one on the spot. Time to put my writing skills to a test~

You're both fine. This should be a pretty accessible RP just because I know a lot about the mons but I haven't actually played any of the main series (but a share of the sidegames, competitive battling and a worrying amount of time checking mon backgrounds on Bulbapedia I do have under my belt), even if not, for anyone completely new to Pokémon, my character I will put up later is basically Mr. Exposition for anyone who feels like getting their foot in the door.

Yes, you can and I probably won't do the cosmic-dampener thing because it's more like an arbitrary and damaging limitation from a writing sense of perspective, like when people insist on keeping the four-move limit for an RP.

I meant it as in Basic/Baby (delete as appropriate) or whatever you feel like calling their first form.

Name: Ellissie De lite or Elsie

Age: 18

Gender: ♂ or ♀? Female, duh. >:3

Pokémon: Skitty

Human Appearance: 5'4, Brunette hair up to her shoulder and small hazel eyes. Wears a bell choker on her neck, dark green sweater, flowy white skirt and ballet flats

Pokémon Appearance: Just an ordinary cute chinky eyed skitty with a bell collar~

Skills: Charm- people can't resist how cute and moe she is and she knows it. Suckerpunch- attacks people when they least expects it. Captivate- by using her moeness, she makes guys (and girls) putty at her hands—or paws. Dig— she just likes to dig up dirt on everything, that's all.

Edit: Yeah, skills. She's completely useless aside from knowing random stuff, but boy can she cook. She loves making pot dishes, baking cakes and pastries too. Can differentiate different types of berries and herbs for medicine.

Personality: She was always used to being alone, so when she started having friends, she valued them one bit. Elsie can be clingy at times because she likes showering people attention since she didn't felt loved before. Went to the island with Aidan and Tori since her friends forced her to come yet scared to leave her parents and grandparents there.

History: Elsie was always bullied when she was young since she always attracted attention, so she never really talked to people. Until she met Tori, Aidan's twin sister, and then met Tori's other friends until she had lots. Loves Tori to bits since she was her first bestfriend in High school and up till college. Likes Aidan and acts really caring and somewhat clingy around him.

Name: Tori Gerfunkle

Age: 18

Gender: ♂ or ♀? Female

Pokémon: Vulpix

Human Appearance: 5'2, a voluptious teenager and gets called a kid a lot since she has a short stature. But she IS of legal age. Just look at her boobs and butt. Long reddish brown hair with dark blue eyes, it put her "Gerfunkle" surname to shame. (Gerfunkle can also mean a teenager with a bad fashion sense. Loves wearing dresses, skirts and other "cool" clothes that isn't that mainstream. Projects an aura of...being a big sister. Always wears long sleeves and shirts to hide her "fat" arms yet isn't afraid to show her legs.

Pokémon Appearance: A Vulpix with a ribbon choker.

Personality: Tries to keep up a facade that's she's tough and nice to other people despite seething inside. Elsie's moeness provoked her caring nature since she doesn't have pets at home...unless if you count her animal of a brother, Aidan. Tries to pursuade Elsie to like somebody else. Can be domineering and mean to other people except Elsie.

Skills: Flamethrower- her harsh words, it BURNS. Quick attack- Likes to hit people fast and swift when annoyed. Rest- Can be so lazy. Growl- Can be scary at times

Edit: She can do her own style of "martial arts" as a human, so she can fight and protect those around her with her bravery. Can persuade people to do her bidding with her intimidating attitude. Is great at knocking sense to people when they get panicked. Loves doing menial chores.

History: Befriended Elsie by giving a bell choker in High School while she was selling fashion accessories. Awakened Elsie's inner cuteness to other people and made her realize the world is not that harsh despite being negative herself. An average student that excells in the arts.

Alright, here's a signup. I might have stolen the name and occupation from a character I never really got to use, but the rest is totally different and fresh off the presses.

• Name: Lars Stryker
• Age: 24
• Gender: ♂
• Pokémon: Machop
• Human Appearance: While on the job, he'd look like this, but he doesn't have the ax with him outside of work. It's not like he's some sociopath going around with it all the time.
• Pokémon Appearance: He looks like every other Machop, but he's got the flannel shirt, the flannel cap, the blue jeans, and the yellow suspenders that have all been magically fitted the tiny frame of a Machop.
• Skills: He knows how to operate logging equipment, if he somehow ever finds an ax on the island he'd know how to swing it like nobody's business*
  though considering how tall a Machop is, it means the ax will be taller than he is
  , he's got experience walking through rivers and forests, isn't afraid of spiders and is not as frightened by bears, wolves or foxes as others would be.
• Personality: Lars lives in the present, and is usually rather upbeat, with a generally nice personality with some rough edges. He's not really a leader type, and also not prone to blindly following others. While not a heavy drinker, it's also not unknown for him to sometimes start the songs at the bar after work, especially when he tries to get the attention of the ladies.
• History: He grew up in Montana, and became an ax man part-time during and full-time after high school. He never got into major trouble as a kid, only had a passing interest in the first two generations of pokemon gameboy games before the fad blew over in his small town, to the point that he barely remembers most of their names, and doesn't know anything about "types" and their weaknesses unless it's something obvious he can figure out with common sense, like water extinguishing fire. he was originally going to go off to join the air force because he wanted to be a pilot, but when his dad died in a mine collapse *
  mom was long dead at this point
  , he stayed home to support his younger sister and brother, but after they graduated and moved on, he just stuck around at his current job since he'd grown used to it.

@Nman Woah. A handydandy Machop. It would be scary if he would swing the axe around with fighting off other Pokemons. Or cool.

@Plumbum Is using weapons allowed by the way? I thought skills are Pokemon moves...my bad. :x

@Yin - If you find 'em, use 'em! As for skills - yeah, that's more what your character can do. The four-move limit does not apply in this RP, so you really don't need to list moves.

Gender: ♂ or ♀? Male

Pokémon: Cubone

Human Appearance: 5'3, an inch taller than his sister. Has dark blue wavy hair and eye bags around his eyes from using too much internet and video games. Wears frameless glasses. Likes wearing scarves since Elsie commented he looks "cute" with his clothes. Short and skinny, he looks like a kid yet isn't. Those deep blue eyes attracts people. Before he met Elsie, he never really cared about his appearance and fit the Gerfunkle name perfectly.

Pokémon Appearance: A Cubone with glasses and long brown scarf.

Personality: Very introverted, loves to read books. Loves trying to piss Elsie off yet it doesn't work on her much and she just GIGGLES. Snarky and a smartass. He's Tsundere like his sister. Had his heart broken and bullied before so he keeps his distance to everyone. Except, of course, Elsie, which he talks to sometimes when he reads. A pervert? Yeah, he loves taking things wrongly. Purposefully ignores her to get her to cling to her more.

Skills: Being the second-in-command of the three and helps the group in all ways he can. A walking encyclopedia, he knows everything. Can't cook to save his life, or rather, endangers life.

History: Tori's older brother, he always maintained distance to everyone except his sister and mom, as much as he hates to admit it. His dad is too strict to make him go outside to play and socialize so he buried himself in books. Plus he is jealous since her sister gets more freedom than him. Is closer to females as a result of a lack of a loving father. A stoic woobie sometimes. Talks to people yet maintains their distance.

I said I was making a character to be a guide/Mr. Exposition, so here he is!

• Name: Phillip Easley (Prefers Phil)
• Age: 19
• Gender: ♂
• Pokémon: Scyther
• Human Appearance: Being 6'3" he would tower over most! He has dark blond hair and blue eyes that always sit behind a pair of glasses.
• Pokémon Appearance: He's a Scyther. Notably though, his glasses still fit his face.
• Skills: As a nerd - and a competitive pokémon battler he knows all the weakpoints, the stat spreads, the types, everything. He can also comfortably serve as Mr. Exposition for this reason. He also makes pretty good paper planes and can operate a geared motorcycle.
• Personality: Phil tries his best to be helpful and friendly, but when push comes to shove, he is a bit of a coward. Also rather unfortunately for becoming a Flying-type, he is deathly afraid of heights.
• History: Phil lives a normal life, in the rather dreary south of England. Yes, Portsmouth is truly the site of adventure! Well, it's not. In his boredom, he picked up videogames as a method for entertaining himself, and he became a nerd quicker than you can say 'Pokémon'. Recently, yearning for the days in which he used to play an N64, he's picked the Pokémon series back up, through a competitive battling application, which has granted him a greatly useful knowledge of pokémon in general

@Plumbum: Just the three. =_= I won't post more. If you don't want to keep the trio, I'll just keep my lovable Aidan and Elsie as my character. I'll prolly put them in a fanfic instead on my fb account for my friends to read. I can't decide whether to put Elsie and Tori as a partner or Elsie and Aidan though... Aidan and Tori are twins. A little question, what about certain Pokémon who don't evolve, like Farfecth'd, Ditto, Dunsparce and others, can we use them?

History: Elsie was always bullied when she was young since she always attracted attention by being so moe, so she never really talked to people. So she comes across as Kuudere at times. Until she met her first bestfriend in High school and then met her other friends until she had lots.
