Our Next Feature Presentation: The Stuff (10/12)

Join Us Saturday, October 12th @ ~8:00PM (US/EDT) Here: http://cytu.be/r/TroperCoven

For the uninitiated... A contingent of tropers (mostly from across America) holds regular get-togethers over the Interwebs on this site called Synchtube which lets individuals, such as ourselves, open and join in text-based chatrooms within typical web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, et. al.) that allow the chat participants to view YouTube videos in synchronization with everyone else present (without even needing to set up an account)... and we've decided to use said chatrooms to play cheeseball webvideos and feature-length movies found in the public domain which stretch all the way from letters B to Z, which everyone subsequently riffs on a la MST3K.

For over EIGHT years, everybody who gets involved mostly finds good enjoymentnote  in calling out tropes that are recognized in the videos and stories and coming up with jokes to fling back at whatever's happening on the screen, many of which turn into various in-jokes and running gags (a Coven Glossary is kept and maintained for everyone's help and convenience HERE) to repeat in the chat.

We're always looking for new ways to better coordinate and expand our activities and are more than happy to welcome newcomers interested in joining our gatherings.

Alright, so tonight we're rolling out sci-fi fare offered up by Charles Band (David DeCoteau's sensei) and his Full Moon Productions company, which prides itself on puppetry and practical effects work (just like in Dolls).

It's Mandroid.

I'm going camping Monday for about a week, so head's up I'm not gonna be around then.

[up]Sounds like fun. Whereabouts will you be camping?

Until then, though, we got Nickelodeon Guts and the beginning of the end of Bad Influence ready to get us in the mood.

Then, at the top of the coming hour, we brace ourselves for stupid science fiction with inherently silly titles in Mandroid!

Afraid I won't be here tonight; I have a thing at six. Truth be told, I shouldn't go to that, either; I've had these two fucking papers waiting for me to turn them in the whole damn semester, and I still haven't fucking started them yet.

i care but i'm restless, i'm here but i'm really gone, i'm wrong and i'm sorry, baby

Dude, get thee to a library! Now! That's pretty much exactly how I ended up with a semester of involuntary R&R last year.

[up]Back in my day, nobody ever did any work on term papers until the night before they were due, and the professors ALWAYS knew that's how a lot of students routinely did their work. They'd hand out details on an assignment and say things like, "This is due on the 31st... Which means you don't have to write it until the 30th [Class erupts in laughter]." Now, I'd hate to ever condone that behavior... But it always worked for me.

Anyway, we'll be starting our weekly episode of Lexx now. A bit early, I know, but we'll have all hour!

And then, at the top of the coming hour, we start the unparalleled coven classic— the one and only Starcrash.

Is it not working for anyone else?

To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."

The acting in tonight's feature presentation is going to be UNFORGETTABLE.

I don't even know why the film distributors simply used that 47-second clip to promote the title in lieu of the actual trailer (below).

Submitted for your approval, I give you... Sorority House Massacre 2

[up]We'll have to have this one ready for you when you make your return.

Just heard about this one, myself. As difficult as it would be for someone like myself to deny, it's NOT the soccer premise that's drawing me to this... It's the fact that Billy Drago is cast in this as an evil dog catcher...

Alright, we'll get the Hoe Bus rollin' now with more of Retsupurae's playthrough of Afterfall: Insanity, plus another episode of Legends of the Hidden Temple.

Then, at the top of the coming hour, we get our fill of the greatest acting performances possible in a movie written and shot in seven days in Sorority House Massacre 2.

So, uhh... I'm assuming Derek Savage is planning a re-release of Cool Cat Saves the Kids which will insert a short "pick-up scene" to pad out the muzak video section and better differentiate between the two separate songs that play. That way, this all-important part of film's narrative is understood much more clearly.

Usually, "pick-ups" are, well, picked up BEFORE a movie gets released, but, umm... There's a George Lucas "Star Wars Special Edition" joke to be made somewhere, but I can't be bothered.

Anyway, you'll never have to be left scratching your head and wondering, "What was Cool Cat doing immediately before THIS SHIT started?" ever again!

[up][up]Happy Birthday, brother! Make it count!

[up]You know, the rest of us got such a good charge out of last night's movie (not in the way you're likely imagining) that it averaged a [awesome][awesome][awesome] rating.

Also, it just so happens that my suspicions were correct. The flashback scenes of the original massacre alluded to by Orville Ketchum was, indeed, NOT from the original Sorority House Massacre ([awesome]) but from the equally terrible Slumber Party Massacre ([awesome]). YOU try figuring that out!

And after looking up the filmography of Peter Spellos, the actor portraying the great Orville Ketchum, it turns out the guy has had a handful of small, small roles in Hollywood movies and has done a lot of English voice acting for various high-profile anime series. Go figure.

In other news, tonight brings us a low-budget movie about two serial killers who fall in love in an asylum for the criminally insane, escape, and flee to Mexico—starring Jeff Fahey as a criminal lunatic named "Joe Spinelli" (If that ain't intended as an obvious shout-out, I don't know what is).

Anyway... This pizza shit is called Maniacts.
